We found this little gem on our home from Buxton, Drinks are at a very competitive price and of good quality. We had food one Sunday roast and a chicken burger, the food came piping hot the roast beef(3slices) came with real mash, cabbage, peas, carrots and a Yorkshire pudding with a nice amount of gravy, Originally I ordered a double cheese burger but the lady came round and said the chef would not do one as was not happy with the quality and was offered a chicken burger instead, again this came out beautifully cooked loaded with a salad and with a side of real chips. The staff were friendly and polite and answered any questions we had. In all we definitely will return when we have the opportunity, and may be even camp there as it seems they also cater for motorhomes, caravan and camping

Literally my favorite campsite! Been coming here since I was about 17. I'm 36 now! I intend to keep coming here as long as I can. All the stuff recognize me when I turn up. The last time I came someone said. Last time you was here for a week 😜. I love it so much. The food is fantastic and everyone is amazing. Only an hour is drive from where I live. But I feel like I'm a million miles away. Just how I like it!

This is - I think - my favourite pub in the whole wide world! It is like stepping back in time - in a good way! The staff are amazing. The beer is good. And the food is excellent. Dark and dingy, in need of a good scrub. We ate here yesterday and all i can say is AVOID this pub for food. When our roast dinner came we all said that our roast potatoes were rock hard, little to no vegetables (4 sliced carrots on each of our plates, the roast beef was like shoe leather to the point that our poodle even struggled to eat it. My daughters pizza was not cooked and the home made chips were overdone, very, very poor to think that our bill came to £90 pounds. look elsewhere for food don't waste your hard earned money.

A lovely spot to enjoy a pint or a meal outdoors. We ordered Scampi, Chicken Tikka, Spicy Chicken Burger and a vegetarian dish. The food was very well-prepared, but the chips were disappointing. All 4 meals came with chips, which were unfortunately soggy and appeared either refried or left out for a while. When the young server asked how our food was, we mentioned that everything was good except for the chips. We expected him to inform the chef and address the issue, but all we received was an weak apology.

We have just visited your campsite and your pub. We were happy with the campsite, although it was more expensive than we usually pay, but as we are from Spain where things are generally cheaper (we would normally pay €23 euros ). We realise that things are more expensive in the Uk, what we were disappointed at the wifi coverage only working when you were in the bar. Unfortunately we have Spanish SIM cards in our phones which don’t have data roaming, so we need wifi to connect to the internet.

Recently visited this charming pub again in the peak district. It is what we would class as a "proper pub"- great selection of well kept real ales, great staff ( particularly Jan) and good pub food, not overpriced either considering it is in the heart of the peak district, where others have over priced their menu for the tourists. Its got charm too, and clearly well supported by local trade too. These pubs need support!! Particularly after being kicked repeatedly by the authorities during the last 3 years of what must have been hospitality hell. Well done Waterloo. We shall be back next time we visit and thanks for a lovely dinner. Jo and Nick x

What a find! Staying in Hartington we googled pubs near us and this gem was top of the list. The landlady was brilliant and her hospitality, beer, and food were fantastic. As she put it 'we're a pub that sells food, not a restaurant that sells beer!' Long may it continue Waterloo, a great proper boozer with rustic charm, great ale and food and impeccable hospitality, 10 out of 10, we'll be back, thank you. Nick and Jo. Revisited today, just over a year later, great ales, and a proper pub atmosphere, we love this place.

Staying local so went to Waterloo In for Sunday Roast. We are not fussy eaters but the roast was the worst we'd had. 2 small roast potatoes, tiny bit of mash, lots of peas with a slithering of white cabbage, 2 frozen yorkshires impossible to cut and beef, tough and couldn't cut with the knife supplied. So disappointed. Left most of it. Website advertised £10.95 but charged £12.95. I hope their weekday meals are better but for a Sunday roast I felt robbed.

Pub itself is small so need to book for food, all the staff are really nice n friendly and the food is to die for, it's superb, proper chips, not out the bag, melt in the mouth fish, hot double spicy chicken burger, game pie, sausage of the week which changes, also has Quorn option, Belgian waffle n ice-cream with toffee sauce, apple crumble n custard, good portions sizes aswell. Couple of real ales on also which change, pub is also dog friendly ( not that we have dog ) . Will definitely be returning.

Yeah it's was alright I'd go again. We stopped in our small camper for the night. It was £25 for one night and then you had to buy your food aswell which is strange as most pubs I know just make you buy some grub and booze from the pub so it's a costly night stay or it could be after a few to many 🤣. Apart from that it was decent food and the facilities were clean.

Definitely not a 4.5 rating. We was staying in the area at a cottage. Wanted somewhere to go for tea on our first night here. Mmm both my husband and I had the steak pie with chips with veg. The pie tastied as if it was made then shoved in the microwave as the pastry was weird. Chips were OK but anaemic. Broccoli and carrots were aldente but hard and dried up. Best part was the peas. My daughters scampi was good but can't go wrong with that I suppose. Rather put a damper on the start of the holiday. Best part of the evening was the beer festival so my husband had a few beers. Won't be returning for food anyway in the future.

Lovely evening meal sat outside in the sunshine. We had booked in advance. The food was standard pub fare. Tasty and served hot. The most impressive part of the meal was the service. Orders taken just at the right time, meals arriving without us having to wonder what was happening to the order, timely clearing of plates between courses. If only everywhere we ate out had service like this! The mains portions were very generous, so my son and I could not manage a pudding. My husband managed to find room for what he described as a particularly nice apple crumble.

Traditional pub in a lovely setting serving excellent pub food at a good price. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and a big thanks to them & the chef who managed to fit us in for meals even though we were after the cut off time on Fri and again when they were already fully booked on Sat. (Should have pre booked early I know!) Both meals were great. We stayed in the campsite at the rear of the pub using the pub, which has all the facilities you need (shower room, washing up area, water, electric hook up & use of the pub toilets - basic but adequate and clean).
