Just a delivery £55 for the two of us . It’s shocking !!! Watered down masala sauce and when I rang to complain he said it’s the water in it!!! What it should be cream . Tandoori was re heated . But when he started defending him self I hung up . I told them it’s on the side in my kitchen I’m not eating it . Rude rude . Normally good food here . When I asked if the chef had changed they said no…. And I had 2 pieces of lamb in my bhuna .. SHOCKING .. they not even rang back to apologise.. . I’m the one on priorslee lads if you decide to get your food back I did tell u where I lived .. absolutely horrible

Food does not live up to the huge promise on reading the menu. All the four different main dishes tasted about the same. Ambience was poor as there was hardly anyone in on Saturday evening. Staff were okay’ish, some not very talkative. Table too small for four people. Now, the wine. 1 bottle of Chablis for £34! £34!! Did not realise this until we got home and looked at the bill. Unbelievable price. We feel like we’ve been ripped off. We will not be back as it is really the same as any other Indian restaurant.

We heard a lot of good comments about the Shifnal Cottage so my wife and I thought we would give it a try. What we heard proved to be correct, The restaurant was nice and clean and we were met by the welcoming staff who showed us to our table. I have to say our food was of a very high standard up there with one of the best experiences we have had, we did not have to wait long between ordering and receiving our food of which all 3 courses tasted delicious. Cannot say a bad thing about the place and we look forward to returning very soon, highly recommended, Thank you all at the Shifnal Cottage Well done

Went for daughters birthday as it’s the only Indian restaurant she will visit. Brilliant meal as always. Staff very attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant, including outside is spotless. We have eaten in Indian restaurants all over the UK on holiday but have never found one as good as this one.

Very good food in pleasant surroundings, very pleasant and attentive staff. However, I find some of their practices slightly weird, like moving your rice from one plate held by the wait staff to another in front of you - just give me my rice. Ladling out your curry on to your rice. Again, just give me my curry! I can ladle. In addition, we were a fairly large party and they brought the omelettes and non Indian food first. By the time the faffing with the Indian food was done, these dishes were cold. ( We did tell the recipients to go ahead and start.) I get they want to add to the experience with their practices, but I’ve never seen this in any other Indian restaurant, and it didn’t add. Nice place though. I’d go again.

Went here with some one in support the other day. Service was fantastic, menu is probably the biggest menu I’ve seen at an Indian. The food was amazing, best curry I’ve had in a long while. Prices were in line with other Indians but the quality so much better. Lots of meat in my curry also.

Best south Asian cuisine in the county for my money. It isn’t the cheapest but it is the best and like almost everything else in life you do get what you pay for. The menu is a mix of traditional ‘Indian restaurant’ items and innovative interpretations. Fish and seafood lovers will adore the monkfish… staff are attentive yet discreet and vert friendly, ambiance and atmosphere excellent.

Saturday evening, looking forward to a curry having not had one in a while. We’ve been eating in/out here for many years now, so is our go-to place. Food ordered and we headed to pick up.There’s a sign on the entrance saying ‘no mask, no entry’ yet we sat and watched a guy come in with no mask and get served. Then others, waiting for takeaway did t wear masks either. Around 15 minutes before we were given our food we were told it’d be ‘5 minutes’. We got home and in a meal for just 2 (so hardly sizeable) there was one item missing and one incorrect. Dietary requirements meant the replaced item was pointless. I called about the missing team and was repeatedly told ‘next time’, as in they’d put it right next time. When I questioned what if there wasn’t a next time the phone was put down. I called again a d the same happened. Then, when we realised a other item was incorrect, I called and the manager wasn’t any more helpful and ended by asking what was the point of my calling. So the options we had were to head back for the missing item, wait until next time (like we’d want to) or... nothing! No refund offered. Then, to cap it all off, the food we’d been given was barely warm. What a waste of money!We had the chance to eat out this evening but chose to grab a takeout from a local independent place instead, especially with the announcement of another lockdown. I wish we hadn’t bothered, we won’t again.

It’s fantastic to see that this restaurant never alternates from one visit or take away to the next.. as good as ever, if not better!! Covid-19 safe, all rules met. Fabulous food and service and thoroughly enjoyed by all five of us, makes a lovely change to eat out againKeep up the good works guys

This is our first visit since the lockdown, and the first time we’ve used the takeaway service (which we collected). It’s the best decision, as the food was excellent, and it was just like eating in the restaurant. We will be back again soon, takeaway or eatin, when we are allowed. Keep up the excellent service. Shropshire’s best Curry House (food and service). Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Having visited here on numerous occasions and always being pleased with the quality of food, we decided to order a takeaway - how disappointing!My chicken passanda had absolutely no taste, not even a little bit and was very watery and thin and the chicken was tough. Now I know chicken passanda is mild anyway but that’s no excuse for having no flavour. My partner had a different dish, but again no flavour.Rice was fine but you can’t really go wrong with pilau rice. Naan bread was supposed to be garlic and cheese with barely any filling of either! To top it all off, we live an 8 minute car journey from the here and by the time we got home, it was barely even warm so had to be reheated. Such a shame because when we eat in (haven’t been for a good 12 months) we have always enjoyed it!

Would recommend! My friend and I love coming here. I have fond memories of the food and service. I remember before my Mum passed from MSA, the staff were so kind helping her with her wheelchair access. Since then, I have been twice with my friend and I love the food and the service is remarkable. 5 stars. This is a handbook on customer service and would happily return soon I hope.

After using this establishment for over 5yrs using both their restaurant and food delivery service and having spent a small fortune celebrating family events here, I'm sad to say things have deteriorated significantly of late. The service is very poor, food is of poor quality and orders not being delivered. I shall be taking my custom elsewhere and would advise others to do the same.

Has this restaurant been taken over? We have eaten many times over the last couple of years or so and have spent hundreds of times. Our only complaint about this is that the drinks are very slow coming to the table. HOWEVER, we ordered a takeaway on Christmas Eve. When ordering, the person taking the order was very abrupt and rude when my daughter asked for a special meal. On arrival, there was hardly any chicken in the chicken masala and the plain naan was inedible; being burnt and hard. My husband sent them an email - no apology but was told there are plenty more Indian restaurants to try!!! We certainly will NOT be going there again either to eat in or for a takeaway. Our £100+ money for meals will, hopefully, be appreciated elsewhere.

We have eaten here before so we thought we’d give a takeaway a try. I enjoyed a pint while I waited and was not disappointed when the food arrived. We’ve had some mediocre takeaways from a local rival recently and are glad we moved on. All the dishes were rich and full of flavour. I chose the lamb pathia which was excellent the lamb was really tender. We asked for the naan bread to be well done which it was, it makes such a difference, I recommend you try it. This will be our new regular curry house but to be fair it’s more than that.

A most excellent ambiance, good food cooked to perfection and very friendly staff. I would put The Shifnal Cottage among the top three Indian Restaurants in Shropshire.I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, but book early to avoid disappointment. We travel a total of 40 miles (return journey) to dine in this establishment.

Travelled from Shrewsbury to meet friends here for an early evening meal. The welcome from Abdul and his staff was lovely. The menu is extensive with so many dishes i have never seen before. The service is excellent and the food was just amazingly good.

Very disappointed in the service today We were forgotten about and waited aprox a hour for food The owner was rude and angry because we had only ordered drinks and main meals,food came out cold when we told him he was not happy to replace didn't even offer to cook fresh food he told the waiter to take our money for the popadums drinks and the pickle which we didn't even order and said get there money and let them go ! Never apologised just took the money and never spoke to us Never want to come back to this place ever again only welcoming if you spend lots of money ...my £50 order is just as good as anyone elses money, this is the 1st time my partner and I have had to complain at a restaurant Absolutely appalled with the behaviour and would definitely not recommend

Have had many a curry around the area and this is one of the best for service and food, the chicken Khyberi Kari Vindaloo is a must.

We've had many curries from Shifnal Cottage and it just gets better and better. Staff are friendly and nice ambience. I had a Prawn Madras and wife had chicken dhansak. Really tasty and spicy.

My Family I have bring have been eating in your restaurant for years and many take always and always had an excellent meal not one bad experience.

I have visited this restaurant many times after moving to the area last year.

First visit for a few years but still as good as I remember. Service was efficient and the menu extensive. The popadoms and pickles were good while we made our menu choices. The starters were tasty and offered a few more unusual items. My main was tweaked on the recommendation of the waiter to good effect I thoroughly enjoyed it and the mushroom pilau rice accompaniment was excellent. I won’t leave it so long next time.

My Wife and I have eaten here on three occasions since moving into the area in the last six months,never had a complaint always excellent food and service. As a point of interest we decided to have a take away and we were amazed at the efficiency and speed of the delivery,the guy who delivered was very well presented and extremely polite. The food was delicious and up to Restaurant standards,by far the best take away we've had since moving into the area.

We booked a table for 16 people for a family celebration last Saturday. Our guests chose a varied selection of meals from the extensive menu. Drinks and poppadoms arrived quickly, and the friendly staff delivered the various courses at the same time for all. The food was excellent as usual, Abdul kept a close eye on things, and we had an excellent evening.

My girlfriend and I visited Shifnal Cottage last night. Firstly there was a very strange smell in the restaurant. Secondly, and more importantly, my girlfriend and I had 4 popadums, 2 beers, 2 main courses, a naan + a portion of chips. Whilst the food was ok (at best) when I got home I noticed I'd been overcharged by £20! Our meal came to £38.70 and upon checking my card receipt I observed that the waiter had put £58.70 in to the card machine! I was passed the machine at the point when only my code is required so didn't (wasn't able) to check the total! Feel quite angry about this and won't be going back!!

This is now our nearest Indian restaurant and we have been three times in the past four weeks. Service has been excellent, food very good and very courteous staff. Would recommend.

Seems abit hit and miss I find it now.. the one gentleman who may be the owner? Is jolly and welcoming but we had a different taller guy who couldn’t have been more miserable.

Visited The Shifnal Cottage for 18th birthday celebration. Was great food, all freshly cooked and well presented with lovely flavours. Nobody was unhappy with meals and excellent service, would definitely recommend. Nothing was too much trouble.

With a roaring fire and plush furnishing, this place would have been very romantic if it weren’t for the table of 6 behind us speaking as loud as they could but that wasn’t the fault of the management. The food was clearly handcrafted and very different to the usual Indian restaurants we attend but the price reflected this. Lovely for a special occasion.

Booked a table for four. Seated then waited and waited. Obe hour twenty minutes to place our order which I had to ask three times to place. Food had lovely flavours but was unfortunately cold. What a shame staff were unhelpful and stroppy.

Booked a table for 5 of us. First visit here by recommendation and was very impressed. Excellent menu and good service. Not the cheapest place but excellent quality food. Well worth a visit.

The meal last night was superb, but this is always the case! The same chef has cooked there for years and the chicken/lamb tikka Parthia is the best ever. Last night the Restaurant was full but the service was superb! The owner is extremely friendly and always has time for a chat! Well worth a visit. *****

We didn’t book here (Saturday evening) but it did get busy. The meals we had were hot and tasty and brought in good time. The service was friendly. The price was good.

What a shame that this far better than average Indian restaurant suffers reviews written by idiots that Abdul, the owner, is too nice to counter; it deserves to be much better rated than it is. We had another good experience there the other night, my wife had a superb prawn curry and I had the tandoori monkfish tail, accompanied by a delicious mixed raita. Prices are reasonable, and service is always attentive, whilst Abdul watches over proceedings with a keen eye and much charm.

We attended last night for family birthday with 12 people including children. The service was outstanding and the food was even better! Great ambiance, good drinks selection and very happy staff. The best Indian around for miles. Thank you Shifnal cottage.

Due to harsh floods and highly dangerous condutions we asked to park up for about 20 minutes in a motorhome to check everything had survived the harsh floods. However, we were treated with disrespect and rudely turned away. Staff member didnt care about the dangerous...

Once again this restaurant has excelled itself. A scampi and chips ‘Takeaway’ was the very best you could expect. The staff are exemplary, the order was ready within 20 minutes and not lacking in quality or indeed quantity. Whereas we normally enjoy eating at the restaurant, on this occasion it was convenient to be at home. Well done Abdul and staff.

So i have eaten many indians, but this night.. this place. Never again ! They wanted £12.95 for a tandori mixed grill platter.. it consisted of a all pile of red dry meat that was half the size of the salad given with this. That was neglected and not payed for. The lamb korma was just as bad with it being flooded of a watery sauce, chunks of lamb that were no bigger than a 2pence coin. The only edible thing was the rice and chips. We were then delt with a very arragont owner who did not ask how it was, how we was or even had the decency to say bye !! Never met such a rude man. I am never going back here, like i say i have eaten in many indians but this was an absolute waste of money. Still angry the morning after. Please go else where if you actually like to pay for decent food. Stephen

We had a great time last night, first visit but will not be our last. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and taste was sublime, even my Granddaughter’s English food.

We visited for the first time a month ago and it was excellent. Tonight was very disappointing. We waited nearly an hour and a half for our food . Two of the meals were warm at best. The waiter said they were short staffed. The first visit was so good and tonight was completely different.

Once again Shifnal Cottage has provided the family with a range of meals which were very nice indeed.

Location misleading to people booking and expecting to be close to Shifnal, closer to Redhill. It’s on a main road, not in a village even. Get this part right before reviewing anything.

We eat at Shifnal cottage a lot and until now have received weekly deliveries. The food is always excellent and the service is the same. However on this occasion we ordered food, an hour later I get a call to say the driver had come back because the road was flooded! The driver didn’t call me and ask for directions, he didn’t bother to use the other 4 roads to be house and they simply offered for me to collect or refund.

Two recent meals have been excellent, the menu is more innovative than in most Indian restaurants, while the results are impressively tasty, with great vegetarian and fish options, I had the tandoori monkfish tail both times, whilst my wife was more adventurous.

Unfortunately we’ve not been able to visit the restaurant over the festive season but have had several take away deliveries which have been consistently fabulous with fantastic service too. Always delivered within time span and order complete without error - for us it has to be the best local Indian restaurant

We have visited this restaurant many times since our first in 2013 and it has maintained its high standard each time. This visit was with a group of friends and the restaurant was moderately full when we arrived at 7.30pm. Our table had lots of room around it and we were able to chat without being conscious of the other diners. There was lots of choice on the menu and the service excellent. We were all pleased with the dishes we ordered. The machli grill was especially delicious but the chicken tikka and chicken sashlick were a little on the dry side. However, still a very nice meal.

We ordered from this curry house on friday night, and I can honestly say its on of the best Indian takeaways I've ever eaten! Amazing, tender chicken and so tasty!

Went on a recent Wed evening, only been once before a long time ago, interested to see how it was now. Lovely inside friendly staff and busy for a Wednesday, good sign! We never felt rushed, the bottle of red wine we ordered was at right temperature and we had some fun with the staff! On menu they do a combination of two curries which I think is a great idea! And plenty for me as a vegetarian! The food was beautiful! And we had a lovely evening and photos taken by a staff member, will definitely be back!

Went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. A bit of a wait for the food but it was excellent and the manager was very apologetic. I had the salmon kyberi and a naan - will be going again.

haven't been for a while as we don't live too local but as always staff were attentive and the food was good and reasonably priced.

First impressions were good, the restaurant is clean and well decorated, unfortunately that is the only good point about this place.The starters and poppadoms were ok but we have had far better at a much cheaper price.The cobra was flat.The chicken tikka masala was absolutely terrible, no flavour at all, no spices just completely tasteless sauce with a few lumps of chicken.Our two young children both of whom love all sorts of curry even very hot spicy ones refused to eat any of it!The pilau and fried rice tasted exactly the same and the peshwari naan had no coconut flavour.Dreadful experience, you can get better flavoured sauces out of a jar in a supermarket.Also ridiculously overpriced.AVOID!

Visited with family for a birthday meal but was very disappointed. Food was average but orders were mixed up and the bill was wrong at the end extra drinks had been added so we were over charged! Seemed expensive for what it was too.

Having recently moved into the area we tried it for the first time. The greeting was warm, the ambience good, the service also and, most importantly, the food was of a high standard. Draft Cobra and an extensive Wine List complete things. Will definitely be going back.

This Indian Restaurant has the most fantastic food. I had never had such a lovely meal with a rice that contained fruit and nuts. I can't praise I enough. The staff were very friendly and the cleanliness outstanding.

Chicken tikka starter is my favourite starter. This dish varies in quality and serves a a great indicator of the meal to come. Chicken was succulent, carefully spiced and not overloaded with salt.This was a pleasing start. The main course failed to match this though. It was an acceptable standard restaurant curry. It was tasty and satisfying, but this type of food is available in most Indian restaurants.I would visit again if I’m back in the area. The meal was good value, service was friendly and led to a relaxed atmosphere.

First visit and not disappointed. Had heard good reports from friends/work colleagues who had previously been. We ate earlier so restaurant was very quiet, staff very helpful/attentive. We both chose combination dishes which were recommended by the waiter and both mine and hubbys meals were fantastic. I can honestly say my vegetarian combination was the best/tastiest curry I have ever had. Lovely fresh veg, not the usual frozen, squishy veg you can get served sometime! Hubbys meal just as delicious! Definitely one to be recommended onwards and we are looking forward to our next visit!

Very impressive dining room that has been refitted quite recently. The service is impeccable and the food delicious. The staff are very attentive and the whole dining experience is very relaxing and satisfying. The best value and tastes can be sampled here!!

Booked a table for two on a Saturday evening at 7pm and arrived slightly early but received fantastic service. All members of the team were extremely polite and catered to our every need. Wine was wonderful at a decent price and our food was extremely good quality for the modest price. We couldn't quite finish our bottle of wine and asked for a cork for the bottle which was no problem at all. From beginning to end, though it's already been said, extremely good service. Left after a wonderful, flawless meal. Left a small tip and wish I could have left more! Will definitely be back. The combination dishes in particular were fantastic.

This is my first time here, I popped in for a takeaway and dashed away.On arrival there is plenty of parking spots and the building itself is nicely refurbished. Once inside the decor is lovely and you are greeted by an abundance of staff. My takeaway came to £14 (ish). Main, rice, naan & chips.Only they forgot my chips, which isn't a good start. But I gave the curry a chance and I was happy with it, just above average I would say. The rice was completely standard however and so was the naan, nothing special. Overall the food was average in general. This Indian uses those little white see-thru containers for their packaging which I have always felt was not quite right as it gives you less portion size. They could improve by switching over to these tinfoil containers that you now see in some places which keep your food a lot warmer. Overall, a good local Indian for people to use, not really worth a length journey to try if you are from a far.

This place gives you the opportunity to try something new at the same time as having what you always have! They offer combination dishes which are effectively half and half. Ask for Taz. Tell him what you usually have and he will assist you in choosing a new dish to complement it and introduce you to something new.I use this service regularly now and am happily working my way through the menu.Its brilliant.

We visited Shifnal Cottage as a group of six family and friends last night. I cannot fault the service, the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when we asked their advice on dishes etc. The food was hot, delicious and I liked the attention to detail when it came to the food service. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends

This is a destination Indian restaurant. It's a converted public house with plenty of parking out front, which is essential because you'll need to drive to get here. The welcome is keen and attentive but the decor is bland and unremarkable. The food, however, is very pleasing and comes in good portion sizes.

6 of us went for a family meal on Friday night, the food was delicious just a shame it took over an hour to be served the food and had to ask twice for poppadoms as well as a jug of water. This is very unusual for this to happen so will be going back again as the service is normally excellent

First time here and was pleasantly surprised. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They catered to my vegan diet and was very helpful when establishing what they could make vegan for me. I'm not normally the biggest fan of Indian food but all of it was lovely and I will definitely be returning.

Second time here first was great tonight chicken was rubber tasted like it was last nights chicken won't bother again and not cheap

Decided to go for and early evening curry just before Christmas. Obviously on the people of the same idea and the restaurant was filling up very quickly soon after we arrivedThe food was very good and service very attentive. I particularly like that they serve draft Cobra lager. The only criticism we have with the service was a little slow and defeated the object of our exercise, however we will be going back another occasion.

This restaurant serves one of the best Indian cuisines around. It's fresh, plentiful and super tasty. The staff are very professional and attentive. Visited a couple of times now and was delighted with the choice of meals. Would definitely recommend.

I have eaten here for many years including holding my 18th and 21st birthday parties here! The food is always excellent and the service is always fast and polite. It is great for any occasion from a first date to an anniversary to a family outing. I could not recommend a better Indian than Shifnal cottage!

Fantastic special Indian restaurant, the staff are friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere modern and stylish. Food delicious and recommendations from staff worth trying. Not your normal Indian menu more of an upmarket Indian but delicious. Takeaway and home delivery also top nosh. Have also been to this restaurant twice on Christmas Day. You can have traditional turkey dinner but would recommend the Indian options of chicken or lamb and reasonably priced but book early. It is very popular.

I visited the restaurant on Wednesday with my partner & in-laws. We live in Kent & were visiting family in Telford - will definitely go back when we are in town again.

Shifnal Cottage on the A5 (Crackley Bank) is simply a wonderful place to taste authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant is immaculate with a terrific atmosphere. The service is first class and the food is top notch - cooked to perfection and in huge portions. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. 5 adults had the obligatory poppadoms, starters, main dishes and soft drinks for less than £20 per person.Highly recommended.

Then had to keep getting a waiter to get drinks, ending with us a one stage going out of the restaurant and into the bar ourselves. Then the mains eventually arrived after 2 hours. Then they missed out one guests food and blamed it on the Sea Bass. Did nock 10% off the bill for the problems. Overall nice surroundings, nice food but poor service.
