There are many cafes in Hope to choose from, especially on a bank holiday but the best one has got to be the Courtyard Cafe. Tucked away a little off the main street, it's quiet allowing you to hear your conversations but the absolute best thing are the chips! The chip butties are amazing! The chips are crisp and properly sized! Looking around all food we saw looked really good. Staff were so lovely and clearly the local's favourite spot to come to. An excellent cafe to come to after a great walk from Hope. Can't wait to come back to Courtyard and eat more chips!

Called here for my second visit recently, this time to try the breakfast menu. I had the full English breakfast which was absolutely delicious, could clearly tell that the produce was of high quality, not the cheap stuff you sometimes find on breakfasts. My other half had the RC royale which she said was amazing. Looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommended.

The iced coffee and brownie was amazing. The shop is small but has a great atmosphere and products. My friend had a sandwich and it was great!

Sadly, this lovely little store and coffee shop has re-located to Glossop. I'm sure it will be missed.

Food was decent but not worth £8 for a sandwich , when i entered the building we felt very unwelcomed , the staff kept giving us dirty looks. The woman at the bar asked us to repeat our order at least 8 times. Not a single smile in the whole premises , the staff looked depressed.

In Oct 2023, my wife and myself and our dog stayed at the above hotel for 3 nights in room 3 at the front of the hotel. We had a fantastic stay, the room was great and everything was faultless. As a result we decided to book again this year and we stayed at The Peak Hotel in room 4 which is directly over the kitchen to the rear. This was allocated at the time of booking. We arrived on Sunday 17th November at 15:45 and checked in to the room. Within minutes of us being inside we could hear loud dance music coming from below us but at that stage we didn’t know the source. It was like being on top of a disco in full flight. We were going out in any case and left the room for a few hours and didn’t return until around 20:00. On entering the room we were again confronted with loud music coming from below as before. It was reverberating upwards and we could hear it above the TV in our room. We could also make out the songs being played and hear the lyrics word for word. As a result my wife went downstairs in her pyjamas to see exactly where the music was coming from and to ask the staff if it could be turned down. My wife spoke to a male member of staff who was the one that checked us in. My wife said to him that we were in room 4 and that she could hear music very loudly banging from directly under our room to which the member of staff looked surprised and confused. My wife informed him that it was Green Day playing and he replied that it would be coming from the kitchen staff and he would ask them to turn it down. No apology was given. My wife returned to the room and told me what was said and we waited for the music to be turned down. This didn’t happen as we could then hear The Jam playing. We could not relax in the room as this was directly under where the bed is situated. It wasn’t a good start to our stay but we wanted to try and enjoy it however the music continued at the same volume up until 21:30 when it was turned off. The following morning we decided that we would speak to the manager as we didn’t want a repeat of the previous night. By chance Graham, the manager, was speaking to some residents in room 3 next door to us so my wife managed to speak to him. She explained the issues with the noise to him as described. He was very apologetic and said it was different staff on that day and there was only one person working so there wouldn’t be a repeat of the loud music. My wife thanked him and we hoped that that would be the end of it and we could carry on enjoying our stay. Everything was fine during the afternoon when in our room, for a time. We then went out for our evening meal and returned to the room at about 19:30 as it started to snow quite heavily. It was quiet when we first entered. We had showers and got changed to settle down for the evening. We had just got into bed at about 20:00 when the music started up again with great gusto. We couldn’t relax so we both went downstairs to the bar area and spoke to John, the barman and explained the issue. Our displeasure was clear. We asked if the music could be turned down and he told us that it would be going off and he apologised profusely and offered us a drink on the house. We declined the drink but we’re grateful for his professional and proactive manner. The music was turned off that night. Following on from the previous 2 nights and several complaints to staff and management we decided that we again wanted to speak to the manager as we felt our concerns weren’t being taken seriously and it was leaving us feeling annoyed as we couldn’t relax in the room we’d paid for. Therefore this morning just before midday, we ventured downstairs again in the hope of speaking to Graham. He was not on the premises at that point but we spoke to a female member of staff who was cleaning. We explained the whole situation again and she was receptive to our complaint. She explained that room 4 sat right above the kitchen and that the speakers were in an elevated position and she had previously said to kitchen staff to place the speakers on the floor so that the noise was deadened somewhat by surrounding appliances. For this to be said it made us feel as though this wasn’t an isolated incident but had previously been complained about by other customers. She apologised and said that there was different staff on and it wouldn’t happen again and she would contact Graham and he would either ring us or come up to the room and see us. She did say there was a chance of a different room but there was no guarantee. We explained we didn’t want that as we were only there for one more night and were not happy and that we wanted some kind of reduction on our bill for the inconvenience and upset that this had caused. We once again returned to the room and awaited contact. Within 10 minutes of us being in the room again the music started from below us in the kitchen as before both music and lyrics clearly audible and this time it was Lewis Capaldi shortly followed by Blondie. At this point we were speechless as we had only just spoken to staff minutes before and felt like we were being laughed at and goaded. My wife burst into tears and said she couldn’t stay any longer as it was obvious that nothing would be done about the issue. We therefore took the decision to leave a day early rather than having to endure another night. We felt like we had no other option. We started to pack our things up during which time we thought that Graham would’ve made contact with us but he didn’t. Instead I collected a few bags and went downstairs to go to my car. He was behind the bar and I asked if I could have a word on my return. He said yes. I returned after a few minutes and spoke to him at the far end of the bar. I explained again what the issue was and that nothing had improved so the only option we had was to leave a day early as there was no guarantee that things would improve. Rather than the apologetic manager my wife has spoken to the day before I got a quite defensive person who was reluctant to come to any satisfactory conclusion. He stated that in his opinion the music wasn’t that bad. I explained it sounded like a disco at full pelt and that he should come up to the room to listen to it so that this situation wouldn’t happen to future customers. I also mentioned it would be a good idea to tell kitchen staff that if there were people in room 4 to have the music at a lower level as to not irritate and have a bit of consideration for paying guests. I also mentioned that I didn’t believe that we were the first to complain and he stated that we weren’t but not for a while. Obviously this is an Issue that has not been rectified and displays bad management and customer service. He did not want to go upstairs and at that point offered us a nights stay for free at another time. I stated that we wouldn’t be coming back as we felt we had been treated pretty badly. We would’ve rather have had the last nights stay knocked off the bill as recompense. Why couldn’t this have been done? There was no other reasonable offer given and no meaningful apology either. I was told that I shouldn’t expect the kitchen staff to work in silence which I agreed with however we never asked for the music to be turned off per se but only turned down. I really don’t see why this couldn’t have been done to stop unnecessary upset and unfairness. We had been looking forward to visiting Castleton and your premises for some time. We have now had to return home early feeling let down and deflated. We are contacting you in hope that something can be done and to make you aware that this potentially will cause problems for future customers. If you are contemplating staying here, do not book room 4 but my advise is that there are plenty of other establishments in the town only happy to welcome you and treat you as a valued customer and not a nuisance.

Visited here on 'Christmas lights switch on' afternoon/evening, and what a lovely cafe. We both had a panini and a milkshake. The staff were very friendly, the coleslaw was amazing and the milkshake were one of the best either of us have had for a very long time.
