Roti Food Bar in Peterborough

Yesterday been there order seekh kebab and its was literally like Stick kebab not even bite able and then comes to its taste was like a simple bread blended not even tase like chicken Not recommended 🚨

I purchased Nihari from this restaurant, and the server sold me a soup mix with curry, attempting to deceive me. It didn't even taste like Nihari. It was a total waste of money, 9.5 pounds, and time. He kept insisting, "We do fresh," but all he did was fool me. Not recommended

Food was ok not upto the standards and one of the staff was abusive.

Had a Daal Lamb with plain rice, both amazing, the lamb melted in my mouth, the basmati fluffed to perfection. Will definately be returning. EDIT: Have returned, 4 times and on every occassion the service and food are top quality, this is THE spot for curry in Peterborough. SECOND EDIT: November '23, Still returning, the Pakoras are as good as the rest of the menu l have tried, which is most if it, lol

First time ordering tonight probably will be my last. I've not tasted anything quite like to be honest. Lamb chops are normally my favourite, different places do different things but I've never had just one bit and binned them, these where awful with an awful taste. Curry was OK-ish not the best but not worse. Service polite, quickish delivery but that's about all its got going for it.

Delicious authentic pakistani food. It had been a while but it was surprisingly amazing the real deal.

Worst food ever, don’t go bcs of their reviews, they got hair in chat, worst customer service, the lady waitress is good person but the owners were disrespectful and unprofessional.

They are a small shop that runs around the clock and some very specific food which is hearty to eat and tastes even better the next day. I really like the people who work here and come here to dine. I have only been here once and hope to go there some time again.

Disgusting meatballs / curry dish. The meatballs were so small and hard as rock. Probably the worst food I have ever ate and very pricey too. Service is good though. Would not order again due to the disgusting food.

Authentic Indian/Pakistani food desi style.

So far so good, good food that I enjoy, hoping the lamb won’t disappoint as I have only had vegetarian dishes so far. The website is in sore need of redevelopment, though and I have to really want the food to go through the headache.

They are friends if mine. They became friends when i worked there for a few weeks a few years ago.. When i got affection from Bhaijan Aashiq with his nature of teaching me how to peel onions and Potatoes whilst sitting down. And his sense of humour and treated me like a family member. Mashallah lovely man. Bhai Ashiq, the dad is a lovely cheerful man and is always welcoming. The boys, that are men are always very nice and friendly and smiley jokey and that actually cheers you up after a miserable day. Deliveries are always very fast and prompt. Bless.

It’s a nice little cosy place in Peterborough ,I worked almost 5 years in this city and this was the restaurant I visited 95% of my time eating out,very helpful staff, I used to call in advance and tell them when I would reach them so they can get my meal ready and of course my 2-3 dishes to take away as I used to commute every week to Peterborough and working long shift,could not always eat out. Some times I would order from accommodation too if I was too tired. I miss you guys. The best thing is it feels like home cooked meal and at a very reasonable price.

On a cold, sleety, winter's night, there's nothing quite like some spicy food in a cosy curry house to warm the soul and that is what the Oakham Curry Club (OCC) sought on Friday 1st February. Unfortunately, Roti was probably not the ideal place to go for this. Ostensibly, it's a takeaway with a few tables. A fairly spartan, albeit neat and tidy, interior, with a large screen TV dominating one wall, which was useful for those of the OCC that wanted to keep abreast of the shenanigans on Coronation Street. It was quite comforting to know that Kevin Webster still runs the garage and that the underwear factory at the end of the Street seems to be doing a good trade in these uncertain times. Perhaps Brexit hasn't yet reached Wetherfield? Anyway I digress... Our group of 10 were seated and pretty much left to our own devices. Staff were busy tending to takeaway orders and deliveries so there was no waiting staff hovering over us which was quite refreshing as there was no pressure or rush to proceedings, but this obviously lead to gaps in service and attention. Poppadoms were delivered with (almost) all the sauces, including a very mediocre and runny mango chutney, and orders for our starters were taken. There was a bit of a wait for the 10 starter dishes to be served - so much so in fact that an adjacent party were seated, had their starters and were served their mains in the meantime - but they were generally eaten with relish once they arrived. Maybe the smell of the food from the other table had served to increase everyone's hunger? My mixed grill was a mixed bag: a lovely sheesh full of onions and well spiced; a couple of healthy chunks of chicken tikka that were succulent but quite bland; and 2 unusual lamb chops that were overdone and tasted mostly of tamarind. Unusually, our main orders weren't taken until after our starters had been finished but this allowed some deep perusal of the menu and some friendly advice from the owner, including on some very unusual specials of mutton haleem stew, the sauteed sheep brain dish called magaz, paya trotter soup and nihari beef shank stew. We plumped for a dish of paya to sample alongside our other somewhat belated orders. Fears this delay would lead to another extensive wait for food were soon abated by the general relaxed nature of the venue that allowed the OCC to proceed with Club business. The mains arrived without any errors or issues and we all tucked in. The food was ok. Some members found the chicken rubbery, personally I felt it was cooked very nicely. However the sauces of both the vindaloo and the chicken karahi were somewhat oily, the karahi in particular disappointingly lacking in spice. The saag paneer was tasty and the mixed tandoori grills looked great value for money. The paya wasn't to my fancy but perhaps the trotters floating in the soup put me off. The undoubted star of my dish, perhaps unsurprisingly given the venue's name, was the roti. At 60p it was an absolute bargain and perfectly cooked. After filling our faces, we settled up - £25 per head including tip and soft drinks (Roti is a BYOB place) - and exited into the cold winter night, slightly warmer for the experience but perhaps not as warm as we may have been. OCC Ratings: Customer Care - 5.62 Service - 4.8 Value - 6.02 Quality - 5.15 Atmosphere - 3.2 Overall - 4.96/10 Roti Food Bar is NOT OCC recommended, given the required 7.5/10 required for such an honour.

Some of the best, most authentic Pakistani food I've had in the UK. Really fresh tasting and beautifully spiced and seasoned. I would highly recommend the chicken or lamb on the bone, the karahi paneer and egg aloo in particular. It's always been delivered quickly and piping hot and fresh. An absolute must try.

Food was excellent, lots of dishes to try.

Quite simply the most bland meat curry I've ever had, but the disappointment didn't end there, it was very expensive as well! Considering other restaurants on lincoln road, the prices here were waaaay too high. But as for the curry, which was ordered as 'hot' I was shocked at the lack of taste and flavour. Only positive was cleanliness and polite staff.

Recommended by an indian friend - as the most authentic tasting takeaway/sit down diner in Peterborough We have not been dissapointed - the classics are still on the menu but the use of fresh spices cuts through and there are other genuine delights to please the jaded european tastebuds. It's very hard to find a great curry as good as you make it at home. I had the Lamb Daal for my main, polo rice, followed with a peshwari naan all of which totalled to £9.70. The portions were good and were enough for 2 people, however, I don't eat a lot and usually share dishes when I go out. Overall the service was good, relatively fast and the flavours were fantastic. I asked for a medium curry and that's what I got. Wasn't too hot nor too mild, just right. If you want good prices, and a quick curry that tastes home made, then go here. I enjoyed my visit and will go again soon.
