Great food and service as usual and I loved the new vegetable dishes on the menu.

Love this place, who's absolutely amazing!

Update: the place has gone downhill unfortunately. Been here over 10 times now and never had a bad experience. Service is second to none, cocktails are 10/10 and the food is spot on. Great value and a pleasant atmosphere. Outstanding

Nearly 2 hours and the foods not here. Go somewhere else. These clowns don't know what they are doing.

Suppose to open at 12, stood outside at half past and had to ring to be let in. Was walked to a table then told the kitchen wouldn’t be open till 1. So no service for an hour after opening. Came back at 1 asked for the lunch menu which they advertise on their website for weekend lunch times. Waitress didn’t know what the menu was left to ask came back and said they don’t do one. Left without eating anything. Clean place, smelled good, terrible service didn’t eat.

I recently dined at Banyan Tree in Peterborough, and while the food was quite good, the service left much to be desired. We had to wait over 20 mins just to receive the menu, and it took another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. After that, it was another long wait—about 60 minutes—before the food finally arrived at our table. The taste of the food was enjoyable, but the overall experience was disappointing due to the extremely slow and inefficient service. If you’re planning to visit, make sure you have plenty of time to spare because the waiting time is significant. Overall, great food but extremely poor service.

We were visiting Peterborough for the day and stumbled upon this place by accident when looking for somewhere to have dinner. Lovely, friendly professional staff and the food was out of this world. The lamb in our curries was melt in the mouth and beautifully cooked. The rich, delicious curry sauce was among the best I've ever had We were able to choose a medium strength curry then "spice it up" to vindaloo heat . It was so flavourful and tasty. The peshwari naan was probably the best I've ever had. Can't fault the staff and the service. Thank you so much for a great meal and lovely evening.

Have been to banyan tree multiple times before but this time was absolutely disappointed with the degradation of services and quality. Not only did the food take forever to come but the taste was also really not up to the mark. The naan bread was tough and chewy and the aloo kulcha had no aloo. When I complained and sent back the aloo kulcha, it took an absurd amount of time to come back, by the time all of the sides were cold. Coming to the sides, the anda keema, being one of the star dishes before, now was just a mushy concoction that had way tooo much salt. Absolutely horrendous experience. Never coming back !!

Very impressed with the food here, everything was very flavourful, portion sizes was just perfect for 2 of us and a great reliable place for Indian cuisine!

Outstanding lamb curry........My brother used one of those food delivery apps that I don't use. However, he ordered food to go. So, my review is takeaway only. But I can say that whichever lamb curry he ordered was one of the best that I've ever had. Utterly succulent soft lamb. Extremely well cooked. These peeps know their subject. Good work guys. I tell you what this was quite possibly the best curry I’ve had, especially with the particular craving I was having at the time! I wanted a creamy yet spicy sauce to be accompanied by lamb. Oscar was extremely helpful in helping me with this! Chefs, fantastic! Service exceptional and food unbelievable! I’m a foodie and if you love curries, ask this place for the out of town special because trust me, it’s special 👌🏽

Beautiful food as always!! This is my favourite restaurant to dine in, the atmosphere and decor is so beautiful and relaxing, perfect for date nights or group meals. Vipul and the rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had the vegetarian options which were all delicious.Would recommend this restaurant to everyone!! We had the “taster menu” which was possibly the best Indian meal I have had, the food was lovely and just kept coming (I am soooo full now). Really recommended.

Amazing food!! Highly recommend.

Came in for lunch today with 2 other people. It was empty and were the only people there during lunch. Great atmosphere for us! We come here regularly with family so food was lovely as usual. We would definitely recommend their biryani! We had lamb and chicken and they were cooked so well, the lamb was soft and chicken tikka packed a punch of flavours. I had Massala Dosa and it was great. We ate everything and we we’re definitely full afterwards as the portion sizes are big enough. Price is not too bad, considering the portion sizes it’s great.

Visited today and honestly I’m annoyed that I hadn’t visited sooner: I had their lamb rogan Josh, the spice was just right. Enough of a kick to bring on a small sweat. My partner had their seasoned tikka masala, we shared some pilau rice, we shared a nan which was lovely with the sauce. I do wish there were a lil more veggies and potato’s on the menu, maybe balti potato’s, I hear there’s a new menu coming too, I’m excited and hoping for a good vindaloo or Japfrezi! The staff were lovely, and am excited to give the restaurant another go before we move away!

It was my first time to explore Peterborough. I found an Indian restaurant for lunch. The owner and staff were very kind and welcoming. They patiently recommended the restaurant’s dishes. I ordered a chicken and a shrimp. The quality of the food was of a very high standard and the interior decoration was beautiful. It’s so comfortable and worth recommending to friends to eat there👍

Just competed a party for 8 and very impressed. Oscar looked after us very well, even whilst training the keen to impress Patel. The tapas starter was a great hit, very well presented, spiced and delicious. I tried a new dish for my main, a lamb Bhuna of some sort. Really good, the meat and sauce full of flavour and the whole table cleaned up! Thanks for a great meal and we look forward to coming back.

Have always enjoyed the food at the Banyan Tree so had a friends birthday meal there on a Friday night. I can only assume it was a rare night off for the family that own the establishment. Met at the bat for drinks and service was polite but slow and not engaging, had to ask for drinks as they weren't offered. Once seated had to ask for menus, received 4 drinks menus. Asked for the food menus and more drinks. Only 2 menus and slow drinks service. I have never had to request poppadoms at an Indian restaurant but when he walked off when I was asking I knew we'd come on the wrong night (however it wasn't busy). Came back and 10 minutes later popadoms and starters ordered (werent allowed to order mains at the same time). Food arrived minus 1 meal and ordered more drinks. Drinks didn't arrive, hadn't ordered mains so called it a night and went elsewhere (after paying the bill;-)) Such a shame as the food was, as usual, really good. If I didn't know this was a blip it would have been a lower score. We all have our off days and this was one of theirs.

The staff need to get their act together. Cant complain about the food, just the way it was served and miscommunicated. We ordered a sharing platter of the Frontier Mixed grill as a starter, then curries and rice etc for mains. We waited over 40 minutes before all of a sudden our table was full of everything served at once. which led to us eating fast so it wouldnt go cold and having to put our main on a dirty plate used by the starter- the staff were not paying attention else we would have asked for a clean plate or for the mains to be taken to be kept warm. To top all that an hour after we left we suddenty realised that the sizzling platter was served with no fish and that was one of the main reasons we had ordered it to try something a bit different. Its put us off going again

We have been to this restaurant recently and it is fantastic. The staffs are welcoming and explain any questions. If you ever want to try the authentic taste of Indian dishes I would recommend this restaurant. There are a lot of restaurants who name the restaurants as Indian restaurant who indeed are either pakistani or bangladeshi restaurants, but 'The Banyan Tree' is authentic not just by ambiance, but also with the taste of food. We tries a Prawn dish, chicken starters and naan bread, they were finger licking good. My wife tries the vegie dishes and they were mouth watering.

What a truly lovely eatery! Staff go above and beyond to cater for their diners. The food is flavour some and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend The Banyan Tree, especially the Lunch menu which I think is 12 pound a head now. Great find for a tasty Curry and awesome decor. A1+ Service with a smile!

Bombay potatoes were tinned new potatoes in sauce..... pilau rice was more like brown instead and the korma was unbelievably low quality wouldn't waste my time or taste buds

Went the other week with a friend for some food, we were the only people there which can’t be helped but the staff were attentive and the food was lovely would go again definitely

This is my go-to restaurant for Peterborough whenever I’m in the area for dinner. The food, customer service, and atmosphere have been great each time I’ve been. Great prices for the quantity of food. Overall recommend

Food was good service good a bit pricey though

Food was very good. Had lunch time special. Small choice if staters and curry with nan or rice. Smaller portion than main menu but plenty big enough for lunch. You can ask for it to be made extra spicy if that is your preferanc.

Nice food, terrible atmosphere. Eeeily silent and actually felt uncomfortable having a conversation at times. The food was nice but we were the only diners in the restaurant for our entire visit which did not make for a very comfortable dining experience. I was also given a dirty side plate.

We had an outstanding experience dining here! The staff were incredibly personable and made our experience so easy. It was my partners birthday meal, which I mentioned when booking, and we were welcomed to our table filled with roses and hearts. The food was incredible and reasonably priced (big portions too!). We highly recommend and will be back!

Amazing night for Valentine’s- so refreshing to find a restaurant who are not charging double for the same menu as another night. The Banyan Tree instead devised a beautiful 10 course menu and decorated the whole restaurant for valentines spacing the tables to give more private conversations. The food was amazing, with each dish excellently presented and explained when brought to the table. One of us is vegetarian and they went out of the way to ensure that the vegetarian was well catered for, nothing was too much on their customer care.

The food was probably the best Indian food I've ever had. The waiter Rana was fairly new he told me, but you wouldn't know, his service was absolutely first class. I've eaten in banyan tree many times, it's always been high quality, but I think this time was the best. Perfect lunchtime, perfect food and service, I'll definitely be back again.

What an absolute pleasure to dine here with friends last night. The welcome, the service and the food were second to none. The owner Dinesh and head waiter Dheeraj are a credit to the restaurant trade. We had a very well thought through taster menu that took us on a journey through traditional Indian food. From start to finish our palate was treated to some amazingly flavoursome food, all brilliantly described of the origins of each dish. Every dish was savoured by all 3 of us. The king cobra also compliments the flavour and spice delivered. Thank you Dinesh and your team, you are all very talented

We stopped off in Peterborough and decided to try this restaurant, we were not disappointed. I eat at a LOT of Indian restaurants and have to say the food was absolutely superb. This was also the view of my five friends. The flavours were wonderful and the service was excellent, really friendly. Looking forward to going back.

We really enjoyed our night out at The Banyan Tree in Peterborough. The service was excellent and our waiter was very helpful describing the items on the menu as they were very different to what we're used to in the North West of the UK. The quality and choice of food was excellent. We'll certainly be going back next time we're in Peterborough.

First time visitor to city , and been a Bradford boy originally was looking for a good Indian meal and really wasn't disappointed, whole experience was excellent. Well done to all staff and I highly recommend anyone visiting to try

Nice quiet place on a weekday. We had ordered mixed plater sizzler which was decent onion pakora was Okish could have been more cooked. Chicken and lamb was fine. Butter naans were really good. Chicken Kura was spicy but good. It had green and red chili and was very nice. Unless you don't eat Indian level spicy wouldn't recommend kura.

Always visit the Banyan when I’m on business in Peterborough… never fails to impress. The owner couldn’t be more attentive and helps guide you through the extensive menu. And the food is some of the best Indian out there (and I’ve travelled a lot)

We only spent one day in Peterborough, so we were very lucky to find this restaurant. The food was outstanding, and the service was both efficient and friendly. If we revisit Peterborough, we will definitely go back here.

Really enjoyed my visit, very welcoming and friendly with a good balance of service and just leaving you to enjoy your meal. (Which I liked) the staff were helpful when asking about the menu and especially when asking about the levels of spice and heat. The meal was extremely good and I can only recommend and compliment the restaurant on their food and the quality of ingredients We had a great time and nothing was too much trouble, we found it was reasonably priced for the quality and standard of service and the food presented Will most definitely be back again and recommend the Banyan Tree to anyone , thank you again and see you soon

My recent visit to The Banyan Tree left me with mixed feelings. While there were a few positives, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the food was tasty, but I couldn't help but feel that it was slightly overpriced for what was offered. The menu had promise, but the cost didn't quite match the quality. The decor and ambiance were rather average, lacking that special something to set it apart from other dining establishments. Service was just okay – nothing particularly outstanding, but not terrible either. The staff did their job, but there was a lack of that extra effort to make the experience memorable. However, the most concerning aspect of our visit was that three out of four of us fell ill the next day. This was extremely disappointing and raised serious questions about the restaurant's food safety and hygiene practices. Food poisoning is something no one should experience when dining out. Unfortunately, due to this negative experience, we won't be returning to this restaurant. We expected more for the price we paid and cannot overlook the health issues we encountered. It's essential for the restaurant to prioritize the well-being of its patrons and revisit its pricing and overall dining experience. In conclusion, our visit to The Banyan Tree was marred by a combination of factors, making it impossible to recommend. We hope that they take our feedback seriously and work towards improving their overall offering.

Lovely people and the most flavoursome curry you'll ever taste. I've eaten at many indian restaurants over the years, but this place is very different. Curry's that you can actually taste all the spices rather than a hot sauce. If you're in Peterborough, pay this place a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely menu choice and well presented food but let down by amount of salt in every dish. Service to begin with was ok but non existent by end. No one around to order more drinks except a man in the corner on his laptop. We were seated around a corner with another group and due to high ceiling the noise level was unbearable. It dosent look like the photos on trip advisor, more like a school dinning room. I’m not usually too critical but it really was not a good experience and there is such better hospitality offered in Peterborough restaurants.

On arrival shown to a table. Asked for alcohol free beer and the waiter began a big sell on alcohol free wines and spirits.. all very popular now you should try them. NO we wanted Alcohol free beer, finally settled for a Peroni zero. Pickle tray only has three small pots on it to go with the poppadoms. No onion and cucumber. Our curries were OK, nice tender lamb, chicken dishes were OK but not wholly as described on the menu for flavour. Naan's are quite small. No after dinner mint with the bill. Clearly trying to reduce costs and maintain a profit. But it does not leave you feeling you've had a good value dinner experience for the menu prices... Will not be rushing back. There are plenty of alternative Indian restaurants in town to enjoy.

The food here is just wonderful. Really deep flavours, with lovely quality ingredients. I couldn’t eat it all so took some home and the next day the leftovers were even better. Can’t wait to go back.

I've been eating at The Banyan Tree since 2018 both as a dine-in and takeaway customer. This place has some of the best Indian food you'd ever find. Some dishes like Mysore Chilli Chicken, Lacha Paratha and Paneer Reshmi cannot be found at most other restaurants and these guys execute the recipes beautifully. Their Mixed Grill is also one of the best I have had. Highly recommended place to go to surprise someone or even to eat by yourself. They consistently improve their recipes and maintain excellent customer service. Love it.

Not the same as your usual expectation of an Indian reatraunt, I.e. like for like. This is well balanced, although the menu is not as extensive as some, the dishes are varied and a welcome tweak on some of the classics. Good quality, reasonable price.

Could not decide what to do for lunch that was different - no excuse or ocassion so went to The Banyan Tree. What an experience of wonderful hospitality and food that made today very special and it didn't hurt the pocket. Excellent starters and main courses - all with different explosion of flavours in the mouth. Thoroughly enjoyed our time with hosting going the extra mile to make sure we were all enjoying the experience and the delightful food. Many thanks for a wonderful experience to The Banyan Tree.

Incredibly nice, polite and helpful staff. The tasting is very delicious, the appetizer is filling and a large portion. The staff helped us choose the main course and we took it with pleasure. The place is cozy, clean and friendly. They were happy to answer any questions we had and help us. I recommend everyone to give it a try, you won't be disappointed. We are sure to come again.

We booked a lunch prior going to a matinee show. The entrance is very tatty and in need of brightening up. I would not have entered it as chance customer! Inside on the ground floor it’s acceptable and clean and pleasant but lack any really...

We had an absolutely delicious dinner here. The service was welcoming and exceptional. Popadum followed by a perfectly spiced chicken dish accompanied by aubergine bharta and the best tarka Dahl ever. This must not miss restaurant is the best in Peterborough!

A lovely place to grab Sunday lunch! Food seemed like small portions but was very filling and delicious 🔥 The service was very fast and the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend the chettinand chicken (extra spice can be requested for the spice lovers) with rice or butter naan. Thaalis have been discontinued 🥺 But still, definitely will come again❤️

We celebrated my grandson birthday party in Banyan tree. Chicken tikka and Sheekh kebab tasted great. Lamb was well cooked. Biriyani would have been made better. But overall it was a great experience. I recommend Banyan tree for good Indian food.

Having heard good things about this place, we were underwhelmed. Food was rather greasy.

Very warm pleasant atmosphere with excellent hosting skills. Really enjoyed our vegetarian lunch - each dish had a unique taste of its own. Stand alone presentation of each dish was exceptional and would highly recommend. Definitely dining here again and again. Visited Saturday 28th Jan, booking a table for two with the tasting menu. Great dishes, well explained, cooked to individual preferences. Service was impeccable and nothing too much trouble. Cannot recommend too highly, and at £35pp was an absolute steal. Many many thanks

Visited for a family meal, we didn’t book however they accommodated us, The staff are welcoming & the owner was a fantastic host & stopped by for a chat. we ordered the mains which was amazing, baigan bortha, a traditional indian eggplant which was fusioned...

I have been eating at the Banyan Tree for over 10 years, and the quality is still exceptional, as witnessed during my last visit. Try not to choose the dishes that sound familiar, but ask them for suggestions and you will be very pleasantly surprised....

First time at the restaurant the service and food was excellent.

Went for the lunch menu on Saturday afternoon. Restaurant was very quiet at that time so service was very good. Food was very tasty if obviously a cheap lunch offering, would like to have seen a bit more meat in the dishes. Drinks were expensive also, Overall a good experience will try again for an evening meal.
