The best Indian restaurant in Peterborough City Centre, located in a great place! My wife and I we had chicken biriyani and mix chicken and prawn biriyani which was very tasty. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone. They have many varieties of foods, drinks as well as starters. The service we received from the employee named Vipul was 5 star. We will come back for sure!

Best Indian restaurant in town. Very friendly staff Clean easy to park your car very good location. There is a nice car park behind the restaurant. Price is much better than most Indian restaurant and portion size much bigger than the other Indian restaurant in town.

The quality of food at Banyan Tree in Werrington is just sensational. Quality is always as good as I’ve experienced anywhere in the world and this combined with the friendly service and atmosphere makes it a strong recommend!

Had dinner there which I thought was very pricey and small in portions and tasted very plain and bland compared to most other indian resturants that I have eaten in.The interior decor and table presentation is very plain, the lady server was very polite but the male was very blunt and not very welcoming I will not be revisiting that establishment again.

Went to see a show so not from the area, therefore picked The Banyan Tree by chance. Was it super fast and hurried, no. Was it freshly made and extremely delicious, yes. Absolutely lovely food, probably top 3 curries I've ever had. Thank you, will be back for certain!!

Great curry, lovely staff, good beer. Unusual menu too (not just standard dishes) so makes you have something different, which in itself if nice.

We had a lovely meal here, we booked for 6pm on a Friday and it was quiet in the restaurant, i can imagine it gets quite busy later on. The people serving were very friendly and helpful. Food was great. Nice relaxed atmosphere with Indian music in the background. There was a small car park at the back. Will definitely go again.

The Best Food I've ever had, my number 1. Anyone who gives the food any less than five stars clearly hasn't experienced good Indian food (not Bangladeshi or Pakistani food) these guys are actual Indian. There are only three Indian restaurants in the whole of Peterborough.

Tasty curry but only 4 small pieces of meat per curry is hardl value for money, kept waiting 20 minutes to order then another 45 minutes before food ready. Appreciate it takes time to cook but i was the only customer in the restaurant foyer. Definitely definitely not worth the money.

Very friendly welcome and great service throughout , didn't feel rushed or pressured, the staff are happy and patient and allow you to enjoy your dining experience. Most importantly the food is incredible, I highly recommend the mixed starter for 2 first time I've ever had fish in an Indian restaurant (WOW!!) Will definitely be back!!!!!

I placed an order online and with trying to contact the restaurant with no answer the order arrived 25mins late, the food was also cold with the wrong rice delivered! I had paid more for the wrong dish to be sent and with calling the restaurant 7 times and no answer I was not impressed at all. Online it says to contact via a certain email if there is a problem and require a refund, I've done that and they have responded a week late and said they cannot help and to contact the restaurant! Absolute joke and such a shame as I love the Banyan Tree but from now on I will be using the city centre restaurant for Dine in and Takeaway as this is the second time I've tried to contact Werrington over an order that has had an issue.

Service could be Better. There were a few of us but we didn't get a smiley service. Had to repeat what we wanted due to the language barrier. Food always lovely though. Even if a tad pricey for me. I had the lamb biryani. Delicious 😋

EXCELLENT in every way. Delicious food, wonderful friendly service, great ambiance. Top notch food and drinks menu. They happily allowed us to take our time and were most helpful explaining the menu and various dishes. Everything is made fresh from scratch so you can have your desired spice and heat with any dish. This place truly is a hidden gem. Highly recommend.

Shocking & lazy service sent the wrong order! Wanted to replace only the curry while the rice etc goes cold, And then sent a spicy curry instead of a mild one that was quested.

Phenomenal delivered takeaway. Spontaneous decision to not cook and have a takeaway for my daughter and myself. I had recently visited the Banyan Tree restaurant in Peterborough centre and I was impressed with the authenticity of the cuisine: it was truly delicious! Tonight I decided to try Werrington Banyan Tree for a takeaway. We were delighted with an authentic tasting chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh. Taste and texture of mains, naans, rice and starter dishes was of an elevated level. Efficient and timely delivery by a very pleasant and polite delivery person with Just Eat. Definitely recommend and I plan to book a family gathering at the restaurant in Werrington. Thank you to all at the Banyan tree :)

Good meal but on the expensive side. With a small bottle of beer or cider costing about £5 . Not sure I would go again

Starters are a must try. But Lamb kadai will disappoint you. Overall a good place for Indian cuisine.

Had a wait on arrival whilst the host completed a phone call. Not all the draft beers are available off the bar pumps. Bottled Pepsi with a good mark up. Popodoms and pickle tray nice. Lamb Ghoste dish was very tender, well spiced as requested. Chicken Korma was creamy, chicken was a little cheery, Chicken Madras was nice. Limited rice options, nice garlic naan. Will definitely return again for the good food.

Awful service. Asked the waiter to clean the table twice & he simply used a tissue and looked grumpy, leaving the table dirty. Fish and prawn curry tasted almost the same. Waited over 30 minutes for starters and even longer for main courses. Food is average and service is appalling.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, what is likely to be the first of many! Not withstanding the friendly welcome and brilliant service, the vegan menu is HUGE and full of variety. We got chatting to our server who is vegan herself and influenced their chef, who enthusiastically took on the challenge to convert and design vegan versions of their authentic dishes. We had the shared vegan vegetable platter to start which was bursting with full and flavoursome veggies - baby corn, roasted cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers and onion, as well as a sumptuous extra that we think was soya chunks. Whatever it was, it was moreish! Each were gorgeously spiced whilst still staying true to what they were. I get fed up of vegan options being 'deep fried everything' so this was a refreshing change! For my main I enjoyed the soya keema mutta with a tandoor roti, again delicious! My boyfriend had a non vegan option and was equally impressed, but said he regretted not trying something off the vegan menu as it all looked so good. If you're looking for an authentic Indian without having to go into town, this place fits the bill perfectly! Highly recommended.

Used to be our favourite place to eat but has deteriorated considerably. We had taken a birthday cake for the usual after dinner cake cutting antics but decided to bring it home instead as the experience was so awful. Sat in the cold with coats on. Eating luke warm, mediocre food. Waited nearly an hour between courses. Writing a review like this is not the ideal way to start a Sunday and I understand that staff shortages can create carnage for restauranteurs. Slightly delayed orders, inattentive staff and a sub-optimal eating experience is normal in these situations… …but for an experience to be so all-round awful and no explanation or even acknowledgement of just how bad it was deserves an appropriately written review. Perhaps a one-off but enough to have this previously outstanding eatery taken off the list of go-to’s.

Absolutely fantastic food everytime we have this, we've sat in the restaurant and we have takeaways!! Can honestly say this is the best curry I've ever had. Would never go anywhere else now after moving to Werrington recently. Freshly made to order everytime, no scrimping and scraping! Pure quality!!!! And the people are really nice too, 100% recommended 👌

Lovely little place and beautifully cooked food

Absolutely awful Prawn starter dry tasted reheated dry bland £8 robbery. Main lamb dish Don’t know where to start with this offering. Unbelievable spicy hot advertised as a gravy sauce Tell tale signs of been cooked and reheated Thick dark and impossible to eat. Dumped most of it in the bin. Shameful Don’t waste your money which this excuse for an India meal. Last order was just as bad but would give any local restaurant the benefit of the doubt.

Visited on a Sunday night which was quiet. Piyush was very friendly as always & gave us a warm welcome. Food was nice as always, much prefer this cosy restaurant to the one in town. Well done everyone keep up the good work

Found it on the web and as it was just walking distance from our hotel we gave it a go. About half seven, we were the only customers (another couple arrived later) Waitress was very friendly, menu was interesting We had starters and mains plus some naan Really excellent food - it took some time to arrive so freshly made? Waitress was very interesting talking about her background. Visiting from Europe, we probably under-tipped Restored faith in UK Indian restaurants

We had booked to celebrate birthdays .The food was so authentic and sooooo tasty . Every dish had a different taste .The cuisine reminded me of higher end restaurants in Mumbai . The food was a very good value ,added extras to make it special for the Birthday girls .it was pure vegetarian meal for us .if the vegetarian meal was so tasty non veg will be just as good . Thank you so much Piyuesh ,Prinyanka ,Chef and all the staff for looking after us . Highly recommended if you like authentic Indian cuisine.

This was so disappointing - I have a fairly severe dairy intolerance - was super hungry - really fancied a curry - and have had plenty of curries elsewhere. But as soon as they discovered I needed to avoid dairy they just refused to serve me 🙁

Took over 2 hours to serve the food ,unable to get a drink in over an hour lied to customers about wait time absolute joke

We hadn’t been here for a few years, so were not sure what to expect. Busy Tuesday evening (Help to Eat) jampacked with ‘helpers’. Social distancing was reasonable. Food was excellent, we packed some. I note the interesting and well-made different dishes eg chicken chettinad. Very well-made, nice people. Must come back!

I've just had a takeaway from the Banyan Tree in Werrington. I was impressed by the quality of food, very very good! Portions weren't the biggest but it filled me up. I'll be back!

went for midweek treat. didn't have to book a table was very quiet. Nice friendly staff and efficient. you can park around the corner near a row of small shops. was quite pricy for a midweek, expected to have some offers on. however overall was nice but next time for a midweek treat I will get a take away.

Our 1st time at this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The food was amazing, especially the biryani. The peshwari nann was really tasty. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Being our local Indian it was our usual go to for takeaway & eating in, now after too many incidents of poor service will be going elsewhere. Service has been very hit and miss on all my previous visits 10+ times but the food taste and quality normally made up for this. Unfortunately not anymore, ordered a takeaway which was delivered 45mins late, cold and without one of the dishes that was ordered. This was rectified making the meal actually 1hour later than expected. My food was quite bland for a 'spicy' curry dish and for the price was really expecting more, nearly £5 for a rice dish & £8-£10 for a main when ordering takeaway was premium especially considering I have eaten nicer curries out of Tesco. Will not be returning.

On business trips I often seek out a good Indian restaurant near the hotel. However on this occasion I failed to find one. The place was empty when I arrived for a takeaway on a Thursday at around 6.45. First warning bell! The waiter was extremely polite but the menu was limited. The starters were all priced around normal main course rates and the lamb tikka starter was tough and bland. I’m a fan of Madras which is not available but the menu leads you towards a Chettinadu as a similar dish but it wasn’t. It was a very strange sauce that was swimming in ghee or oil and at the price was not good value. The chicken was as tough as the lamb tikka. Don’t normally do bad reviews but this was just not up to scratch.

I am a king prawn pathia madras hot man although I could not be made this, I asked for a alternative with loads of flavour thick hot sauce the above mentioned fit the bill admirably. Rice naan and chicken tikka lovely, only concern which Restuarant needs to look at, and a lot make this mistake poppadoms stale and soft . Would definatley return

Excellent meal for the three of us this evening, couldn't fault the quality, with a good range of dishes to choose from.

Disappointing lack of traditional Indian-restaurant fare on the menu. No Madras, no Dhansak, no Jalfrezi, no Shashlik, no Vindaloo, no Tandoori-style fish. They appear to have replaced the traditional sauces with what the menu describes as "gravy", extremely runny, and rather too salty in the dish I had. There are no vegetable side-dishes on the menu, like mushroom bhaji, bombay aloo or chana masalla, only vegetarian main courses at a higher price. There was no menu posted on the outside of the restaurant, nor or the website, so we had no way of knowing all this in advance. The furniture inside is dowdy and utilitarian and there are no tablecloths.The young man serving was polite and diligent, but quite clearly overworked in having to deal with the telephone orders, the drinks, the meal ordering, the bills, table-setting and all the meals.

We usually order take out from here but popped in for the first time last week. The food is really very good. Plenty of options for different pallets and dietary requirements. The staff were nice but we did wait a very long time for our food to come (over 40 mins) It was fairly busy however. We will be back and would recommend :)

Absolute favourite curry house!! The chana massala/peshwari pindi is the best Ive ever had, and their chicken korma is amazing, so so different to the norm! Definitely worth a visit or a takeaway!

Dining with friends to sample the new menu - they had been before and recommended a visit.My starter of fish with peanuts chilli and fenugreek was absolutely the best starter I think I've ever had. So tasty and different.However my main course was a bit of a different story. Prawn chettinadu with rice and poppadoms. The sauce was delicious but there were only 3 prawns! Not huge great big ones either for £13.95?My husband had chicken - but thought he had prawns. About 4 pieces of chicken that had been marinated and then cooked. Except the menu didn't say deep fried first and then cooked in the sauce. The result was very soft chicken that curled in the shape of a prawn - in fact he couldn't really tell what it was.The new menu promises to be something else and definitely looks better - but on this visit we were very disappointed.

We visited the restaurant on a Wednesday evening, as we wanted to sample the Tali, which gives you a taste of several dishes for a very attractive price of £9.95 per person. The starter consisted of 3 tasting dishes, with chicken wings being quite spiced, which was to our liking. The mains consisted of 3 dishes, plus rice and a naan to share. The mains could have been more spicey for us, but otherwise OK. The only complaint we had was that there was a long wait between the starters and the main course, even though we were asked if we were ready for the main course when the starter dishes were collected.

Friday night 6pm. Only people in the place. No drinks offered for almost 20 minutes. Order eventually taken. Didn’t write it down so you know it was going to go wrong! Drinks arrived no ice so had to ask after he’d left the table at some speed. You could tell his head was somewhere else and pretty sure it was the owner. Ordered mains rice and naan with a side of sweet corn. Pretty simple. Over 40 mins later no food. Lots of takeaways leaving so focus was that. Still the only people in there.

Ordered a home delivery take away for first time at the weekend. Food was superb, fresh, non-greasy and not stodgy so didn’t leave you with the usual uncomfortable feeling. Will definitely be eating from here again

We made a last minute booking and they were happy to accommodate us. We were welcomed warmly and served drinks and Poppadoms straight away. The food was exceptional and the restaurant had a really nice atmosphere. It was super busy but didn't affect the service at all. You need to go here and have the chilli paneer!

Food quality n taste good n sometimes better but overall quantity is a big let down with respect to money they charge. In GBP 4.5 they give 1 n 1/2 scoop of ice cream..n GBP 5.5 only two mediocre pieces of hara bara kebeb...the size of them are very depressing 😁 Again only this is a concern but stuff are really good.. biriyani was good..chicken Tikka masala mediocre..🤐 GUYS INCREASE THE QUANTITY PLEASE.🙄
