Tasty breakfast we came here twice after being disappointed with the offerings from the on-site café at the campsite we stayed on. well cooked food and good menu choices. Good value. only slight criticism was quite a long wait for our food but may have been down to fewer staff on one day. will return.

Only decaffeinated coffee is available, but good gluten-free carrot cake.

We arrived to have breakfast after a lovely stay in Buxton at 11:15am on Sunday Morning 22/09. The cafe closes at 12:30pm. It was busy but we were told they were 'cutting it for today' Highly disappointed as this doesn't reflect their opening times.

First time visit as was in the area Food was awful eggs were black on the bottom from the cooking surface Ordered 2 full breakfasts with toast and tea Breakfast served with no toast or tea Ate half the breakfasts and then toast and tea turned up Overall terrible experience and £24.50p bill ! Be warned !

Stopped in for the full English breakfast and was not disappointed. Portions were massive and price was very good. Friendly staff. A great place to stop in for a meal

I went in, it was empty, there was like only a group of two in there and it was around 1:00 and as soon as I walk in a man shouted they were full and told us to leave, so I'm not really happy, unless they were gonna be a massive group of people coming in, but it was empty when I came in so not impressed

AVOID!!! If I could leave 0 stars I would, honestly the most awful experience I have ever had in an eating establishment. The server was drunk, looked like she had started work straight from a night out. Her pinnafore was absolutely filthy and I saw her wipe her nose with her hand and wipe it on her clothes whilst preparing drinks etc multiple times. My pot of tea arrived in a stained teapot with chips alover it and food on the top of it, the mug wasn't much better. Then asked for a takeaway cup to pour the tea into, that had dirt/dust on the inside so decided to just not bother. I went safe with a toasted teacake after taking in the surroundings. It was very stale and dry as though it was old or had come straight from the freezer. I had to pull out a hair from the butter before I could butter the teacake.

Found this place by accident when looking for a takeaway lunch. Friendly service and excellent freshly prepared food. Relaxed ambience. Will return next time we're in Buxton

Stumbled in by accident looking for a quick sandwich after a morning walk. We were originally going to take away but the food was super quick so we ate in. Staff were super friendly as were the locals sitting inside. They've got a box of toys for little ones which kept my son nice and busy - felt very family friendly.

A great cafe for traditional and varied breakfast with friendly staff, chatty and accommodating owner, tasty food, and a relaxing unhurried atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Quite an eye opener when I visited this place, not just the waiting time for something simple but the owner appeared to be sat drinking alcohol at the front of house then hiding the bottle of gin behind the sofa as though no one could see 🙈 she also went to clear a table and saw her eating the leftovers from someone else plate 😳 before she staggered off to the kitchen ( absolutely disgusting ) she looked very scruffy and unprofessional I wouldn't recommend this place needs shutting down

Excellent menu catering for dietary needs - wonderful gluten free breakfast including gluten free sausages.

Nipped in to get a cob to eat in the park, won't be doing again! £7.50 sweaty cheese and wafer thin ham! Not even going to eat it! Absolutely disgusting

A lovely cafe in the heart of Buxton serving home cooked food. Avocado and bacon were great. Nice friendly staff.

Decided to stop for breakfast on way home, asked a taxi driver for recommendation and he said this place, without hesitation. He was right, it's fabulous! Friendly staff, great service, and such delicious food. Definitely recommend!

I have previously given this establishment a 5 star review a few years ago but sadly the standards have significantly declined to such a point that after my most recent visit I will no longer be eating here. I took my wife and our daughter for a breakfast as a treat before a day out, the lady serving and cooking smelt very strongly of alcohol and was rude and abrupt when taking our order, so much so that my 13 year old noticed. Two other tables were ignored and left without ordering as we waited and the lady even argued with another customer who was trying to complain about something, its worth mentioning that the café was not busy at this point.. When our order was brought to our table I noticed the lady serving us was less than clean and hygienic. Her shirt and jeans were filthy as were her fingernails, I watched her for a while cooking other peoples food and I never once saw her wash her hands despite going from handling raw meat to toast and other cooked foods, as well as touching her face and mouth repeatedly. The back door was open with a large uncovered tray of bacon that was just sat there the entire time that we were in there. I had a full English breakfast, the egg was rock hard and the beans were stone cold. My daughter ordered a hot chocolate and the servers hand was so unsteady that she spilled it all over the table as she put it down, she apologised then just walked away, I had to mop it up myself and my daughter had half a cup of hot chocolate rather than a full one. In the past I had been a regular customer here and after not eating here for a couple of years I had been really looking forward to what used to be an amazing café and breakfast spot. I was really disappointed. Also the price on the menus do not include VAT, so when you get to the till to pay there is a significant increase in the prices stated on the menu. This is the first time I have ever encountered this in a café and I feel it was misleading. It may mention this on the menus but I never saw it at the time of ordering. I have asked around and I have many friends who have had similar experiences here recently. It is really sad to see as it used to be the place to get the best breakfast in town.

Excellent. Found it by accident whilst visiting the market and can't fault it. Great menu with a good selection of food and drink. We had the full English and omelette, both were superb - obviously freshly cooked and done really well. The pot of tea for 2 was proper Yorkshire teabags too. Definitely will be back.

Unfortunately we did not stay for food as the menus were stained with food and grubby and the staff seemed very disorganised. We have always loved the food here but on this particular day it really did seem to be a catalogue of errors. I wondered why we were able to get a seat so easily as the cafe was less than half full on a busy Saturday lunch!! Think it will be sometime before we return sadly.

Omg!!!! What has happened to this place!!! Waited 20 minutes to get our brews & they had not even started our food order wasn’t even busy…… does not help when the owner (Jo) is steaming drunk, staggering all over the place, can’t focus and slurring her words at 11am !!!! Feel so sorry for the young girls having to deal with all of the this. Definitely will not be coming back ever again!!!!

Amazing ladies , the cafe was great ,clean ,staff that go above and beyond with no problems, I’ve been before but there was a lovely shift in atmosphere and the new chef was amazing her cooking and infectious personality Donna her name was absolutely fab.

Claiming to be homemade food and after ordering proceeded to go to the shops to buy Frozen ingredients to put in the microwave. After waiting for 25mins gave us the wrong order and was unable eat as there was an allergen present. One of the staff members was quite rude. I did get a refund but all round bad vibes.

Would not recommend as we waited over 40 minits for our breakfast also 2 of the 3 breakfasts we ordered came back wrong the hash browns were swimming in grease, the lattes was freezing cold as was the breakfast that were wrong , and to top it all the tall girl had an attitude that absolutely stunk and would most definitely be more at home working at karens diner ..the young girl was being spoken to in not a very nice way by the tall girl never going here again avoid avoid avoid

We found the Tradesman’s Entrance almost by accident while searching for our wedding anniversary breakfast and we’re so glad we did. The food (full English for him and oatcakes for me) was excellent and it is run by the loveliest people imaginable. Definitely one to recommend. By the way- the black pudding garnish was donated from my husband’s full English!

We visited for a Mothering Sunday breakfast after staying in Buxton. Our first impressions were of a cozy, comfy welcoming little eatery. We ordered our breakfast and waited. Now here's where the 4 star rating comes in. Unfortunately, our order got somehow confused and a couple of mistakes crept in, nothing big but things like no egg was ignored and our toast didn't come out with the breakfast. As I say not biggies, just slightly annoying. Onto the positives ... the food was delicious, the staff friendly and in our case apologetic. The owner even gave our 9 year old a complimentary lolly, which went a huge way to saying sorry for their mistakes. The cozy environment was really welcoming too. As I say it would be a full 5 stars if not for the unfortunate bits of service. I'm sure this was a one of mistake.

Your chef Frank was brilliant, when we arrived he was on his own. He had a steady flow of customers. His customer care was superb and his food was delicious. Frank is a credit to your business. Date of visit 26/02/24. We shall be visiting again. 5 Star. Mick, Margaret & Gemma.

Friendly welcoming cosy and quite simply the best breakfast and lattes by far within Buxton. You can never find anything negative to say . I always feel welcome and happy here. It really helps me with my mental health state, and everyone here always cheers me up when I'm feeling down. I always leave as a friend as well as a customer. The nice staff are always positively minded and comical which is helpful and keeps me feeling calm and all staff here are always happy while they work I'm so glad this place is still going strong as ever. Buxton will never be same without it...

I called in with the intention of buying a breakfast to eat in...Lady approached me with a menu ....I explained what I wanted, she said she would need to come back to me as others were waiting .....I waited 10 minutes, 2 lads came in ......after me ??... Person from behind the counter took their order, .....I left ......you need to be looking at what order people come through the door and serve them in turn !! Disappointing service !

Love this place - it looks very unprepossessing on the outside, but you’re missing a trick if you don’t go in! Really excellent choice of food, and has lots of veggie/vegan options too. They’re very accommodating if you want to substitute menu items, and don’t make you feel like you’re being awkward, the portion sizes are great, the prices very fair, and the staff are lovely (and bonkers - in a good way!) We’ve been about 4 times over the last couple of months and have not had a duff plate of food. Would definitely recommend :-)

We’ve been to this place 4 times over a couple of months and haven’t had a bad meal there :-) There is a really great choice of all sorts of menu items, all of which appear to be made on the premises to order, which is no mean feat for the chap in the kitchen, and they’ve all been delicious. The portion sizes are really generous, and the “extra value” on each plate is obvious - you don’t just get a basic plate of food - there has obviously been care and thought. They’re also very accommodating if you want to teak your order a bit, and don’t make you feel like you’re being a nuisance. They’ve got a great selection of veggie/vegan food too. The staff are lovely, really helpful, friendly, absolutely bonkers (in a good way!) I’ve seen a couple of the same people eating there when we’ve been so they’re obviously popular with regulars, and the staff treat them like old friends which is lovely to see. It looks so unprepossessing from the outside, but you’re missing a trick if you don’t try it - would definitely recommend:-)

After walking in to 3 dirty tables, 3 mins of waiting for one to be cleaned and ignored by a woman on her phone, we just sat down and moved the plates to the end of the table. The plates were moved but the table wasn’t wiped for us. My friend ordered a baguette and there was fluff that I picked off it for her. The woman that brought the baguette to the table (looks like the manager) touched my friend’s food because it rolled over on the plate and she touched it to roll it back, she was filthy and unhygienic I’m sorry to say, she should not be working in a food setting. She also complained to us that she never gets a day off and how her staff is late - I hold my hands up if I’m presumptuous here but also appeared to have had some alcohol in her system, I have seen other reviews that said the same thing. There was bickering going on in the back because a member of staff was late and there were open tax letters just sat there at the tills for people to see! I didn’t know where to put my eyes to be honest. The male cook in the back was eating food himself while also preparing other peoples food with no gloves and without washing his hands. The whole place just screams hygiene issues and I honestly feel ill after eating there. The 2 front of house girls were LOVELY and apologised for us waiting after being ignored by the manager woman (who was back and forth scrolling on her phone on a table near the front). Those girls would benefit working in a place that appreciates them. Awful experience and I can’t believe the hygiene issues here. I very rarely make complaints but honestly I’m in shock at this cafe.

Wonderful food. We had a full fry up & the idea to add oatcakes is amazing! Delicious! The girls who served us were really lovely & the lady who cooked our breakfast chatted with us. A lovely warm welcome with amazing food!!

Absolutely fantastic place! Freshly cooked, delicious food at a very reasonable price. There is so much choice on the menu and it all sounded delicious.. we were very pleased with what we chose. The service was brilliant, so friendly and welcoming and they are super dog friendly. They made our lunch stop off a really lovely experience. Thank you so much, you are a wonderfully kind lady!

had a home delivery of 2 Sunday dinners and have to say it was delicious and plentiful will definitely have again the bubble & squeak was lovely the chicken melted in my mouth

We went in at the end of last week, the two young girls serving were lovely and polite so none of this is their fault, but the woman cooking (jo) was quite obviously drunk, most of the food on our plates was either hugely undercooked or completely burnt to the point we couldn't eat it. She was staggering around and slurring her words. It is such a shame as the tradesmans was our favourite place to go but we won't be returning now until things improve.

Very friendly, kind staff who helped me in with my suitcase. Received a lovely hot cup of tea and given a throw to put over me as I was cold. Was also given a free tea cake to eat. Quirky interior. Well equipped toilet.

Great food! Theres vegetarian and vegan options as well which were great! Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had children with us and they offered books, toys for the children to play with while waiting for our order.

Absolutely lovely cafe this is my second time to Buxton and I knew I would be coming back here. Such a lovely friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome, staff are lovely and very friendly always going above and beyond for their guests. 10/10 café it's a must visit if you come to Buxton

Cracking little cafe which seems to get the balance right between a traditional cafe and more modern 'continental style' cafe. Prices seem very reasonable compared to a lot of the others in Buxton and the young woman who served me was very friendly. The fact that you can 'mix and match' the breakfast items was a plus. Me and my wife were staying overnight in Buxton and neither us know the town but I think we made the right choice choosing this place for breakfast

Great breakfast freshly cooked using local products and to top it off a proper mug of tea will be my choice of eating when visiting Buxton again

We got two vegan breakfasts. Really nice and large portions. I highly recommend going here for breakfast but it's busy, we got the last table on a Saturday morning so get there early. You can also get takeaway food. The coffee was delicious and the staff were friendly. Can't ask for more

Beautiful decor, fantastic value and large portions. They are very accommodating such as in the breakfast being able to make substitutions. Quality of the food was great and staff were happy to have a laugh and chat. Definitely coming back.

Really friendly cafe, lots of choice and the food is made from scratch, very tasty and fresh, the staff couldn't be more friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The kids were also given free fruit and a lollipop at the end of our meal. Good value for money and we look forward to visiting again

Went for breakfast and had a lovely meal. Plenty of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Generous and well cooked and presented portions. Gather they are also planning to do cocktails!

My husband and I had a lovely teacakes with butter and jam and the pot of tea for two was one of the best cuppa's we have ever had. Stopped by for 2 full English’s and coffees. Great value, friendly polite staff who were happy to offer directions and travel information to tourists. Lots of parking available with 40mins free just outside the cafe. Service was fast so parking charges weren’t a concern. Would come back.

I ordered two breakfasts to go, and when i got back and opened them everytbing was spilled everywhere, and the liquid from the beans was spilled out the side of the container. The food itself wasnt bad just not worth the £17 i spent on it. Expected better.

Nice place. The food was plentiful and the service friendly. They are willing to vary the menu if the customer asks, so that was helpful.

Lovely cup of tea but that's about as lovely as it gets. The lady cook was continuously having a go at the new male server. All I could hear throughout my meal was constant bickering (mainly from her) felt rather sorry for the male server to be honest. My breakfast was rather average with cold mushrooms and burnt sausage.

What a gem of a place. Huge menu, and even bigger portions. Very friendly, & helpful with menu choices. Leave room for the delicious cake, & scones. Best, fresh coffee in Buxton too. Just been a second time, and still impressed. If I lived in Buxton, I would be a regular visitor.

Lovely cafe and great staff. Highly recommended. Difficult decision between the Soup and Panini, tried both and the Soup was the winner. All the food/drinks were great and a nice firendly atmosphere. Will return soon.

Food came out barely warm. Service was very hit and miss. Food was spilt from plate as it was placed on table. Only half cup of tea served and it was not in the price of a large breakfast.

Visited Sunday morning for breakfast, the cafe was quite cold, the breakfast not much warmer, the worst thing was another customer opposite, he was continually going to the toilet, he had a full breakfast and every so often he would take his shoes and socks off and rub his feet and in between his toes and continued eating, his feet stank, i thought it was disgusting, completely put me off my breakfast, never again

Really lovely cafe we found last minute in the town centre of Buxton. They had a great menu selection and we opted for a full English breakfast with a tea and mocha. The staff were super nice and accommodating. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Great cafe by the market place. The Yorkshire pudding wraps were delicious...we tried the chicken with stuffing and the beef with mushrooms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our baby and toddler.
