Sweet staff. Ordered lamb karai. He gave us complimentary rice. Liked the taste. Well-cooked. They have culinary magazines in waiting area. I cant help appreciate aesthetic sense of a place. So i enjoyed my time while waiting for food.

This has been my go to Indian for a while now but the last couple of times the dishes have been very watery and lacked any flavour or just far too much tomato. Don’t know if they’ve changed chef but it’s certainly not the food we used to enjoy… might be time to try somewhere else unfortunately.

Ríce not good at all and the chicken biryani was not nice at all

food was delicious, very happy with my order,very tasty. poppadoms were forgotten however they delivered separately with many apologies along with a free bottle of coke and lots of dips. will definitely order from them again 10 out of 10 ☺️

This was a big order for a birthday meal. Normally this is the go-to for a curry in Peterborough, but this day everything was downhill. The coriander chicken wasn't even that lovely bright green colour, and tasted nothing like our previous orders. The lamb podina lacked in flavour and needed salt. Salt was missing in most dishes and they were very oily, which is a first for Shah Jehan. I'm not sure if there's a new chef or if the main one was off, but the quality really dropped here.

Not an Indian restaurant. No spice, tasted more like a mix of middle eastern and british cuisine. Was certainly not cooked by someone knowledgable in asian cuisine. Shocking, never had such an experience around here and especially since I followed the generally good reviews this place has. Would never order again as it was disappointing.

Been using this restaurant for takeaways for many years, can't fault the food but realised after ordering from their website that over the years they have been adding 0.50p service charge to every transaction, we let it go as we enjoy the food so much and delivery always on time, but now they are also charging to deliver even though we spend between £25-£35 each time we order, this with the 50p adds up so might have to find somewhere else for our Saturday night takeaways.

food still not received over 2 hours of waiting

Food took over 2 hours to arrive from 10 min away. App said it was with the driver then after reporting as late they added another 20 min on to expected time. Called them when it was late again to be told we are busy darling. Chicken tikka curry a bland watery slop, bhuna tastless, prawn puri strangely sweet and fries mush. The best thing was the cold boiled rice. Requested a refund before the food arrived but apparently it hadn’t come through from just eat so nothing they can do. Complete waste of time and money

Sadly the curry separated and I had a plate full of water. Chicken was like stewed steak. Onion bhaji was very good.

Within minutes of dishing up I used 6 sheets of kitchen roll to soak up the water as the sauce completely seperated. Naan Bread was not like any naan bread I’ve ever had, it was like wholemeal flour. The chicken was so over cooked it was like stewed steak. Found 261 reviews majority were the same name.

We had a takeaway delivered to Bayard Plaza Apartments as visiting for a couple of days. What a lovely takeaway. The man who answered the phone was great and called when on way to meet us outside. The food was hot and tasted incredible. Definitely recommend

OMG Tandoori king prawns were huge and amazing, we had a delivery and prawns don't always travel well but these were something special, cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Always enjoy the food but tonight's food was exceptional.

We regularly order a delivery from here and the reason being, it is consistently good! It is always delivered on time by a really lovely guy. The food is tasty, good portions and good value. We’ve also eaten at the restaurant and have never been dissapointed 😊

Friendly lady on the phone took our order and read it back to confirm . Food came in about an hour which she advised of . Chicken madras, lamb biryani, seekh kebab, sag aloo and rice all nice . Samosas wernt very crispy and the nan breads wernt great either. £38 cost which isn’t bad as was plenty of food which would of probably done 4 people .

I was very happy with the rice. Fluffy, fresh and hot egg fried rice. Unlike most of these other places that serve stale rice. The ceylon curry was also nice; not loaded w sugar and colours. I'll be back here

For £4.50 they cut two mushrooms in half and called it pakora. They charged almost £10 for a "king prawn" korma that only had 6 tiny little prawns in a large tray of sauce that tasty like rubber. A pile of crap that ain't worth the money. They charge a lot of money for second rate food.

Almost all the Indian and Pakistani dishes were available and taste was amazing . I would definitely recommend Shah Jahan Peterborough to desi food lovers. 👍👍

The food is actually really nice and delivery very quick. The driver was really nice However the English women on the phone is exceptionally rude and ignorant to the point I nearly put the phone down and cancel. I passed on my complaint to the driver to tell the manager any more of it there will be no more orders. Disgusting way to talk to customers. Maybe consider getting rid of the lazy lay about and employ someone who's actually good for your business. Other than that can't fault you guys.

We always order from here, always fabulous food and great variety all with its own distinctive flavour. Just one negative,,,they really need to upgrade the bread selection, naans very small and tough, tried a paratha instead but that was worse, greasy and burnt, come on guys don't spoil the great food by serving rubbish breads.

First time ordering from this restaurant as just moved to peterborough so wanted to try something new. Ordered the butter chicken, which I’ve had many times before from different places, it came and it was so spicy, like inedible. I attempted to call the restaurant, lady on the phone let me know that their medium spice is equivalent to a MADRAS and also went on to let me know there was two types on there a spicy one and a milder one, which wasn’t specified online. I was met which neither a refund or an attempt to send out the milder one, kitchen manager very rude and hung up the phone mid conversation.

The service and food was fantastic, Maggie the manager and the owner went above and beyond and even catered a dish especially for me as I wanted to try somthing new! I was not disappointed freshly cooked with delicious ingredients will absolutely use this restaurant again. Thank you.

One of Peterborough's oldest and best Indian restaurants. The place looks a little tired but the food is superb and the waitress (Maggie) is a star. I had Hyderabadi Lamb which was a new dish to me. It didn't disappoint, lots of lamb in a rich and spicy sauce packing a powerful chilli kick. Give the Shah a try, you will be pleased you did

I have had several meals from here, delivered, because of the restrictions, (plus I can be lazy that way!), and they have always been absolutely delicious, hot and tasty. Yesterday, however, my partner and I decided to dine in the restaurant. What a delight! I had not expected such a well-laid out and comfortable restaurant. Then comes the food! WOW! We had a table full of goodness! Samosas, onion bhajis, poppadums, pulao rice and mushroom rice, chicken dhansak (Mumbai), and chicken Ambwala. All this food was absolutely first-class. (Also more than we could manage, so the Manageress boxed it up for us to take home! Dinner tonight is sorted!) There were many items on the menu that I have never experienced, surprising as I lived for over ten years about 1 mile south of Birmingham's Balti Triangle, so I'm very familiar, (or at least so I thought!) with Indian cuisine. We will definitely be visiting again, with a view to work our way through all the new, untried dishes on the menu!

Ordered from here last night for first time and wow really glad we did. Food came on time and was piping hot I mean like straight out the oven hot. Both me and the wife really enjoyed our different curries and rice, great flavour and now already looking at what to have next time. Many thanks.

A hidden gem in Peterborough. Because of the blinds, it does look like it is closed. Don’t be fooled. Food is exceptional, and the prices are reasonable to cheap. Been there twice with my wife, and with a group of colleagues. All are impressed by the food. The host is a breath of fresh air. Knowledgeable on the dishes, and always ready with something witty. Go, you will not be disappointed.

My friend Matt and I visited Shah Jehan on Monday 03/01/2022 for dinner. It was our first visit, but DEFINITELY not our last! Ahmed greeted us on arrival and his service was excellent. The menu is quite extensive and VERY reasonably priced, and Ahmed told us that every dish is freshly prepared. I believe this totally because the taste of our dishes was superb. I started with a King Prawn dish, very tasty and moved on to a King Prawn Rogen Josh. Matt had Lamb Chops starter, then Chicken Korma, which he judged as exceptional. We shared an Onion Rice which neither of us had eaten before, but we both agreed it was a great accompaniment. If you visit only ONE Asian restaurant this year make it the Shah Jehan. You are assured of excellent food and first class service. I am so glad we went here last night. Finally, the gents toilet was immaculate. Everywhere was clean and freshly polished. All in all a real treat and definitely one to try yourself.

This was our first time using Shah Jehan after moving to Peterborough a few years ago. Up until now we have not known what the best Indian restaurants were but we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant. I was unable to load my payment card details to the online order but when I called they took the payment over the phone. The delivery time was spot on and even though it was New Years Eve and exceptionally busy, the delivery driver was full of energy. Thank you, we will become regular customers now.

I ordered at 5:30,didn't come until 7pm,I asked for a peshawari naan I got a dry crumbley plain naan,the chicken in the main dish was like leather,never again 👎👎

unbelievable, just this minute had to cancel a home delivery as they delivered to an address 5 mins away & with COVID in mind expected us to pick the food up from the address they delivered in error, you could not make it up.. who know who handled it & in what state?, total shambles

Just popped in when passing whilst looking for somewhere to eat whilst staying in Peterborough. Found the Staff very polite and helpful and the food of the highest quality, the restaurant was very clean and tidy and I have no hesitation awarding 5 stars.
