Went for the annual beer festival and loved it. Kids played at the back behind the marquee, in the little hedge tunnel they have, the beer selection was great, the food stall they had on the decking area was amazing and their kitchen were able to make some slight adjustments to their menu to feed our kids. Overall, just a really great vibe, lovely and friendly staff who very clearly cared about the quality of service - chef after finishing work having a pint, nipped over to check if the kids liked the food etc. and there were a few moments like that, staff asking feedback or wanting to make sure service was good :). Will definitely be back!

We went for a drink a few weeks ago to test the pub out and decided to go for a meal. We had heard nothing but excellent reports. What an awful experience. It wasn’t busy (even though we were told to book). The food wasn’t great and in fact to eat the Lasagne you needed a hammer and chisel as it was burnt to a crisp.

When looking at the menu I liked the look of a dish but it had mushrooms in. I am very allergic to them. The waitress said don't worry the dishes are all made fresh so could be cooked without mushrooms I was doubtful for a long while but she assured me it would be fine. The food came and it was lovely. But within an hour of returning home I was severely ill sickness diarrhoea I had to lie on the bathroom floor for ages. I did report this to the restaurant so they knew that even using the same utensils can affect someone with an allergy cos I didn't want it to happen to someone else but they didn't even bother replying this could have been a severe life threatening issue!

Visited on a weeknight for a relative's birthday (Booking essential between Mon-Thurs). 15 diners meant a limited menu for ease of service which was fine for us as most of the party had Steaks with all the trimmings, after having drinks in the bar, having a chat with Wendy whilst we chose our meals, then moving through to the restaurant, all the meals came out hot & well presented, the fresh Cod looked fab with Baked Cherry Tomatoes & Chives. Pudding was a delight, homemade Chocolate Brownie with Pecans & Cranberry topping with thick hot custard, apparently the Apple Pie was also yummy & I think there was a choice of a Crumble too. All in all a lovely evening, service with a smile from all the staff & great wine to compliment the meal. Thanks to all for the hard work, It's so hard to produce so many meals at one time from a small kitchen, all credit to you :)

Visited 'on spec' Friday 22nd September 2017. Only three of us dining. We walked straight into the dining area and no one was in the room. We soon found out why, as a pleasant lady came and said, that, usually people sat in the bar, had a drink and had a look at the menu for their meals, then taken through into the dining room for their meals. We started to head towards the bar, but she kindly went through to see if we could be seated. When she returned she said there was no room at all, so we could sit at the table we had chosen to go to, (which was really nice of her as there was a few people around). We were given a menu and ordered drinks. This lady was really attentive and made us welcome. We ordered our meals of Locally made Steak & Kidney Pie with Chips, Peas & Gravy and Pan Fried Lamb Steak + Red Onions & Mint served on Colcannon. There is quite a few choices of, Burgers, Pizzas, Steaks, Gammon, Salmon, Chicken Chilli, Seafood Chowder, BBQ Beef ribs ,Spicy dishes such as Indonesian Pork, Children's menu with meatballs spaghetti, Sausage & Mash, Chicken Breast & chips, so basically something for everyone. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and when they arrived they were lovely ,hot, tasty and full of meat , nicely cooked.... really delicious. I have taken a couple of pictures, but the food looked so good we had started eating before I remembered to take them!! The steak pie was like a suety type topping rather than shortcrust pastry, it was nice and thick, with pleanty of meat and in a rich gravy. The chips were really nice, not at all greasy and quite thick, which helped to mop up the gravy. The Lamb ,as I was informed was cooked just right. I don't even know if they serve sweets, because, we were all so full from our meals, that we could not find the room anyway. It seems a friendly pub,but I would advise booking as there are only a few tables in the dining room, so would imagine it gets full quickly, I don't think this will be our only visit here.

Visited here after a while. I was shocked. The owner was a lady who I had paid for dog walking whilst lockdown was happening, even worse she had been claiming furlough and leaving her cafe closed and getting paid for dog walking. I don't think this is very ethical. Thankfully I wasn't reconised however service was slow and the menu full of very unhealthy things and the tables far too close together for COVID. Will not return.
