Caffe Nero, The Galleria, Hatfield in Welwyn Hatfield

I ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate at Nero in Hatfield and decided to watch the barista to see if they cleaned the coffee machine parts between drinks. To my surprise, they didn’t. There was still leftover coffee grounds from the previous order. This is unacceptable and makes me question their hygiene standards. Definitely not coming back!

Too long a wait. Staff are helpful but not enough staff working

I usually enjoy visiting Caffè Nero, but I was quite disappointed with the hygiene standards at the Galleria Hatfield branch. I noticed that some baristas were handling drinks while repeatedly touching their face, nose, and hair with their bare hands, which is quite unhygienic. Given that they are preparing food and beverages for customers, I would expect better hygiene practices. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that staff follow proper hygiene protocols, such as washing hands frequently and avoiding unnecessary contact with their face while handling drinks. This would help maintain the quality and cleanliness that customers expect.

Went in to shop on 7th; super busy day, they had a queue out the shop. Whilst in line I witnessed some terrible customers who spoke to staff atrociously. I was served by tall, brown girl, she was amazing, interacted super nicely with my family and even made my daughter smile. Came to leave a review and saw so many negative comments - they can't be true all the staff were wonderful and helpful - coffee was great, full food availability and great Christmas songs playing!!!! Can tell customers have no patience - stressed from shopping with kids then come in store and blame the staff - calling them rude is definitely inaccurate

The girl who took our order was very rude, tall brown curly hair. She just had to make a coffee and spoke very rudely that the cafe closes in 2 mins so we need to order, but the way we were spoken to was extremely rude. Unsatisfactory service

The tall light brown lady with curly hair who was working on 1 December on an evening shift was so so so rude. I come here all the time and the service is always top notch. But today she was so mean and she didn’t even talk properly. Very poor experience. Need to atleast respect the customer. It’s so basic. She needs some training.

Very rude staff, short blond girl very unprofessional, she doesn’t do anything might as well just stay at home if she doesn’t want to work. The coffee she made was disgusting and she didn’t offer us anything she kept forgetting what we were saying to her. Me and my friend both felt sick after we drank what she made. Disgusting staff, disgusting drink, disgusting food.

This is now my local and i go every week - the staff are always so friendly. Its a busy branch but the staff have always been so approachable and really patient when they take your order (even when it's no longer listed on their specials). The coffee is great and always made with attention to detail. Definitely recommend this one.

Nero at the Galleria is my normal go to coffee place. But today the racket from the BH Month stalls drove me to the other place (no names) today.

Got given the wrong toastie, and the toastie was soggy and not at all crispy. Coffe is alright though. Would not get toastie here again.

Slightly slow service, but quite busy. Good selection of food and beverages. Good selection of seating.

Tall and light brown skin barista lady was so rude and service hella slow. Don’t bother. What a joke. She was super slow and hasn’t got a clue how to operate or run the place although she looked like someone senior. Hire someone who can actually manage

Made a mistake ordered 2 decaf teas got to be honest they were the worst cuppas we have ever had. Whether it was the water or tea bag, it was absolutely awful. We handed them back to the server, who offered another drink, but it was refused. would rather have had the money refunded

Been going there for few months, but yesterday it was around 5 to 6, I was craving for the coffee so just went there if they are closed or not, but that lady who works there she said “Closed”, so rudely waving her hand to exit even before I asked her, it’s really disappointed me. She could have said sorry we are closed or can wait for me to speak first. Sorry Cafe Nero, but small things matter.

The dish washer never works during weekends. It's been like this for the past 6 months. Now the ovens aren't working. Really? Why is it open there? Sad, as the coffee is amazing.

The neighborhood cinema is relaxing without saturation. With popcorn, relax and watch the movie you want. The parking at the shopping center is a little expensive during the week, better on Saturday and Sunday.

Got a mocha as usual, asked for single shot espresso. Saw he was only pouring half a coffee in my cup. £4 for basically nothing. Cheers

It's OK but they can't make a good coffee. Stale oxidised beans sitting in hoppers all day and staff that are not making sure the grind is dialed in correctly meaning over or under extracted shots. Don't waste your time or money getting an espresso as it will taste sour and bitter and bare in mind that if you don't take sugar in your coffee you will likely need to change that for your visit here. My last coffee from them was so bad I bought myself a good machine and grinder and my home coffees after some learning and practice are 100 times better than anything they can make me here.

Never seems to be enough staff on hence the long waits. They are friendly when you get there. Coffee is good for a chain and frankly there is very little competition in this area. Food is decent. No real cosy atmosphere due to design and location.

A excellent place to pick up a coffee and a quick bite. They offer very prompt service to customers.

The atmosphere in this Caffè Nero is fantastic. Nice airy feeling due to the lack of a ceiling and the location is quite literal at the centre of Galleria.

Really rude woman. Asked for half a pump of Chai latte (as syrup is used in other coffee shops) and was laughed at and told there is no pump and was spoken to impolitely and rudely, as she then chucked out the powder and huffed. No manners and it was such an effort to make the drink, which then tasted gross, as it had been rushed.

Took a while to get served as conversation seemed more important amongst the staff. Ordered large Caramel cappuccino and got large latte due to lack of concentration

Normal Nero experience but what a long long wait.

I waited 10 minutes to order a takeaway coffee and when it got to the point where I could order it, I heard sorry no lid.

Christmas Coffee served in take away cup , damaged sofa, damaged chairs etc

Only use takeaway cups each visit. Charges should be reduced if not supplying correct cups when drinking in.

Every time I ask for a soya milk coffee comes with normal milk. 🤯

Good coffee and selection of snacks, pretty standard as far as Nero quality goes. The staff here are always friendly and attentive. The cafe used to have an issue with there not being enough staff to service the long queues, especially during weekends but that seems to have been resolved and I always see at least 2 people at the counter now, which is a big improvement. A lot of trainee staff recently who on occasion may get our orders wrong but usually it's a minor issue and they're happy to resolve it. All in all, I think this is the best cafe in the Galleria for sure and one of the best in Hatfield.

The tables and chairs had seen better and and were quite grubby. Expensive experience.

Popped into the cafe today and was very surprised. At a time when covid is on the rise I thought the cafe would be taking every precaution to protect it's customers and staff. There was a sign saying Masks where at your discretion, yet it's been a legal requirement since 30 November. BOTH staff members did not wear masks ... ok, they maybe exempt, but both of them? Either they are exempt or Cafe Nero are getting careless. Next, as staff is preparing my tea in a mug he COUGHS over it before handing it over! Whilst I accepted the tea, too stunned to do otherwise, I obviously did not drink it. This is very poor and hope the cafe will improve their hygiene and care of their customers.

Good old Caffe Nero, you know what you're going to get, but for some reason their Baristas (at any branch) seem more human than at other chains.

Great service and fantastic location for both family coffee get togethers and business meetings. Parking facilities are brilliant as are disability accesses. Once done with coffee the outlet stores are brilliant. Some massive brands like M&S, TK Maxx, Nike and others.

Another very nice branch of the Ceffee Nero chain, this one in the Galleria outlet mall. While it is inside the mall, it is open on three sides, coupled with the high ceiling of the mall and the open space in front, the café has an outdoor feel. I particularly like the rattan chairs with small round tables and the awning, they give a Parisian feel. A must go to coffeeshop when shopping in Galleria.

Not good. Would not accept cash. I know it's covid but the barista touched my cup, my lid and handed me the drink, but yet my cash is contaminated. Ridiculous.

I had a coffee today and it was an eyelash in it🤢🤮! In this COVID situation its the last thing you wish for in your coffee 😷! I chunked it to the bin but made me so upset, please be more hygiene!

Due to Covid and there only being two staff (who were very friendly) the wait was quite long. All this business of people have to check in etc takes time. In my opinion it would be better if they employed a pensioner to clear away the tables, we couldn't sit where we wanted to because the table of our choice was full of empty cups and plates, plus it wasn't clean. This is a problem I find within many cafes. To employ a pensioner is a nice way of helping out the local community instead of some faceless persons on another continent. The coffee was good, although it could have been hotter. A hint, always ask for full fat milk if that's your preference. Photo, one of the views from the cafe.

It was sad to see the tables left uncleaned and when asked for assistance only adviced that they were busy and cleaning materials are available for our use 🙂. For next time if I have a choice I would avoid this specific Cafe Nero(I would not generalise this to all, as they are fairly good in other places)

Lovely place in Galleria Hatfield. It can be crowded as this was the first time we were able to find a place to sit, I think due to the current pandemic. There cakes and coffees were both lovely.

Best AUTHENTIC Italian style coffee house chain (out of all the usual suspects!) and usually cheaper too! They make the best decaf-mocha IMHO.

A place where everybody knows your name ... felt like being in an episode of Cheers, Anna was really friendly, made brilliant frap, exceptional service from her. This place is filthy. Not one clean table to sit at. Junk everywhere and its first thing in the morning. Clearly last shift did not tidy and neither did the one just started. Totally put me off my massively overpriced coffee and will certainly not come again

Slow service. The lady cleaning up was slamming mugs down and had a face on. The main barista slowly wanders around checking his phone, whilst the queue gets longer and longer. I gave two stars because the poor trainee lad was working hard, was pleasant and helpful. Coffee was pretty poor too.

Caffe Nero is the best place to have a cup of coffee in Hatfield, Welwyn, London and other places here. This cafee Nero art The Galleria is the next place to sit and relax with family and friends, ofcourse with coffee :) Taste of coffee is the best here compared to other cafes.
