Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing bar staff. Best pub in the midlands. Sean and tom will make you feel very welcome. This is how a pub should be.

So warm and welcoming, dropped in for a late one Sunday, warm welcome, and a delight as we'd picked my dad up who was hungry, a nibbles platter was brought out for all the patrons in there to share! Great ale too

The food here is absolutely stunning, service is impeccable, we took our daughter for a meal after a day out, found this little gem by accident & couldn’t have been happier! Would definitely visit again

Went with my wife and 2 daughters. The kids menu has plenty of choice and the chicken nuggets on there were lovely (I may have stolen one from my daughter). Eldest had a burger and chips and she said it was really nice. My wife and I had 5 small dishes, all 5 were amazing. Will be going there later for more food! The staff are all really friendly and welcoming. Great to have this pub back and doing well! A big well done to all the staff.

Went for dinner before the pub quiz, the service was really friendly and welcoming. We had our drinks and food within 15 minutes. It was delicious and piping hot. The meal deal 2 for £13.50 was a bargain! Will definitely return. It’s a shame there weren’t more for the pub quiz but hopefully in time it will grow as they deserve the pub to be a huge success.

First time here today at first was disappointied that no Sunday lunch was available but was explained that this starts next weekend, The staff were very attentive and the place was spotlessly clean,The food was fantastic and extremely well priced,looking forward to the Sunday lunch next time,well done blacksmiths Arms😀

2 for £13.50 but definitely not cheap crap food , 4 of us went and had different dishes the double chicken sf breast burger was tasty & filling , Steak and ale pie although not home made was hot and good amount of meat in it served with mash but opted for chips , veg and gravy , i had the Chilli taco rolls with rice guacamole and corn cob again hot and tasty although rice a bit to spicy for me (Personal preference) because of the great value we had desserts very nice and with diet cokes and a tip for staff it came to £16.50 each ......Excellent value , nice venue, friendly welcome , all together great lunch out ....we will return

This was my first visit to this pub, I was made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere was great. I will definitely visit this pub when I'm back in the area. Thanks for a good evening

Wonderful time celebrating sons 13th birthday here. On arrival our table had lovely surprise of balloons, banners and decorations ready! We all had starters, mains and desserts. Food was served hot, great portion sizes and was very tasty. Great atmosphere and quick service too!

Excellent food! Full of flavour and good value for money. Friendly, welcoming and courteous staff. We’re so impressed that we’ve booked to come again in a few days time. Highly recommend 🥰

Can’t pour Guinness, poor service, wonky pool table, closes at random times

Both landlords are extremely rude and don’t know how to speak or treat customers. They close earlier than Google says. If you want a Guinness don’t go here, they 100% don’t know how to pour it.

Used to be my local in the 1990's called in for a pint with my grandson changed quite a lot but very impressed with the decor

Visited at the wrong time as the pub is in the process of changing hands, they did not have the kitchen open but encouraged us to fetch food from the local supermarket to bring in. Good decision as the beer was excellent.

We (The Honourable Order of Bass Drinkers) visited on the afternoon of Sunday 7th as part of our annual pilgrimage to Burton. The welcome from locals and staff alike was tip-top and the Bass was on great form. I'm not in the pic, as I took it, and we'll be back next year. Fanx

Great welcome, Bass was incredible. Staff were brilliant and brought water for our dogs.

Lovely, generous sized, well priced lunch. Despite arriving at same time as a large group service was still friendly and efficient. Dog friendly in the bar area too is an added benefit for us too.

Wife and I had a carvery here todày (3/9) We both enjoyed it, choice of 3 meats roast, mashed and dauphinoise potàtoes cauliflower cheese ,red cabbage ,peas ,beans and carrots all beautifully presented and very nice lovely attentive staff will definetly return .thankyou all.

Went for Sunday carvery to meet up with family who live down south, there were 8 of us. The staff were very accommodating, we even got table service being such a big group. The cook did a fantastic job of helping my son choose what to have and bar staff very friendly

Sad really. Visited for the first time in a while. Hubby cut his hand on bar. Staple sticking out. Not a massive issue but guy serving us rude and dismissive. Really didn't feel welcome.

We found ourselves at the Blacksmiths as we were making our way to York. In need of sustenance and not wanting the typical A38 offerings we diverted and we are so glad we did. Despite the kitchen not being open usually on a Monday the team went above and beyond and we continued our journey with bellies full of delicious food and refreshing beverages. Lovely place, lovely food and a wonderful team. Thank you.

Had a relaxed lunch with a friend here. Service was exceptionally quick, but still didn't lack friendliness. Food was lush. Steak melt on ciabata & chips... Yum. Steak cooked perfectly to my liking. Chips were delicious! We did have a pudding too. Shared a brownie & sticky toffee pudding. Both very nice. Washed down with a tea! We weren't rushed. Definitely want to go back.

Ordered adults scampi and chips and when it came 5 pieces of scampi on the plate, I asked is this a kids portion they said no

Came here yesterday for the carvery with my partner and daughter. We were greeted by friendly bar staff,we ordered drinks and were shown to our seats. I chose beef which was melt in your mouth delicious and partner and daughter had Turkey, pork was also an option. We had plenty of meat,home made Yorkshire puddings,mash, roasties and good choice of veg. My daughter is very fussy with mash and usually leaves it as it doesn't taste like mine but she loved it and ate three big helpings of it. I particularly liked the cauliflower cheese with crispy top and the gravy just made a delicious meal even better. I definitely want their gravy recipe! Myself and partner were so full but our daughter managed a chocolate brownie for dessert which she thoroughly enjoyed. Partner said the guiness was a good pint. We will be returning soon and we definitely recommend this pub to everyone. Thank you!

First time we have been to the blacksmiths arms and it won't be our last .lovely freshly cooked food. And proper chips. And excellent service and welcome from Bradley. We will be recommended it to friends and family .Hope to visit again soon .

Relaxed and not expected to leave once eaten..

This is the 2nd time I have been here. The food was absolutely 💯 amazing. Burger was fantastic and it was great to have homemade chips. I wish more places did homemade chips. Service from the waitress could have been better. She never acknowledged when we said thank you or even when we left and said goodbye.

Greeted by Rude lads crowding the door effing and blinding and had to walk through a cloud of smoke and then they came into the family area of the bar shouting and swearing. Ordered food and only 1 out of 5 meals were edible. 3 lots of chicken was “slimy” and not cooked and the 4th was rock hard, couldn’t even bite into it. Really really disappointed as this was a special occasion and we don’t get together very often. The toilet floors in the gents and ladies were like they’d been mopped with oil, so slippery. The 3 kids always always ask for Blacksmiths whenever we say we are going out for a meal but after this it really has put us off. Really disappointing 😟

We visited the blacksmiths arms to have a meal as we hadn’t been out for a while. Immediately made to feel very unwelcome and like we were an inconvenience to the staff because we wanted to sit inside rather than outside. The service was not good and covid regulations were not being followed. Customers were allowed to walk up to the bar when it should be table service and they were all unmasked. Staff didn’t wear masks either and had no proof they were exempt. Just generally not good service and regulations not being followed at all. We stayed for starters and then left.

Been coming to blacksmiths arms for years now it's a great family atmosphere great nights at the weekend when there's disco and karaoke the pub is is ran really well by Maria and staff and the food and the carveries are delicious an all round great community pub

Had a Sunday carvery it was a lovely meal chef very polite and so were bar staff and waiting on staff food very hot reasonable price to would recommend and will go again. Place its self very clean good old English pub grub

I popped in whilst passing yesterday for lunch and can honestly say I would never stop here again. Apart from the manageress having a very rude manner, the stench of weed, the offer to sell me some in the gents and the cold food served to us. Can you give minus stars !

Used to be a nice place. Now full of underage drinkers and the smell of weed doesn't help either. Such a shame,it used to be a lovely ,friendly family pub.

Took advantage of 'The Blacksmiths Arms' Christmas lunch this year and the whole experience was faultless. Lots of lovely piping hot food, pleasant and helpful staff, and a really nice atmosphere. Many thanks to Maria and all concerned - highly recommended. Happy Christmas!

My friend and I were looking for a late Sunday lunch having done a charity event in Burton and (not being local) googled where to dine and came across this lovely pub. The carvery had just finished but there was plenty of choice on the main menu and the staff were quite happy to tweak one of the dishes for me. The food was good and reasonably priced. £7.95 for a curry, rice/chips, naan bread, two poppadoms and lots of mango chutney. We enquired if there were any flavoured gins and were offered a whole range of unusual ones! The staff were welcoming and very pleasant. What's not to like? Would definitely dine here again if in the Burton area.

All I can say about this visit is what a wonderful evening we had, the group was a tribute to the Blues Brothers and how fantastic they were! Will be looking out for the next time they are performing there. I shall also look for other live music evenings at the Blacksmiths Arms if last night was anything to go by. Great!

Im affraid we shall not frequent this establishment again which is ashame because food is very good but you cannot advertise dining room when on a Saturday evening at 730pm we were the only table dining and people started crowding round where you were sitting to dine just to drink. Very noisy and music loud. More of drinking pub than dining pub.

Very poor would not use this establishment again staff not helpful quite abusive if honist will not be going to this establishment again

Called here for a meal on our way home from Birmingham. We are not local but we were made very welcome by the very friendly staff. We all chose pies from the new pie menu and I have to say they were delicious. If I’m ever in the area again I’ll be sure to call in!!

Found this pub googling somewhere that did an all day breakfast as we did not get up early enough to get a breakfast at our hotel. Glad I found this place! Went there at midday and it was near enough empty, is a small pub so probably will be full at evening time. Went to order and the staff were so friendly and down to earth, even giving her suggestion on coffee as I was indecisive. Our food was delivered promptly and was absolutely delicious! I was so full after as it was too good to waste. A member of staff even came over and offered a refill of tea which I thought was a lovely gesture! If I am in that area again, I will definitely be back.

As a regular customer, maybe I'm biased but The Blacksmith's Arms is by far the best pub in Branston. It's been my local for a good while now and unlike the other four pubs in the village, it ticks all my boxes. A great atmosphere - a real community pub, with friendly locals. A fantastic landlady Maria and her brilliant staff - always welcoming, friendly and efficient. Some great beers - Pedigree and Bass are always on, plus another guest draught beer which is sometimes Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Offers a very good range of other beers, wines and spirits. A wide choice of reasonably priced, good quality food, with decent portions - there are often deals and specials on. Sky Sports on the TVs - there's even a screen outside on the patio. Live music and entertainment on regularly. Charity events and quizzes are held throughout the year. The pub is clean and warm with plenty of seating. Families and dogs are always welcome. The Smith's is ideally located in the centre of the village, with a large car park. Try it; you won't be disappointed!

Party of 12, Very friendly staff greeted us on arrival, Service was excellent, food all came out together. We all enjoyed and thought was very nice. Enjoyed our evening rebooked 2 weeks later. Well done to all for making our evening good.

Maria has got this place bouncing. By far the best pub atmosphere in Branston and probably Burton. Shes grafted and focussed on basic standards to get to the level of reputation that she has achieved. A proper landlady in the old fashioned sence, so you are guaranteed to have the p*** taken out of you if you try giving it. Always something going on entertainment wise, always raising money for charity and engaging with the community. Basically she values her customers which is why they all return. Brilliant!

My Father passed away earlier in the month and we decided that we would take Mum out . We read the reviews and all the food reviews were good. After paying the deposit we arrived on the day. To chaos. We arrived to scenes of what I thought was filming for Shameless. We had to stand and wait for people to leave our table. Nowhere to put coats other than on the back of chairs. (Which then fell off as they wouldn’t stay on.) our starter arrived 3/4 of an hour after we should have been served. Prawn and oneCrayfish stick spooned into two Litty Gem lettuce leaves and a slice of bread cut into 4? Then it dawned on us. IT WAS A BLOODY CARVERY! £45 for a carvery! We watched as it dawned on other people as they realised that they had paid to stand in a queue for a Carvery. There were lots of elderly people who were just sat as they knew they wouldn’t be able to stand for that long. Dessert was really obviously shop (or Macro) bought with not one item being made onsite. We left as soon as we could. We won’t be going back again. Had they advertised it as a queue up Carvery I would definitely not have gone. A special day wasn’t totally ruined but having paid out £290 for our table I certainly expected more. Oh and there wasn’t even the option of coffee at the end. Chaos.

Fourteen of us for Christmas meal was deliscous.plenty of it and nice and hot.nothing was too much trouble staff were great.thankyou blacksmiths xx

Called in here on way back to Derby from a long day at the Good Food Show at the NEC. Luckily there was a table free, as there was a performer on later that evening. Ordered food and drink for 5 and Sat back to wait, thinking as they were busy it would be a while. Pleasantly surprised only to wait about 20/25 minutes. Piping hot, well presented food. We all tucked in, I struggled to finish, huge chicken breast in lovely fresh bun served with delicious chips..... should have asked for small portion as I felt guilty leaving so many chips! Lovely friendly staff, chef came and had a chat to check we'd enjoyed meal, lovely lady! We will definitely be back.

Decided at last minute to try a carvery Meat Choice and Vegatables were both very good and Tasty , much better than the local Toby All staff pleasant and friendly will be back

Booked table for evening meal for 4 people. On arrival there were about half a dozen people in the doorway smoking who did not seem to want to move, and we had to push our way through them. Once inside it was very busy and we struggled to get to the bar - people did not want to move. Finally we were told where our reserved table was, which needed cleaning and was wet and sticky with stale beer, so we managed to find another table which was slightly better, which although dry was still sticky. Food was acceptable, but we were not asked by anyone if everything was ok. The whole place was like a typical scruffy backstreet pub, although it is a large establishment situated on a main road. There were also quite a few unruly children running around. We will definitely NOT be revisiting !!

This is a great local pub which serves a good pint of beer and great pub food. It’s well worth a visit if you have never been. Good quality home cooked pub food. Steak night on a Monday well worth a visit. A very friendly pub and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

We have been to The Blacksmiths, just for a drink, on a few occasions and decided that next time we ate in the Burton area we would try here.

I have reviewed a number of Burton restaurants but not "The Smiths". I want to put that right.

Arriving for lunch on 1 May, and not having booked, we were warmly welcomed, and studied the extensive menu. Our choices of main course and dessert were served promptly; all were well-presented and delicious. The venue has ample parking, and is 2 minutes from the Burton upon Trent southern junction on the A38.

We live near this pub and visit to eat mainly. The food is fairly typical pub food, with the odd more unusual item. We've never had a bad meal there, portions ate generous and the service is always prompt which is so wonderful when you have hungry kids waiting. The Sunday carvery is lovely, and price wise for a family meal out it is really reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pub is clean and nicely appointed. We're grateful to have such a friendly, consistently good pub on the door step. Keep it up guys!

Went for a family meal but left as children were running around tables out of control. We have had many happy meals here but felt different tonight.

I recently went here with a group of friends. We had a couple of drinks each and got a round of shots together. We drank them and politely put the empty glasses on the bar. The landlady then came to the table accusing us of stealing the shot glasses. Once we had pointed out all the glass were still on the bar and that they should check the CCTV, we left to another local pub where we felt more comfortable. An apology would have been accepted as I do understand people do steal things, but to be accused of stealing, prove them wrong and not get an apology is just totally unacceptable.

I went with friends to watch a performer Errol Cole who by the way was amazing!! The food was delicious and the bar staff and waitresses were so welcoming and friendly we couldn’t fault it.

I always thought this was just a pub, but after a relative recommended the food here, we decided to give it a try. 7 of us dined on a midweek evening and the food was superb. Freshly cooked, good sized servings, piping hot and very tasty. Good variety of menu selections as well as a specials board. Desserts selection looked good too, although most of us were too full to try one. Service was excellent - very polite and friendly server. Prices were competitive - will definitely book here again.

This small but perfectly formed pub is a jewel in the area. Serving lovely food HOT, with a friendly smile and timely service, it puts the opposition to shame. Like Arnie - I will return.
