2nd time my sister being home from France that weâve come for dinner. Thank you again for making our evening so special and especially interacting with the boys about the football they were following. Those small touches make such a difference. The food is amazing as is the customer service is second to none. See you next time!

another over rated restaurant service is good atmosphere is good hygiene looks good taste of good ⊠something they should really pay attention to ⊠naan (bread) basket is the only acceptable dish we ordered ⊠chicken biryani, I read that many commented rice so soft & great ⊠but this is like mushy & overall biryani rice taste simply not there (i think most other âordinaryâ biryani seller do better than this Paneer tikka, no comment just dissapointed Methi chicken masala, ordered this so we can dip gravy for our bread ⊠super heavy and super rich dish, I mean super super heavy, as if chef has put 5x spices required to cook this dish (we feel our stomach so stuffed the rest of the day, thatâs bad) After our order placed, waitress recommend Papaddom (just 3 pieces) to eat together with biryani we ordered - best part is âafterâ accepted this ârecommendationâ, she commented to us that we must be hungry (obviously we ordered too much, then why not telling us, also pushed another dish to us?) Mango lassi we normally love to order, too thick and rich to finish ⊠Maybe they pay all attention to services, atmosphere and everything, but ⊠they forgotten they suppose to serve nice dishes?!? Because all this, this is super expensive & totally not worth the money ⊠first and last visit for us đ

What has happened between the glowing reviews in December and our visit on 26th February? We received neither the excellent service or food mentioned. The food was average, the service was brusque and surly. It was quite clear the staff wanted to close the restaurant and go home (we arrived at 8.20pm), which was emphasised when they started bringing bags of rubbish through the restaurant as we, and the other occupied table were still eating. The prices on the restaurant menu were different to the online prices, but we didnât mention it since we hoped to have a good meal. Once seated we were given paper serviettes, which the owner apologised for and said theyâd run out of cloth napkins (at 8.20pm on a Wednesday?), we said it wasnât an issue. We ordered two plain and two spicy poppadoms, the owner returned and said they had no spicy poppadoms, so we ordered four plain. Since it was a rare occasion when we werenât driving we ordered the litre of Italian red wine offered on the menu, apparently that wasnât available either. The bottle of wine that we were served was not the one we ordered, and still we didnât show our frustration as we continued to hope for a good meal. When the food came the chicken biryani was ok, the chicken balti however bore no resemblance to any balti weâve ever had. It was bright red, contained red peppers and lacked fresh coriander. It was spicy and tasty but was not a balti. When we finished our meal half the biryani was left and a lot of sauce from the âbaltiâ so we asked for it all to be boxed up to take home. Since several takeaways had been collected during our meal we didnât think it would be an issue, but although the waiter took the two parts of the biryani to box up, he made it clear it was a nuisance. He came to clear the rest of the table and I asked for the balti sauce to take as well, that really upset him, as he walked away we heard him say âoh my godâ. When the food was brought back to us there was only one container, they had poured the balti sauce all over the biryani, spoiling both curries! It hadnât occurred to me that I would have to point out that Iâd like it boxed up separately, presumably they donât put balti in the same box as biryani for takeaway customers. It almost felt like it had been done through spite - and yet, despite all the frustrations, weâd been more than pleasant throughout the meal.

This restaurant has impressed us yet again. We turned up midweek to find it bustling and I am not surprised. The service was attentive but not intrusive and all staff were polite. But the highlight was the quality of the food. It is not the first time we have eaten here and have found the food to be exemplary. The appetisers were exactly that, whetting our appetite and leaving us in anticipation of the main course. This did not disappoint, with a jamboree of flavours and perfectly balanced spices they were a mouthwatering feast, with generous helpings. The drinks are reasonable too, and my wife has even enjoyed a cocktail with her meal before. I think we have found by far the best Indian restaurant in the area in Bhujon.

Many moons back, my Indian wife and I were havering about buying a house on the Cambridge hill, waked down for a meal at what was then Cocum, subsequently Nivedyam and now Pakka - and the quality of the meal led us to set up home nearby! I should explain that I am a Professor of English Literature and Religious Studies, and my wife, one of my first research students in Cambridge, comes from a centuries-old Brahmin family of Hindu saints and scholarly pundits. Hence, when we have visitors from our Indian family or academic guests from the world over to entertain, it is vital to take them to a restaurant that represents the best of Indian (and, in particular,of Kerala cuisine. So we keep a close eye and a sensitive tongue on any change to our much-prized Cocum and I am delighted to report that two visits now to the smart re-vamped restaurant, now PAKKA, have convinced us that the upgrade is stylish (though the image of Shiva is without his flute!), the food as good as ever (I am told the kitchen staff are the same) - and the student waitresses who are from Kerala, quite as charming as the food and decor. Disappointed that having ordered from the car park outside that the order hadn't been started by our pick up time, around 26 minutes. Nevermind, we weren't in a hurry so waited another 30 minutes but when we got home the rice was missing. The food was nice overall but the chapati was reported to be, 'weirdly moist and flavourless'
