Had a good night, but two young guys were vaping. Asked them to stop but they continued. The bar staff seemed to know them so they seemed not to bother with our request to stop. Will go somewhere else next time.

We booked in here for a wee bit of food before the Festival Theatre, which is a 5 minute walk at most. Quite a small pub with a nice atmosphere, really friendly staff and some tasty food. Good range of 0% beers too.

Low key, friendly pub with seriously tasty food. The loaded waffle fries were a particular hit. Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Would recommend.

Eh no … cold and I inviting! Onion rings as a starter were cold and bland .. burgers just as bad’ Tbh no one asked for an order at ourtable .. staff seemed uninterested guy sat on a stool behind bar .. no this,no that, lol laughable!

Met in this busy pub on St Pats night and it was great fun. Good selection of beers, friendly and efficient staff and the food was tasty and served quickly.

I went there with a friend. The pub, was marvellous, the service was outstanding, it was quick and the staff were friendly. Definitely on of the best pubs in Edinburgh.

Greenmantle is a nice wee bar with lovely, friendly, staff and good pub food. Have tried various items on the menu and never been disappointed.

Sat outside in the sunshine with a pint and a really tasty lunch, salad, and chips that were perfect! The lady who served us had dark plaited hair was so so lovely and answered all our many questions. Thankyou!

Restaurante coqueto con una cocina de mucho nivel carnes de caza salsas reducidas mucho cariño y mucha cocina un espectáculo para no perderse, recomendable la liebre con chocolate ( impresionante) el ravioli de bogavante, las vieiras Etc.... Hay que decir que solo usa producto se temporada y todo lo hacen en el restaurante tanto el pan como la pasta fresca , el metre también está a la altura., Felicidades sin duda volveremos

waited ages for 1 girl to serve in a busy saturday afternoon. poor choice of spirits & beer PLUS extortionate prices ...£8.50 for 2 single whiskies & half pint of lager. Absolute RIPP OFF !!!

The Green Mantle was our first meal in Edinburgh after making the overnight flight from the US. Although we had no basis for comparison, the haggis, neeps and tatties were yummy and complimented by Punk IPA, a Brew Dogs favorite in the UK. Service was good, atmosphere was good, and overall, just the right stop for lunch in Edinburgh.

Came in for a drink with my boyfriend and ordered our drinks. The barmaid (small with dark hair) asked me for ID, I get asked for ID all the time so it’s no problem. She kept looking at me and my drivers license making strange faces and handed me it, just to let her know how old I was, as she seemed to think the ID wasn’t mine I replied ‘I’m 26’. She then proceeded to walk over to a male member of staff and discuss me in eyeshot of where I am standing and imitate me pulling faces and speaking with an attitude (presumably trying to insinuate that’s how I spoke to her). She then came back to the bar with two of our drinks and I advised that that was poor customer service, that she would try and mock me to her colleague right in front of me and then bring the drinks over with a smile on her face. She then turned with a smug smile and advised that she wouldn’t be serving us (because of my comment) and walked away when I tried to question it. I asked to speak to the boss, turns out this was the guy she had just been rude about me too, who was very defensive, also rude and had no time for what I had to say. Really disappointed with shocked at the attitude of the manager. It’s completely unacceptable to behave in the way that the barmaid did. I won’t be returning, they have lost customers. We used to enjoy coming in for the food and live music but you don’t go somewhere to pay money to be utterly disrespected and shot down by the manager who ‘will always have his staff members backs’ regardless if they are rude and have zero customer service skills. Never again.

Very unassuming, it sits on a corner of a very busy street--and seems to be a popular place with the locals. We popped in for a late lunch and were genuinely surprised with the menu and the service--simply a great place for food and drink! AND, they have gluten-free options! Easy to locate and well worth the visit.

We stumbled upon this place after originally planning on going to the pear tree, which we found to have no character or ambiance. The green mantel was the opposite! Buckets of character and full of locals and tourists alike. We enjoyed burgers and a few pints. I had the Arthur burger and it was amazing! Whoever thought of putting haggis on a burger is a genius. Great deals going on everyday and student discounts. Will definitely be back soon!

We went I with a wowcher midweek and it had a lovely mix of tourists and friendly locals. Got beer, cocktails and food all of which were fantastic. Chef was from Manchester and very friendly, appreciated a familiar accent. Really lovely spot only a 20 min walk from the royal mile. Good food, good service, good music and a friendly feel. We will be returning next time we are in Edinburgh.

The Green Mantle is one of my favorite places to get a drink in Old Town. The staff are always friendly and take great care when pouring a beer or preparing a cocktail. They have a good selection of beers on draught too. The food is yummy and they host a bunch of events like live music or free gin tastings. It is a fun spot to watch a rugby match and is often full of regulars. The student discount is a bonus.

Fuimos a cenar un martes en el que tienen una oferta que son 2x1 en hamburguesas. Yo me pedí una que tenía carne de cerdo desmenuzada y le añadí el topping de cebolla frita y mi pareja se pidió una hamburguesa con queso de cabra. Ambas acompañadas de patatas fritas y para beber dos pintas. Todo ello por 21£. El trato de las camareras perfecto. El único problema fue que había fútbol esa noche y había bastante jaleo. Pero el local muy acogedor. Además tambien tenían multitud de juegos de mesa para poder jugar. Sin duda muy muy recomendable.

Hands down best burgers in Edinburgh, 2 for 1 on a Monday is an absolutely unpassable offer, never ceases to impress. Staff are very friendly and does student discount, what more do you need?

Muy mal servicio, el personal del bar era grosero. Había muy pocos asientos, así que mi novio y yo estábamos parados en el bar. El personal se ofreció a ayudar a otros clientes a conseguir un asiento justo en frente de nosotros, aunque habíamos estado allí primero y habíamos comprado una bebida. El barman fue grosero y habló sobre mi novio cuando le preguntó sobre el cuestionario que había esa noche. Nos hicieron sentir incómodos y el ambiente es muy poco atractivo, no volvería.

Locale accogliente, con una buona scelta di burgers e birre. Il personale è molto gentile e il servizio rapido. Buono per una cena veloce non distante dal centro, è un po' piccolo quindi i volumi tendono ad essere un po' alti (specie dopo la seconda pinta ;) ) ma comunque carino.

Ils étaient complet en réservation. Et la serveuse nous à quand même trouvé une place pour manger vite fait !

We stumbled in on Monday for the 2 for 1 burger deal. Great burger, good value, and plenty of good drinks. Also fun board games. Just get there before 1930 or you will fight the pub quiz crowds

Please don't go if you looking for a fun night in Edinburgh. The service it's really bad . Definitely i will avoid this place on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Visited here on Friday with a group of friends and had amazing food and service. The burgers were outstanding!!

Great little corner pub,plenty of seating with a great selection of beers and spirits.They also do meals,and it looks a popular student venue,offering musicians on certain evenings.

My parents always go to this pub. The drinks are always at a good temperature. The food is always great and it comes fast which is good if you are in a rush. The prices are reasonable for their food and drinks. Children are not allowed in under the age of 5 so no babies. Staff are friendly and always happy to engage in conversation.

Acabábamos de ver un espectáculo en el Fringe Festival y luchando por encontrar un lugar donde comer de ir a ver el desfile de Edimburgo. Luego encontramos el manto Verde - una joya de lugar. Excelente servicio y la acogida de la señorita que nos nos dijo el lunes ofrecen descuento así como aceptar estudiantes. Pedimos 7 comidas que llegamos en buen tiempo gran presentación y muy sabroso! Gran variedad de bebidas también! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente!

Probamos este lugar, después de sacar una lista de Tripadvisor. Los visitantes que vienen por primera vez a Edimburgo. Lugar pequeño, pero muy acogedor. La universidad está cerca, así que vimos algunas de las multitudes, pero venga college también algunos lugareños. El personal era genial, y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. Nos dieron la hamburguesa de búfalo (Cheiftain con Haggis y queso cheddar) y un clásico Pollo Burger. Ambos eran excepcionales. Esta hamburguesa era una buena manera de probar un poco de haggis por primera vez. Ambos vinieron con un lado hamburguesas de papas fritas./patatas fritas También nos dieron el Sticky Toffee Pudding con helado. Super sabroso. Se sirve caliente y estaba delicioso. Buenas cervezas de barril. Sin duda volveremos aquí de nuevo!

Fui a comerme esa pedazo de hamburguesa que podéis ver en la foto, está buenísima y todo lo que pidas también. Mi pareja Raul, mi hermana,y sobrina pidieron lo mismo y quedamos encantados con la atención que nos dieron Alfonso y Ailsa, dos chicos encantadores,y amables. Recomiendo este lugar tanto para comer como para tomar unas cervezas y escuchar música en vivo que suelen tener por la noche.

Lovely place to visit for food, would definitely recommend the BBQ pulled pork chips as they are amazing for the price.

We came across this place, on the evening that happened to be 241 on burgers. The food did not disappoint and the staff were fantastic. It felt more like a local pub and it wasn't too touristy which, although we were tourists, I prefer.

We ate on a Saturday evening & were able to reserve a table. The food was typical pub food & was nice. The service was a bit slow & it took a while to bring our food out- it came out at different times. The waitress did seem busy though. The vegetarian haggis was something worth trying. Dog friendly too!

We like this place. A bit scruffy and vintage inside. real ales and not overpriced. The food was pretty good value too. Not gourmet, but hearty. In Causey next to another nice pub. and around the corner from 56 North and the church.

Encontramos este bonito lugar durante mis vacaciones en Edimburgo. Para ser breve, hamburguesas buenas bebidas, buena música en un ambiente fresco. Volvería a ir cada vez de nuevo.

Tipico pub scozzese, ottimo ambiente..personale davvero cortese e servizio abbastanza veloce. Vasto assortimento di birre, abbiamo mangiato mac & cheese (in astinenza da pasta italiana..) e Buffalo Pie, assolutamente consigliata! La carne aveva davvero un ottimo sapore ed era cotta alla perfezione; per finire abbiamo diviso un waffle con gelato e cioccolato, in coppia abbiamo speso £34. Ci tornerei volentieri a provare qualche altro piatto!

I went with a group of friends, the place is nice and cozy and the food was very good, but: so slow! Both to be able to order and mostly to give us our food (almost everybody ordered a burger). Then I would give 5 stars for the food, and because they have good student deals, but the waiting time brings it to 4 stars.

Se nos hizo un poco tarde paseando y llegamos a este sitio por casualidad. Es el típico pub para tomar una cerveza y una hamburguesa en clerk street. Como opción vegetariana ofrecen ensalada de halloumi pero para mi gusto estaba muy salada. El boniato asado te lo sirven con dos toppings distintos. También es buena opción. Precio medio 10£ por cabeza.

Came here with my other half for a drink and it wasn't busy but felt crowded. It was really really dark and the tables were all rocky or dirty. The drinks were reasonably priced and a huge selection of gin. I did notice after being there, there are a lot of positive reviews, so I don't know if it was a one-off. I'd most likely return if it was a bit brighter.

Stopped at the Green mantle pub enroute to a gig at Queens Hall on Clerk Street. Looking at the map it appears further than it actually is to the venue so is really handy for a meal before you go to your gig. The pub ain't a big place and the atmosphere is of a good local pub with high stools at barrels and pew benches. However after ordering some real ale at the friendly bar my party of 3 got a seat no problem and a were attended to very well by friendly staff once we had decided our choices from an extensive menu. The Chieftain burgers went down a treat and the scampi was rated highly also. Nice beers,good food, efficient, friendly staff and a super location for Queens Hall event. We shall return and will recommend.

The burgers rock! I had mine with portobello mushroom and blue cheese and it was absolutely delicious. Add in a pint of IPA, and you have the perfect pub for a burger and a pint.

Visited this small pub with family and friends. Amazing and reasonably priced buffalo burgers with curly fries. I would recommend "the chieftain" with haggis and cheese, you can add jalapenos for £1 as I did. The dragon (egg, jalapenos and hot sauce), meat feast (bacon, pulled Pork and 2 burgers)and the goat (goats cheese and onion rings)are also very impressive. Clean environment and good atmosphere, despite football on telly. Good service, staff pleasant, efficient and polite. If you still have,space after your burger they do good sticky toffee pudding.

Fun little bar, had some curly fries and a couple drinks, the people are nice and the drinks flowed. The decor was eclectic and the people were on the older side, but as we were there later it started to switch over to a younger crowd. Would go back.

Visited on an ITISON voucher and we were very impressed. We had chicken strips with chilli sauce to start and they were delicious. I had the chicken burger with cheese and bacon which was delicious and my wife had the buffalo burger which also nice was not as good as mine, great choice by me. The staff are happy and attentive and we will definitely be back. I cannot believe how many times we have passed this pub and never bothered to go in, they do great deals throughout the week so get yourself along.Thank you

The four of us stopped in for a bowl of soup; this pub was recommended by a local on the bus. It's patronized by the locals and we had a really nice time chatting with them; very friendly & the soup was good!

The buffalo (not bison!) burgers are delicious and the Scottish cheddar is powerful and a delight as well. Nice beer selection and a cozy pub.

The food and the staff in this quaint little pub are second to none we have been there now about five or six times and each time we have had a great experience, the burgers are extremely good and highly recommended.

Fraîchement arrivés à Edinbourg, nous sommes tombés sur ce pub, pas déçu par l'ambiance cosy d'un dimanche soir, de bonnes bières, des plats sympas! Une vraie découverte avec des serveurs nice ! In edinburgh for one day, popped in as the wife and I were peckish..service ok but I ordered beef and ale hot pot...It was so cold, I could have used the beef as ice cubes.I asked if I could have a plain hamburger instead, I got a burger with everything on it..third time lucky

We wanted to go to a place the possibly had parking nearby and that wasn't directly in the city center. This fit both! We were happy with everything. Good beer on draught, and the food was great too. I had the Mac & Cheese with chips and garlic bread. It was soooo delicious! There was so much food! Definitely come hungry. The staff is really friendly too. We went on a Sunday night, and it wasn't crowded at all. Nice place to go for a beer or a bite.

Popped in here for a burger and a few drinks whilst visiting Edinburgh recently, there's such a great atmosphere and there's plenty of choice when it comes to food. The staff are friendly, offered great service and made me feel really welcome particularly the small red head and tall bearded man

The Greenmantle is one of the few sites in Edinburgh that offers late kitchen (later than 11pm!), which undoubtedly places it among the favourite for summer tourists trying to make the most of the daylight visiting the city. Here you can have pub-style food, and the burger and beer selection is not bad at all! They sometimes have live music, especially during the summer, and can be very busy during weekends. It is a great place for group diners and celebrations!

Wir sind im Rahmen eines Groupon-Gutscheins in diesem Pub gewesen, das offenbar Gäste allen Alters anzieht. Unsere Burger waren gut, die Atmosphäre sehr laut, Fußballübertragung life. Die anschließende Live-Music war leider sehr schlecht über die Mikrophone ausgesteuert, es tat ein wenig in den Ohren weh, sonst wären wir wohl länger geblieben. Besonders zu bemerken sei, dass - als wir durch einen sehr betrunkenen Gast etwas belästigt wurden, sofort - ohne dass wir etwas sagen mussten - der Koch aus der Küche gestürzt kam und den Herrn der Tür verwiesen hat. Das hat uns wirklich sehr imponiert. Toller Blick auf und für die Gäste!
