We have used Saffron for a few years and it has been super tasty. Unfortunately, the last couple of times just haven't been the same. The bread has suddenly become very dense, thick and almost undercooked. Today my chicken tikka didn't come with the usual salad or yogurt dressing. I love these parts and I really missed them. It was really disappointing as they are an integral part to the dish. I think we're going to try somewhere else now. Such a shame.

Please take care if you are vegetarian or vegan and are eating here. We were served chicken here. (meant to be paneer and it was in a coating so impossible to tell.) Lots of apologies from staff but that doesn't really help the upset. We specifically told our waiter when ordering that we were vegetarian and he repeated this back to us so we thought we had done our due diligence!

Went to this restaurant after reading decent reviews, firstly I was sat right by the door so when anybody came in I was hit with a freezing cold blast as it was very cold outside so I didn’t take my coat off. I ordered the sheek kebab with cheese for a starter and it came out sizzling and looked great but the taste was so bland. I waited a long time for my main, I ordered the Balti with egg fried rice and a plain naan. I asked the waiter if the balti was medium spiced and he said yes. It came out looking great again but zero spice not even a mild curry and again bland as anything, I told the waiter and he got me a new one this time it was very hot so looks like medium isn’t an option! Chef cannot be tasting the food as it’s bland as hell! Very rare you get a bad Indian but unfortunately this was one of them!

Booked a table last night, 24/08/20. The food was alright, but disappointed with the restaurant as there was no social distancing at all. the nearest table to us was about a metre away but the waiters passed through this space to serve the table along from us, and when they left they had to pass through this space also(as there was no other way out for them. The restaurant only seemed interested in making up for the closure as the place was packed with people, with tables upstairs filled also. Have been to this restaurant several times before lockdown but won't be going there again.

On arrival it felt they had forgotten our booking and was put upstairs where it was cold and had to move the tables together ourselves. There was one particular staff that was abrupt and rude and had no customer service skills. The seating was very uncomfortable, which resulted in me pulling my back out and have had to see a chiropractor for urgent treatment. The furnishing is very outdated and in desperate need of a refurbishment. We went on a Wednesday night for the set menu, but had to request this. However, the food was lovely, I won't be returning back in a hurry!

We have been coming to Saffron for takeaway curries for years and years and it has always been phenomenal...tasty and flavourful. The one we had last night was pretty disgusting to be honest. The lamb in the vindaloo tasted old and fatty...it took some carving to cut through it. Gross. The peppers in the chicken pran were slimy and horrible. Even the pilau rice was below par. We really didn’t enjoy it at all and ended up throwing a lot of it away. Is the place under new ownership/ new chef? It’s so different from the Saffron we used to know and love.

This is a little gem hidden away. It's a great place to take someone who doesn't know the area but you know they like a curry for a surprise because they will be totally amazed to find themselves A outside a cottage in the depths of a commercial area, B that the cottage is an Indian restaurant and C that the food is so good! Popadums are a must with the famous red dust! There are 3 more really good Indians in Patchway with equally good menus and food, but they don't have the 'Wow' factor that Saffron has!

Went for our date night, pre-booked a table for 2. When we got there, they didn't have a table so put us on their takeaway collection tables right by the door. There were other empty tables for 2 in the restaurant area, but we were declined and informed that take away service had finished at 7pm so we can have them, which is not true as they have takeaway all evening. I dined here a month ago, following on from a takeaway I had the week before, Although the restaurant was quiet, as I went just after the evening opening time, the Special Biriani I had was served promptly & was very tasty, I learned that the chef had been there for a few years, and the food was of the same high standard. Visited with friends on a weekday early evening for a booked table of 3 which I had tried to advise them needed to be increased to 5, but obviously they don’t answer the phone, there is no voicemail and they don’t pick up email so they hadn’t gotten the message. Nonetheless they were very accommodating and pulled two tables together, but that was essentially when the service stopped. We had drinks, poppadoms, starters all increasingly slow in arriving until we realised it had been over two and a half hours since we had sat down and our mains still hadn’t arrived - it wasn’t a staffing issue as many other tables had arrived, ordered, eaten and left again in that time. Two of our party had lengthy commutes still to do so ended up inhaling their food when it did finally arrive and having to rush off, which put a bit of a dampener on the whole evening.

This curry house is situated on a business park and as such I would think it is the opposite to most restaurants , as in it is probably busier in the week than on weekends , our taxi driver was unsure where to go , but we found it in the end , and I must say it's a little quirky for an Indian restaurant , not your typical style , it is set in what seem like an old barn that has been left in place, when all the office buildings were built around it , maybe it was listed or something , but it definitely seems out of place, but not in a bad way, Food was pretty good , some different things on the menu, service was rather unimpressive , and a bit strange at times , so the food was good enough to give it another go and see if things improve next time

There are many dishes not found on other Indian menus such as Chicken Tikka Piar, Honey Chicken etc but the old favourites Dansak. Madras and Biriani are there. The peshwari Naan and parathas are exceptionally good, and I would find it difficult to say there was any dish that we have tried that did not meet, or indeed exceed, our expectations. Our second visit to this lovely restaurant. Set next to the intersection between the M4 and M5 on the Northern edge of Bristol this is not a restaurant you will drive past as it is tucked away on a business park, it is however well worth the effort, it was the menu that initially attracted us to this establishment whilst on a weekend stay locally. It did not disappoint. Quirky building, looks like a converted barn inside with beams and part exposed stone walls. Service was good, friendly staff and the food was delicious. Fresh Poppadoms, tasty Shammi Kebab starter, Tender slow cooked chicken in a beautiful Naga sauce, my husband chose a vegetable dish and said it was the best he had ever had and we are seasoned regular Indian food eaters. Cold beer and lovely coffee to finish. Good quality food, expertly cooked and prepared, absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

Five of us visited on a Wednesday evening and enjoyed a good meal in pleasant surroundings. It obviously wasn’t the busiest time of the week but the atmosphere was good and it’s a relaxing dining area that i’ve visited many times before under the previous ownership. The food was good and the service was excellent. The wine list conjured up an excellent red for us and we finished the meal with liquor coffees of the highest quality (best i’ve had for a while - it’s suprising how many places can’t do them well). The location on a business park can feel a little soulless, but on the flip side there’s ample parking to be had. Although it may not stand out as one of my top 5 Indian restaurants in Bristol, I thoroughly recommend Saffron for a quality meal with good service.

Saffron is tucked away in the backend of an induatrial zone near the RAC tower off the M4/5 junction. The building pre-dates the park and looks like it may have once been an old barn or other. Decor is clean and tidy. The food is standard issue Indian fayre, all the favourites plus a raft of housr specials. I would say this was spiced for the western pallette and for me it could have had a bit more fragrancy and punch. However lets not forget the location. It maybe average but there ia not a massive amount of choice in Bradley Stoke. So if you are here or atayomg in the Hilton/Aztec then this makes a welcome change from the hotel standard issue.

We have used this restaurant as a takeaway for a few years. Generally the food is good but recently the rice has taken on the very dry texture of reheated rice which has put us off using them again. We were surprised to be charged for them, as they were inedible. The owner. Who we hadn't seen before was called and accused us of fabrication. I was polite, he was not. It's sad because we will never go there again. He was rude, aggressive, unpleasant and foot stomping...not the way I'd run my business. Went with a few friends after a recommendation. I'm not a great one for Indian food though I do like a bit of heat and spices but this I found rather bland and unappealing throughout. Not even sure I can put my finger on it but poor presentation and rather mild. (In all fairness I can't even remember what I had (it was 2 weeks ago) but it was recommended by a friend as not being too hot but that was obviously an understatement - the had hardly and heat to it at all.) Also thought the Staff a little surly - didn't want to engage and ordering a drink was hard work as I was constantly ignored - even when standing at the bar! Not a great experience I'm afraid.

Our first impressions of saffaron were very good . Prompt ordering of food at the table and the staff seemed extremely polite and professional. The started took around 40 minutes to arrive at the table I wouldn't say the my presentation of prawn on puree was the best I've seen . Prawns tasted chewy in my opinion. After another exceedingly long wait for our main course it eventually arrived . My saffaron mixed birayani was plenty full but just seemed bland . I've spent time in India and this just didn't seem to have much flavour balance . My husband ordered the mixed grill which comes with a jug of yoghurt sauce . The manager came over to our table and went are you not using that . We said no and he promptly gave it to another table next to us . After we asked for the bill but husband and I wanted to sit chat and relax before leaving the restaurant and it was our date night that we get little chance to have these days. But the manager was making it very clear that he wanted our table for another couple that walked through the door staff were hovering around our table as soon as we got up the table cloth was turned over table reset next people seated before we got through the door . When we looked at the clock in the car we had been at saffaron for 2hours 45 minutes just waiting for 2 courses disgusting really . I work in the trade and certainly don't like feeling pushed to leave the restaurant just to maximise on your evenings profit shame on you . Customers should be made to feel relaxed and enjoy the atmosphere around them .

I ordered online for my takeaway but opted to pay later (because you never know!).I ordered:1 x butter chicken1 x honey chicken2 x ricesome poppadoms & naan. Ok the price is a bit, oh dear, but then most curry houses charge about the same as this one. I asked for a pick up time, and when I turned up it was ready and waiting (which was a bit concerning as I wondered how long it was there for, but I presume the get it ready a tad earlier). It was warm, even though I had to drive back to Severn Beach with it, and the food is fantastic. There is a hell of a lot for your money so we had it for lunch the next day as well!I really recommend, as I've eaten IN the restaurant before too only once. I think it's a lovely curry house and really nice atmosphere.NEGATIVE - The guy behind the till took my payment and whacked it straight on contactless. I don't like paying by contactless due to the time it takes to come out of my bank. My only negative is that he didn't ask to do this, and just did it anyway. But that's minor details!

Visited on Saturday night, food was nice but after we had paid the bill we were told that someone was waiting for our table and were rushed out of the resturant when we still had half a pint of beer each left! I don't think we will be returning after this...

Decided to have a mid week curry and found ourselves at Saffron, the food was excellent. Highly recommend the prawn puree starter, also check out the chefs specials.

This used to be my local Indian restaurant but I moved away two years ago. It's now a 45 minute drive away but so good it's totally worth the trip. Try it, you won't regret it!

Had an amazing meal here on Saturday 15th October. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food of an excellent quality - this place is a hidden gem! The restaurant slowly filled up whilst we dined, which is great to see with a small, independent business. Can't wait to visit again!

We have been having take aways from Saffron for some 3 years and have always been very pleased with the quality of the food. The service has always been good and not stupidly expensive. However the last take away meal we had was pretty awful. I ordered a King Prawn Karahi which at £12.90 wasn't exactly cheap. My son had a Pathia Chicken. Sadly when it was collected the plastic bag was leaking yellow oil (ghee) which wasn't a good sign. Both curries were a complete let down. There were only a few King Prawns in a sort of brown gloop with oil running around the outside and this was supposed to be "Chef's Specialities". The Chicken Pathia was supposed to be "hot". It wasn't, it was mild and tasteless. Our Pilau rice was hard and nasty. Such a shame. Usually we really enjoy our Indian take aways from this restaurant but were left with a bad taste in our mouths and feeling we had wasted our money. Maybe it was a different chef on that night? Not sure if we'll go back again.

Went there as it was the closest to the office. Service was painfully slow as the 3 staff spent most of their time chatting or calling people on their mobiles. Food was ok overall. Onion bhaji was raw in the middle and the curry lacked flavour. There are better places in Bristol, but if you're in Bradley Stoke then this is your only option.

Been going in here for years and never been let down. House specials are fantastic but I have an overwhelming passion for the mixed grill every time. Staff are friendly and will go out of their way to please..great night out!

We have been customers since opening and where ever we eat in the world we use the saffrons chicken madras as the bench mark of a good Indian. This isn't a 'When the pubs chuck out' type of restaurant. this is for those who enjoy excellent quality freshly made Indian food in a welcoming atmosphere. so if you looking for cheap and piled high then this isn't for you.

I called at 5.30pm, the time it says they open on their website home page. Whoever answered was very rude! They then tried to call me back at 6pm. I had gone elsewhere. I only get take away from them as I find although the food is good, the staff are too attentive - interrupt conversations and ruin time with friends and family. Also lazy - we had a table that could access customers on two sides but insisted on leaning over. I will never go back!

Lush food, lovely setting and good staff :-)Can't really fault this place at all! The only problem is that it's a hidden treasure, I don't think it's advertised very well but word of mouth soon gets round!

Visited here for dinner and the venue was busy, service was a bit slow however attentive.Had a couple of dishes from the chief specialities but they were a little lacking in flavour and not very spicy, both dishes tasted quite similar. The chicken ginger had no taste of ginger and came with what I suspect was very thin fried bits of ginger on the top of the dish but it lacked taste, however other dishes for people in my party were enjoyed..Drinks are quite pricey especially for soft drinks

Had the most delicious, tangy curry from the fantastic India Palace yesterday (a Lamb Khyber - highly recommend!) This local restaurant is invaluable for our community. Thank you to all the team and look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic evening. So well looked after all evening. Delicious food. Accommodated the needs of the children first. Thank you so much .
