Great food.. 👌 The railway curry and lamb biriyani were really delicious... Also comes with great quality + quantity.. The prices are pretty much reasonable... I would highly recommend...

Best Indian restaurant around for miles. Our ‘go to’. Staff are great, portions are huge and food is delicious every time. Can’t say enough good things about it.

First visit in a long time. Great food and plenty of it in my opinion. My Lamb Passanda had a rich and creamy sauce that complemented the tender lamb perfectly. The flavors were well-balanced, creating a satisfying and delicious dish. Staff were friendly and we were not rushed. Popadoms, starters, mains, couple of side dishes each and drinks came to £60.

Over the past few months, the quality of food from here has declined. There is much more watery liquid in the sauces, the chicken pieces are smaller and fewer, and now the rice portion has been reduced. I would rather see prices increase rather than shrinkflation and getting poor quality food. Bad show Maharanis, been visiting and getting takeaways for 20 years, will move on now. Angel spice in Stilton much better option now

This used to be my local go-to curry house. Always outstanding on every level. Returned after a few years as we moved away, but just as outstanding as I remember it. I could list everything in detail but it will only come to the same conclusion - go here and try everything! Ha ha

Visited here on 18th of july with my family here. I cant recommend this restaurant enough. Impeccable service, an inviting ambiance, and an array of mouthwatering dishes - this Restaurant truly exceeded my expectations and left me craving for more! My visit to this extraordinary establishment was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Will visit again soon.

We had our first takeaway from Maharanis last night. The food was excellent - very tasty and hot. We were told it would take an hour to be delivered but was actually delivered well within that time. We will definitely be using them again.

Often have takeaways delivered from Maharanis and also visit the restaurant for sit down meal. The food is of a high quality, tasty and authentic with a good selection of starters and mains. Good portion sizes too.

This was our first visit to Maharanis for over a year There were three of us and for starters we had onion bhaji, Maharani mix and chicken tikka For mains its was Chicken Sri Lanka, Chicken Janhangiri Kadai and Coastal Fish Curry In addition we had poppadoms, rice and naan The Maharani mix was good but both the chicken tikka and the onion bhaji were really very dry The two chicken dishes for mains were fine however the coastal fish curry was pretty poor. The fish itself was stringy and consisted mostly of skin I mentioned this to the waiter and he did reduce our bill by £5 . I appreciated, and accepted, this gesture but in all honesty it really wasn't worth anything at all The service was attentive although it look quite a long time to get our bill

This restaurant has an very welcoming and friendly aura to it, with excellent customer service and food to die for I’d recommend no better place to eat. The food was made with class and within a timely manner and served with a smile.

Coming to this restaurant was a mistake from the moment we were seated, we were one of three tables in the restaurant and we had to wait to order ( at least 15 mins before we even ordered drinks). We waited 45 minutes just for the popadoms to arrive then another 30 mins for the starter. The services was dreadfully slow, no apology so I assume this is normal. Won’t be coming back here for a curry again.

So it's new years eve, finished work and ready to spend an night at home with the wife and dog, takeaway and drinks....what could be better.....how wrong was I......the wife pre-ordered the food at 1300 for a 1800 pick up, thats the only bit that went smooth. Went for the butter chicken, bare in mind we live 10 minutes from the restaurant, the butter chicken was stone cold by the time we got home, the container had the equivalent of 1/4 breast of chicken in, which resulted in 4 tiny piece of chicken between the 2 of us....really disappointing, then the sagaloo, the potatoes weren't cooked. Great!!!! Lamb Birihani was nice but again cold and had 2 pieces of lamb (you'd think there was a meat shortage) even the poppedoms were stale, no crisp to them......oh and a stone cold nahn bread. Over all really disappointed in the food. I have called the restaurant and complained, and waiting for the manager to call back. We will see if he does.

This is one of our local restaurants and the service and food is always great. Taste is authentic and curries are always what you order - I.e hot is hot.

I was a little worried, based on some of the reviews, but it was excellent and we'll be back for sure! Food arrived quicker than expected, was pipping hot and absolutely delicious. I haven't eaten here for some time and deliberated whether or not to eat at the Gurka lounge as an alternative. Maharanis is closer and therefore I chose this option. On entering the restaurant it is very tired and is in need of some attention. The waiter that supported us seemed more interested in everything else in the restaurant than serving us. The food did come out in a timely manner and was as you would expect. The price for the meal for what was provided was on the high side. Overall, we had a nice evening but that was more to do with the company than the experience. I think if you want Indian food in Hampton you should consider the Gurka lounge unless Maharanis are prepared to invest some money into their tired and ageing restaurant.

Website and menu says close at 10:30, called at 10:15 when my partner finished work at 10, they said they stop taking orders at 10, when questioned they advertise 10;30 they said that’s when they all finish working. A week later called at 9:49 3 times to give them plenty of time and no one answered! On a Saturday. Done with them, can’t get w simple take away from them, go elsewhere where they pick up their phone.

Outstanding service, absolutely in shock by some stunning and flavoursome dishes. The staffs are incredibly generous and supportive. Went there with my family for a dinner and within at least 5 seconds, menus were already presented on the table. Orders were taken quickly and food arrived early as well. I have no words to describe the taste of the food. It was just.. just something so unique. It was cooked at the optimum and correct temperature. The taste of chicken pasanda was very delectable. Must try their chicken pasanda; it was heavenly.

I went to Maharani’s Peterborough on Saturday night for a family and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the evening. The food and service along with the ambience of the place was simply wonderful. When we first walked in, it was a simple yet elegant place and we were served by the friendliest of faces. The drinks and food we ordered came promptly so we weren’t forced to wait too long and the lamb railway curry in particular was exquisite. The menu overall was rich in variety and left no room for complaints as it served a large range. I would recommend this place to anyone whether it be for an intimate family dinner or just a group of friends looking for a place with good food and I will definitely be returning in the near future.

This has to be one of my favourite restaurant ever. Food is brilliantly cooked and the texture is amazing. I have tried many different restaurants, but this has to be one of my favourite. I mean the way the food are presented are always spot on. I highly recommend their onion bhajis, since they are super delicious and mouth watering. Not only the food, but the staffs are very friendly and always welcoming guests with respect and kindness.

I have been here on a few occasions with family & friends and the service/food has been spot on. Would highly recommend.

Went last night with a friend. Turned up without booking and able to get straight in. Food was really good, really hot and well presented.

We came here as the restaurant we were going to go to was shut. We are visitors to Peterborough and couldn’t find many Indian restaurants listed. My daughter ordered a chicken korma which consisted of three small bits of chicken in a soup. She’s 8 and says the sauce was nice! Mother in law ordered the Kashmiri chicken which was full of lychees, not what she expected, and the chicken had a funny taste to it. I had garlic chilli chicken which, while hot and spicy, was not flavourful at all and didn’t taste like the same dish I’ve had at other restaurants local to me, and no where near as good quality as the curry house in my home town.

New on the menu; Railway Curry; so much flavour and such tender meat. I could eat this everyday for a lifetime.

We regularly order from here, always turns up promptly and piping hot. Food is always delicious and plentiful.

Last week I had my birthday party here, the food was very good and service was very tentative, we normally have take away from here but the eat in experience was just as good, I recommend to all my friends

I absolutely love this place. I’ve never eaten a bad meal and the staff are helpful. I would recommend a visit from Thurs to Sunday as the service can be a little slower early week. They also deliver!

Nurgis kebab and the raspberry ripple sundae weren't too bad, however everything else was a miss. The biryani is anything but special, and the search for a half decent one goes on, they'd even thrown in a few sultanas in this one. All the red meats had a strong red dye.. this is 2018 not 1988. Not bad fare considering the locale... prices a bit high though.

We order from her for nightly, the food is usually exceptional. Tonight however the food came freezing cold, not even slightly cold I mean this food could have come straight out the freezer! Not only did we wait an hour an half for the delivery but this state in which it arrived was horrendous!

My wife and I ordered a delivery here twice in the last month. Four weeks ago we had the most amazing meal packed full of flavour and absolutely moreish.

Meal for two. Both had lovely meals yet again. Service also very good. My wife is gluten free and they came and talked about all the dishes.

From start to finish we had a lovely evening meal for my birthday, with a total of 6 people. Our guests had never eaten here before but thoroughly enjoyed it. We eat here from time and time and always have a great meal. The service is spot on and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Our guests commented on how busy it was for a Thursday evening, which shows how popular this place is. Food spot on and so reasonably priced. A great evening had by all! I confess that I have been coming here since the restaurant opened and have never been disappointed. The food is always of a high standard, but the atmosphere and service is exceptional. My family always feel very comfortable here and the transition into new ownership is seeing the high standards being maintained. Highly recommended!

Been to Maharanis with friends last week, must say the quality of food was very good with good portion size. Amazing customer service. We ordered Chicken chaat puri, Chicken Balti and Chicken madras, must say it was the best once in town , definitely recommend this place its worth a visit.

We have ordered from here before & always had good food, not tonight it was dry & no sauce in my meal or my husbands. We both had to get water to eat our meals as it was so dry. Also very stingy on the dip tray, hardly any sauces or onion for the amount of poppadoms ordered. We won’t be ordering from here again!

Ordered a takeaway with lamb Palak for my wife and lamb madras for me. The lamb palak was described as tender and delicious but was as tough as old boots. The lamb madras was hunt the meat in a sea of gravy. Won’t be repeating this mistake.

Have used this place since it opened and always been happy but had a bit of a gap and tried it again tonight. Portions reduced in size, prawns were actually shrimps, Nan quite tasteless all round disappointment so I called them to give the feedback - what appalling customer service!!! He asked how many pieces of chicken in the butter chicken - when I said I didn’t count he told me there were 7, then told me I should have ordered king prawn curry. I then explained that I usually have prawn curry but this time it was awful and salty. He then proceeded to talk over me, and when I said I was just trying to give him feedback he said ok thank you and put the phone down on me! I think I should have realised standards had slipped dramatically when I collected it and saw the filthy dusty lamps over the bar area! Won’t be visiting again and would recommend you don’t either - maharanis learn the value of customer feedback there are plenty more takeaways in Peterborough who do!

I recently bought a take-away meal from Maharanis having been told how amazing the food was. I went for a vegetable biryani. How disappointing! It was an eclectic mix of veg in rice with a bland, not a spice in sight, gravy. It was more like a boring British veggie stew with rice & gravy. Don't touch this place with a barge pole!

Fancied a curry and clutched at straws ordering from here , it was a takeaway we were ordering , collected it from the restaurant which was put together quite promptly. We have eaten here before which has been ok not the greatest but ok , this takeaway I can honestly say was not great at all and can struggle to even say it was good. Tasteless , dry chicken , definitely won't be ordering from here again.

We had a takeaway over the bank holiday weekend. The food was ready quickly and the portions were great. The chicken tikka biryani was lovely. However I had the chicken rizala, the chicken was great and the sauce was tasty but very mild, not medium as described. The biryani sauces were also mild, so if you want some heat maybe ask for it specifically.

Was stopping at the nearby East of England Showground for a few days. Ordered a takeaway meal for a party of 7; curries and side dishes. Ordered at 7pm requesting an 8pm delivery. Telephone manner and delivery service was impeccable. The food was hot and delicious. Highly recommend, will definitely be ordering from here again.

Chicken Balti was average and the Naan bread was very small and a bit soggy and did not have that 'just Cooked'taste...Chicken Tikka main course was fairly bland and served with an unappetizing poor quality salad.The Chicken Tikka promted the review.On a better note the service was fairly good.

First visit in the area and decided to visit this restaurant,when I arrived no one was there that should've told me what is like but i still thought to give them the benefit of my doubt ,I ordered a starter and a main meal the starter was chicken Tandoori but it came within 3 minutes which I was surprised as it should have taken much longer if it was prepared freshly , the chicken was stale and very bland.The main meal chicken was also stale but the sauce was nice and hide the poor quality chicken taste .please improve your chicken quality.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this lovely restaurant whilst staying in Peterborough. Very friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, the food was superb. Wonderful onion bhajee, pilau rice and veg vindaloo. Will definitely be back during my next visit to the area.

Fantastic food, I think for me the best in Peterborough Fresh food, meat well cooked, I always have the same wherever I go therefore can say for me they are the best in Peterborough Service is good really can not fault it at all. Also they are doing 'buy a meal for charity' so if you have a set meal they will donate the cost of the whole meal you pay to local hospital - how good is that, shows the sort of people cooking the food and serving, lovely thing to do. Anyway back to the food. Excellent, will return and would recommend 100%

This is a great quality, excellent service restaurant. Atmosphere is good and authentic. As it is very popular it can get very busy so would recommend booking especially at weekend. Beware the heat of sone dishes can very depending on the chef but overall a great Indian restaurant

We booked as a party of six and we were not disappointed. Firstly there was a great vibrant atmosphere which hit you as soon as you walked in. Considering the place was extremely busy the service was attentive and quick. When we ordered more drinks they arrived quickly. The food was lovely and there was a great choice. We all said we would definitely visit again

Is it the ambience, is it the service, is it the food, is it because it is so nice to see a restaurant pleasantly full or is it everything combined?The first time we went we took our son who has a healthy appetite. That really helped as he could put away everything that my husband and I could not manage. The second time I realise I should have asked for a doggy bag as there was so much food left over. It was all delicious and this is easily my favourite restaurant in Peterborough. I look forward to making my leisurely way through the whole menu. The food tastes authentic and freshly made.

I was really surprised when reading reviews on this place as they don't match our experience last night at all. Was looking forward to trying Maharani's as we'd heard good things about it but I can only say we were disappointed. From the start we found the waiting staff cold and unfriendly. They made no attempt at conversation, didn't even raise a smile. It felt like it was a big effort to serve us, the only exception being the younger one who was serving drinks, who was friendly and polite. The food was also a let down. Starters crammed onto small plates making it difficult to eat, the rice with the main was cold,the rest of the food was ok but nothing special, we've had far better at other local restaurants. We would have like a coffee at the end of the meal but the waiting staff seemed to have disappeared so we gave up and went to the bar to pay the bill in the end. Overall a big let down,can only think we went on a bad day having read all the other positive reviews. We won't be returning or recommending based on out experience.

I used Maharanis in Hampton for a Saturday evening take away. Having not eaten at either of there restaurants before, I was very impressed by the prompt delivery and the fact they delivered ice cold Cobra. Quality of food was to a very high standard.Food & Beer was very well priced tbh.

My friend and I often have a meal at Maharanis, the food is delicious and as a vegetarian I always find enough to choose from. I ate there this week with my daughter, also a vegetarian, and they were happy to make her up a vegetarian version of a meat dish that was on the menu, very accommodating and useful to know they will.

This restaurant in my experience offers consistently high standards in terms of quality and service. It is also very good value and has a relaxed ambiance.

I have been going here for my takeaways now for many years but the last year there is no consistency with the food. My last visit tonight will be the last as you just don't know what your getting and each time the food varies so much. The visit before last was fantastic but previous to that it just wasn't acceptable. Tonight again the food was tasteless and very watery. Guys, you need consistency every time.

After reviewing Maharanis last month I emailed to let them know it was really cold in the restaurant only to be told that they'd mistakenly left the airconditioning on the summer setting. So, if you're feeling a little cold in the restaurant don't hesitate to ask them to change the setting. It's the work of a few seconds and I'm sure they'll be more than happy that you mentioned it personally rather than in a review online.

It was a cold, dark night so we decided Banquet night (Tuesday & Thursday) at Maharanis was the order of the day. As soon as I arrived I knew that wearing lots of clothes for the outside temperature was a good call as it was pretty cold inside. I would usually mention the heating but this time I didn't which is perhaps unfair on the restaurant - if you don't like the temperature, do something about it while you're there is usually my mantra. Anyway, I didn't and then when we asked for the Banquet menu I noticed that it's now £11.95 rather than the £10.95 as per the website menu. The Banquet menu is a poppadum with chutneys, a mixed starter (delicious - particularly the vegetable samosa), a main of your choice and one rice, one Bombay aloo and one naan between two customers.We would have stayed longer to linger over dessert and coffees but we were too cold by that point (sadly the food cools down quickly in this sort of atmosphere too so it was a pretty quick meal) so we paid our bill and left.If you want a quick indian this is definitely the place to go. The service is quick and you won't have to wait (although you can ask for the courses to be kept back and they are more than happy to oblige). The food was fine. Not outstanding but sometimes all you want is a curry "fix" and this fits the bill well. Not huge portions - just enough.
