Really disappointing What used to be a great restaurant just seems like a joke. We did a Deliveroo order and no poppadoms, chutney or promised discount. Seems a little amount but when you have been ripped off by about £13 and not the first time (I had forgotten why I hadn’t used them for a while and it was the same reason) it leaves a bad taste in your mouth Avoid avoid avoid

First time for a takeaway from here.. All we can say is WOW!!! The very best takeaway we’ve ever had. Fantastic food, exactly as ordered and served on time. Will not even bother to look next time we fancy an Indian meal, we will go straight to The Red Rose

Most average of average Indian restaurant. Everything was a bit bland, no punchy flavours. Paneer was like chewing a rubber. Naan a bit stale. Won't be rushing back.

It’s Wednesday night right? We ordered a delivery from Red Rose Indian Buckland Avenue at 6.50, predicted delivery 7.50. It didn’t arrive so Hubbie called them was told it has been sat there for 20 minutes and they are “just waiting for their drivers”. Hubbie called back to ask when it might be delivered as already 25 minutes late, advised by their “manager” my attitude stinks as shouldn’t be chasing them as they are busy and I’m very rude putting pressure on them as they are beholdant on their drivers! Just told him to cancel the order as his customer service is appalling and why would I want a meal delivered 45 minutes late when it’s been sat stewing since 7.30. Avoid Red Rose at all costs if this is an example of their service!!!!!! Guess what out TripAdvisor rating will be 🤣🤣

Dubious and bland tasting food. Had the king prawn curry, and ended up with food poison. Won't be going back, or recommending this place EVER!!!!

Delivery excellent service and the most important part the food. .excellent fresh and hot. Soft naam bread soft and I even thought still hot and steamy. I don't do reviews but some of the Indian food and Chinese has been really bad. 😊I mean other takeaways lol

Going on the other reviews, I must have caught them on a bad day. Or is their focus primarily on the take away aspect of she business? I would suggest so! The mixed grill looked amazing when it was brought to the table. Unfortunately, it was dry and tasteless,

Hasn't sold alcohol since covid, we found this out after we had arrived.

Disgrace to Indian cuisine, let leaving in every way. Tandoori chicken was an abomination; Indians would be turning in their grave to receive sweet soggy chicken (disgrace to call it Tandoori chicken).

Ordered takeaway for two, despatch time said 1 hour 5 minutes. Driver turned up an hour and 45 minutes after order. Despite only accepting cash the driver turned up without change so I ended up overpaying. Food was lukewarm and naan breads were missing. After attempting to call both numbers a total of 192 times I gave up. Will not order again. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. They are the cheapest in town but you get what you pay for.

Very disappointed Price charged was different to there website menu (prices not updated) Rice missed off order. Korma was OK, biryani was not good, pakura ok, lamb dipiaza was not good and I thought peshwari naan was coconut and sultanas but 3 peshwari naans and none tasted of or hint of coconut.

Food is good but very sweet not sure what they add in their curries to make it sweet , which completely reduces the authentic taste . The service was good and quick . They don't serve alcohol due to they licence not been renewed . Soft drinks are very reasonably priced and the main course. The owner should take it seriously to improve the authentic taste of Indian cuisine.

I'm extremely frustrated with my recent order. The lamb biryani was a disaster – uncooked rice and lamb made it inedible. The customer service was equally appalling, with a service person who seemed more interested in being rude than addressing the issues. This experience was far from acceptable, I hope this feedback aids in enhancing the overall dining experience for future customers.

Pre a booked table after my mum and dad used to come here a few years ago & had raved about it. It was shockingly awful, the worst service I’ve ever experienced in an Indian restaurant & the blandest curry I’ve ever tasted. They favour delivery drivers and walk ins collecting over diners, we watched so many people being served for the above whilst we were totally ignored. An hour & 15 mins after arrival our food finally arrived, needless to say we won’t be returning. This has to be the blandest & watery curry I’ve ever tasted.

Amazing welcome and hospitality. I had the lamb madras that was cooked to perfection.......perfect! Highly recommend

I used to be a regular here but a few years ago moved out of the area, I recently found myself in Basingstoke again whilst visiting family and looking for a take away, returned to the red rose. When I walked in I was greeted by name and was very happy to find that the service and food were as I remembered. Fantastic!

Ordered a takeaway. My daughter collected it. When home one of the mains was not there. Phoned up and was told its not on the receipt and wasn't ordered or the man who took the order misheard. The order was 2 mains, 2 rice, 2 naans, 2 poppadoms. Who would order 2 of everything with only one main??? So my daughter went back to collect the main. NO apology at all. Also one of the naans was a keema naan. There was zero meat in there. There was an extremely small amount of something but definitely no meat and hardly anything in there at all of whatever it was. Also their naans have shrunk! Very disappointed and will not be going back there. Such a shame because pre covid I used to dine in there a lot and have takeaways. Now I don't dine in there at all because you can't purchase wine/beer.

What used to be a great place to eat .Is now to be avoided al all costs whist the food is of a good standard .Cant say the same of the service we received, we had a table booked for 7.15 our drinks & starter were served promptly .Then it all started to go downhill ,there was a steady flow of just eat delivery drivers in & out after waiting for an hour we asked where are main meal .The waiter responded, with the following comment just eat comes first we will bring you your meal in a while .at which point we requested the bill for what we had been served A manager then came to our table to apologise ten minutes later are main course arrived .We wont be going back

Ive jusy had a delivery,10 minuites later its in the bin...I ordered a mixed starter and got a samosa, The curry was the most bland tastless rubbish ive ever had. it was no better than chicken flashed in the pan and the cheapest tastless sauce put over the top from poundland, You should be ashamed to sell food of that standard. BE AWARE YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY !!! Ive had hundreds of indian food and that was the worst experience ive ever had. How are you in business is beyond me... ive just re-ordered again from somewhere else !!! DISGUSTING !! You should be ashamed !!

Come here often and have been coming for years. Beautiful food, friendly staff and great value for money. Highly recommend and cannot fault anything.

It was the worst Indian food we ever had! For all the vegetarian curries, they have just made it too sweet and full of just one thing which was green peas.. be it Matar Mushroom or Matar Paneer or Mixed Veg!! Total waste of money!! And we are never going to think of ordering food from Red Rose again..

Always a great experience whenever I go to the red rose, have never had a problem with food, the food is ways great, the staff are always very friendly and the order is always quick and of good quality. It's the only Indian I go to. I wouldn't recommend any other Indian takeaway than The Red Rose.

I have been eating Indian food for the past 50 years and I have visited restaurants all over this country and in my opinion the red rose is the best Indian restaurant in the the south The food is always the same and you would have to go to Lndon to get this sort of quality and you will be paying London prices absolutely fantastic food and services many thanks 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Mr Morrison

Sadly the food was not as good as I'm the past - I had the Garlic Chicken that had fairly dry pieces of chicken - my friend had the mixed tandoori and again some of the neat were dry ... Also this restaurant now has opted for a total 0% Alcohol throughout - I had the Cobra Beer and hated it - I dread to think what the wines taste like ! I was given the excuse if COVID pandemic for this 0% alcohol policy - however we have been free of COVID for almost 2 years ! So begs the question what is the real reason ? It saddens me because in my view this restaurant was one of the best in Basingstoke - it's no longer the case and I shall not return - It is good of restaurants and pubs to have 0% or low alcohol but this restaurant has adopted and dictates this policy and though improving the market for 0% alcohol has yet a long way to go ( my humble view)

Would not recommend we order food at 20:58 was supposed to arrive within 45 minutes we called one hour after we then received are food witch was freezing cold we tried to get in contact for a refund or a new order but instead of helping they blocked are number would never use nor recommend again

Best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in Basingstoke. Had a takeaway last night and excellent chicken jalfriaze and chicken reyzala with samosas. Lovely extra touches of onion mix, salad, dressing and a free coke.

Nice food, good ambience. What you would expect from a British Indian restaurant.

Ordered later in the evening, arrived within an hour. But the rice was cold, the korma and kashmir were warm. The naans tasted burnt, and the onion bahjis were very very greasy. The food tasted okay but not the best I've had. And unfortunately very early next morning we were both being ill from both ends, were fine until we ate from here.

Had a night in on my own so decided to have a curry delivered. Curry is my favourite food and I’ve eaten in most places in Basingstoke, and have not eaten at the red rose for years. So decided as I did not want to leave the house this evening that I will get a takeaway delivered. So I decided to give the red Rose another try. I ordered a mixed starter, it was a very small dish when it arrived and consisted of an onion bhaji and two small pieces of chicken. I would consider it a below-average starter and was slightly disappointed. My main course dish was a lamb madras with mushroom and Keema rice. It looks reasonable on first inspection, but it’s taste considerably let it down. It was very bland and I did not enjoy it at all so I only ate approximately half, then the other half ended up in the bin. I personally would not eat at the red Rose again or order another delivery. There are many other places in Basingstoke that could do better even on their worst day. I have heard many people say they enjoy the red Rose, but as a curry lover I would certainly not say the same myself. I however am pleased I did try the red Rose this evening, does it confirmed my long-standing opinion of the red rose to be an accurate one. In other words cheap and nasty.

For the price this place offers a good value Indian meal. It is below national average price. The service is very good with the server keen to discuss the menu and dishes with you. Service was prompt. Restaurant was clean and modern. The food was good portion size. I enjoyed the food however I do feel the tikka was chewy and my naan burnt. I’m not sure I would return as there are many other Indians to explore in the area. By no means a bad meal. Just not the best but represents good value for money. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Came here with my partner for a late evening meal, quick polite service, mouth watering food and fair prices. Really enjoyed my meal and time here 10/10 would recommend and will be returning soon! 5 ⭐️

Didn't enjoy my food at all, The rice had more flavour than the Tikka curry and the meat in the keema nan was in one lump! Might as well of had a nan and a spicy meatball on the side!

Ordered a take away for my birthday and arrived stone cold, when phoning the restaurant they said they were really busy and that we could get 50% off our next order we wont be ordering, very disappointing.

We used to love going to the Red Rose but now they have not renewed the alcohol license, it is not the same. Tonight we ordered a takeaway for collection told it would be ready at 7pm, but was not ready until 7:30 and when we opened it it was very greasy. Not sure if the chef has changed but not as enjoyable anymore.

We bought a takeaway last night for three people. Three different meals. All were extremely bland, hardly any taste at all. The meals cost nearly £60 but not worth it as we threw most of it away. All of us tried each other’s meals to check but had to agree hardly any taste at all. So very disappointed. Will not be going again.

I have worked at The Red Rose for over 2 years now, both as a driver and a waiter. I know the restaurant and food to be clean and looked after. After 25 years, there is the same Boss in charge. He flaps about and panics when it starts to get busy, but this is because he cares 110% about getting the food to the customers asap, and he knows what he's doing! Same as for the rest of the staff. They're regular long term staff that are well trained and skilled, and always go out of there way to make your visit as nice as possible. The staff are always up for a laugh and joke. They're highly professional, but of you crack a joke with them, they'll join in and won't ignore it 😁 they're good fun and enjoyable to work with. Currently, as of early October 2021, there are only *Non-alcoholic* drinks on the menu.

The food was delicious and was nice and hot on delivery, so full of flavour, and at a really reasonable price, will definitely recommend and will be ordering again soon. Deliver guy was really nice too, very friendly, also apologised for the wait but we didn’t wait too long. We really enjoyed it.

Have used this takeaway service many times and it has sadly been getting worse. The rice dishes and potatoes were cold, there was very little taste difference between the tikka massala and the rogan josh. The garlic chill dishes and the jalfraise had very little heat. Very disappointing meal will not be using them again

Decided to be lazy and have a takeaway on a Sunday and tried the Red Rose. Delivery was really quick through Uber. Dishes were flavourful and had been freshly cooked. Most enjoyable 😊

We went here for a meal with friends. Booked a table and received a confirmation e mail from the manager. Got there and ordered our starter and drinks. We were told they no longer serve alcohol!! Why didn’t they say that in the e mail? We’re not big drinkers but everyone likes a drink with a curry. Waited an hour for our main, while sipping flat coke. Food was average.Will not be going back.

Having visited this place for years I was very disappointed with the fact that no alcohol is served but the web site still shows a full selection of wines and the sign outside states licensed premises.We waited 90 minutes before we got our main meals and the tandoori prawns were over cooked and chewy.My husband ordered tender lamb but it was not tender and the vegetables looked like baby food Sadly we shall not be going here again

For the last ten years, I have begged the Red Rose for the Lamb Parthia recipe, off course they have refused. Why would they pass on perfection. So I am resigned too another 10 years of ordering this magnificent food. Long live the neat ten years.

I bin in lots restaurant in Basingstoke this is the best ever seen in basingstoke . 1 clean. 2 staff they get profesional job and you not see here in jeans or t shirt no they do same like profesionals . 3. The ambien is nice is something where i prefer spend money but get a service like in france michlen restaurants. I was confuse when i see this restaurant for the first time . In basingstoke there are just 3 or 4 restaurants to get 5 stars . 1 dragonfly in popley 2 one red rose and 3 one is new one in bagoowds where they bilding new home i don,t remember the name . And last one ask italina pizza but hmm is 4.5 stars.

We have ordered home delivery food from red Rose.I have found their prices seem to be a little high.We were very disappointed in our food delivered last night the stuffed peratas were dry and well over cooked, uneatable. Me and my partner has just had chicken korma takeaway the service was good as normal 👍 but I’m afraid to say the food is not as good as it used to be ☹️ which is a real shame because the last time we had takeaway not so long ago we had the same and it was tasteless and the chicken had no taste and the chicken tonight nearly made me sick because it tasted really fatty to the point I didn’t finish my dinner ☹️ i think it’s time to check out another curry house until things improve 😬 so come on guys please read people’s comments and give the cook a shake 😂 and get the great food back again 👍

My takeaway tonight was bland. Chicken madras was tasteless and chicken pathia had some flavour, but taste wise was more like a poor standard supermarket ready meal. Onion bhajis were overcooked and burnt in places and also didn't taste very good. My previous takeaway from here was unfortunately a similar experience, although I had a very good eat in meal here a few years ago. Not a patch on The Saffron in my opinion.

Disappointed to say the least. Ordered a plain chicken curry/veg curry it was completely flavourless and watery. Poppadoms, lime pickle and rice was fine no issues. Delivery on time and price is very reasonable. They really need to work on their main dishes I won't be ordering again.
