Lovely little cafe. Food was great and owner was helpful. Will be visiting again and recommending to friends and family!

Nice cafe in the lovely village of Hope. We only had coffee but it was very good. Would stop here again.

We went to Castleton for a walk today and popped into courtyard cafe for some food before we set off. The new owners are absolutely lovely, really friendly and welcoming! The food is great and service very efficient. Good fuel for our walk and definitely goes down well with a coffee! Both left really happy, great visit today will definitely be coming back again!

Just visited since the new owners took over. Fantastic friendly staff, brilliant with my 3 year old, beautiful setting and amazing food. Cannot fault this place at all and can't wait to return. Highly recommended 🥪☕

We visited this cafe on a walk from castleton, with our 2 pooch’s. We originally was going to get a take-away coffee as one of our dogs is known to be a barker and very insettled in unfamiliar settings. The kind lady in the cafe invited us in and made our anxious pooch very welcome - and in fact he settled very well! This really made our day! We had 4 coffee’s and 4 cakes - coffee’s were lovely and hot and the cakes extremely tasty! The food menu looked lovely and when we return we’ll be sure to give some food off the menu a try!

We were greeted by really friendly and welcoming staff. Had a delicious lunch - our sandwiches and salad were made to order, fresh, innovative and delicious. Great coffee, recommend the Railway coffee which reminded me of Vietnam since it's made with sweetened condensed milk. I'd highly recommend you pop in here in you're in Hope.

When visiting hope we highly recommend the courtyard cafe. Friendly welcome, lovely food and on a sunny day the rear seating area is a must for a peaceful rest and a coffee.

Wow. What a fantastic welcome! Followed by fantastic food and drink. All washed down with a little sunshine. I can highly recommend. I had avocado in toast with scrambled egg and bacon with a side of hash browns. Best scrambled egg I’ve had in ages.

After a walk along Losehill and Mam Tor, those expended calories will need replacing and this will offer many choices to help you. Service was fantastic, friendly and accommodating despite being very busy. The biscotti Freakshake was amazing.

Just had a really yummy lunch after a long walk. Super friendly staff and pleasant courtyard. I had the tuna melt which was really good and comes with coleslaw and salad. My hubby had tuna sandwich which was packed full and very tasty. Lovely lunch and great selection of cakes and drinks. We will be back.

I ordered 2 sandwiches to take away for lunch, a tuna mayonnaise and a ham salad. The total was £12.40. I nearly dropped through the floor, I couldn't believe they are charging £6.20 per sandwich. I really want to know how they can justify these prices for 2 slices of bread and small amount of filling?! I will not be going back to this location again!

We stayed for a week in The Hope Valley and had lunch here three times. Not posh, just good quality lunchtime fayre. Sit in the conservatory or out in the garden. A great atmosphere and service. We loved it.

Lovely little Cafe in a courtyard off the main road, makes it a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy a coffee and cake especially after a long walk. Good selection of cakes and slices. Very smiley staff. Covid signage well placed and made me feel safe to be there.

Stopped here after a wild camp out near Win Hill and the two ladies running the spot were incredible. Vegan options across the board (vegan sausge breakfast roll was tasty) and really yummy coffee. Top marks!

Visited for lunch with a small group of cyclists. Service was prompt and friendly. My avocado and poached eggs on sour dough bread was delicious, well presented and good value. Good Covid procedures with one way system, gel and staff wearing masks.

We visited after doing a nearby walk and were impressed by the reception we received here. The COVID compliance was good with plenty of social distancing and staff ensuring that everyone complied. Four of us called in on a wet day. We were welcomed very warmly and we followed hot drinks with a light lunch and followed that with cakes - so much choice, and the three I tasted were delicious. Recommended!

Having completed my walk up Win Hill I was quite hungry and popped in for some lunch. Very nice cafe with friendly staff. The fish finger sandwich was like a doorstep. Very filling and warming which was just the job after a cool autumnal walk....

We called here for breakfast on both days of our camping trip to hope. The full English is a good size, reasonably priced and comes with lovely bloomer bread toast. We also called in for coffee and cake one afternoon and we really enjoyed that too - the coffee is really good and the cake was lovely and a really generous portion! We were going to eat in a different cafe down the road but found that too full and noisy - really glad we found this place - nice and relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming too.

We know one of the owners and this is why we wanted to come in and see the cafe. It was a nice area, meaning both the village and the cafe. I had a brownie, it was delicious. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a chocolate brownie. The seating plan was good, with seats inside and outside. I liked that because then people can have a preference of where they would like to sit. I’m trying not to be biased, but we had a nice time in there and I couldn’t fault it at all. The only thing is, I just wish we got to go again, because I loved it. Keep working hard Pete and Dave, you’re both doing so well!

Discovered this place by accident after visiting Bolsover Castle - very noisy with other people in (locals seem to like it). Tasty food & great service.

what is there not to like. Artisan bread, food very well presented, coffee is amazing and large coffee is definitely large. Water bowls for dogs. This is a gem of a cafe with natty shops close by. The week before when I was in Hope I had breakfast at the Grasshopper Cafe around the corner, which was good, however, this time I noticed the Courtyard Cafe tucked away in the....well, courtyard. The place has a lovely fresh and clean feel to it and the owners were lovely and welcoming. I ordered a bacon butty and was expecting the typical bog standard bacon on a barm but was so thrilled to get delicious bacon on some super soft bloomer bread...it was absolutely lovely. The coffee was delightful too and I think I'm running out of superlatives.Next time in the area I will definitely be coming here again as this isn't the best cafe in Hope, possibly in the whole of the Hope Valley.

Had several visits over the last week to this awesome cafe in Hope, service is outstanding with everyone so friendly and attentive, very comfortable seating areas in & outside, dog friendly as for the food, outstanding, no complaints if I could give this place more than the allowed 5* I would, thanks Guys from Eddie & Holly

We came here for lunch on a lazy, rainy day during a recent stay in Hope. The café was pretty much empty but we put this down to the weather, and the fact it was midweek after a bank holiday (I guess we were the only ones lucky enough to still be on holiday!). I imagine on busy days it would be quite a squeeze inside. I ordered a tuna mayo jacket potato which came piled high and with a good-sized side salad - it was tasty and filling. My boyfriend had tomato and basil soup with huge slices of fresh granary bread, which I'm told was lovely! We also had hot chocolate which was decent. It's not my favourite café in Hope, but the food was generous and tasted good so I certainly have no complaints.

The most welcoming and friendly staff we met during our walking break in Hope/Castleton. Excellent value for money, good down to earth food cooked to order, dog friendly with dog treats on tap. Basically a brilliant place to head for if you want coffee, cakes, breakfast, lunch or light meals.

I visited here for a breakfast sandwich and cuppa with 15 friends before a walk up Lose Hill. We were greeted in a friendly manner, orders taken efficiently despite our, unannounced, numbers. The sandwiches were served in a timely manner on good quality white or granary bread with a generous amount of filling.

After a walk around Derwent reservoir we were in need of some refreshments and we stumbled across The Courtyard Cafe.The Cafe was busy but we were quickly seated by the friendly staff.We ordered Panini’s chips and coffee and all the food came out piping hot and fresh.The food and drinks were good quality and at a very reasonable price.I would highly recommend this cafe for a quick lunch or tea.

Quite a nice hidden treasure, in small souvenirs shops, or cuppa and cake in this little courtyard. We loved it.

Popped in today after a ride around the Peak District. It was getting on, just before 2pm. Had a quick browse of the menu and decided on the fish finger sandwich and a large latte. The latte was a very generous large, much needed. The fish finger sandwich was quite delicious. Thick white bread, a basic side salad and a small jar of crisps on the side. Accompanied by a lovely little pot of tartare sauce. A good sized portion, just what was needed.

Visited this lovely little café with my Mum today after asking for recommendations from friends of somewhere we could go to cheer ourselves up on the 2 year anniversary of losing my Dad. Arrived in sunshine after a scenic drive through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside from Sheffield and were made welcome as soon as we entered. We had a couple of paninis, swapping halves so we could try both the brie and cranberry and the bacon and chicken, and both were delicious. The very helpful owners were also happy to give us a paper bag so my mum could take half of hers home as she was too full to finish it. We were also too full for cake, so will have to return to try that! Very glad we made the effort to find this lovely place.

Stumbled across this delightful cafe at the weekend. Coffee and cake were very good the staff are friendly and cheerful. Dog friendly so will be going back when out walking, the Breakfasts being served to the other tables looked large and good value.

We were on the hunt for a big breakfast when we found the Courtyard Cafe. It's served until 12, and is huge. The service was really quick and the food was lovely. I'd definitely visit again.

Visited the courtyard cafe in hope this morning and can’t recommend this place enough, we are camping in the local area and went in for breakfast, it was cooked perfectly and we were welcomed as a family with our dog also, we will be back,many thanks to the team there are not enough places like this around.

The coffee is really good! But so is the gluten-free cake and the sandwiches. Then there’s the choice of seating: indoors, outdoors at tables and an outdoor lounging area. The staff are very helpful too. Well worth a visit!

New owners David and Pete have made a great start. The cafe looks very fresh and clean, bright and airy. The attractive quiet courtyard, away from the road, has access for bicycles and there's plenty of seating. Service is friendly and welcoming. I noticed how clean the tables are; I like cafes where dirty dishes are cleared away quickly. We've had dessert and the baking is excellent. The meals look lovely too. I wish the new owners all the best with their venture.

Visited this lovely cafe today for lunch which didn't disappoint. Fantastic food, good portion size and great value for money. Very friendly service and our dogs were made to feel as wecome as we were when provided with a water bowl and treats. Clean and tidy facilities, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I will definitely return to this gem of a cafe!

We visited with friends for coffee who live in the village and they recommended the coffee, we were not disappointed. Coffee was excellent as were the toasted teacakes and cake.

Had a lovely lunch here on a Saturday - it’s a very popular place with plenty of seating inside and outside. We each had a sandwich which were both very generous- one was a chicken sandwich which had plenty of filling and the other was a steak sandwich with chips which was lovely. We also had tea for two but it was quite a small pot for two people. The staff were very friendly and the cafe has a lovely atmosphere.

Cannot recommend this lovely cafe enough. Easily accommodated our large dog Archie in the lovely spacious courtyard, provided water bowl & owners came out to make a fuss & give dog biscuits. You won’t be disappointed with the gorgeous home baked cake either. Easily the most welcoming, good value food & drink in the area. So good we went to Hope 3 times just to go to this cafe tucked down a side alley out of the way & nice & tranquil. Look forward to going again when next on hol!

Out with my partner and our 3 children . Stumbled upon the courtyard cafe . The staff were wonderful and the cakes were amazing, our children were welcomed with such warmth - not typical of cafes in the area . Definitely visit there again and again. New owners too - well done gents

Had heard about the coffee here and decided to visit. My wife and I found ourselves more interested in the food . The coffee was cafeology, which was made so well but the cakes were stunning. We stayed for a few hours to have a few samples. To summarise - coffee 5 star cake 10 star service 20 star

A hidden gem! Had been out walking with my parents and got a hankering for coffee and cake (as you do) came upon this little cafe, tucked down a little side way. Friendly staff, amazing food, timely service, wonderful coffee (didn’t try the tea though the managers advised I should)

Called in for snack and ended up with a lovely meal. Staff friendly, place spotless, can sit in or out, dog friendly. All in all a gorgeous place. Sorry no photos, phone ran out. Next time for sure.

Tucked away just off the main road, this little cafe has outdoor seating and a conservatory. On a cool and damp Easter day it was lovely to enjoy some daylight in the conservatory. Cakes were good (millionaire's shortbread available in white, milk and dark chocolate) and large, and lovely coffee.

The mint aero milkshake was a highlight! Everything nice and clean until we arrived in our muddy boots.

Called in here on a Saturday morning after an early start and a two hour drive with no breakfast. Quick and friendly service, excellent coffee and a decent bacon roll at a decent price. Nicely decorated and very clean and tidy. Would certainly happily come here again

Found this by accident as our usual cafe was closed. Brilliant choice of cakes. Had gorgeous ginger and apricot slice and a large latte. Lovely! Dog friendly too! Although we were very muddy and the cafe was so clean we sat outside. Plenty of choice where to sit. Well away from the road. Will definitely go again.

Había una buena selección de opciones en el menú del almuerzo, así que seleccionamos el panini Pizza y Pollo y pesto panini. Cada uno llegó con ensalada y col como lados y ambos eran encantadores. La comida era deliciosa, yo estaba decepcionado de que la nevera estaba rota, así que no pudimos probar sus batidos. Hornea la tarta/bandeja parecía sabrosa pero no muestra.

Escondido en un patio aislado en la esperanza encontrará este café perfecto con comida de muy buena calidad presentada y servida con cuidado. Es tan bueno que fuimos dos veces en una semana. Puede sentarse en el lado izquierdo. Un invernadero o en el patio en el sol. Popular con ciclista, caminantes y turistas por igual tendrá una buena comida abundante, preparada con comida de buena calidad y adecuado tamaño tartas hechas a un alto nivel. El pan se cultivan localmente desde una tienda en Bakewell como supongo que la mayoría de sus productos. Precioso y muy limpio. Bien merece una visita.

Este lugar es precioso, el servicio amable, gran pasteles y comida casera, además, el café es de primera categoría. Es muy difícil contemplar ir a ningún otro lugar localmente después de ir al patio, en mi visita este mes incluso tenían helados locales como una adición. Recomendaría este lugar a cualquier viajero en la zona.

Café muy bonito con muchas tartas preciosas. Muy popular entre los ciclistas. Los propietarios estaban ocupados preparando para despierta semana.

The Courtyard Cafe is our place of choice after our Saturday morning rides around the Peaks. Always friendly and welcoming, even when we're covered in mud. Nothing is too much trouble when catering for up to four hungry and thirsty mountain bikers. The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic and and the lattes/tea's go down a treat, exactly what is required.You can get a card for your drinks which they will stamp for you for each drink you buy. When it's full you get a free drink which is a nice touch. I'd recommend this cafe to anyone.

We've been on the classic Peaks ride and had a mishap and felt a bit out of steam. First choice proved to be top one :)Massive flapjacks, good coffee and tea, good selection of sweet and savory snacks and meals.I also seen someone ordering breakfast and the portion was absolutely MONSTROUS xDNot to mention plenty of space for people to sit and bikes to be stored securely on sight.Recommend!!!

Visited here after a day's walking in the area on a cold slightly snowy day. Lovely welcoming cafe, nice staff, great coffee and a delicious lemon drizzle cake, so moist. My partner had the fruit scone which was beautifully presented. Just the perfect end to a day out in the stunning Peak District countryside

Saw the reviews on here and decided to stop for lunch on our way to Castleton. Was given a warm welcome and sat ourselves down in the conservatory. The four of us had a freshly prepared lunch, the soup and a sandwich was a meal in itself, and with 3 hot coffees and a cold drink it came to £30 which I thought was very reasonable for what we had. There was a large courtyard with plenty of tables which I'm sure are put to good ude in the summer. Would certainly visit here again.

First time visitor here as when we ride into the Peaks we normally stop in Hathersage. Really glad that we stopped here instead...great staff and great food.Loads of place to put bikes.Eating outdoor and indoor but we went inside as it was a bit cold!Served quickly.Good menu.Loads of great cakes and we got huge slices!And the prices were fantastic.Brilliant and we will definitely be back.

The day we visited the heating had broken and the lady had brought some heaters from home. It was still lovely and cosy. Our food was delicious. The lady was very helpful and clearly understood small children well- the choices were really good. Our food was delicious. The gingerbread hot chocolate was scrummy as was the milkshakes. We would go back here on a regular basis if it was closer to home! They also do take away food which is great for walkers, cyclists, etc.

Love this place, the coffee is amazing a warm welcome and great selection of freshly prepared food. I love the retro but fresh design in the place and the attention to detail with little things that make the whole experience a good one. If you want a relaxed environment, with a warm welcome and great coffee give this place a go.

We popped in here for a coffee and snack. We were a group of 10. We were served efficiently by two young ladies who were very friendly. We were all impressed by the environment and service. It's certainly a place to revisit. Thank you.

A warm welcome from the owner but some barrista training might not go amiss (not sure what happened to the Americano but it did at least remind us to grab a bag of peat on the way home). Scrambled eggs also obviously microwaved but otherwise ok. That's about it really. It's ok.

This is the best I have been to. I was spending a day test riding bikes next door at 18, but this lunch was the best chicken and bacon salad I have ever had. The cakes look great and the sandwiches were massive but the chicken and bacon salad well that was the piste de resistance . It was awesome.this cafe should be no1 hands down.

Last week we tasted a new Pistachio cake... Gluten free too! It was georgeous. Rachel is always experimenting with new ideas and this is what keeps this cafe fresh. It is not on the busy road but just behind the deli in a courtyard which means it is not noisy like the others and has a lovely secluded (courtyard) garden in summer... we keep going back..

Good home cooked food at a very reasonable price definatly eat here if in hope for breakfast or lunch.

Stumbled upon this lovely little cafe by accident but will definitely return again . It's on the high street tucked away a few doors down fron the spar. There is an indoor room and also a little courtyard in the open air with tables and umberellas (with a sign asking customers not to put them up themselves, something that sounds unlikely and painful !) It serves lovely home made cakes and freshly cooked light snacks and lunches. The scampi and chips were lovely, generous portions, good quality and best of all hot and straight out of the pan. Just the thing after a long walk in the Peaks. The pot of tea was generous and freshly brewed and all the trays of cakes, milkshakes and other things going past looked similarly delicious. At £6 for the scampi it was excellent value for money and we'll make it our 'go to' place when walking in the area.

We sat in the quiet courtyard soaking up the sun. Food and drinks ordered at the counter we sat back and relaxed. Our food arrived promptly and well presented. A marvellously relaxed lunch. Big selection of home made tray bakes-well it would be rude not to....very reasonably priced for everything. Staff very friendly. Would go again. P&H.
