I entered the shop and straight away there was a real lack of communication. There was one person before me in the queue. I ordered a coffee and a bacon and avocado bagel. That's when the wait started. The coffee came after around 2 minutes, so I thought good service! I was wrong. I waited a further 15 minutes for the the 3 people behind the till to apply avocado and bacon to a toasted bagel. So after a lengthy enquiry I finally received my bagel. At this point the coffee was cold, but atleast the bagel was a solid 5/10. Lacked seasoning.

What a turnaround! Last visited here a couple of years ago and have never felt so unwelcome in a pub in my life. Had heard that it had changed hands and WOW, what a change! Warm, welcoming and offering a superb range of cobs and pasties through the week and homemade hot options Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The food is truly excellent value for money, very generous portions of fresh, quality ingredients, really good freshly made coffee too. My friends and I were made truly welcome with our three dogs, and somewhat damp boots, even to the extent that they came out to make a fuss of the dogs and offer treats! Made time to engage with us despite the pub being busy (which in itself is testament to the turnaround they have achieved). I often walk my two dogs along the canal here and it is lovely to know that I can now call in here with them for a coffee and a cob and feel welcome. Keep up the excellent work, we need more pubs like this offering good old fashioned value for money and friendly service.

Think it's shut. Couldn't find it. Resulted in going jn the bakery for a sandwich and a sausage roll instead. Alcester is a nice little stop off but Henley was busier.

Myself and partner celebrated our birthdays here with a Sunday roast and drinks with friends and family. There were over 20 of us in total and everyone said how lovely the food was. Great portion sizes. Home cooked and all orders came out one after the other. Service was amazing. Thanks all. We had the best afternoon.

Needing to put its boast to the test, I was first surprised at the prices, then the range of treats on offer 😊 Flat white and a dark chocolate Tunnock’s Teacake. I cannot testify to other establishments in town, but this was the best coffee I have had in ages. If in the area, take the weight off your feet and rest awhile with a very tasty coffee.

Great wee cafe with traditional food and cakes. Spotlessly clean, even the bathrooms were spotless. Nice staff and quick service. Breakfast served till 2pm. Disabled toilet and disabled access.

Tomé el té y el desayuno grande. El desayuno estaba bien, pero el haggis era muy lamby/graso. Me encantan los haggis, principalmente McSween, pero esto fue demasiado fuerte para mí. El huevo escalfado también era demasiado firme - tienen que ser corridos! Todo lo demás es bueno. Servicio muy bueno. Mencioné que me gusta el té lechoso, así que me trajeron una cantidad decente de leche, no un dedal de mierda como a veces se obtiene. Debería decir que el té viene en una olla y era hoja suelta - propiamente dicha.

Awful Awful bakery i found a Rat in my steak bake although i still tasted alright but i was however sick after the fact. alright place would go again

Please note that this cafe is no longer called Mad Hatters and is now the Waterside Cafe. The staff are friendlier and the food is lovely, they open at consistent times (handy as the toilets are only open when the cafe is). There was a lot of fuss when Mad Hatters lease was not renewed and the catering taken on by Derby City Council but it has in my opinion improved.

I have watched this place get progressively worse over the years. I "used to" buy a large amount of selection boxes for friends and families but now take my custom elsewhere. First of all they seem to employ obnoxious, rude and unhygienic staff with Napoleon complexes as a standard. Second, The place is getting progressively dirtier to the point I have had hair in my selection box and I am sure I saw something verminous scuttle under a table on one visit. Thirdly, The whole covid thing gave everyone a chance to be scared of cash. Personally i like cash and have never been scammed on my cards... because i use cash. Now all the restrictions are lifted. One of the staff members loudly and arrogantly refused my legal tender as i attempted to buy a selection box (is that even legal?) and seemed very pleased not to take my money. I have never seen a business model that doesn't want to take money? But I guess they can have their donut and eat it.

Al llegar, nos dijeron de inmediato que el servicio de comida se había detenido, lo cual estaba bien, ya que habíamos hecho el viaje específicamente a Boho Utopia solo por un poco de pastel, ya que habíamos escuchado cosas buenas de algunos de nuestros seguidores. Ambos pedimos pastel, y nos dijeron que tendríamos hasta las 3. 30 para comerlos. Pensamos que esto era extraño, ya que el horario de cierre figura a las 4 pm. Fuimos a pedir un chocolate caliente y un café, pero nos dijeron que la máquina de café estaba siendo limpiada y retirada por el día. Al sentarse con el pastel, un nuevo cliente ordenó un Americano sin reparos. Pensamos que era extraño, ya que incluso si la máquina de café estuviera funcionando nuevamente, hubiera sido bueno que me lo dijeran. El suelo estaba resbaladizo, las mesas pegajosas y, en general, no nos impresionó el servicio. Nunca hemos dejado una mala crítica, sin embargo, el ambiente estaba completamente apagado y no fue agradable para nosotros dos, ya que inmediatamente nos sentimos presionados desde el momento en que entramos por la puerta. En general, la comida en sí (una tarta de bizcocho de caramelo y una tarta de copos de maíz) estaba bien y la volveríamos a comer, sin embargo, no estaríamos preparados para hacer el viaje como lo hicimos esta vez. This was such a great find, an absolute amazing Sunday Carvery - the staff are all friendly and the lovely lady who runs the place was so helpful, you can tell she puts her heart and soul into it and is passionate about doing things properly, everything homemade and little touches which made everything delicious! The best roast potatoes I've ever had, you could honestly just have a bowl full of those on their own, don't know how they get them so crispy and fluffy! As others on here have said, the cauli cheese also went down well, great cheesy sauce and skin on top, yummy! We are not from the area, but will definitely be returning for the Sunday carvery again next time we visit, it was absolutely top notch!! Thanks so much we loved it 😁
