Rose Cottage Cafe in High Peak

Called here for my second visit recently, this time to try the breakfast menu. I had the full English breakfast which was absolutely delicious, could clearly tell that the produce was of high quality, not the cheap stuff you sometimes find on breakfasts. My other half had the RC royale which she said was amazing. Looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommended.

Our family had a fantastic evening meal here , relaxing in this cosy and tasteful independent bistro, we all chose something different each from the menu and every dish was beautifully presented, and delicious! The menu selection is different from the run of the mill dishes served in most places, which was so nice to see. Locally sourced meat from just over the hill in Edale was good to know and fish pie made to order and piping hot was yummy, home made chocolate fondant dessert is a showstopper. We will definitely be back, it’s rare these days to find somewhere so different and special as this place.

An amazing little cafe, looks absolutely beautiful and feels real cosy. Lovely staff and a lovely cute dog roaming around while we ate (not sure if this is normal, but we loved him/her) Would absolutely recommend this place. The food was perfect!

The veggie/ vegan breakfast was one sausage, a huge (tasteless) tomato, one hash brown and 3 small mushrooms, along with 2 mushy pieces of toast that are pre-buttered. Won't be going again. This place used to be great.

Had the best breakfast I've ever had here! Absolutely delicious. I am gluten free and asked for some alterations and additions to a dish which was no trouble at all. We had the vegetarian crumpet but made GF with extra bacon. Highly recommended. Very friendly service. Thank you very much.

We visited with family to celebrate grandma's birthday. Some of us had hot roast pork sandwiches, they came with a few roast potatoes, crackling and a little gravy, and other had shepherds pie, which came with a few roast veg and gravy, which was for two people to share. All very yummy! The staff were very friendly and the service was good. The pork was beautifully tender. It seems that the cafe has recently changed hands and been refurbished (very posh toilets). There is a lovely garden with tables and chairs at the back and speaking to the staff they have plans for further improvements with a covered area at the back. We can heartily recommend it :)

My partner and little boy went on a lovely Saturday afternoon and had our lunch in the gardens. Greeted by very friendly staff when we first arrived. We had a couple of coffees as well as the burger, ceaser salad and a kids chicken and chips. Will definitely be attending again with the family and for a couples afternoon.

Cracking little find. Had a magic steak, one of the finest I’ve ever had. Menu said it was from a local farm as well which is super cool.

Visited this place for some dinner and was not disappointed. Recently renovated and under new ownership you can tell it been done to a really high standard. The food was fantastic and the staff excellent from the minute I walked through the door until the minute I left. Would highly recommend if visiting Castleton.

We called for lunch today myself my partner , mum and sister . after seeing new owners sign and picture of the garden terrace. We then found out it was a soft opening as it was the 4/5 day of reopening . The whole experience was fantastic , the food , service and atmosphere were great . The young lady ( her first day ) was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and professional. Thank you to you all as the food was delicious and very good value for money . The place is delightful, good luck for the future as we will definitely be back with friends .

I should have read the previous reviews as they were accurate about everything ….rude staff….yes.overpriced?…..OhYes.Poor quality…yup…….hot drinks not hot….yup.I could go on.I really do not like giving poor reviews to local businesses but I will say this.There are so many cafes and pubs and restaurants in Castleton,don’t waste your money here.It seems they don’t need it

We arrived late afternoon after a few days away for Chatsworth and a hike in the local area before heading home to the North East. They could only offer hot drinks and cake at that time of the day, but we had a really good quality Americano (and piping hot / much needed after a day out in the Peaks) plus a large slab of lemon drizzle cake. I’d initially been disappointed as they didn’t have scones, but this really hit the spot. The staff were very nice and directed us to a table next to a radiator so we could thaw out. Very pleasant and fuelled us up for the journey home.

Went on a recommendation for a breakfast the time was 11:25 I was told I could not have a breakfast as they had stopped serving. 11:30 is cut off time. Understandable that the chef may not be happy but I was a paying customer and I was there before cut off time.

We stopped here a couple of times the first was a damp, cold but dry Tuesday we had been to Treak Cliff Cavern and walked into Castleton for a wonder round and to stop for hot drinks. We found ourselves at Rose Cottage, received a warm and friendly welcome, great service. We enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate and shared a piece of carrot cake - couldn't have eaten a whole slice! I did think it was rather expensive cake was £4.95 and coffee was £3.50 for a small cup but having said that everything was delicious especially the carrot cake.

Whenever we go to Castleton we always book to come here. The staff are lovely, the food is excellent and there is amazing atmosphere. Would never dream of booking anywhere else. A joy to visit!

Big shout out to Angela our host and the team at Rose Cottage. The customer service for my group booking was second to none. We did pre-order and made many changes (sorry Chef), but the team managed the changes with absolutely no objections. The outside space is so pretty, it was just what we needed after our sunrise walk - finished off our meeting perfectly. Highly recommend. Hope to see you all again soon.

Today, in need of coffee I decided to visit the Rose Cottage Café. Never having visited this establishment before, I was struck by the ambiance and the well kept interior. The atmosphere was genial and welcoming and the service impeccable. As it was such a wonderful day, I opted to sit outside in the patio area with a wooden roof for cover. There are further tables offering the real al fresco experience which was pretty full. Further still is a very lovely lawned area for those who would rather separate themselves from the ladies wot lunch. The coffee was excellent and though I didn't order this time from a professional view point, it did appear to be of the best quality and well presented. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend this establishment as a must visit, while you're in the Peaks. Though I didn't order food on this occasion, I will be back in the near future to sample the breakfast I'm sure
