Used to be regular place and lovely. After poor experience in autumn thought try again. Jacket potato was tiny again too small to be used as jackets. Meatballs (with spaghetti) were inedible as too dry to eat. Told staff who didn’t seem interested and not sure they even told the kitchen. Really disappointed and wouldn’t recommend again

Had a great stay at The Carpenters Arms, the accommodation is great, large, comfortable room with great sized ensuite. The we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here which was extremely good, food hot, tasty and plentiful and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful as we're the landlords. Wish them the best of luck in their new venture.

Friendly and welcoming little cafe. Lovely coffee, good service, best cakes. We had the banana bread -moist, spiced and topped with nuts and seeds- and an iced lemon polenta cake also delicious.

Positives: Big car park. Small enclosed grassy area for dogs. Toilets available Food well cooked and tasty. Friendly person behind counter Negatives: Cafe smells of stale frying oil when entering. Poor selection of cakes. Very expensive ! Bowl of soup and piece of bread £8.25 ! Overall pricey for basic menu.

Great food although not cheap £12 for a large breakfast coffee is extra. The staff are friendly enough my issue was the amount of dogs within the cafe along with their inconsiderate owners , I have an allergy to dogs and found it concerning that there were dogs sat on the seats one in particular slobbering over the table the owner of the animal was completely oblivious even letting it lick her face round the mouth areaI found this disgusting. If someone had a food allergy I’m sure that the staff would be sure to enable the customer didn’t come into contact with what ever it is the person is allergic too however dog lovers are selfish and think everyone should be a dog lover this is certainly not the case. Dogs should be kept outside where food is being served it’s unhygienic to say the least the staff seemed to turn a blind eye it was totally unacceptable environmental health should take a look.

Busy afternoon slot. Only 2 tables free Friday lunchtime. Had halloumi burger, onion rings were very greasy. But burger was nice and filling. One glass had orange juice still on the side. And a portion of chips got forgotten. Staff were very smiley and friendly Chairs a little stained, bathroom clean.

Now known as tipsy cow. Hundred times better. Known as tipsy cow. Also own other 1st class restaurants and all are brilliant.

Had a good night, but two young guys were vaping. Asked them to stop but they continued. The bar staff seemed to know them so they seemed not to bother with our request to stop. Will go somewhere else next time.

Family got meal deal for a tenner was good value for money. My curry I paid full price for to take home was an ok curry hardly any so that was not worth the money. Was only 2 other people in midweek lunch Mon

4th visit this year (2025) and each has been super. It’s a bit of a drive but worth the round trip. Well kept beers (Harveys and Larkins at the moment) and food has been well cooked and well presented (tonight for 6 we had pan fried quail and scotch eggs to start, game pie, Lancashire hot pot, ribs and burgers). Cheerful staff and a welcoming fire on a wet and windy evening. Thank you.

We came here for a special occasion after recommendations online. Service was very slow and inattentive. The food was edible. That’s the best I can say about it. And very expensive. For a vegan specialist, it missed the mark by a long way. Decor was lacking. Everywhere else in neals yard looks much nicer. Wouldn’t be returning.

Booked a table at 3:30 for a Sunday roast, arrived well within time and got a drink before hand. At 3:30 we went in to get our table and the older lady at the bar was on the phone sorting out a holiday. She kept telling the person on the phone she was at work but still made no attempt to come off the phone. By now there was a queue of people waiting to be served, leaving one younger lady at the bar dealing with everything. By the time she came off the phone it was 3:40. We explained we had a table booked and she rudely looked at the time, huffed and told us to go to table 10, that the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes and we had to choose something to eat immediately or we would miss out. Without apologising for keeping multiple people waiting at the bar. We cannot fault the service from the other staff at the bar and the girls serving us our food were lovely

Fantastic range of Cornish pasty’s and cakes.

We stayed here again recently, we love this place. Warm and cosy, staff are lovely and the food is fabulous. The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Dog friendly 🐾🐾 and a lovely fire in the bar, great to sit near on a cold winter night. Always a great atmosphere, sadly the sort of place that is becoming few and far between , family run , not a corporate business, long may it last!!!
