OK food was ok staff not the Friendlys today maybe because it's a Sunday

Large fuel forecourt, well stocked shop.

Good staff, great facilities, foods ok too.

Such clean toilets- I had an amazing chicken pie and shortbread- best I’ve ever had actually

Still a good breakfast and if you've got the J38 card you're in line for a free coffee

Easy to get in and out of and great service

A fantastic truck stop with lots of amenities. The toilets are always spotless, the shower rooms have toilets inside and are also very clean, can be accessed by a key code. The garage has lots of gourmet type foods such as sausage rolls, Scotch eggs and a variety of sweet treats.

Not the most welcoming of services.

Parking for cars is a bit limited, and it's not what you'd call inviting on the outside, but the food in the cafe is great. A 10-piece breakfast saw me good for the whole day, and Sunday lunch on my way home was really good too. A no frills truck-stop, offering good food and great value.

Good parking showers are clean good food

My goodness what a transformation !! The truck stop has always been my go to for fuel.. and nibbles but the selection of hot and cold foods mostly locally made , is stunning and much cheaper than the crazy prices across the rd( motorway) at Tebay services !! The staff are welcoming and wonderful the Lois pristine .. luxury.. cannot wait to call back for brekky sometime soon at the café !!♥️♥️♥️♥️

Tebay has sadly followed so many other examples of once good places becoming popular and then losing what made them popular in the first place. Used to to be great quality but now feels like any number of other service stations. So sad that family run businesses get greedy and expand or sell out and the quality and service plummets. Americano coffee rubbish more like a filter coffee. Don't bother making a special stop here

Think this place is getting too big for its boots. Overpriced lukewarm food 2 pie, chips and peas. Hard pastry huge chunky chips barely warm Macaroni cheese cold and sticky 2 coffees both cold 1 soft drink £47! Style over substance

Cracking breakfast and meals available at great prices

my favourite foods pasties n the pie's n I've had the Best cheese n onion pasty .was at J38 Truck stop n very helpful chef,n nice tidy good atmosphere friendly staff. on my next trip to upnorth I'll definitely come here again

Stopped at south bound services farm shop for some breakfast and to look around the shop. Very poor breakfast . Food was barely warm and we paid £27 for two 5 item breakfasts consisting of half tomato. One slice bacon .cold fried egg. one sausage and black pudding .Told there was no white toast and there was just one piece of brown toast available. Breakfast conversation drowned out by building noise so all in all , not a pleasant experience . We went on to spend £120 in the farm shop on some nice gifts and we have called in at Tebay on many occasions as we dont live far away but we certainly wont purchase breakfast again. Would not reccomend .

Unfurtnetly the whole place going down. Used to be one of the best truck stop around the north but things are changing Food is tasteless, staff is rude. I think can finde beter places where could spend the money.

I always stop at Tebay services and farm shop if in this area. I get the honey and mustard chipolatas tub from the hot food shop/stand - delicious. The shops are beautiful and you will always find something different BUT at a high price. I don't mind paying more for something special so always come away with something. In November I bought a variety of cheese crackers. I got two jars of sauces this time to accompany my seafood. I find the deli food over priced and disappointing e.g. the pork pies with different toppings aren't as tasty as they look. Underwhelming. This time I tried a spinach and stilton potato cake which looked like a muffin but it only tasted of mash. I'll stop again and buy again because it's a treat and if you need anything a bit different for a gift it's great. Also a good place to exercise the dog after an hour in the car.

Stopped for lunch whilst working in the area food was flavoursome & hot & reasonably priced couldn't fault it

Really good truck stop Secure,No trailer swaps and fridges have a separate bit to park up. good price £26 with a shower voucher and £10meal voucher best food iv at at a truck stop homemade cottage pie. Showers and toilets where clean only thing is I’d say is you don’t get long for the shower as it’s on a timer. If you like to go for a walk it’s a good place to stop and if your looking for a pub turn right out the truck stop walk straight until you come across the cross keys

SOOOO much cheaper for fuel than the motorway services 2 miles up the road. Think it may be run by the same company.

Always a warm and friendly welcome here. Food is always top quality and plenty of space for overnight parking. Always a pleasure stopping here

Never again, first the guy where you pay for parking has attitude, giving the rolling eye 🔔 Then I got ripped off with the food voucher, what is it with these people, without truck drivers you’d be nothing!

Great service restaurant and toilets nipping clean

Got to the truck stop for my 45 and a breakfast at 10:30 to be told that had stopped the breakfast, because they had been busy. If you advertise breakfast untill 11 o'clock, cook it untill 11 o'clock. Settled on what was described as Chilli and rice, what came was insipid mince and rice, the only thing that made it look like chilli was it had red beans, no flavour or seasoning. Luckily they had Tobacco, had to use the equivalent of at least 4 tablespoons just to give it some flavour and heat. Not recommended.

Disappointing now. Not as good as it used to be. Food gone downhill. Staff seemed moody and not wanting to be there. Rather run over my time.

Ive been parking here for years & its still one of my favourite truck stops in the uk.i can’t fault it & always try & get here to spend the night if I have time.

Clean, pleasant staff, reasonably priced fuel. Really good pies, not cheap pies but excellent quality

The food in this place has dramatically gone downhill in quality since covid. Not the selection on display there used to be, doesn't taste as nice and then when you do get it its served in something resembling a dog bowl rather than a plate so you end up with a pile of slop at the bottom depending on what you"ve ordered once you're half way through your meal. Shame because it used to be up there with the best.

Great food from the cafe and the Shop.and fuel is a decent price. Staff are really friendly.

Toilet and showers have been modernised, and now look at the towel warmer in the individual shower rooms! Look at my other reviews to see where I've been!

Currently in a flu pandemic, I got served by a lady that clearly had bad cold and couldn’t stop coughing! Not covering the mouth to cough, last time I will ever try to eat here

Mixed opinion. I filled up first and the ladies in the forecourt shop were lovely and helpful and have me a food voucher as I took over 200litres. I wasn't going to eat as I only had 30 minutes but I decided to as I was given the voucher. My question is, is this a cafe for Doris and Gordon or is it a truckstop. It took 17 minutes of my precious 30 minute break to get my food as there were non truckers infront. I usually don't have an issue but seeing as this is a trucks only services, a truckstop... I would have liked to think we'd be given priority. I had to get my food to takeaway and by the time I'd waited in yet another queue to pay for my food, it was cold. It's either an exclusively hgv only, or a general services. It'd safe to say this place has gone downhill since I last visited in 2018! However, the food it delicious.

Great services, all you would expect clean toilets and showers….. But if you want the eyes roll, attitude go to the pay for parking and the man behind the counter will give you the lot in one sitting!!! This isn’t the first time I’ve had this experience with him!!!

Take your dog in next time you visit. Food is overpriced and only fit for dog food. As a Truckstop diner it’s a joke food wise

This is probably my favourite motorway cafe. Food always hits the spot. Has a shop attached selling all kinds of stuff. Nice clean toilets and changing room.

AVOID THIS PLACE Need to remortgage your home or sell your ass at the truck stop to buy anything They no longer sell 330ml cans of pop profits weren't enough for the greedy owner 26£ for 30g of players tobacco £30.30 for amberleaf there is a co-op 10 minutes down the road

The only good thing is safe parking. Food is too expensive. Also wasn't clean in the evening.They count water as well. I am disappointed

Food was disappointing! Cold chips and beans, burger only warm over priced for nearly £9, and to top it off £2.95 for a bottle of coke!! Absolute shambles!! From one of the best truck stops it’s gone right down In my estimation!

Transport food , not a lot of parking for cars but less frenetic than a regular motorway service station.

Just dropped in to junction 38 truck stop thinking try here instead of services a little bit further north. Wow what a diomand place. clean surroundings , staff going out of their way to help and by no means good cheaper food than expected of motorway stop off. Small compact services but has some very nice local produce

foods not bad staff pleasant they have put money into the place to bring it up to scratch and you notice it straight away

Markings on the ground for the car part of the station were very worn and difficult to see in the dark but once on site the fuel is at least 25p a litre cheaper than the motorway services so well worth the 5 minutes detour!

Excellent place for fuel and food. The garage also has a decent shop too. The food is great & the kitchen is run by the Tebay service station business (that's why it's so good). I had fish and chips which was cooked fresh after I ordered.

Stopped at J38 services for breakfast this morning, very helpful staff good quality breakfast and good value too. We refuelled there too which was reasonable and the shop is Westmorland products.

This is a great place. By the motorway, it is a country store selling fruit, vegetables, meat and groceries. We had lunch in the restaurant, the food was really good and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend it to travellers/visitors to this area.

Good place for a break, nice and clean

I am disappointed, the shower is limited in time and it is not enough to wash away the fatigue. But the main failure is that the water turns off without warning or it is very quiet, but I am left half soapy without the possibility to extend it for at least a minute. By the way, the shower is not free. In fairness I will say that in general there is a good parking for trucks, clean toilets and polite staff.

Cheap and cheerful. Plus they have shower facilities too. Just off the motorway 🛣 🙌 😎

My father, sister and I came to the truck stop as our car broke down 15 miles away on a precarious road and the tow truck driver dropped us off here, we had to sleep in the car, but the staff at this location were very kind and looked after us all for 14 hours and one of the colleagues was so kind that she went to her car and let my sister borrow her blanket. The food at this location was fantastic and really well priced and when we needed help with anything they helped with a smile and a positive approach to all situations I strongly recommend for everyone to come to this location for the positive environment and fantastic customer service and especially the fantastic food they sell

Last place before motorway. Watch the grating on the road as its slippy before the motorway. Met some interesting cars: 'The Garbage Run' NL.

Foods fine, plenty of parking space and different levels of price depending on your requirements.

Adele went well out of her way to help me and some fellow walkers. I am extremely grateful for her kindness.

I've been using these services for over 20 years on & off, but not been in for the last 8 years. It's not as good food wise as it used to be, staff are very friendly still and facilities are clean & pleasant enough.
