What a gem of a place. Bev sorted my Dads afternoon tea for his 90th with loads of lovely nibbles, birthday cake was brilliant. Service amazing. Pop in for tea and cake. I dare you

I have previously left a 5 star review in which i commented about the smiling faces whilst taking your order, unfortunately this has changed. the attitude was very much below par and left me wishing that I hadn’t paid for my order, i would have walked out, but for the £35 i had just spent. I was also asked for a tip. Plenty of other takeaways …. Bye.

What a lovely atmospheric pub this is and the Indian food was exceptional and good value for the money. Customer service was excellent and we were made to feel welcome. If only we had this pub near us in Derbyshire! If you’re in this area it’s a must to visit.

We'd read good reviews about The Terrace at Sópers so thought we'd give it a try. First impressions were good, nice restaurant, spacious, a lot of seats empty for Lunchtime. We were promptly shown to our seats and orders were taken a short while later for starters and mains. After a 15-20 min wait both our starters and mains were bought over together? We were a little confused as we hadn't requested this and we've never had this at previous restaurants (we dine out a lot). There was no apology or explanation given. We were so hungry from the wait at this point we just excepted it. The waitress, who seemed nice, did come back and check on us once we'd started eating. The food was well presented, and tasted nice enough but nothing at all special. I had the fishcake which was okay and the duck salad, which was nice but there was barely any duck and it was tiny pieces. So mainly salad leaves and plum slices. The desserts were nicer (we had the Chocolate Nemesis). They stick a service charge on the bill which we thought was a bit cheeky given the slow service, but we could have had it removed and didn't so that's on us. On the whole we personally wouldn't rush to dine here again due to the slow service, them casually serving 2 courses together with no explanation, and the food just didn't wow us enough to draw us back.

Went for a relaxed lunch. Lovely meal, served by very attentive waitress Abigail. Would recommend.

Food was great, everything was fresh and the mains were lovely. We came for a birthday meal, there were 7 of us, the service was very slow but staff were friendly enough to begin with. There was live music playing (which we weren’t informed of when booking) and the speaker was just behind us and we could barely hear each other talk which was frustrating. The main issue we had was with the bill, we didn’t feel (given the slow service) that they deserved the full service charge (that they automatically put on the bill) but given there were 7 of us, we still tipped £20. They were initially fine with this and no questions were asked until one of the servers came over (fairly disgruntled) and said that ‘you know we didn’t charge you for bringing the cake out’. Never in my life have I experienced a restaurant charging for a cake but he obviously felt the need to make a dig because we didn’t pay the full ‘optional’ tip. It’s a real shame this happened, as the food was great. Because of our experience of this, I wouldn’t return.
