Rajdoot in Stroud

Rajdoot was excellent - plenty of options, many of which I hadn't seen before! Super tasty, well priced, quick service, what more could you want?

Waited over 2 half hours for delivery. Food cold. Repeated lies on phone ref arrival time (and promise of ‘extras’ added to order to compensate - another bare faced lie as none were in bag), then driver couldn’t find address. Total disgrace. My 30 year association with this place has now ended.

Mega fail with delivery...(Didn't bother) Utterly appalling customer service. Absolutely rude and overly aggressive owner. Simply cancelled our order because they couldn't find the location despite giving what3words, but told their technology didn't support such modern applications. All ok as McDonalds managed to find us no problem. Snooze you lose!

I am a regular! I have been eating Rajdoot for over 10 years and order my regular sides and mains. The food is excellent and generally order takeaway. It's our family favourite and definitely part of our rich life! We love the food at Rajdoot!

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service, very attentive. Great food. Unfortunately the contactless wasn't working on their card machine, so my friend had to pay (I only had my phone with me).

As an Indian, I'm saying Rajdoot is the best Indian restaurant in Gloucestershire. It's like a secret treasure, hidden away. The food tastes just like the meals cooked at home in India. Every bite of their curry reminds me of home. Rajdoot cares about making real Indian food and giving good service. If you want to taste real Indian flavors, Rajdoot is the place to go.

I ordered £62 worth of food from here and when we received it, it was completely cold. I am a regular customer and this was 2nd time I have received inedible food as I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time as anyone can have an off night. But as this was the 2nd time and I had spent so much money I called them. Whoever I spoke to was very apologetic and said he knew I was a valued regular customer and would sort a refund out for me. I am still waiting over a week later. Its a shame as I really like like them.

What a let down, the place is modern and looks nice but looks are deceiving, the staff are pleasant but not much interaction with the guest.The food was nothing short of disgusting we tried to eat the meal but gave up and left it ruined are evening. I ordered a Chicken Rogan it was more like tomato soup with large uncut lumps of chicken. My wife ordered Chicken shashlik it wasn't anything like what was ordered and we have ordered this meal in other outlets many times. I enclose a photo of the food and a picture of what it should be like. My advice avoid this place if you really like Indian food.

Arrived at 8 pm- after a couple of minutes told to make our order as it was a Saturday (I had just enough time to go the toilet and return). Brash waiter mentioned time 2 further times ! In at 8 out by 9. Would not go back. Have never been told to hurry up before and clearly focused upon themselves and not the restaurant attendees. Mark and Ann

Very late and very cold. Took 2 hours and 20 mins to arrive when it said it would be 45 mins on their website. And naturally then the food was cold, not even warm. They only had one driver on they explained when I rang them at 1hr 30mins and then 2hrs 10 mins and got the same response from them and no surity or idea where our food was or really who long it would be. Won't be doing that again!

I didn’t enjoy this experience. The food was very bland, oily and mainly consisting of fried onions … the dips for the poppadoms were all straight out of a jar. None of them were made in the restaurant . The naan bread was tasty but that was the only food item we have enjoyed. I didn’t like the starter, nor the main. The non alcoholic drink options are very limited, there is no drinks menu and when I ordered tap water , they forgot to bring me any…. The customer service was good, apart from forgetting my tap water. Would not recommend the food.

Couldn't fault this restaurant, genuinely amazing food and welcoming service, one of the best Indian meals I've had.

The place was extremely clean and exquisite and beautiful decor, we started the meal off with fresh large puppodums with a number of different sauces on the side. When our curry’s came i around I was extremely pleased not only did it taste delicious but it was also eye candy!! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough 100 out of 10!!

A rather disappointing meal. I have eaten here many times in the past but felt the standards had fallen this time. The greeting was warm and friendly as always. The service was swift as we were the only people in the restaurant....a little too quick to clear away plates after our starter as 2 of our group were still eating so had to hold onto their plates. I'm not sure if it is a cultural thing but one of the staff could be heard snorting every 5 minutes or so throughout the meal. To hear someone snorting up through his nose every few minutes was awful...had it not been a birthday meal we would have left as it is a disgusting sound to hear throughout a meal!! The food was mixed. The vegetable biryani was flavoursome but the vegetable dhansak was lacking in any flavour other than heat!! We brought this to the attention of the staff who said they would bring another out in a few minutes. In 3-4 minutes another came tasting exactly the same. It is impossible to cook a fresh one in 3 minutes so it looks like we were given more of the same. It was left uneaten as it was tasteless...sadly we had to pay for it. The naan bread was tasty but swimming in oil...the oil sat in a pool in the middle of the bread. We hoped pudding might save the meal but we were brought one dessert menu and told that they only had 3 things on the menu..... no kulfi icecream which we had hoped for....we paid and left. Such a disappointing but expensive meal, sadly after many years of going here we will not be returning. The food wasn't great but the constant snorting from one member of staff made us feel sick.

We have known this restaurant for some time and had some lovely food here. When we saw they were using justeat we decided to have our wedding anniversary meal delivered. Order was placed at 7pm due to arrive by 8.15pm. By 9pm still no delivery so I called the restaurant and was told to wait another 5 minutes and was then hung up on.. After this my husband called them to which they said it would be a further 30 minutes. We said it was too late and requested our money back. They said no because it was through just eat. After several phone calls as they kept hanging up on my husband, I drove to the restaurant to get a refund. The attitude of the staff is some of the worst I have come across. They were condescending and belittling of me. I refused to leave until I got my money back, which eventually they did. Their customer service is such a let down to what is such lovely food. If you don't care about customer care and how your spoken to then this is the place for you, however if you want your food on time, an apology and just general good manners and satisfaction I recommend either of the other Indian restaurants on the street to dine in or Indian Garden on just eat, to which I won't stray from again. I hope the staff listened to what I had to say about how they treat their customers, but I have a feeling they won't care.

Rajdoot have a brand new menu. It is HUGE and very imaginative and impressive. Absolutely one of the very best Asian restaurants in the UK. Babu stays there to act as kingpin manager/waiter, offering first class service. Outstanding food.......A pleasure to go to...Thank you, Rajdoot! Peter

Awful experience, ordered starters, plates took 45 minutes to be cleared, after also ordering main dishes—after 1 hour post ordering I was told one of the dishes wasn’t available with no communication prior to this. Asked to speak to the manager and they walked away from me, not listening or acknowledging me on my complaint. Would not recommended *reply to response* 06/02/23 We had raised the complaint to the manager, who walked away from me when I was speaking to him, not once, twice. I tried to speak to others but proceeded to be ignored several times. We all walked out disgusted in the service we recieved

Brilliant food,very good services

Have been going to the Rajdoot for years, our takeaway this week was absolutely delicious! We had a range of vegetarian curries, rice and side dishes and all of it tasted unique. Excellent service, Babu is always friendly and helpful. Thank you! The best Indian restaurant in town.

Food was good, service soooo slow, had to wait an hour to give our order. Draught beer tasted watered down.

Cancelled my delivery after waiting over an hour. Was saying that they were due to arrive in 10 mins then just cancelled. disgusting service, just disgusting. Why accept the order in the first place????

Ordered food through just eat had not come within the given time called the restaurant only to be told food was on its way, 45 mins later still not arrived and only live less than 10 mins away from restaurant, called them back asking for a refund only to be told that had to ask just eat, absolutely rubbish customer service no apology whatsoever!!!! Steer clear if you are hungry...

Place was lovely & clean. Food was very tasty. Waiting time & service from entering at 6:20pm to ordering meal & food arriving 7:55pm disgraceful. Attitude of head of house server left a sour taste for me. He wanted us to order our meal before we had time to look at their extensive menu. When he did finally return to take our order, he abruptly said "You weren't ready when I asked before" That was over an hour earlier. I won't be going back.

The food was delicious. The service wasn't. We were asked before we could look at their extensive menu, what we wanted. When we were ready we were told they'd be back in 2 minutes. (That happened twice) on the third time the waiter said, rather abruptly, "I asked you before and you said you weren't ready" Had it just have been the two of us, we would have walked out.

Very enjoyable pre-movie dinner for two. The recommended dishes were delicious, service was perfect and food came quickly. Also not too busy on Sunday evening. Definitely will go again for a longer dinner!

Let's be honest here, Rajdoot is the longest serving Indian in stroud, there is a reason for that. The food is by far the best in stroud. The restaurant is absolutely spotless The staff couldn't do enough for you. I've been using Radjoot for over 15 years. Yes of course I've tried the others as we all sometimes like to have a change but once tried you realise you already have the best one in the line up. Thanks guys for always serving the best food. 5☆

Shocking service ! Dummy waiters, not the place it was!!

We ordered a delivery from the Rajdoot. It was the tastiest curry we've ever had. We went for a chicken buna, which was flavoursome, the chicken tender and tasted great. Can't wait for our next curry.

Used to be the best curry house in Stroud! 2 meals delivered by Uber eats. Nothing like anything ever tastes before, really sour and curdled looking. Same sauce on 2 different dishes. Not at all good 😕

Food was good, service was shocking(the waiter we had was really rude and unprofessional). Was very disappointed. Very claustrophobic and if you get a seat by the kitchen all you can hear is the waiters smacking the food trolley against the doors constantly. Will never be going back here again.

By far the best Indian in town .

Excellent curry, that I always get when in Stroud. It's better than any curry house that I've had in Bristol! Edit: Original review was posted 5 years ago. Unfortunately, over the years the service has gotten sloppier and sloppier and now I do not go here as I find the staff to be sometimes quite rude and treat regular customers for granted. I now frequent the nearby Zeera which is quite good.

I am so dissolved with our order. We collected in the time frame given (25 mins) got home with our curry...stone cold, had to microwave our dinner! Tikka tastes like a load of curry paste has been thrown in. Our cheese nanns are stone cold and tough as hell to pull apart. For an order which was £27 I am gutted and so disappointed, will not be returning!!

Food always top quality. Been going there for yrs never had any problems. Best Indian in Stroud in my opinion

Visité Rajdoot para comer esta noche. El personal fue muy acogedor y atento. Decoración moderna y muy limpia. Buena variedad para elegir, algunos de los viejos favoritos y algunos platos especiales. La comida estaba caliente y sabrosa. Tuve el rashwalla que era encantador. Me habían dicho que era uno de los favoritos de la casa. Puedo ver porque. Los poppadoms estaban crujientes y ligeros. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra visita y si volvemos a estar en la zona, definitivamente volveremos.

El curry más caro y peor de Stroud. Como comerse un bocado de agua de mar al curry. Pedí un dansak, lo que obtuve fue la peor comida para llevar en 30 años. Después de un par de bocados fue a la basura. 17. 50 por un pollo dansak, pollo tikka, arroz pilau y popadum. Dos bocados y se fue a la basura. Vaya al Balti Spice de al lado, comida mucho mejor y más barata.

Wow what a disappointment! That's probably the most expensive and the worst curry I've had in Stroud. I ordered a chicken tikka dansak however the dish couldn't have been further from the truth. Unbelievable amount of salt, no taste just heat and salt with the odd bit of pineapple, threw it in the bin absolutely horrible. First & definitely the last time I would eat there...horrible

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Stroud. Was keen to get a takeaway yesterday. Happened to check the food hygiene rating and found it to have a very disappointing score of 'one' - issued 23rd Jan 2020 by Stroud District Council. Used to be a five. What's gone wrong? Have to say this straight away put me off getting food from there. I only post this to warn people. I don't routinely check food hygiene ratings; how many of us do? Best to be aware though. C'mon Radjoot team, you can do better than this!

Food was good but maybe not as good as it has been in the past - definately less meat. Drinks order took a long time.

As always, highly satisfied with our meal!! All dishes are full of taste and are absolutely amazing! The service is great as everyone is also so friendly!! Wouldn’t go to any other Indian restaurant!!

I’ve just paid £7.50 for two “portions” of samosas. They were literally 1 inch wide with nothing inside. I received one each portion, £7.50 for two tiny tastless samosas. Absolutely criminal. Rest of the curry bang average.

Stroud is pretty dead ion Sunday evening. This was about the only place we could find that was open, so they should get a bonus point for that. That siad, if only one palce is open you want it to serve good food and this does.Clearly the reason almost all the restaurants are closed is that the people of Stroud don't go out much on Sunday evening, we were the only ones there at 7.30. All the better - attentive staff and no noise from other patrons!

I would without hesitation HIGHLY recommend Rajdoot for an outstandingly delicious culinary treat!!! I gave it 5 stars in spite of their customer service because the food was simply amazing!Their customer service was not quite up to my expectations but it was tolerable. I actually felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience... however the food was beyond my expectations and diminished their borderline customer service.Three of us tried three different items and we were ALL pleased!I had the Tropical Handi, my friends had the Ajwani Salmon and the Lamb Tikka Mosalla and we were all very happy with our choices. I have to say that Rajdoot’s Chefs Special Tandoori Tropical Handi will be the standard by which all others will be judged by me from this day forward! Go ahead, if your anywhere close, give it a try!!!

Encontré al gerente excepcionalmente grosero, dándole la espalda y alejándose cuando le preguntamos cortésmente.Esta es la segunda vez que encontramos que este restaurante es así, irónicamente, el restaurante Balti de al lado no podría ser mejor y su comida era buena para empezar.Evita este lugar si tienes una opción

Vine aquí durante un ajetreado sábado por la noche, no reservé, pero quizás deberíamos haberlo hecho. Sin embargo, el servicio fue perfecto, la comida llegó en media hora, que era razonable. Tengo el Bhuna y mi compañero el picante jalfrezi. Las cervezas eran agradables aunque un poco caras. Llegamos a 30 en todo lo que pensamos que era bastante buena relación calidad-precio en comparación con los restaurantes de la zona.

We had a rather odd meal here, including a dish that came with wotsits scattered on top, and one that had some type of jelly in it. After eating here, my husband suffered a very upset stomach.

Mediocre food... Shockingly bad service. Booked a table for four and asked to be seated at the front rather than in the booths. When we arrived there was a table free but we were told they were very busy and we were seated at the back. The tiny booths make it feel like you're on a train (and not a classy one!), and there is not enough room to fit four main dishes let alone any side orders. Also the waiter was passing us hot dishes as he could not reach the far side properly. Waiter offered no help with choosing dishes even though one member of the party was undecided, and even when asked to give us five minutes he walked away and came straight back. He also refused to take drink orders as that was a different waiter's job. When the food arrived, empty bottles were left on an already cluttered table even when we asked for them to be cleared. Food was at best mediocre, and overpriced. Had to ask for ice as the bottled beers were not cold. The service was just so unfriendly. And to top it all, the table we had asked for remained empty all night!! Have been to Rajdoot many times over the years, but never again. Will be going to The Passage To India in Nailsworth from now on where the waiters smile and the food is stunning.

The food is fine and there is a good choice but when I went with a friend recently when the place was nearly empty we were ushered to a very public table where staff were going in and out to kitchen so it was not very relaxing. But much worse was that the oldest of the staff stood very close to the table and kept watching us. Perhaps we weren't eating in the correct way or he thought we would leave without paying. Whatever, it was very unpleasant and I won't go back.

Me and my partner both had really good meals, excellent service as well. Have eaten at many Indian restaurants, many times in England even, and the food is usually good but not often great like we had at Rajdoot.

All of our Currys tasted the same (not very nice). Service was good untill we asked to take away our left overs and they dumped a cartoon and bag on the table for us to do it ourselves.

Food was bad and the service was even worse... they wrongly described a dish and then blamed us for sending it back. Wow... bad service.

Food is good but not like India. When I had discussion most of staff was from Bangladesh. Even though seat was available but waiter told its my hotel wherever I say there only you need to sit.

Mushroom rice was tinned mushrooms and hard peas in yellow rice yuk Chicken dupiazza was tasteless sauce and pre cooked chicken which was dry and horrible Staff kept asking if you want drinks while waiting for take away Chicken tikka starter was tasteless Used to be a good restaurant but won't be going again AVOID

Cuando llegamos a casa para descubrir que solo nos dieron un plato de acompañamiento en lugar de un plato principal, así que llamamos para decir que nos decepcionó. Having gone to the Pavilion as our local for the better part of a year we finally branched out to the Rajdoot one day and haven't looked back. Of the many times we've been either to eat in or takeaway, there's only been one disappointing meal which is saying a lot. A better selection of vegetarian mains than most places, there's an exciting something for all dietary requirements. The staff are lovely and friendly with good service. Definitely a must go!

Family favourite! Jalfrezi, bul-bul, all delicious, but the best bits are the matter paneer and brinjal bhaji, veg curries to swoon over.

Took our teens here on the spur of the moment and there are plenty of tables but always busy compared to the restaurant next door. Found the curries lovely and tasty and always great service.

The food here tastes amazing. It's more expensive than a lot of other Indian restaurants, but it really is worth paying the extra if you can afford to. It's probably a good thing they don't deliver where I live otherwise I'd be ordering every week.

I have been using the Rajdoot for many years and found Baboo and his staff friendly and efficient. Still friendly but now very inefficient - the last 3 takeaways I've had contained one incorrect main course and to top tonight's meal off the chicken used was frozen which was rubbery in texture and clearly not fresh. One regular customer who will now be seeking an alternative Indian restaurant.

With the restaurant declaring itself as a tandoori restaurant, I decided to go for the tandoori Thali, despite numerous dishes in the menu which I would've to have tried. (next time). The tandoori was fantastic and didn't disappoint. Extremely tasty, well marinated and presented nicely on a Thali plate with salad, naan bread and rice. The meat was tender and succulent.

Nos levantamos de Cornualles para el fin de semana visitando a la familia y decidimos caminar hacia la ciudad desde nuestro hotel ya que estaba nevando. Tomé un par de cervezas en la ciudad y luego nos dirigimos hacia el Rajdoot.

Visited on a busy Saturday night in the lead up to Christmas. Place had a good atmosphere and was not too loud. Food exquisite, chicken Bhuna was very nice and the beer cold and refreshing.

Dirigido aquí por un capricho después de ir al cine. Nos sorprendió gratamente. Muy buen servicio a pesar de que el restaurante está ocupado. Excelentes opciones vegetarianas además de algunos nuevos curries para elegir, de los que no había oído hablar antes, ¡lo cual siempre es una ventaja! Buena atención al sabor y uso de las especias, realmente delicioso. ¡Ojalá pudiera recordar el nombre del curry que probamos! Volveremos. El mejor restaurante indio en Stroud para nosotros.
