Popped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with my partner. The restaurant is well presented and spotlessly clean. The waiting staff were very polite and accommodating. I ordered a peroni top and a bottle of house water, we recieved these along with a stray glass of wine, that wasn't ordered or consumed. The grilled chicken appeared to be frozen chicken chargrils from the supermarket, the fillets were very small, thin and dry, and smothered in BBQ sauce. I ordered the Lamb Iskender. The lamb Kofte had far too much mint mixed into it, which flooded the taste of the lamb. Furthermore the kofte was overcooked, making it very dry and leaving a bitter aftertaste. I left feedback with the waitress who asked if I would like to order something else, to which I declined. My partner had a chocolate fudge cake for desert, which looked and tasted amazing, accompanied by strawberries, blueberries and cream. When I asked for the bill we were charged £55 in total, including the stray glass of wine and a pre-included 10%service charge. We basically were charged £11.56 more than the price of what we ordered. Basically the restaurant looked very nice and the waiting staff were very good, but in truth, the food was substandard, especially for the price. Also I don't expect to charged for things I haven't ordered. Taking into account the quality of the food, I believe it was a cheek to automatically add a service charge to the bill. I personally believe a tip should reflect the overall service and should not be expected. Taking into account all the other reviews, I expected so much more, very disappointing indeed. We were going to go back here for valentines day, but after sampling the food and the billing issues We will not be going back here again. If a restaurant cannot cook and serve good quality food, there's just no point.

Fabulous fish and chips with great service

The staff were great but the music is played far too loud way too early to the point we could barely hear eachother whilst eating our dinner. Food was nice but the amount of sauce for the katsu is taking the mick, 70% of our meals were completely dry and I had to leave it. We go to other green king’s and the sauce is much more generous so it was a very underwhelming meal at the grove.

Absolutely awful. Ordered the sharing platter, then told not doing it today. So ordered duck bonbons and chicken wings, then told no duck bonbons. Chef said would increase number of harissa fries and chicken wings. Did we want chips and not be charged, we said no chips. Chips came but no increase in fries or wings. Felt sorry for staff, barmaid had to go and help chef. Customers were being told 25 minutes wait, we waited 45 mins before this!! Also some woman who obviously knew the staff well kept going up to the bar chatting to them when they were obviously busy. She looked like she was a member of staff but was there with her kids who played pool.

Is extremely unprofessional and racist

Wonderful experiencing trying out a new honey oat latte. Not too strong flavour , rather pleasant. Had cream bun as a take away. Thalia was a lovely staff member who recommended honey oat latte ☺️ truly made my morning.

The service is very slow. Wrong order delivered and then took ages to get the right one. Staff standing around chatting and not attentive. Very disappointing. It's not cheap so you would expect better service. Won't be coming back

Always cold in there, made coffee incorrectly and was not particularly warm either

Stoped there for fish and chips. This was awful experience. I was actually sick after eating that. Avoid this is not place for food

I ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate at Nero in Hatfield and decided to watch the barista to see if they cleaned the coffee machine parts between drinks. To my surprise, they didn’t. There was still leftover coffee grounds from the previous order. This is unacceptable and makes me question their hygiene standards. Definitely not coming back!

We had a meal and drinks, great service from a lovely Jeremy, this was our 4th visiting since moving to Welwyn Garden City, will definitely be returning

Absolutely lovely pub, fantastic food & excellent friendly helpful staff staf. I would definitely recommend. Great menu & selection of wines.
