What a fantastic place! Adorned with Auto stuff.I went in the very pleasant garden for earl dinner.A limited but sufficient choice on the menu, even for veggies like me.I asked to swap around the accompanying dishes, which was well received.I started with homemade onion rings ,which were really made on site.My mushroom and leek pie was also premises made and the minted mushy peas and herbed mashed potatoes excellent.Great pub food, best I have had for a long time,at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this place after a day in nearby Kirkby Stephen & so glad we did, in a beautiful location, plenty of parking, it also offers rooms. Also offers motor home/camping, was told that if you eat/drink in the pub there would be no charge. The place is full of motorbilia, which was fantastic, the owner is a petrolhead and offers classic car club tours around the beautiful countryside. We had dinner and this was delicious 😊 and it’s also very dog friendly 🐶 & everywhere lovely and clean. It’s worth visiting just to see all the car memorabilia!!

If you like old cars you have to visit here. It's brim full of memorabilia all over the place. It's also very dog friendly and they do dog portions of sausages and chicken nuggets. The food isn't cheap but it's very tasty and well made. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Gorgeous setting as is everything around the area.

Location, great. Service, ok. Food, poor quality and over priced. Greek bean stew with no flavour. Bread served almost dried out. Saute potatoes were good. Lamb moussaka had minimal lamb and was heavy on tomato paste. Seems like yet another pub in Cumbria that is maximising profit by reducing food quality.

We were a party of 6 and none of us enjoyed our food. The lamb was chewy and mostly fat and very lacking in flavour. The “beef bourguignon” was just loads of fatty cubes of beef in gravy. The mash was hard and flavourless. The price of the food is nearly £20 per head so we were very unhappy with the quality vs price. The younger staff were all lovely and friendly however the older blonde lady at reception was rude and looked very unhappy with our presence. Would not come back here.

Accommodation a bit shabby and rooms could do with a good dusting. If you stay and need to cancel no refund, even if they have people that are in need of the accommodation, they can only forward your booking for a future date (subject to availability) lovely memorabilia in the restaurant. Breakfast is a small portion but ask if you need more!

We hadn’t booked, but that wasn’t a problem. We chose a table in shade, outside. Lots of choice for lunch on the menu & a specials board. We chose cold sandwiches, hot sausage baguette & Niçoise salad. The food was freshly made, generously filled sandwiches with a dressed salad & fries. It was a really lovely lunch in stunning surroundings, with a view to die for. The Pub itself is very quirky, full of automotive memorabilia. Highly recommend.

We popped in here for lunch a few days ago, as we were only staying five miles away. The bar and restaurant are really fitted out great. I think the owner may be a Petrolhead as there are lots of motor related pictures, signs and relics there. Adds great character to the place. The staff were very welcoming and warm, which makes all the difference. I had the four sausages and mash and the wife had the steak and stilton pie with mash. And I have to say, these meals were probably the best meals we have both had anywhere. We were so impressed with how tasty they were. Prices were your standard these days, but quantity and quality were just incredible! In fact, it was such a great experience that we went back again tonight. This time I had the steak and stilton pie which was packed, and the wife had the lamb cutlets that were like doorstops. Another great meal. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quality food

This is a no frills family run pub with fantastic home cooked food and friendly efficient service. We came here back in 2021 when we stayed at a farm nearby and had a great dining experience, so as we were staying in the area again, decided to return. I had the terrine as a starter, lamb roast and an apple sponge desert. All were fresh, tasty and great value for money. The setting is fantastic as well. Only suggestion would be to perhaps expand the beer offering with a decent craft (Neck Oil or something).

Delicious home cooked food. The pies are epic & could be a little more generous only because they are soooo tasty!! Generous filling. Fish & chips were yummy - the chips are homemade. Yes homemade!! All in all a delicious meal. The children’s meals are the right size & the tomato pasta was delicious for our fussy eater who ate 2/3 of the bowl before she was too full for any more.

Had Sunday lunch with family. My mother had the Sunday lamb roast and all she ate was the one roast potato. The Yorkshire pudding was very burnt, hard and inedible and the lamb was sinewy and so gristly she couldn’t even cut it up let alone eat it. She’s in her 90s and never usually complains about anything but she said it was the worst meal she’d ever had. I did tell a member of staff when they came to take the plates but she said a cursory sorry and that was it. It was quite clear that the food was inedible as it remained uneaten on her plate so she should have been offered reimbursement or at least some money off or perhaps a free pudding even a free coffee or something! Sadly it fell on deaf ears! Very disappointed with the attitude. I was also disappointed with the fact there was no veggie roast dinner option on the menu and there was also no veggie burger for some reason which was on the menu. Sadly that left only 3 vegetarian choices. I had roast veg cannelloni and it was ok but not very inspiring. Was also surprised that there appeared to be only one female toilet. It’s quite a big pub so I had to queue. It wasn’t the cleanest and only a soggy well used and grubby towel to dry your hands. On the plus side I liked all the old car memorabilia.

Great country pub with interesting motoring related interior. Pity the food was very disappointing. Fish & chips should be easy for any chef but thefish was badly undercooked and sat on top of soggy chips and there were bits if old black chips as well. Got a refund but went away hungry.

Encantador. Definitivamente volveré a llamar.

The service from all the staff is fantastic. The restaurants are excellent, the food perfect and the rooms so comfortable. We were so fortunate to have an upgrade to a beach side chalet, the housekeeping staff kept it immaculate. The beaches are small, but as there are such a relatively small number of guests there is plenty of room for everyone. The lighting at night is so atmospheric! Has to be Sen to be believed. We were so glad we were staying for over three weeks. Journey of around 45 minutes from and to the airport can be arranged by Rocky's and there is a free minibus twice a day into the nearly town of Lamai for the restaurants (recommend Two Guys), tailors and massages. We ate here as a family group on a Sunday evening in October. This combines the atmosphere of a country guesthouse and a rural pub. As it is neither in nor near a village it lacks the "local" atmosphere, but makes up for it with a range of motoring memorabilia harking back to a past incarnation as a filling station. Our meal was very satisfying. The roast trio special was tasty and generous, the local sirloin excellent, the desserts good, the service friendly and attentive. Recommendable.

Myself and my partner have just returned home from a lovely 2 night stay at the Fat Lamb. This was bought as an experience voucher from a High Street store and included afternoon tea.

The room was average but as a Walker I just wanted a bath and comfy bed. The staff went out of their way to help and dried my soaking clothes and got me breakfast half and hour early. My meal was lovely, the best fish pie I have had in ages and I am something of an expert! Also lovely atisanal ice-cream

We stayed about a mile away from this pub and didn't bother looking for anywhere else to eat after we tasted their delicious food. I had the pork shin one evening and the confit duck leg another and both were absolutely scrummy, the best meat I had eaten in a long time! My husband is a vegetarian and there were various options that he could have including the vegetarian burger and roasted vegetable fill pastry parcel. He said I shouldn't give five stars as he felt the portion of chips that was served with the burger was too small!! It was great that we could take our dogs with us to eat and we also liked the variety of gins that were on offer. I enjoyed a few strawberry gin and tonics :) A great pub in a beautiful location.

Great menu with plenty choices. Our choices were well cooked and presented. I loved the Cumberland Sausage Wheel it was very tasty served with mustard mash and a good selection of fresh vegetables. The red onion marmalade that accompanied the sausage was delicious. The other half opted for fish pie which he ate with relish declaring it very good.I even managed a dessert as I find Sticky Toffee Pudding hard to resist. Served with the local ice cream it was sublimeBest of all our two Jack Russells were allowed with us.

We ate here on 27 July, six of us, and had 3 steaks, a risotto, a burger and a gammon all followed by puddings. Two bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and a beer and bottles of water and the bill was £162 which is pretty good value when I had budgeted > £200+This is a pub that does good food and not really a restaurant, however, they did a good job and the staff were very friendly. I dropped a couple of very big hints that one of the party was having a birthday but there was no 'Happy Birthday' sung nor a candle in sight. I think that was an opportunity missed by the owner/manager but whatever! The location is very scenic and parking free and quite easy.

We stayed here for three nights and were very comfortable. Our room was furnished in a functional rather than modern style but we had everything we needed for a short stay.Breakfasts were cooked to order and offered a fair choice. We ate in one evening and dinner was well presented and good value for money. It's well worth taking a walk around the nature reserve attached to the pub - it's open to all - but be prepared for a bit of mud.Service throughout was by really friendly people who seemed happy to see you. If I'm allowed one niggle it's that breakfast doesn't start till 8:30 which is a little later than I would have liked.

A nice looking pub with a nice beer garden to the rear but quite dated inside. The food was ok but the beef was a little tough, the veg poor and the steak pie wasn't the best. The staff are far too young and don't seem to have a clue. Making up our bill seemed quite traumatic for them and they made several mistakes with it.

Booked two nights on a Wowcher offer. I think we definitely got the 'offer' room - room 2. It was tiny. It may have been suitable for a single occupant with only about a foot between the bed and wall. My husband and I are not big people and we had a small bag each for our two night stay. There was nowhere to put the bags and I had to climb over mine to get into bed. We were lucky with the weather during our stay and temperatures reached 25+ degrees. Unfortunately room 2 is over the kitchen and the sun shines in through the window all day so consequently it was so hot in there it was extremely uncomfortable almost unbearable. We asked at reception if there was a fan available, there was no fan and not much sympathy for us being in a sweltering room. Even with the windows open the room was airless and claustrophobic. The bed was OK, pillows were a bit lumpy. Plenty of electric points for chargers, hairdryer etc. Tea and coffee making facilities. The TV was tiny. The bathroom had both shower and bath, however the shower head is fixed into the wall so high it's impossible to shower without soaking your hair. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night of our stay. The dining room décor could be classified as dated or traditional depending on your point of view. Service was slow and we could not help but overhear that a large group were dissatisfied with one dish not being available. We had pheasant wrapped in Serrano ham and beef brisket both were reasonably good. Our wine was brought to our table already corked and the cork was not presented. My husband found out why -lots of cork in his glass.Breakfast was OK. Buffet for juice, cereal, yogurt and fruit. Large group had made short work of the fruit and yogurt. There were a few breakfast choices. The scrambled eggs very nice, sausage a bit spicy.Location is spectacular and I would never tire of view. Agree that the place could do with some updating. Some staff need some basic customer service training and please, for the sake of other unsuspecting guests, stop letting room 2 as a double room.

Food tasty and good hand pulled ale. Friendly and very accommodating of dogs and children something not so common these days. Odd thing makes it not quite hit the mark eg pudding was only lukewarm, waitress fairly brusque and also forgot to bring out some things and a couple of mistakes with order. All corrected with no big deal and adds to character in odd way. If you go expecting 5* perfection you'll be disappointed. If you go for tasty pub grub with old school character you'll be ok!

I was on a ride out and after reading about on the internet I decided to plan a route to include this inn for lunch. The area is lovely and the staff were very nice. I had roast topside beef with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The veg was in separate dish. I also had a pot of coffee and a glass of water.I was around 2 pm and quite busy but people were spaced out so not crowded. There were big groups but they sat outside. I had several alterations to menus requested and I think that's a good sign of service. My food was very nice and filling. i had 2 cups of coffee out of the pot and meal came to £14.25 which I think is reasonable given the quality and amount of meat.I think its worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Inn is situated few miles outside of Kirkby Stephen on a country road, surrounded by farmland and the owners own nature reserve nearby. We had a spacious ground floor room directly at the side of the road, this wasn't too much of a problem as the road was very quiet and didn't cause us any disturbance. I noted that the rooms at the front of the Inn were double glazed and feel the room would also have benefited from this, particularly once it starts to get lighter for longer and the farmers work longer hours. The room itself was a little tired looking, but had all the necessary facilities in place for making a brew, with plenty of sockets for charging phones and tablets etc. The TV is a tad on the small side and so far away that we made use of the wifi to watch Netflix on our tablets in bed. The king size bed was very comfortable, but would have benefited from a super king duvet as we fought over the covers on our first night when the temperature dropped during the night. Our border collier was one of a number of dogs staying at the Inn and it is apparent that it is a very popular choice for dog owners, that being said, the rooms were very clean and tidy on our arrival. We ate our meals in the bar area with our dog, the menu is good pub fare, using local produce and was both tasty and filling. There is a choice of cooked breakfast with the option for cereals, fruit and yoghurt. We had no complaints about the Fat Lamb, we found it to be average, clean and comfortable.

Please do not be put off by other reviewer's comments of the dated décor. Look beneath the surface and this inn offers so much more... True, the inn could do with a bit of TLC, but the warm welcome more than made up for this. The inn has a beautiful garden at the rear, with access to it's own small nature reserve. The ales were declared to be top quality by my husband, who often remarks quite loudly if they are not! Food was incredibly good and, though travelling with a child and an excitable dog, we were made to feel extremely welcome here. An excellent place to stay.

Great name and a lovely bar area with a roaring fire. As it was a last minute decision we never thought to book a table but they kindly squeezed us in for a 630 sitting. Unfortunately there were no tables in the bar area but nevertheless the food was nice with a juicy 10oz sirloin cooked medium rare spot on and the fish pie was equally nice. Attentive staff and very reasonably priced. Only downfall is the decor. A bit of investment and refurbishment would transform the dining experience entirely. Good experience from a dining perspective though.
