The Barton Turns is how a pub should be. Great choice of well kept beers, friendly staff, well filled cobs for a good price (£3), boatman’s platter (£5), along with other quality bar snacks such as home made pork pie and pasties. The nachos are the best we’ve ever tasted. There are two beer gardens, one at the front by the canal and a lovely well tended garden at the rear. There are cards and board games available and also a book swap. Dogs are welcome throughout the pub, including the carpeted Shakespeare room. There’s also a cosy room next door in all old outhouse with fairy lights. This pub has really been turned around for the better with the new owners, has become popular again and it is now our new local. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing a great job!

The new licensees of the Barton Turns have quickly made it my favourite pub in Barton. They have focussed on providing an interesting range of guest beers outside of the normal 'fare' found in Marston's pubs, and this has been very popular amongst my friends. Whilst they initially stated their intention to focus on beer over food, as they have become established they have extended their food offering with delicious home-cooked snacks which ideally complement their beers. An internal decoration programme is underway; this appear to be being done in a manner that is sensitive to the pub's origins and location. I struggle to think of anything that could improve the pub's service, other than to keep on doing what you are already doing!

We have been to this pub a few times in the past but not since the regeneration with the new landlords. It is gorgeous - really friendly, so clean, great food and service and just such a fabulous place on the canal. We will definitely return - just one query - there were young children allowed to sit on bar stools at the bar - surely that’s a breach of licensing law? Just saying. Otherwise it’s a place to go whether you are a local or just passing through. Thank you.

The new tenants at the Barton Turns, know exactly what a pub should be and have remained true to their cause. Many pubs try gimmicks and fads to try and attract customers, these very rarely succeed over a period of time. Yet what The Turns have done is to keep it simply and be a pub. Nothing more nothing less and I have to say it damn well works…!! The beer selection is plentiful and being a self certified beer snob they have more than enough to keep me happy, while keeping the mainstays on tap also. If you want a good honest decent pub with an awesome, witty and friendly couple running the place then look no further as trust me you will not be disappointed.

What a fantastic, traditional local!! There was a rush to get in the pub at opening time and after tasting my first pint I realised why, The beer is excellent, the Landlady and Landlord very welcoming and the pub was clean and so lovely and warm. The only downside was no food, but I was informed they usually do rolls etc. They really need to and add pork pie and sausage rolls to their fantastic scratchings they already serve in a bowl. I was told by my friend they have only been in the pub a few weeks, buy I am sure they will be a great success, please go and visit yourself. Well done guys!!!!

I popped in this lunchtime for a quick pint. I was made very welcome by the new tenants, Craig and Nicky. They've only been there three weeks and are doing a great job. The beer (Pedigree) as before, was excellent! There was a very good choice of other beers. The pub was cleaner, brighter and fresher than before. They had made a really good job of trimming the pub up for Halloween, both inside and outside. Craig and Nicky's plans are to keep The Turns as a wet pub, that is traditional, warm and welcoming. It is also very dog friendly. Craig and Nicky's long-term plans don't include them doing meals but to do cobs, pork pies, etc. I can't wait to see how Nicky will trim up the pub for Christmas. If today's experience is anything to go by, then it will be well worth a visit! Give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

Well what can I say we called in for a drink everything was ok although the landlady seemed to have had more drinks then the customers had lol, there was no hot water in either off the toilets which wasn’t a good sign. five men walked in ordered drinks no problem then all off a sudden all hell broke loose! Said landlady started shouting and screaming at one of the young men totally out of the blue as he’d not done a thing as I’m a very nervous person and have social anxiety this made me very upset so I had to leave because I was shaking and felt sick. Not the best place to visit! the landlady should have more about her there are ways and means to deal with customers even though this young man had done nothing wrong the landlady just flew at him for no reason whatsoever! So if you don’t mind being screamed at for no reason then go and visit but if like us you just want a quiet drink please go somewhere!

They went above and beyond to make sure we catered for, for every need. Ended up having a lovely late night chat with everyone there over a pint! Massive massive thank you to the lovely lady behind the bar, I hope you enjoy retirement, you're an absolute star 🌟

Went in to meet a friend.....big mistake! The staff are very unfriendly, in fact they are rude! Made to feel uncomfortable and left after one drink! Obviously these people do not know they are in the hospitality business. I suggest they go on some customer care training....at the very least! Such a shame as the pub is in a nice position but I do not go out to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

While walking along the canal we thought we would drop in for lunch and a rest before continuing our walk. Even though previous reviews regarding food and service were poor we thought we would try it for ourselves. The outside of the Inn looks very inviting and the bar area is heated by a nice coal fire. However on the door was a note saying "no food being served today" so lunch was out of the question. I cannot say we had the most welcoming of greetings from the person behind the bar. A look and a grunt really. We guessed if you were a local or a regular you got better greetings. It is dog freindly and we met some nice customers with their dogs but we will not be returning.

Sunny Sunday afternoon so my wife and I looked for a pub to visit. Not sure what to make of it.There were two customers in the pub and that was it.I was looking forward to some real ales as mentioned in a previous review but, and this may be my fault, I never saw any on offer. It is a great shame the pub is over the road from the canal and not alongside it. We sat outside alongside the canal and felt like I was sat in a car park.A few narrow boats used the lock right by where we were sitting and this was the highlight of the visit.Never saw anyone else.I found the drinks expensive for a pub which is miles from anywhere. Probably would not visit again.

I have been nearly 50 years in hospitality and never encountered this as the worst real example of appalling hospitality. Wish I could film it as would make Fawlty Towers look exemplary! Have had good scampi etc before from them before but tonight was like sheep droppings. Not up to #Marstons standards but the weird host and hostess blamed #Marstons. for supply, MmmHH?? Arta they buying elsewhere? Came back to #travelodge who say they now discourage guests going there owing to awful hospitality. Are you happy with this '#MARtons? Good outcome.I have the best example of worst hospitality for my teachings. But is that right for a great brand like Marstos> #marstons consider and move forward

We have eaten in this pub a couple of times when we've had a caravan weekend at the Marina, five minutes up the road. We always get a good welcome and it's a proper pub, not a plastic palace like so many these days. They have quite an extensive menu but no fancy pants stuff, which I'm unsure whether I should eat or photograph as a rule. Anyway eleven of us went in, ordered and the food all came out together and it was all lovely, hot and delicious. As an added bonus they sell chocolate ( of a very well known make) at ridiculous prices and all proceeds go to charity, so I came away with a bagful( well, it would be rude not to and the local dog rescue will be grateful I'm sure! ) We were made to feel very welcome, the beer was good and the food was such good value for money.Definitely worth a visit .

On a canal boat trip... Moored up for the night and dropped in for a pint or two. The landlord was not over friendly and as he was the only one there not much of a conversation was to be had! Intended to eat there but his attitude put me off... Perhaps being 'up north' my London accent was a bit of a handicap... Who knows. Anyway didn't bother stopping on the way back. Can't comment on the food so look to other reviewers for their opinions... Not a welcoming night for me in the bar that's for sure.
