Me, and 2 other friends went to this place as a take out for lunch - simply chips. We waited for about 20-25 minutes, to be given a frankly terrible portion of hips each, in which we had all found hairs in. I, decided, against my common sense, to spend a pound extra to have cheese on it. The cheese was not especially ON the chips, as much as stuck to the take-out box, almost completely missing the chips altogether. Overall, this cafe is terrible, and i would never reccomend it to anyone.

Just got home from a lovely night away in Castleton, finished off with a divine breakfast at The Three Roofs. The service was exemplary, the breakfast was divine. The full English was perfect, they didn't pile it on to overcompensate for lack of flavour. The sausages were lovely, really flavoursome. We had a winter warmer drink which was possibly one of the nicest drinks I've ever had. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. It's a beautiful little cafe and I can see why it gets so busy. We will definitely be back soon!

We had just been walking and popped into Castleton for a nose. This was the first cafe we came across. The town was mobbed as was the cafe but the owner was on hand to organise everything and to make sure things ran smoothly , which it did. We had a couple of takeaway coffees and two totally delicious homemade coconut slices . The toilets were clean as was the cafe. Really great experience

Called in for breakfast, had full English which was presented lovely. Unfortunately the whole dish lacked flavour and the bread barely toasted. It all felt like it came out in a rush rather than everything being cooked a minute or 2 longer. Nice hot pot of tea and lovely to sit outside in the sunshine.

Stopped in for a coffee and light snack, never again at this cafe. One cappuccino was extremely bitter, scone was overcooked and dry, coconut slice was more or less flavourless an the crumpets were over toasted and hard around the edges. Brought the problem to the attention of the owner whose reply was you have eaten some so cannot refund you that but will refund the cappuccino as s gesture. Needless to say we will not be returning and definitely not recommend.

Cannot fault the place-the staff found us a table, even though it was very busy, even coming to wipe the table down before we got our food. I had the soup and a sandwich-spicy parsnip and a tuna mayo, both absolutely delicious. Husband had hot roast pork and chips-and said they were fantastic too. We were so impressed we took a pecan brownie and a spinach and feta pasty for later, and enjoyed both of those too. Will definitely come again, cannot fault anything

This place was busy which we took as a good sign...However the food was uninspiring and very average. The beef/gravy/ caramelised onion roll was overpriced and my cheese sandwich with coleslaw and side salad was dreadful. We have been visiting three roofs for years, eating there nearly every time we visit Castleton and have always had a lovely meal until today. I had a chicken, bacon, avocado and mayo sandwich which was 80% mayo and cheap spread and 20% scraps of chicken, bacon and avocado. All I could taste was mayo and it wasn’t nice mayo either. The only saving grace was the rustic bread it was served in and the salad which was really nice.

I've heard lots of good reports about Three Roofs Cafe so when looking for a venue for a special lunch with my mum, I decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. We both had the hot beef cobs with chips and gravy. They were delicious and excellent value. The only problem was they were such big portions that we were stuffed so didn't have any room for one of the delicious cakes. No problem - we took 5 away with us :/They've really taken Covid measures seriously here - right down to using paper plates and wooden cutlery. Being with my elderly mother this was a bonus as she felt reassured by the safety measures.I can't wait to go back on a sunny day, sit outside and watch the world go by.

We paid a lot of money for a salad each which was incredibly basic. £10 each. Drinks were very average and expensive also and the appalling cutlery in wood made us feel like we were tasting splinters, even though we accept that they weren't sharp, as such. Gave the meal a very unpleasant taste. Wooden forks are awful.£30 quid for 2 salads, 2 still waters and 2 coffees. We know it's Castleton but it's put us off going there again. The lady who seemed to be in charge was so curt about the new rules, even though tables were right next to each other outside.Terrible value.

We've been here a few times now. This time I had the meat and potato pie, it was amazing, so much lovely tender beef and the gravy was so tasty too with so much flavour. I asked for some tomato ketchup and some came in a little pot, the only thing I was disappointed with was the tomato ketchup quality, its a shame when you can get a decent bottle of tomato ketchup from somewhere like Aldi for less than a £1, perhaps this was some budget catering sauce. Nevertheless everything else was great. The service is excellent and so warm and friendly, its the little details you notice. Our order of coffee was misheard and a mocha was presented instead of the macchiato, it was replaced straight away with no issue, infact it was insisted we had the mocha also free off charge. The macchiato is traditionally a very small coffee, and it was presented with a glass of iced water, I thought this was a great touch and really went above and beyond. The coffee was lovely. We will be back again.

Great range of cakes as well as light meals, friendly and warm staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but worth every penny and the service was really good despite just a few staff and what seemed like an endless stream of punters! Fortunately, we got in and found a table straight away but it is not huge, the room is quite narrow and some people were waiting some time before being seated - this is not a criticism, merely an observation that the cafe is very popular and well situated - a victim of its own success perhaps!! Love it when you stumble on a place that surprises you by transforming the usual predictable café salad into something so delicious you want to lick the plate. The goats cheese slices on my salad were grilled to just the right level of golden, served with generous slices of soft warm homemade pita bread, sprinkled with hazelnuts, sundried tomato, olives, endless parsnip crisps and drizzled with honey and balsamic - fabulous! Needless to say I didn’t share. Cosy, friendly restaurant that caters for everyone.

The people who work here are friendly and provide great service, from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave. The food is delicious as is the coffee. Check it out if you’re in the area!

We were after a hot drink and something quick to eat on a stop in Glossop and I was certain we could find somewhere that wasn't the chain coffee shop when I saw this place. Really cute inside, lovely welcome, and lovely food. There are tons of veggie and vegan options. We just had breakfast but it was so nice! I'll be back!

We have been regular visitors to Hargreaves prior to Covid, it's our favourite eatery in Buxton and always look forward to our visit. We visited yesterday and what a disappointment. What was once an " Edwardian " tea room , now looks more like a works canteen. My favourite colour is green, but the plain painted walls in a drab olive colour just doesn't work especially with no prints to break it up. Tableclothes seem to have disappeared and the lighting looks awful. Oh and they have fallen into the trap of PC "Unisex" loos. Having said all that, the food was very good and the staff/service efficient and friendly. Sorry, these, I know, are difficult times and it is all a matter of personal taste, just not to ours. I wish them well but we will now have to seek out pasture new.

Food was decent but not worth £8 for a sandwich , when i entered the building we felt very unwelcomed , the staff kept giving us dirty looks. The woman at the bar asked us to repeat our order at least 8 times. Not a single smile in the whole premises , the staff looked depressed.
