Disapointing and V let down by v poor food. We ordered the £8+ baguettes with tuna salad filling, and expected a crusty, freshly baked baguette, which we assumed explained the more expensive price tag compaired with other rolls on offer at under 5.99. What arrived was a v poor pale white soft roll, no explanation, an indigestable pasty looking thing, with a few crisps on the side, a v small colslaw, and the meanest and most inadequate of roll fillings. This 'bread' was the cheapest one can buy, a bulk item ideal for storing in plastic bags as back up, plenty of preservatives on board. It was not a baguette, as it was neither freshly cooked, nor wholesome, nor crusty, nor anything but a thin pale brown cold skin on its surface, utterly unappetising. So why not just call it a roll i ask, and why use the term Baguette? And why not explain if you don't have it, and reduce the price? Profit. Ive taken the time to write this, because this cafe is housed inside a museum that is geared towards respecting and understanding heritage, and our relationship with the land. The slogans on the cafe wall read 'field to table' , suggestive of something nourishing and good perhaps. I quote from your own cafe website: "we are very proud of the sites we now operate, with each of them being quite unique, but all following the simple eithos of providing delicious, fresh food sourced locally or where possible made ourselves" So where has this cafe gone wrong. What we ate could have been sitting in a plastic bag, collecting microplastics, it was far from fresh, or delicious, this was not food. Actually 'Baguette' is a protected term in France, and the EU. In 2022 the traditional baguette achieved UNESCO world heritage status: and the law is v specific about what can be called a baguette legally, and cannot be mis-sold. The French are proud of their Baguette, while this cafe just thoughtlessly substitutes a rock bottom product, overcharges, and runs down the real thing. I don't know where this leaves this museum cafe, but it's quite clear that either the prices and descriptions need to reflect the substandard of what is sold, or the quality needs to be raised - i dont mind paying over £8 for a sandwhich if it is delicious. Making slogans on the wall a reality is hard work, and the values of such a museum reflect a respectfulness of other cultures eg French, not use them to mislable and hide the poorest of produce to charge more. It's such a pity, we won't be returning, probably like many locals who are looking for nice cafes to return over and over, to study, walk, improve our wellbeing and learn. This place lets the Castleton museum down. Just for the record, we are not looking for poor 1 hit wonders, i suspect given Castleton is a big tourism destination, this cafe relies on new customers, certainly reading the other reviews I don't see any attempt to address the situation. The offer and menu is misleading, and ultimatetly spoilt our trip out. Taking our money in this way, for such poor food, only gave me stomach ache and an unpleasant memory. Not all of us want to complain to the young staff on the counter who were friendly, and doing their best - this is not their fault. It's a management decision to prioritise penny pinching, and profit first before actually giving people the food they thought they had paid for.

Was a real relief to find this place before our 4 hours venture up the many hills surrounding Castleton. The latte and hot chocolate drinks we ordered were beautifully presented and the home made date cake was delicious; a real energy boost! About £11 which is reasonable for the area. Only criticism would be the lady who we placed our order with, seemed a little abrupt, no smile, my partner and I both felt she didn’t want to be there… otherwise a nice pit stop none the less.

Really disappointed with our visit here. We wanted to order a sandwich and beans on toast for our toddler. We're told we could only have the breakfast menu (it was 11:40) - it wasn't clear on the menu that the non breakfast food was only served after 12. After instead choosing breakfast food we received our order and again we were disappointed. The scrambled egg on toast was exceptionally dry. The vegan sausage sandwich had a butter / spread on the bread, luckily we are veggie and we couldn't face querying it with staff. The sausages were very dry and required copious amounts of sauce. All in all a disappointing experience. Such a shame as the cafe has signs telling you where they locally source all the ingredients from! The cafe itself was also clean, great especially when it's dog friendly!

I was with my daughter, who’d been to buy some Blue John earrings as a birthday gift, and we called in Blueberry Cafe for drinks. My daughter had tea and I had coffee. Although there was no soya milk, which is my preference in a latte, the oat milk alternative was very nice. There was a tempting selection of cakes but we managed to resist! Prices were very reasonable, especially for a tourist area when there can be a tendency towards inflated prices. This is a nice, modern clean-looking cafe which has an accessible toilet that was spotlessly clean. We couldn’t fault our visit.

This cafe is Ideally situated for those fortunate enough to secure a space in the car park, and walkers who have arrived by coach. Not an attractive establishment by any means it is unchanged for at least five decades. The service is what would be described today as entry level. I am not its target customer but the coffee is decent. I wouldn't be poaching any of the staff. However the service is acceptable. Times have changed here in Castleton and its no longer the genteel country village of my youth and now the space that this Café occupies in no longer adequate at certain times, with a huge number of overseas visitors, a huge contingent of dogs and a cacophony of noisy chatter echoes off the hard surfaces.

Reasonably priced cafe considering its location with friendly staff. I eat plant based food so it can be challenging to find none processed vegan food. Decided to try the spicy bean burger. It seemed the best value for money option, It came with a side salad & chips. The white flour bread bun could be swopped for sourdough or multigrain/seed (I dont eat white bread as its nutrionally void) the bean burger was really tasty & not too spicy, The salad had a lovely fresh light dressing & had sweetcorn, baby toms, red onion and a mixture of leafy greens. The chips were a little over cooked but nice & chunky. Overall I would purchased this meal again (under £10). It would be nice to see more whole foods/ bean salads/ buritto / falafal style options in general across the catering industry in the future as I limit the consumption of fake meats.

We’ve been to this cafe a couple of times now, always tying it in with a visit to the ‘visitor centre’ which essentially is a glorified gift shop. The cafe is nice, spacious (not toilets - these are in the outside public toilet block which I don’t like!). It does have baby changing facilities though. Note the opening hours are 09:30-16:00 which, when you arrive at 15:30 makes getting an order in & eating a tight turnaround! We had cake and also had ordered a bowl of chips - these took a long time and very much tasted like frozen chips just deep fried. Not very tasty. Cake and coffee were lovely though. Service was ok. No free wifi.

It's a shame that Castleton Visitor Centre have reduced, what was a very good small museum, to little more than a couple of display cases. However, the coffee shop which has filled much of the space where the museum used to be, is at least a good one, with enough space to accomodate a good number of people. The lady who served me was pleasant and friendly, and had I not recently had breakfast, I would have had something to eat with my coffee. As well as the large interior, there is also outdoor seating. A nice place to have a coffee while you admire the agricultural instruments, which were previously housed in the former museum.

The attempt and excellent service is evident, politeness, attention, friendlies, yes that was fine. I can only glean that on the day the chef and bartender, were struggling with a new computer system and aftermath of an inept temporary chef leaving the stocks low. The soup: the soup was delicious. We had to assume there was only a scraping left to serve as the portion, served in A finger bowl wouldn't have filled a mug. My Wife had to get pasty from Gregg's after just to feel like she'd actually had lunch. My All day breakfast, even with vegan sausages as there were no proper ones left, was delicious, the scrambled eggs were perfect but served without bacon. Just forgotten about completely. We weren't asked how our meal was, Probably embarrassment. My pint of cherry porter was gorgeous and my wife's cordial and soda was mixed properly a rarity in this day and age so a mixed bag of emotion. So why didn't we announce our qualms? Only one member of staff on, she was busy with other punters. And we needed to move on. So only 4 stars today.

Good selection of dishes on the menu. My wife and I each ordered one of the sausage and mash dishes. Got a choice of types of sausages, types of mashed spuds, and type of gravy. Food was delivered quite quickly and was absolutely delicious. Was a great pub to find and I would not hesitate to visit again next time we are back in the area.

We’d just had a doctor’s appointment and were looking for some late lunch at around 3pm on a weekday (Thursday). The staff were not actively unpleasant, but they surely were not friendly either- the level of service and welcome is much less than the other coffee shops in Glossop. We had the potato hash, which was very, very fatty - the hash is made of mince and usually ok, but this was very meat-heavy with very few veg, and it tasted overwhelmingly of liquid fat in the gravy. Having enjoyed it before, several times, this was diabolical - we’ll not be back. Especially as the food hygiene score has now fallen (currently a ‘4’). The service now became quite surly. By 4pm the staff lined up, clearly ready to go home. When asked, very nicely ‘are we keeping you from going home?’, they actually just said ‘yes’. No smile, no mitigation, no explanation, just ‘yes’. We drank our tea, paid, and left. There once was no competition in Glossop. Now there’s a lot, and that competition is friendlier, more welcoming, and- to be honest - seems cleaner also. And their food is now better also. We shan’t be back. This cafe does not deserve our business. I work really hard for that money and it can be better spent elsewhere.
