Good food. Nice, clean environment. Plenty of space. Free parking on entering registration. Food came up quickly and staff were friendly and welcoming. Good varied menu and separate GF menu on table. The only negatives were the fish fryer was out of order which can't be helped but we were advised on arrival. Also the dessert we wanted was out of stock which was disappointing so we didn't bother with a pudding as nothing else on menu we fancied. Overall we had a nice meal and would visit again.

Even though the pub was not full the atmosphere was good. We ordered our drinks and found a table to order the food, the people behind the bar were attentive and very welcoming. The food arrived and it was much tastier than I expected for a pub chain. I would definitely go back for the food and the excellent service

Me and my partner had a fantastic experience for the first time coming to this pub. The staff were really friendly and really helpful. One particular barmaid let us try a little bit of one of the beers based on what we ordered as she thought we would like it, which was very kind And she also managed to find us a set of darts to play with which we did after we eaten our food the food service was incredible too. The food was delicious and fast to arrive and we would definitely come here again. It was a fantastic experience.

The food was ok in fact very good for the price was not disappointed in any way does not reach five stars as was not fine dining how ever the rest of experience their was outstanding help us with glutten allergies that wife and sister have let us bring my other sisters dog in the pub and was fantastic with my 12 year old nephew the location was ideal as we have to travel to meet together as we left the pub before we got to cars we was talking about coming back not one person out of seven had a bad word to say and some can complain about their shadow their was pool table dart being played by some lads in the corner their is a play corner for younger children at least one fruit machine that I saw toilets was clean staff lovely many thanks mark and family x

We came here Sunday for breakfast with Santa. the staff were very attentive and Kathy was dressed as Santas elf! She was amazing! The breakfast was served quickly and was tasty! My boy had a lovely time seeing Santa and the gift was lovely. Will be back soon.

We came for breakfast with Santa and I thought it was fantastic was a lovely chilled environment the kids could have breakfast nicely with some activities at the table the big man did say hello while having breakfast then after you could go and see him in your own time wasn’t rushed at all and got a great gift pack from him my son was very happy. The value for money of the morning was great! The staff were super friendly could tell lots of effort had gone into planning the morning. Most importantly the kids were able to just be kids and have Fun 10/10 :)

Booked in advance for sunday lunch and when we arrived was told they had cancelled sunday lunch because they had a group booking in. Too late to go somewhere elss. What a really terrible srrvice, not even an apology.

Clean, very festive looking. Loved the idea of a childrens play area which will be perfect for our little one when hes older!. Lovely staff too. Perfect!

A really nice and relaxed pub, I've been a couple of times for drinks and once now for breakfast. I felt very welcomed especially by Prudence who took our order and served us.

Great food and very good service

The biggest issue you have there are the staff, service is very very slow. One of your members of staff had no idea what an Irish coffee/floater was, so we couldn't have one! Not good.

This was our second visit to the Bakehouse. Would highly recommend, friendly efficient staff, food arrived swiftly to the table. Tasty food, good choice for gluten free, will definitely be back again.

It was passable, not somewhere I would return to out of choice.

My nan wanted to treat us to a dinner out, ordered and was left waiting for an hour and 20 minutes before the food came out. Salad on the side was soggy and wilted where the food has clearly been left under the heat lamps in the kitchen, even with that, chips were still cold.

We had an amazing time at the Halloween event! The activities were incredible, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The girl doing face painting was incredibly talented, creating stunning designs. The pumpkin and paint station was a great touch, letting the kids unleash their creativity and imagination. The event was very well organized, with reserved tables and personalized name tags, making everything run smoothly. Our favorite part was the lucky/yucky dip – such a fun twist! We’ll definitely be back for future events like this. Thank you so much for such a fantastic experience!

Nice staff lovely restaurant and great children’s corner. The food was good but could be better. Child’s pasta so small like tiny portion and pasta is cheap. The kebab and pitta was tasty but onions and pepper need to be cooked just a load of raw thick onion and Pitta too thick. Could be a great dish but no chef put that together. Really like this place just wish food better as it’s not a cheap place. Needs more thought.

They spent a fortune on the PR with money off vouchers. we went for the very first time. 15 minutes to speak to a waiter, and then it was because I had to get him. Sticky table. Nearly an hour to wait for the food. It is a Marsten's pub NO PEDIGREE - pathetic. The food was incorrect. The roast spuds were not roasted, carrots were cold. Only 3 staff in the front for a nearly full house. We had a concert to go to and were just about to walk out when the food arrived. It was all rubbish,

Good food, really good service, good value. Very child friendly.

Nice food, but needs more staff when busy, one poor waitress during to cover the whole restaurant meant our table wasn't cleared and no time to even order any puddings as after waited ages to try and get served. Need to prioritise if you want to be a table service restaurant or an order at the bar restaurant. NOT staffs fault at all, just not enough of them to deal with a busy restaurant.

Great food, nice bar safe cowboy burger was amazing

Years ago: Great carvery meals. Better than Toby Carvery and at a significantly lower price. So I gave it 5 stars. But then they gave up the carvery and now it has zero appeal. The last time I went there, I tried an Xmas meal, a bit like what you might end up with on your plate from a carvery. It was simply awful, so I am downgrading my rating to 2 stars. Prices have gone through the roof, also.

They have amazing food when I ordered a cowboy burger it came in around 10-20 minutes and there were 4 people the service is truly amazing as well

Lively pub, friendly service from all the staff, excellent selection of drinks! Manager behind the bar helped me choose a delightful gin when I was having trouble deciding!

Had lunch with the girls and a few drinks. Great service the food was great and the drinks were such a good price. A special thank you to Becca who looked after us from start to finish and truly went above and beyond. Perfect little afternoon treat will definitely be returning.

There were 13 of us and I gave details of our pre-order. Prudence was fantastic is organising everything. The food was excellent and wait time was minimal. Thank you also to Becca, Beth and Harriet who were friendly helpful and couldn't do enough to help. I would happily recommend the Bakehouse to friends. All of our party were really happy with their experience.

The food was absolutely amazing I think the chef name was Barrie, cannot be sure but my gosh the mixed grill was so good! was done to perfection. I will definitely be back! Also the lady who took my order was so polite think her name was becca was so polite

I like the Bakehouse, outside of the city centre, relaxing place, nice barstaff...but to be honest haven't eaten here for a long time, but when I was in the area and ate here the food was always good, so cannot see any reason why that would change

Food was very basic quality and expensive for what it was. We arrived on a Friday at 7pm and they had no steak, no fish and no seafood. The menu is quite small and this left us with very limited options. Would not recommend.

Came with my mum and 2 sisters today for lunch,excellent service, great food,a lovely young lady with a pony tail served us,didn't get her name,she was absolutely wonderful,nothing was to much trouble.come here quite a lot and always have great service. Thankyou. 😀

Stopped in for a drink, had an ale that had gone a bit vinegary, other than that it seemed like a decent standard pub. Plenty of outdoor seating too.

Service very poor, food quality terrible! 2 x baguettes & chips chicken was such a small quantity in each one barely any and it was a crispy hot dog roll! extra cheese on chips (a tiny sprinkle) 2 x drinks with the longest serving time! 40 mins for food and the place seemed quiet. £30 bill - McDonald’s would be a better option!

It's an ok pub, but expensive for what it is. At certain times you can get two beers on offer for £7, which is good, but then a pint of pepsi max costs £4, which seems a lot. Food wait times can be pretty slow some days, but fine others, if you're just getting bar snack type food (fries, chicken bits etc.) Good location near a number of offices, but it's also on a traffic junction.

A really good pub and reasonable priced food. Often come here for a few beers on rest days. Staff great and friendly. Have eaten here with family and no issues. Would recommend.

Slow at bar, and online ordering a waste of time, as we had to chase up drinks at bar, but food order was quicker and food very nice. All orders correct despite big group.

We had a nice night at The Bakehouse. We had taken the 30% discount code from the website and applied that a lot. Polly was great behind the bar. I like that they take cash. I thought that, even discounted, the wings starter was a bit steep but the bigger mixed grill was wonderful. There was a six inch chip on it ! The parking was good, but I don't like having to put my registration into the computer. I would go back, though perhaps not so often as I don't live in WGC.

Brought the family as new to the area. We had a great meal and the staff were friendly and accomodating. The Kebabs are delicious and my kids loved the hot dogs. We will be back.

We had a wonderful time. We came with our 2 year old son, as we were out and wanted somewhere we could call in without a booking. Ordered food from the kids menu and the size of the meal and quality was brilliant. Our son ate everything and the staff was incredible with him. I'd like to call out Shane in particular, who served us was very attentive with him, made him laugh, offered him crayons and an activity sheet to draw on. All round fantastic experience. Thank you.

Loved the atmosphere with the dj and music. But upon getting drinks and food the bar didn't have enough people to serve and this took a while. Once the order of our food was in it took ages to get and eventually a staff member came out and asked us if we ordered food I said yes and she said our nachos have gone to another table but we will get another and our mains and it was all due to the table we were sat at didn't exist. Nice pub food and good portion sizes, can order from your table. Good service and staff are friendly! They have pool and darts and music on the weekends, next to try the quiz on a Thursday!

The venue was quick to facilitate a late booking for 2 so that we could eat before our local show. The food was great and arrived quickly! The atmosphere on a Friday night was a little boisterous for our taste but we recognise that people were enjoying themselves and no trouble was caused.

Absolutely enjoyed our time here as a family restaurant I cannot recommend enough. Lovely little play area inside and out. Kids activities on back of menus also which was a plus side- usually need to bring a device for kids but do not here. I'd also like to shout out to the staff me being me forgot to mention allergic to tomatoes (it's a new thing) Food came out but they took food back without no complaints and Cooked without tomatoes for me. Went there for the first time today bringing my 2 visitors from Canada for a local pib experience and they did not disappoint! First point of contact from the staff was Molly who was absolutely brilliant. Always smiling, very approachable, and conversed with us where she can. Later on Shane went around different tables checking the customers which gave one of my visitors a chance to talk to a local. I had the fish and chips and it was huge! The serving was so big, definitely worth the £13 I paid for it. We also had the steak and ale pie plus the chicken tikka masala which were both delish! Place was clean and tidy no uncleaned table left for the new customers to find upon entry. There is also outdoor space for eating and an area for people who smoke. Billiards/pool table and darts available and a wee kids corner around the back part looked good as well. Will definitely come back again. Just to say that your efforts of reaching out to locals via your leaflet with a 30% off voucher worked. That pushed me to try the place. Well done to the team.

Came in to the pub tonight, had Shane serve us all night he bought up the atmosphere and kept us in the pub. If it wasn’t for him and DJ Freedom we wouldn’t have stayed. Thanks Shane and Dj freedom for an awesome night.

Good place to eat and now know not to use the app

Booked a table, got there, provided details, and was told we had to prove our booking by showing an email. It turns out they had given our table to another larger party. I would give zero stars if I could for this reason alone. The food itself was naff.

Very good quality and choice of beer..Nice atmosphere, great after refurbished. Very reasonable price for drinks compare other places around this area.

Have just spent a lovely couple of hours here having lunch with family. I had the best cheeseburger ever. It was juicy, well cooked and a delicious burger sauce. Chicken tikka and a hotdog were also very well presented and good sized portions. Followed by rocky road sundaes all round. I would highly recommend this place. The staff were very good, the young lady served us and was delightful. Will definitely return the next time I am visiting family.

This place was very standard, no bells or whistles just pub food, again nothing too extravagant and food quality was average. There was a decent little play corner which kept the kids entertained. Wasn't the cleanest place. Several tables were dirty when we came in which eventually got cleaned when we asked them to. Staff were pleasant enough but they were mainly stuck behind the bar so didn't see much of them. Overall very average, not somewhere I would return to unless going for a pint in the area.

Ruth has looked after us incredibly well, bringing food quickly and checking on us several times… to make sure we had everything we needed. She’s been accommodating and friendly throughout. Very impressed.

This has become our "local" for meeting for a few drinks and sometimes lunch over the past few months. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, atmosphere relaxed (we are always here during the afternoon), location perfect for us to get to. Love the booths for privacy too. Good service & food.

Attended bakehouse for early drinks and a bite to eat and our server molly made the visit. Very warm and friendly upon arrival/ ordering drinks at the bar, and as we had never been before she guided us with where’s best to sit etc… people forget the impact of friendly staff and molly certainly made the experience. Good music, lovely atmosphere and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.

A nice gastro pub. Good menu and a big selection of drinks

After my last positive visit at the Bakehouse, I went again and took friends this time. I was pleased to see friendly, approachable staff once again. I was chatting to Prudence and Molly behind the bar who told me about the different deals on drinks. They were both brilliant and the atmosphere in the pub was brilliant. The pub was busy but everyone, including my friends, were served quickly. I travel around Hertfordshire for work and I'm always looking for a nice pub to go to; I will always keep the Bakehouse on my radar when I'm in Welwyn Garden City!

Review updated March 2023: Unfortunately my review had to be modified after a less than average experience last weekend. We booked a table for lunch on a Sunday. Before we were seated the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink which seemed a bit too quick. We asked to see the drinks menu first. I ordered the drinks at the bar, which was wise because it took a while for him to come back. As we weren't in a rush we ordered starters first. We ate them (sharers were good but overpriced.) it took a long time for the waiter to come back to ask us our mains (the pub wasn't very busy) which meant we had to wait an hour and a half between our starters and mains! Having 2 children, that was far too long. The Sunday roasts were not great, the chicken was very dry. Not a very nice experience and frankly we won't be back. It's a shame because the pub itself is nice and the variety of drinks is interesting.

Booked a table for two for Mother’s Day lunch at The Bakehouse in Welwyn. Jack was our host/server and he couldn’t have been more attentive. We were able to change to a quieter table and having placed our order we were not rushed with any of our courses and nothing was too much trouble. We both enjoyed a superb 3 course lunch, quality and quantity were amazing for the great price of just £21.99. We would certainly recommend going there.

I won't use again due to parking scam. I wonder how much they make from that?

This is my regular and honestly it is one of the most homely and welcoming pubs in Welwyn. It’s a great place to chill, get a pint and have a chinwag with ur friend. All the staff r really friendly and they also always have a DJ on Friday nights for those party animals 😎

Used this whilst my EV was charging. Friendly staff and lovely establishment. Liked how it was a modern pub setting with pool and darts areas available making it more of a traditional pub. I would certainly visit again in the future if in area.
