we have been going here for years now nothing is too much trouble service good and the owner and his team are lovely thanks for looking after us all this time

The Redfort in Overton is outstanding. The flavours are incredible and am gradually working my way through the menu. Currently chicken tikka biryani is topping the list but rezala is a close second.

We had an excellent meal. The staff were very attentive and very friendly. Quality of the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. It's just a shame we were only visiting the area and live too far away to come here regularly. Can't praise this restaurant enough.

Was lied to about getting a tabel, was told to wait half an hour so we did outside at that too and then when we went in they claimed he said no tables available, very disappointed as have been a regular until now

This place is brilliant. Lovely people and always great food. We are spoilt for choice in Overton for places to eat but we still eat at the Redfort regularly. Takeaway or eating-in makes no difference to the quality of the food. Always good, always hot and always served with a smile. You'd have to go a long way to beat this place.

Last night was our first visit since the first lockdown .....We just needed some normality...and a nice curry !!!Staff wore masks and tables were well spaced out ...we felt relaxed and comfortable ....Food as always was great enjoyed with some lovely recommended Rose .. Dhan`yabada ..

The food was just wonderful with a lovely warm welcome and very accommodating with a change of our original booking. Garlic rice was incredible!

I phoned for a table but was told children were not allowed in this restaurant because of Covid 19. I did try to explain children were the least at risk but he said they had too many people going in and out. It is a shame as I had heard it was a really nice restaurant.

Due to the pandemic we have not been able to enjoy a meal at our favourite Indian restaurant but last night we headed back after way too long! Excellent food and service, tables socially distanced and staff are wearing masks. Excellent value and 25% discount on food until end of September 2020. Book a table and go as soon as you can you will be impressed.

I have had takeaways and eaten in on a number of occasions over the years and have never had a fault, excellent customer service and always friendly. Would highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Amazing curries, the food really was fantastic. brilliant staff. Couldn’t fault it. Can’t wait to go back 😀

Walked out. Totally unacceptable not to have hand wash in a toilet (especially in these times). Mens toilet closed. Appalling.

Food was watery, staff tried to blame me.I called up and they were Saying they will replace it, yet when I got there they were not intending to re make any rice with my dishes. Just an overall waste of 2 journeys. Definitely won’t be going back.

I’ve not had any food from here for a few years. Once upon a time, it was ok. I went quite a bit in the early to mid 1990’s. It always took ages for your food to arrive but, it was reasonably good when it arrived. I was told they only had a very small kitchen and if the restaurant was full, you had to wait. It seemed more like an opportunity to sell you more booze!This evening, I got a takeaway, it was very poor. I asked for a Chicken Shashlik, a Cauliflower Bajeeand a Garlic Naan. The Shashlik in my mind is a skewer with chicken breast, onions and capsicums(red and green peppers). What I call a dry dish.I did get the ingredients I expected, but in a bland reddish sauce, it was greasy, tasteless and zero spices.The cauliflower was quite plentiful, but it was horribly overcooked. It was in a sauce that was like baby food and looked akin to what ends up the the baby’s nappy, after eating that baby food. it also tasted completely bland. The Naan was a flabby, thick, doughy affair that needed to be left in the Tandoor for a good bit longer, and maybe put some more garlic inside, so you could taste it.All in all, thoroughly disappointing.When you Google the restaurant, it says in their ad. Something like, “the best Tandoori restaurant in the area” “In that Street” maybe closer to the mark.Too be fair, the restaurant has lasted a long time, so it must be well liked. Me, I won’t be darkening their doorstep again. I’ve added a picture of how Chicken Shashlik should look.

Went here with friends. I ordered a chicken jalfrezi, i have had much better in the Basingstoke area. Chicken was an odd texture, was a bit like a ready meal.I won’t be rushing back although much better than the really salty meal I had on my last visit.Reasonably priced.

Food was good although I don't think the menu has changed in nearly 20 years . But what really peeved me was to be charged £13 for popadoms when we spent nearly £200 ...

Booked a table whilst stopping locally, good warm starters, followed by large main portions, whilst my balti was a little salty enjoyed the meal. Very popular venue, well supported by regular customers and as we arrived at opening time it indicated its popularity in the location. Also a number of customers collecting takeaways as well. Best to book to confirm availability, price wise reasonable for area and we certainly pay as much in our local Indian in Solihull, puddings expensive for ice cream but this is usually the case.

Took my wife for a meal as we were staying local for a few days, I lived in Overton for 5 years back in the 70's and often had a meal at Redfort, after some initial confusion with our food order which was sorted quickly and without any fuss, we were served a superb meal and service was excellent. Recommended to friends and we will visit again when we are next in the area.

Arrived early evening on a Tuesday without a booking and there were already a number of diners seated - an encouraging sign.The place is clean and comfortable, but not the most atmospheric restaurant I've ever been in. Service was pleasant and efficient, but the real star was the food which was superb and really good value too.Judging by the way in which many diners and takeaway customers were greeted, they get a good deal of repeat business which, based on our experience, is well-deserved.Recommended.

We booked a table for 7pm on 9th August. We arrived a few minutes early and were shown to our seats. We then waited for twenty minutes for our order to be taken and another forty minutes for the food to arrive. When it failed to arrive we got up to leave. The owner rushed over, very apologetic about the delay which he said was caused by how busy they were. He implored us to remain saying the food would soon be ready. After 15 minutes our starters were served.In the meantime people queueing for take aways got their orders within 10 to 15 minutes and were even given a free drink while they waited.There were two other tables near us (one of 8 and the other of 10) who also had long waits for their orders to be taken and their food to arrive - and they were frustrated as well.The food when it did turn up was very good, ample portions, hot and very tasty, but people wishing to eat in the restaurent should not have to wait for so long just so that take away customers get served quickly.There are plenty of good Indian restaurents in the area, so we will be eating elsewhere in future.

Only staying in the area for one night and we fancied a curry. Found the Redfort Tandoori on Google and glad we gave it a try. Excellent flavour and plenty of chicken in both our dishes. Would go again.

Visited this evening for family birthday haven’t been for years. Really lovely. Staff friendly and great with the children showing how hot the hot plates were with specks of water so they would understand not to touch them! Will def visit again kids loved it

Eat here pretty much every weekend, never had a bad meal in the three years we have been going here. Always welcomed with a smile, always have great service, always get a handshake and thanked for our business when we leave.

Strange place. Sometimes you go in to collect your meal and it’s Overly friendly almost to the extent of awkward. Other times you go in and you would think you have just had a #### on their carpet. Really unfriendly.

I'd only been here once before and that was years ago, yet when I arrived this time I was welcomed as if I was a regular! The staff were very friendly right from the start and their service was excellent. The food itself was absolutely delicious and I left the restaurant very full and very happy.

We visited this resturant having left another because they had no food left and we were pretty annoyed. From our arrival we were treated as valued customers, the service was great and the food top class. I would highly recommend visiting. Great find.

Absolutely amazing food! Best curry I've ever had! Never tried the garlic rice before but SO glad I did! Staff were very attentive too.

After a little thought poor has just won the day. From outside the restaurant looks very nice the initial reason we were enticed in apart from being hungry and the local pub was not serving food (owners on holiday).

Had a takeaway from this restaurant and was very impressed. Everything we ordered was delicious and spiced beautifully.

Food was ok but the waiters really let the place down. What ever you do don't ask for tap water with your meal even if you have other alcoholic drinks as well. Certainly won't be back in a hurry

When staying with friends who live near Overton we often have a take away from the Redfort, but this time I suggested we ate at the restaurant. Clearly there is no difference in the excellent quality of food whether you're eating in or taking away, but as you don't then have to drive home perhaps it's just that little bit fresher and beautifully presented. Anyway, I can thoroughly recommend the Redfort for quality, ambiance and the staff who are always so friendly and accommodating. We had the most excellent meal.

Has been for years ... & particularly worth noting they have always been VERY understanding and accommodating about our daughter's nut allergy.. cant praise the tam enough.

We were staying in the Blackwood Forest lodges to celebrate a family members 60th birthday a total of 12 of us. We found this on Trip Advisor and decided to try it. We phoned through our order and told it would be 30/35 minutes but to come along and have drink with them. We were met at the bar by the Restaurant Manager and asked what we would like to drink and given a seat. The food wasn't ready by the time we had finished so we were given another one. The food was ready only a couple of minutes later but we were told no need to rush just finish our drinks. When we were ready they carried the food to the door and gave us a free bottle of coke. We cannot speak highly enough about the staff but the quality of the food was on another level. We had chicken tikka, chicken masala, lamb rogan josh, pilau rice, onion bhajees, Bombay potatoes, popadoms and naan breads. We all agreed that it was the best Indian meal we had ever had. The only comment we made was that the potatoes were on the large size but extremely good.

Called in for a meal and were not disappointed, we both enjoyed our food and the service was good. Would eat here again.

I’ve eaten at the Redfort a number of times this last year and on every occasion it has been 1st class.

I met with a friend visiting from up north who had come back home for a catchup with some friends and I. First time i have been to Redfort and would definitely return.

Poppadoms,starters and main course, too full for dessert. Staff were attentive, didn't try to oversell drinks. Had a different pickle tray to anywhere else I have been, garlicky and spicy, really nice. Would definitely go back if visiting area again

We went on recommendation and told the manager about their names but they were not interested in knowing at all and also did not have time to talk for a second even though we saw them standing idle. One of them said "we are busy and can not talk". Just ridiculous!

Fancied some Indian food during our stay in Overton and found this little gem of a restaurant a 3 minute walk from our base at the White Hart. The staff were very friendly, the service was excellent and i have visited a lot of indian restaurants over the last 25 years and i would say this place would definitely be in the top 2. The food was incredible. And to cap it all off the prices were very reasonable.

You can always rely on getting a warm welcome and luvly food .....Service is very attentive...we like to take our time ...so always slow the pace ..which staff are more than happy to do.We like to have a drink while we choose ...popudum n dips ...then order after .....and never disappointed...

Food lovely. But all they want you out the door. Please ring them up and ask for the owner. He only there weekends. And tell him. He needs to be told. He will listen. He’s taken a step back. He will sort it!

We've been here a few times, we've always found the food lovely the service is good and its always busy, but we went a couple of weeks ago and everyone had left it was only 10pm so not late, wed asked for the bill but then decided to have 1 last drink!! was told no it was to late as they wanted to close.......;-(((

The people of Overton love the Red Fort, but as it's the only Indian restaurant in the village they're hardly spoiled for choice. We've had some good meals there in the past, but standards seem to be slipping.

Fabulous meal. Best dansak ever. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. We found the chicken very tender don't know what on earth could be wrong. Don't miss out on this one if you are in the area. Thank you for a great evening.

I had heard so many great comments about this Indian restaurant and wondered whether my expectations were too high but wherever I go I expect good service and that’s where this restaurant really fell flat.

Thursday Lunch with 2 friends. As the restaurant was empty the service was good but waiters were rather pushy to get rid of us, after the meal. Food was OK but accompaniments to the papadoms were bland. Rubbery chicken pieces spoilt the main dishes, which where otherwise well spiced and good.

I have had several takeaways from the Redfort. The portions are a reasonable size and the curries quite tasty. Unfortunately there is always a thick pool of grease which I find quite off putting

Went to the Redfort on early evening with family to celebrate my son's birthday. We had the place to ourselves at first but it was packed by the time we left, on a Monday!

You can read any of my honest reviews and believe them or not..but please listen to me on this one. This is the worst service, the worst food and the worst evening we have ever had out. The staff were surly to the point of rudeness, the food was cold and tasteless......I could go on and on but I hope you have got the message.

We popped in here on a whim after our reservation at Blue Ginger was messed up. We were told we could only have the table for 1 hour but we hadn’t booked so agreed. They certainly made sure we stuck to the hour by the minute! Although we were a bit rushed, the food was good and very flavoured. The service left a lot to be desired (except the guy who seemed to own the place, he was friendly and welcoming). Only comment is it was very loud and we had to shout to hear each other, the place was full of kids so maybe a child friendly restaurant if you’re looking for one. Overall our experience wasn’t excellent but the food was.

This is truly a wonderful place.

First time visiting Redford Tandoori since family had moved into village. Although we mentioned a pushchair it seems it was forgotten but staff were very helpful to sort this out and seat us where our grandson could be beside us. Food I have to say was excellent. There were four of us and food came out hot and at the same time. Food was excellent and lots of heat and flavour. We will definately be going back here soon.

My husband likes his curry hot and found the Naga tasty but not that hot, apart from that we both enjoyed our meals and they were very reasonably priced.

This is our local restaurant. its the best in the Basingstoke area. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is excellent.

Quite honestly the nicest Indian restaurant within easy reach of Basingstoke. Fantastic food, really well cooked and very well spiced. A slightly different take on a cauliflower pakora and the bombay potatoe but still absolutely delicious. Super service and a decent glass of wine was also available. Good value, great taste and we will no doubt return again soon.

This is my favourite restaurant. The food here is always so yummy and the staff are great. We came for my husbands birthday dinner and it didn't let us down. I never get fed up of this place. Also the apple chutney with the popadoms is to die for!!

Best Indian within miles with exceptional service, a definite must try! The staff are always welcoming and fantastic with my kids. The food is delicious but they'll go off the menu if you require something different. Once you've tried it's hard to go back

Upon recommendations we visited as a group of six friends. The service was good and the price reasonable, starters, mains and drinks for six people for around £160.If I could find fault then it's the quality of the food and meats. Although it was ok, the chicken from the starter did not appear to be fresh meat, texture was too smooth, so could have been reformed meat. My lamb curry, the meat was a tad tough. The house red wine a bit rough. I'm a local guy and my recommendation would be the Blue Ginger in Whitchurch, just a few miles down the road.It was an ok meal, I would just not return in a hurry.

First time here with friends who eat regularly had great king prawn butterfly all main were great except mine I ordered tandoori king prawn dansak but jut got watery king prawn dansak which was sadly stodgy I would return as everyone else's food was excellent

I visited here with my mum and go quite regularly as I am local to Overton. People come from miles around to visit this Indian. The food is nice, and it has a nice atmosphere. The manager is very friendly and looks after you well. The only downside is some of the waiters can be a bit rude at times. We ordered a few starters and side dishes and a bottle of wine, which added up to a nice some of money. And the waiter turned around after taking out order and said "this is not enough food, have you booked?!" We were quite taken back and felt a little un welcome. When the food came it was plenty, we even took some home. Other then that. This is a good Indian, with the right waiter you can have a fantastic meal, and we will visit again.

We had a great experience at the Redfort Tandoori. I recommend you book as this is very popular with the locals and not a big restaurant. The food was delicious and good value for money. The service was brilliant and attentive. We definitely will return when we are next in Overton or nearby!

Have been here several times now, the staff are friendly and you are welcomed and seated quickly. For a Tuesday, I was surprised by how full the restaurant was. The food was lovely, but the service a bit slow and disappointing. We had to ask for water several times, but the final disappointment was when we ordered a second bottle of wine (3 of us were drinking). It arrived at 9.55 and a few minutes later we were given the bill and informed that the restaurant closed at 10.I don't believe they should have accepted an order for the wine without pointing out that it was that close to closing time. We then sat there uncomfortably drinking to try to finish whilst the restaurant emptied around us. We were made to feel like we had inconvenienced them by staying past 10pm. Incredibly bad form.

Really poor so disappointed after reading the reviews. This place is in need a refurbish it is very drab the toilet is not clean, hand dryer does not work and no hand towels to dry hands.King Prawn Tandoori phaaa ridiculously small so called king prawns were over cooked and they serve them on a sizzling cast iron plate which over cooks the prawns even more WHY?? That dish is a rip off over £12 for 7 tiny prawns. Tarka Dal very dry and too much cumin. The place Stinks our clothes stink of Oil and our coats need dry cleaning. The greasy smell suggests the vents need a damn good clean in the kitchen. Gave 1 Star as the Nann Bread was cooked at the thin end the fat end was doughy inside.

Not what I expected...The restaurant is very small. The majority of the seats are located around the outside of the room with some tables in the middle. We arrived and were seated next to the main door which to be honest, wasn't ideal.The service received was attentive without being overpowering. The restaurant wasn't busy so there were no delays in receiving our food.The food was as you would expect; each dish being tasty and offering something a little different. The meal overall was keenly priced and the portion sizes were just right. As a family, we really enjoyed the experience and would certainly go back again.

It is often said that the traditional curry house is on the decline due to our tastes and wants changing. Before you change your tastes and wants I suggest you visit the Redfort Tandoori in Overton. Good food, great service and a nice atmosphere. Back to the future...

First rime here visit with a group of work colleagues. Pre-booked the house special after recommendation and weren't disappointed. Great atmosphere good staff will be going back.

We booked a table and visited in December between Christmas and New Year, the place was great.The staff were very friendly and very attentive. Great choice of food on the menu, make sure you leave plenty of time to decide what to eat.Looking forward to our next visit.

I LOVE Indian food and had never tried the Redfort Trandoori before and I'm so glad I did, new favourite! Fantastic food for a party of 12 for lunch, everyone loved their meals they were all authentic and delicious. The staff were wonderful and kind. Can't wait to visit again!

I love a curry and the Redfort Tandoori was somewhere I haven't visited. I have to say we were met with a warm welcome, the place is quite popular. Overton is a nice little town but parking is of a premium. The food was good and the menu had a full selection of dishes.It's not a big place but the atmosphere was conducive to a very nice evening.I would recommend it as a place to eat.

This restaurant was fully booked at 18:30 on a Saturday evening and clearly very popular. The staff were helpful and attentive and the food arrived quickly. This was classic indian food, which was delicious and well cooked .

Yet again the Redfort didn't disappoint , we have been going to this restaurant for best part of 30 years.Always a great welcome feel like part of the furniture.All the staff are so friendly, food is consistently good, try the pot roast chicken.Hope to be going for the next 30 years.

People travel a great distance to eat at the Redfort. Good quality food. Accommodating and friendly staff who work hard to make sure every customer leaves happy. The restaurant is generally full with a steady stream of takeaways which I think speaks for itself.
