The Grove in Welwyn Hatfield

We visit the grove often in the afternoon, never had a bad meal, and always happy with the service.

Yet again superb food, superb value and great service.it is without doubt the best pub in Welwyn Garden City. Amazing value and great service with food at incredible prices.

Late morning stop in for hot chocolate to warm up. Pleasant place, friendly helpful staff.

I think the chef are watching football match. I wait for 1 hr for some simple food. My daughter's sauage should be with gravy. No gravy. When i ask for gravy the shop keeper said it charges. While the menu mentioned that it is with gravy. I finally got the gravy but the whole meal is rubbish. Food poor quality Service rubbish Not recommended.

Service was so bad. Food came 1 hour after it ordered on the app . Fish and Chips were not hot nor crispy. When we chased at 50min , we were told 1 and half hour waiting is normal time and we were blamed placing order in app was the other reason to delay further . Kid’s meal come without gravy and waiter said it has to add extra fee, but menu said gravy included.

Great pub for cheap meal out. Always busy and staff very friendly. Would recommend.

Came in on a Friday evening. Pub was buzzing and atmosphere was great. The menu prices are spectacular and the drink menu has some really affordable offers. The lady who served at the bar, although incredibly busy, took the time to pay attention to detail and worked so quickly in order to keep up with the volume of customers. She really impressed me. She had blonde hair worn in a pony tail. Friday 20th October.

Just got home from an evening at The Grove. We were allocated table 29 which was perfect for us to keep an eye on our children in the playground and also a great view of the TV (England football match) Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our order was serviced very quickly. The burgers were very good. Fantastic service and great value for money. Would definitely recommend this pub and will hopefully be back in the future. we was in welwyn visiting family came in on Saturday for dinner great service and lovely food was very busy but did not impact our visit. came back on Sunday for the roast again amazing service from jodie and reece the roast was the best we have had in a pub ever very very pleased and will return on our next family visit

Ordered separately, but for the same table, and was told half of the order was going to come out 45 minutes after the first lot of food. Short blonde woman behind the bar was rude as anything as well. Luckily we got a refund before we actually had any food. I think we dodged a bullet to be fair. Will never go again

GM at the restaurant was incredibly rude and threw a drink over me as an "accident" 10 minutes after I said the head on the beer was too large. Ridiculous staff.

Poor customer service. I complained about my food and waitress pulling it apart, saying it is green king spec, so it is fine and arguing with me. Dry chicken wings, mac and cheese is just pasta with melted cheddar on top, no creamy sauce or any taste. Waitress was rude and squished my mac and cheese around and squished my chicken with her hand, saying it wasn't dry. Waitress then asked me if I was a chef. Do not go here, awful.

Popped in for lunch with our granddaughter. Food was really good, freshly made and very good value. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and even brought over a bowl of water for our puppy. A very nice experience thanks.

We love coming to the pub for drinks with our dog. Very friendly staff and the prices are very reasonable. They often have promotions, for those who love watching sport - the pub seems to attract many people to watch big games. We have attended a couple of the entertainment evenings, they have also been great fun. Definitely worth a visit.

Christmas party with work ,we were first seated in the bar area right next to the TV where boxing was on very loadly,we were then told we couldn't have the festive menu because we hadn't pre booked despite repeatedly asking at time of booking if we needed to and having all had plenty of food and drinks we were then told the kitchen was closed at 9.30 so we couldn't have dessert !!!!!!

Went for a lunch on Sunday and surprised to see that a football team came in in their muddy football kits and just sat on the chairs. As the chairs are nicely upholstered, I am surprised that the managers are allowing this. Not nice for other people sitting on those chairs on wet mud.

My sister and I had lunch here today I live quite near and have not been for a long time. The pub was lovely and clean and food amazing. Freshly cooked and such good value 10.99 for 2 pub classic meals. Bar staff smiley and so patient. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

Food was ok but bar staff quite blunt and offish. A very clicky pub so felt a bit unwelcome because I wasn't a regular.

AVOID Rude and will not return impolite staff and unfriendly atmosphere unless you are a regular you will be treated like you do not matter and your business is not valued which is a shame as previous staff and manager were always polite

Could do with a little renovation, decoration upgrade of toilets etc... difficult in these times for any Landlord! Otherwise pretty good, Staff helpful, food to a good standard for the price and they have Stella Artois on tap so I was happy.

I try not to be too critical of hospitality venues in the current climate but,....oh dear. I attended The Grove to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday but having too endure a 30 - 40 minute wait before being served, every time you wanted a drink, took the shine off the evening. The bar was busy but, not a 30 - 40 minute wait busy. The problem was the staff, totally incompetent doesn't really cover it. Very surprised that Greene King allows one of the establishments too be run in such a way, the service is atrocious! When you think it can't get any worse, you drink comes served in a plastic cup. I will not be returning by choice, under duress is the only way I will go back. AVOID,AVOID,AVOID, AVOID!!!!!!!!

Our local DJ and the leader of our scooter club, The Welwyn Stags, who regularly attend The Grove had unfortunately been taken I’ll with covid. The Grove provided an amazing Christmas dinner for over 20 of us, great service, great food. Following Saturday the manager provided music with the scooter scene sound. A fantastic night at such short notice. We didn’t miss out on our annual bash. Fun was had by all. Rate the pub, staff, management top score!! Thank you

Booked a festive meal, it was absolutely delicious, all three courses were spot, the waitress was extremely polite and helpful, asking us when we were ready to eat, plus a gap between each course, well done to all the staff

Came on a Saturday evening. Food was good for most of our group, one meal recooked quickly as was over cooked and hard 1st time. Bar service was very good. And live music was great, Adam and Kelly were fab. Would come back for the live music when I'm back in the area.

Change of ownership. Maybe not for the best. Went for a second and last visit. For those of you who remember B and W television. There was a guy called Peter Brady in a television series based upon a famous novel by H.G. Wells. I felt like him while trying to get served. When I eventually got my Coors light, I had a sip and left the rest on the bar. I haven't done that for a long time.

Went for a family meal. Phoned to make sure they were cooking. Arrived at 7.15pm to be told we would have to be out by 8pm as we had a child with us. Dinner was definitely rushed and not enjoyed.

Still a nice family pub, the building dating back to the 1960's.

Visited as part of a group of 6 one being in a wheelchair , very accessible, nice clean radar key toilet. Plenty of parking. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Good pub meal , well presented ,
