Food was just disgusting full of grease nans was like crackers the lamb dish look like sick and no taste chicken frozen the place was empty and blamed it on covid would not feed my worst enemy it walked out didn’t even give us a bill wasn’t paying anyway £4 for mince yogurt 🤮🤮

Worse meal ever. No one in there at around 7pm on a Saturday. Was a bit worrying, then we realised why! The waiter was coughing loads. I heard him coughing while he was getting our drinks but had our backs towards him so we don’t know if he covered his mouth. I’m now very ill! Sore throat, cough & bad headache. He’s the only one I interacted with that was ill in the past two weeks. He shouldn’t of been working.

One of the nicest curry’s we have had in a long time, asked for authentic style and were not disappointed, the chef was excellent and service was fantastic.

Always a great takeaway. Everybody at Aftab is friendly and helpful. The tarka daal is my absolute favourite.

Just had a lovely meal in a sadly empty restaurant. The young man who served us was lovely and we had a great chat putting the world to rights. Food was great and reasonably priced. Thank you Aftab,we will see you on our next visit. Kelly and Paul

Firstly booked over the phone , on arrival told we did not have a booking, although the restaurant only had 7 diners , he made us wait then said ok, After sitting down we ordered it was 8.15 by now, a couple came in and said sorry we are early we booked for 8,30 is it ok, which the waiter replied oh I don’t think so we close at 9pm, after some arguing he let them stay, then another couple came in at 8,30 and was told no we shut at 9 pm your too late, We looked on the website and it stated they close at 9,30, What Indian restaurant closes at 9.30, When our food arrived it was wrong I ordered Tandoori chicken tikka but got Tandoori chicken on the bone, Which was dry and lacked flavour, All the rest of the meal arrived but was told rice, would be about 5 minutes more, Saag aloo was hunt the potatoe in a sea of spinach (must of had a special on spinach at the wholesaler) Nan looked and tasted like shop bought, round and flat Told it was bring your own , which we did , but they did not even have lemonade, Waiter unsure if he was on something but seemed very lax , yawning and coughing a lot. When we went to pay ,we were over charged , he said sorry everyone orders 4 popadums and I’m so tired not sure what I’m doing , it was 8.55 pm LATE !!! Lovely place, certainly better than some of these reviews. Friendly waiter made the experience even better. Good Food and BYO, recommended.

Dreadful! What's happened to this restaurant? Food overpriced. Tandoori king prawns weren't even cooked in a tandoor oven, horrible and rubbery. Oh and no menus if you visit and toilets not clean like they used to be. Has it changed hands? Such a shame.

Really enjoyed our meal here, great range of dishes, tasty food, fresh and zingy, good use of herbs and spices. Excellent friendly service. Brought our own beers, and had a lovely evening. Best wishes from Leicester 👍😁

Update Nov 2023. Think they have a new Chef!! 100% certain. From my review a few years ago, the Tandoori King Prawns are not a patch on how they were! No lovely Tandoor juices, no shell on tail, not charred enough. Shall I go on ...! Very disappointed considering they are £14 for a portion and I travelled 1/2 hour to get the replica of how they used to be! Lamb Balti was okay, no spice though at all. I asked for mild bit literally no spice at all ! Definitely strange. Not sure if new owners but we won't return. I'd just love to know where the chef has gone to from years ago because he sure knew how to cook!!!! Oh and no menus! You view menu on line, how crazy is that!

Never had such bland tasting tandoori king prawns in my life! No flavour, no juices (you always get a bit in the tray) and no shell on the tail! I even dispute they were cooked in a Tandoor oven! No menus either which is ridiculous! What if people didn't have a mobile on them! Used to be such a high quality place, food spot on but it's definitely gone downhill. Won't return.

Having read the reviews we were in two minds whether to bother with Aftab, I’m so pleased we did. We had chicken tikka as a starter, chicken sagwalla and chicken dupiaza for our meals and chose them as a takeaway. They were truly delicious. The flavours were so delicate yet distinct. I’ve had a few curries in my time and I can honestly say this was one of the best

Ok, firstly the waiter was 'bang on'. The food was the worst Indian meal I have ever eaten in my life. I had the Dhansak it was vile, a bland uncooked mushy mess. My partner had a Madras that was just as bad. It made us feel very bad and gave us terrible stomach cramps that spoiled the rest of our weekend stay in Ironbridge, due to constantly needing to be by a toilet. Please avoid this place at all costs.

OK the waiter was bang on, the food was disgusting. I love Indian cuisine, my nan was Indian and she would be turning in her grave at the food served here. So bland, my dansak tasted like watery carrots, l couldn't even take the meat out and eat that. Absolutely vile.

Went with friends for an impromptu meal whilst away on a Friday . After a quiet start the restaurant soon livened up and the atmosphere was welcoming and staff chatty and attentive. The food order came in good time and was all fine , good portion size and delcious . Price was failrly standard and what we would usually expect to pay . Alcohol is not served but you can fetch an alcoholic drink from the bar next door or take your own . The restaurant it self is a bit tired but it was clean and comfy and perfectly adequate . I would visit again if came back to Ironbridge thankyou for a nice meal Aftab xxxx

The food was reasonable, but the waiter was constantly telling us all the ways they are cutting costs, including watering down dips & not providing menus. Consequently was not a great atmosphere to have a meal in.

Excellent food and service. This place has a great choice of dishes and the food is expertly cooked. This was certainly one of the best Indian meals we have had. The restaurant does not serve alcohol but is happy to let customers purchase drinks from the micro pub next door- and bring them in to accompany the meal this is an arrangement that we highly recommend.

Eight of us arrived without a booking on a wet Thursday evening. Ahmed welcomed us warmly and promptly served up soft drinks, poppadoms, starters and main courses from across the menu. Two of our friends live in Leicester and were used to their food being more spicy but others were very happy with both the quantity and quality of the food served. Use of a web based menu and a soft drinks only policy were not a problem. Keep up the great work Aftab & Ahmed!

Our family group arrived in Ironbridge on Friday evening. We had not booked a restaurant but when we called AFTAB the response was so open and friendly that we had no hesitation in booking a table for nine people. We were greeted by Ahmed who could not do too much for us. Despite running front of house on his own he was not flustered and he worked in a very efficient manner. We started with popodoms and pickles before moving on to a variety of main courses. All came hot and at the same time, no mean feat! The food was excellent as witnessed by the clean plates. Price was incredibly reasonable, less than £15/head and Ahmed smiled throughout. Please give this place a try when you visit Ironbridge.

I live in Ironbridge and think this place should be ashamed. Uninviting, cold and generally in poor state it’s barely a restaurant. You can’t even get a menu you look online. Food was poor too. It may have been here for years but now Pondicherry is closed you’d think they’d make the effort to capture everyone that would have gone there but clearly not.

Absolutely do not buy food from here. It is just so bland it is untrue. These two guys were more interested that I was from a foreign country even tho I live 5 miles away. Never ever again. Seriously this food has no taste.. I really wish I had read the reviews. Do not go.

It was the service that stood out at this place. The waiter taking the food orders was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about any of the food we asked about. Food came out quick and they were good sized portions. The food itself was ok, nothing special but I’d happily eat here again.

Honestly the worst Indisn meal I've had...ever. In over 35 years. Freezing restaurant, no menus (you had to get your phone out and look online which should have rung warning bells). Totally overcooked tough, chewy prawns for starter. Both starters incredibly over spiced to the point you could only taste chilli. Chicken dhansak was totally bland, no spices, no flavour, just chunks of chicken in mashed up lentils. Special fried rice was just pilau rice with a bit of egg. No coriander or almonds or peas. The peshwari naan was passable. Avoid.

Phoned to bookin on a Sunday night. We were the only people there. There was no alcohol served on site. Not an issue as I had a J2O and my husband had Coke. I ordered a king prawn balti. The meal for me was bland,...

Food and service was very good....waiter told us about struggles during covid and customers complaining about prices. We had a great meal, not too expensive however we got charged £8 for a small diet coke and a J20....outrageous.

Went a few weeks ago, its bring your own drinks now which is fair enough but.... no ice for shorts so that spoiled that! especially with the warm weather , food was not anything special, little choice for veggies , my wife is Asian so...

Went here at 18.10pm hoping to get a curry and spend a few quid, place in darkness, according to hours, should be open, poor poor show. If there are changes, no issue, but at least put a notice on the door.

Often get a takeaway from Aftab at the weekends and the food is always very good. They’ve been open through much of lockdown for takeaways on Fri/Sat which is very much appreciated! Mateer Paneer is always excellent, Vegetable Pathia is lovely and the pickle tray...

On a cold and foggy Monday evening, the Aftab warmed us up but so sad virtually empty. The Aftab is not a special Indian Restaurant but serves the usual range of dishes at a good level. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and never found it wanting.

Great food very attentive staff, nice surroundings.

We usually go to Maharaja’s in Madeley but thought we’d try somewhere new, awful mistake. My other half drove down to pick up our food, got back and a naan was missing... we rang up and the man on the phone just told us to come back down and fetch a new one, you have a delivery service, it’s your fault, offer to bring it to us. Anyway, he got there to pick it up and the mans excuse was “it’s an easy mistake” well no it isn’t, unless the place is run by children, we only ordered 2 naans and 2 side dishes. You look at the order, you cook the food, then you put it in the bag. Even after my partners travel back down Ironbridge for the second time they offered us absolutely nothing, not even a single poppadom, you caused an inconvenience and offered nothing as a repayment.

Came here for a belated birthday treat, although their prices mean that it really doesn't have to be a treat at all! I've been using Aftab for some years now and we always get a warm welcome and chat from Bobby. Nice guy, great food, great staff. Its far and above the other Indian restaurant in Ironbridge in my opinion, I certainly wouldn't go elsewhere for my food!

Recommend this place as the best for Indian food we have had recently in the area. Very good king prawn and vegetable dishes. Naan was not think and doughy like other places. Service good. Not as pricey as some other places. Having lived in the Far East for many years I would say the taste is very authentic.

Food OK - very edible. Price OK - reasonable Ambiance - meh, OK It is OK. Not horrible, not memorable. If you aren't used to going out for supper and you are on holiday then it is fine.

Visited for an evening meal, had excellent tandoori lamb and the Mrs had a lamb koma. With all the usuals popadoms, naan, pea rice and lager. It was a good meal and for 2 of us was £30 - bargain

We came to Telford for the bed show and decided to come to this Indians as our usual Indians pondicherry was closed and honestly the best decision! The mixed kebab was beautiful and all meat was so juicy and tender we then got the garlic chicken balti and chicken buhuna with keema nan and cheese and all was so beautiful and the flavours were perfect! Even ate it all as it was too good to waste (which is surprising for me) might come back tomorrow for our journey home;)

All the dishes were large and delicious. The only surprise was the relatively low bill at the end. The down side is that there is no view over the river. So we had to walk around to see this piece of heavenly landscape afterwards.

Don't know what has happened since our last visit! This was our regular Indian restaurant, a few years ago! However it's gone downhill in my opinion. The surroundings and atmosphere were not as welcoming as we expected, the place just seemed jaded and tired! The welcome was friendly enough, as always, but the service was not as expected.. very hit and miss! The meals were ok, but nothing special,..I think we will be going elsewhere in future, which is sad, as we used to love dinning here. Very disappointed.
