Early night takeaway collection for a family celebration. Greeting not the friendliest, in fact quite grumpy and instructed another member of staff on the phone not to deliver to Slimbridge because it was a caravan park (despite this being a regular tourist / visitor park so they missed out there) Our meal had barely any meat, was all sauce for main dishes so poor value for money and certainly no sharing! My biryani was bland…..just some tough lamb, peas and rice with the veg curry with it containing one piece of potato and the rest onions! Would not go here again……Dil Raj next door much better, and they’d throw in some free poppadoms for an order value of £60……this restaurant wouldn’t despite asking. First and last time I will order from here…….they need to work on attitude/customer service as well as ingredients!

Used this restaurant many times and it has been fine but this evening they missed two nans from my order and claim that I didn’t order any nans which was complete rubbish as they called me back to confirm the order. Very poor service, “ not our fault mate”

Samosas were cheap frozen supermarket ones and the prawns were tiny. Rest of food was good. Serving staff were great

Food generally of good quality, but the 4 onion bhajis were not cooked through. We had to put them in our air fryer.

Myself and my wife went down for a date evening to make use of the Wednesday buffet option. It's an absolutely fantastic restaurant, fantastic staff and great food.

This was easily the worst "curry" I've ever had. Every dish tasted the same - of nothing. Just a sort of tomato and onion slop with lumps of lamb so tough I thought i was on I'm A Celebrity. The dal was the same but with half a pound of onions in and hardly any lentils. Cauliflower undercooked. "Bombay Potatoes" were just potatoes, no discernable spices. In fact, think of all the spices you think should be in a curry and put "no" before it. No cumin, no coriander, no turmeric, no cardamom, no chilli, no flavour and definitely NOT a curry in any sense of the word. No idea why I even paid for it.

We’ve ordered from this place three to four times. Every time we ordered on the phone we’ve asked for vegan options and veganised dishes. Always order the same things really and they’ve always promised no animal products in our food. Today I called up to order our usual just to be told they’ve always put dairy in the dishes we’ve ordered. So over the last three times we’ve ordered we’ve been lied to. Awful customer service, won’t be coming here or getting take out again.

I came here with friends and we received a very warm welcome on a Friday evening. We enjoyed poppadoms and then I had the lamb saag which was tender and very flavoursome. I look forward to returning.

My two visitors decided to take me out for dinner on Saturday evening. They asked where we could go that is within walking distance of my home. I said "we have a choice of three restaurants, but if you fancy the best Indian meal on the planet, we had better visit the Bengal Lounge". As I expected, we were not disappointed, thank you.

How anyone can say the service or food is poor is beyond me unless they are the jealous competitor. During the last five years I have eaten at the Bengal Lounge with others about twelve times ie at least 24 meals. The food and service has been consistently impeccable.

You know what it's like. You're out of town and don't know which curry house to trust, and you know it'll never measure up to your favourite back home. Well the Bengal Lounge was definitely up to the job. I used the takeaway service for me and my Mrs and we weren't disappointed. Would've been nice if the cauliflower bhaji had been done with ghee but that's only my preference. Restaurant owner was nice and friendly and although we didn't eat in, the restaurant seemed clean and bright. Definitely recommend.

It was a friends Birthday so I suggested taking her the the Bengal Lounge because although I only go there a few times each year, the food is always excellent. Perfect poppadum’s followed by a lovely curry. I had the chicken Balti and she had a curry with pineapple. As usual, the service was excellent and the food was excellent.

**Avoid this restaurant if you have allergies** My boyfriend made a simple request to have an ingredient removed that he is allergic to and they did not do this, there were pieces of it visible in the dish. He accidentally ate some before he realised, and he is now ill. To make matters worse the waiter accused him of lying about his allergy, suggesting it was simply a preference. And the food was mediocre anyway.

A birthday treat and first time try for us with Bengal Lounge. Absolutely faultless, helpful phone staff,food was ist class, delivery spot on, can't praise enough, we will definitely be ordering again, thank you Bengal Lounge. Perfect.

Difficult to describe just how poor. Curries with no hint of real spices other than chilli......sauces resemble cheap supermarket gloopy tomatoey 'cook in' sauces. Dahl like water. Naan bread tasted stale and slightly rancid. No resemblance whatsoever to authentic Bangladeshi or other food from the Indian subcontinent. We threw it all away. Absolute disgrace.

I am a bit of a curry obsessive (don't judge) and I can honestly say without fear of accusations of hyperbole, that the BL produces the best curry within 30 miles of Durlsey - probably beyond - I just haven't searched further! Mo - the head waiter is unbelievably professional and knowledgeable about the customers and what they want. On one occassion the boss even drove to my house to deliver 2 naan breads they had forgot to pack!

This is not the first incident with this restraunt. Ordered food at opening time and 2 hours and a phone call later it arrived after having cancelled it and went elsewhere. During the phone call the staff were rude having said every excuse under the sun that they were "busy", "it's first come first serve", and that they "couldn't get through to their driver" once told that the order was made at the time of opening. No communication was made to say that the order would be delayed at all and I wouldn't be writing this if this were the first incident. There have been previous orders missing food, food being cold, and none of the orders have arrived on time unlike other restaurants. TLDR: Order elsewhere and you're more likely to get your food and get it by the estimated delivery time.

Brilliant food, friendly staff, 10/10. Don't usually have Chicken Chat as a starter but thought I'd have a change. Also chose the Chicken Vindaloo as main course. I love chilli and this was hot hot HOT, lovely.

Have been a regular customer at this restaurant for a few years now since visiting in Dec 2017. The food is truly excellent, always freshly prepared using best quality ingredients together with top quality service. I ordered a takeaway last night for my wife and I and we polished off the whole lot, and once again it was excellent food properly prepared and a culinary pleasure. We enjoyed it so much I called the restaurant back to complement them on wonderful meal - again! Highly recommended!

Visited the Bengal Lounge for the first time for Takeaway since kick down. Not been here before so we were interested to see if it was any good. Had a very nice meal and suitably impressed. I would make one suggestion and that was the 2 dishes we had did not really taste to different but apart from that it was very nice. I think the choice of food will be different next time to try and see what their hot dishes are like. Very friendly staff and very welcoming. I would like to see what this place is like after lock down is over and visiting the actual restaurant itself.

They say there is a good Indian Restaurant in Dursley ... THIS IS NOT IT !!! The people are nice and the service good ... BUT THE FOOD very inconsistent and average to poor. Some things were just OK ... but most was overcooked and underspiced ... chilli powder being dominant and to the exclusion and depth of flavour of many other options. Chicken dishes were OK but the lamb dry and overcooked. There is something basically wrong here and it is looking like being very close to those doing the preparation and cooking.

Had a takeaway on a Friday night, had a bit of man flu so just wanted to eat in my own home. Food was superb Sheek Kebab, Chicken Jalfrezi etc etc. All cooked to a very good standard. Service was good although not as fast as in the past due to the high amount of orders that were going through but it was worth the extra few mins wait. Would I use again, you bet.

We knew it was going to be a long wait. Told 1 hour but ended up 1 hrs 40 mins. Food cold, all tastes the same, really really disappointing. Will not be making a return order.

Had a delivery from here recently and it was amazing. Prompt and absolutely piping hot. It was very well presented and delicious. Service slightly unprofessional but the food was superb.

Had an absolutely amazing meal tonight at the Bengal Lounge. First visit and certainly won't be the last. Food cooked to perfection. Staff courteous and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere and totally unrushed. We will definitely return. Thank you Bengal for making our anniversary even more special.

Have had a take away from here countless times. Both collection and delivery! Food is always piping hot and full of flavour. Malai Chicken is to die for! The staff are always very friendly. Collect and you get 20% off. We must come in and try the dine in experience.

Visited on a few days holiday. Had one of the best curry's ever. Plentiful and delicious.I had the prawn Dansak which had a hot kick to it. Service was quick although I went at a quiet time.

I eat at this Indian once or twice a month, always consistently good food. Tonight I had the chicken tikka makhani with egg rice, lovely curry very mild, but full of flavour, buttery sauce with garlic background, beautiful! I'm a hot head too who normally won't eat mild dishes because I get bored half way into it! Speaking of hot currys there chicken/lamb Naga curry has a lovely kick to it, takes u on a great journey! I would highly recommend this restaurant to eat in or takeaway to everyone.

Have been using since its makeover and name change from Real Spice. Have dined in but we mainly use the takeaway facility (only because i struggle to eat the quantity and can put leftovers toward another meal). Decor is very good, staff are friendly and address me by name upon collection and the food is excellent. Almost always get recognised on the phone when ordering which puts a smile on my face. Thorougly recommended.

Absolutely disgusting!! The worst curry I have ever had, it tasted a couple of days old and had a horrible smell with a filmy pastey taste to it . I rang up to complain to give them the benefit of the doubt to have abuse shouted down the phone My husband ended up taking the curry back to the restaurant!!! Awful food awful service will never again order from here

We have visited Bengal Lounge several times before. The surroundings and service are good. However, the food does not seem have the "authentic" flare of better Indian Restaurants. It is what it is ... a local restaurant that is suitable for a casual meal.

We went here for our anniversary and as soon as we walked in we were greeted and shown our table. It was clean friendly and the food was outstanding. I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

4 of us went here for a meal, I had previously been and it was AWESOME! The customer service provided by a middle-aged gentleman was superb and the food was the best Indian I have so far tasted, so I recommended it to a couple of other friends. We walked in to be taken to a table by an older "gentleman". We ordered our drinks and waited...and waited...and waited. The Restaurant wasn't busy only 4 other tables occupied and our drinks were poured but no-one brought them to the table. Whilst we were waiting, the older gentleman moved a couple who were part of a bigger table whilst they were trying to eat their food. He asked to change their table for a smaller one to "make a bigger walkway for the bigger people" then pointed at our table. Myself and my friend who are bigger girls felt totally humiliated! We walked through the walkway absolutely fine, with plenty of room! But for him to point at us and embarrass us like that was very disrespectful and very unprofessional. Tje group of us suffer with anxiety and we have very low self confidence, we dont go out that much and we hate trying new places out of fear, and here our fears became reality. The man himself wasn't exactly slim, how would he feel if he were in our situation? We got up and walked out. He couldn't even ask us what was wrong! And our drinks were still sat on the side!!! We left and went across the road to La Toscana and we were made to feel so welcome after this upsetting experience! I will NEVER step foot in Bengal Lounge again! Which is a shame as the other staff are lovely and the food is top notch! It's a good place to go only if you are slim and can cope with a lengthy wait!

Honestly the best Indian I've ever had! Recently moving to Dursley from Bristol I was missing out on my monthly takeaway. I gave this place a try and it was amazing! Couldn't recommend it more!

Having been without electricity due to a weather driven power cut of the road I popped in to the Bengal House for dinner and yet again everything was perfect. Excellent poppadoms and an excellent Balti. I am working my way through their curry's, I have yet to discover one that is not excellent.

Nos trasladamos a Dursley hace 2 años y la primera prioridad es para probar los diferentes restaurantes indios. Bien el Bengal Lounge llegó arriba. Primero la gente que servimos son fabulosos, con una gran bienvenida cálida, excelente servicio y muy útil si quieres probar algo nuevo.

Mi familia y yo fuimos una noche de sábado, principalmente porque me gusta el pescado y tienen unos platos de pescado - algunas de las cuales ni siquiera implican salmón para cambiar. La primera impresión es la iluminación, por desgracia me recordaba a uno de esos de luz azul, no volar comercial mata mosquitos eléctricos en todo apropiada para una noche relajada, pero no importa. El personal es acogedor, que siempre es una ventaja. Nos llevaron a nuestra mesa enseguida, pero no tomó ninguna orden para bebidas en el tiempo. Esto resultó ser un poco de espera pero estaban bastante llenos. El menú es variado y tiene algunos platos diferentes, aparte de la normal que ha venido a esperar de un restaurante indio que fue un cambio refrescante. Finalmente las bebidas vino y pedimos unos poppadums y debo decir que los acompañamientos son muy bonitas y el poppadums bonitas y frescas. Tuvimos que esperar algún tiempo para nuestros pedidos, pero eso está mal, no íbamos en cualquier lugar, sin embargo, era bastante lento. Cuando los platos llegaron fueron bien caliente y, en general, es muy buena. Me gustó especialmente el curry de pescado. Mi hijo tenía un pollo tikka, no estoy seguro de lo que hacen al pollo que terminan en la forma que llegó, parecía bastante procesados si soy honesto, nunca he visto el pollo que forma antes, pero no importa. El plato de cordero mi marido era buena. En general fue una noche bastante buena, pero el servicio era muy lento. Podrían hacer con rápido y también que deshacerse de esa iluminación horrible que no uno favorece. Estoy calificar el servicio como pobre, no porque el personal, que era preciosa, pero porque era muy lento.

Mi hija fue para una comida con amigos, aquí la última noche. El camarero era muy groseros con cuatro años de 16 chicas para una comida agradable en cumpleaños aquí. La comida era asquerosa, 3 se puso enferma 1 estaba enfermo toda la noche. Para rematar cuando mi hija pagué la cuenta, el camarero mantuvo el cambio y no le daría a ellos.

Lovely experience as we ordered a takeaway earlier on in the evening and stayed in for a couple of drinks!

We were the only couple in the restaurant when we arrived early evening. It soon filled up and had a lively atmosphere. Staff were attentive but not intrusive & happy for us to wait between courses. The food is delicious … really, I cannot fault it, so flavoursome, a nice balance between meat and sauce, side dishes, rice, naan everything. We are making this a bit of a habit! Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we over ordered, this wasn't a problem when we asked for the rest to be boxed up to take away.

Too many Indian restaurants produce dishes which often look and taste remarkably similar, except for the amount of fire. Every dish we've tasted at the Bengal Lounge is unique and the flavours actually reflect what it says on the menu - always absolutely delicious. Good, soft lighting and white table cloths make for a great atmosphere and the service is always excellent and personal - highly recommended!
