The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

I had hosted a B'Day Party for my Son. While I wasn't happy with the arrangements done and what restaurant had promised me to deliver but what was more frustrating that I was over-billed. At the time of payment, the cashier told me that their till-machine is not working and hence just did the total on the calculator, which was incorrect. Since, I didn't had the receipt, I didn't realize that I ended-up paying about 15% - 20% extra money and realized only after I came back home. Since, then I have called hotel may times and sent them an e-mail as well but no response from their end. It's not a matter of 40 pounds that I paid extra but the intent and the courtesy demonstrated by the restaurant manager & staff. Disappointing when have a feeling that someone has tried to cheat you...may be unintentional but not correcting their mistake

Terrible service Ordered takeaway via the telephone repeated 3 times what we wanted delivered:- 2x Chicken BYIRIANY 2 XONION BHAJI 2 xBOMBAY POTATOES 3X POPADOMS AND 1 KEEMA NAN. FOOD arrived LUKE WARM order was wrong no popadoms rung up to complain sent a man out that came to the door with a bottle of coke!! Told him to go back and tell them that I wasn't happy and then he came back again with some popadoms. We had guests so we plated the food up and had to heat up each individual plate up as it was cold. Costed it up via the Menu on the website and it should have been ££41.80 including delivery not what we were charged which was £49.25 (we paid cash). NO APOLOGY!

Ate here whilst visiting Ludlow. There is plenty of choice on the menu, with traditional dishes as well as chef specials.. The food was cooked perfectly - fresh, tasty, and not overpriced. Our waiter was very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning when we next stay here.

Love this restaurant wouldn’t go any where else! We have a take out most weeks. Delicious food, lovely staff, It’s always our go to can’t beat it!

Very clean throughout .Service was very good ,in fact a bit over the top . Asked 3 times if we wanted drinks ,if our food was nice and if we wanted anything else :-) All the staff were very helpful and friendly . It was our first time to visit and i was a little disappointed with the menu ,as i love Chicken Bhuna & Chicken Balti and neither was on the menu . Instead i ordered the Butter chicken ,Rice and Nan and Chips . Everything was nice ,but the Butter Chicken wasn't the best if I'm honest ,it looked and tasted more like chicken in a thin tomato flavoured sauce . No consistency to it at all . The ambiance on the day we visited wasn't great either , TV on but also loud annoying dance music playing in the back ground over the sport showing on TV. No one was watching the sport . Would have been lovely to just have quiet back ground music on while dining out . Would we visit again , yes ! we will give it one more try as its local with lovely staff . But wouldn't order the Butter chicken again.

Went for the pre-theatre set menu which was excellent value. All food was excellent. Cocktails were also very good and ok price (for central London). Dining room was low lit and calm, service was attentive but not overbearing. Recommended.

Always an absolute treat. Delicious food, a good price, the only thing I would change is that when you enter as non Asian, you're treated completely different and even ignored sometimes. Not by the older lady, mostly the younger staff.

Our Curry Club visit The Sampan in Cowbridge after reading the reviews and it was a great night. Miah made us all feel very welcome and he asked what we normally have when out for a curry and served us a selection of meals which were excellent. Starters were chutney trays and popadoms, mixed meat starters - great start!! For mains, we had Malabar Beef Curry, Chicken Hari Mirchi Bhuna, Lamb Hari Mirchi, Ginger Garlic Prawn. We was ask hot spicy would like the dishes and we said fairly hot and it was perfect. The fresh spices which Maiah informed us about were very easy to spot which provided a very unique and original taste to all dishes. We had a few rice dishes and breads and all was excellent. If you in Cowbridge or planning a curry night out, you will not go wrong visiting Shampan. We was very happy and will be returning soon.

Very overpriced, the food is more expensive than London,Surrey & West Sussex Curry Houses. The Onion Bhajis are the worst - imagine having Bhajis the size of a Malteser& no flavour & it will cost £4.50 for the displeasure of eating it. I had the Chicken Tikka Bengal Naga- asked for extra Hot - it was ok,the Waiter was surprised I had eaten it and said they could do it more spicy next time- basically cook what I asked for in the 1st place and did not get.

Dining at Drummond Villa never disappoints: the Staff serve beautifully cooked, delicious food, and are attentive to a tee. First visit with my younger daughter, rather than old school chum, but it won’t be our last, I’m sure!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

A very busy restaurant in the centre of Brighouse. Have been before but and wasn’t overwhelmed, but thought would try again as it was a last minute decision. Food just as I remembered - every starter option we chose all far too hot/spicy and tasted same. Portions way too big just piled up on the plates - didn’t look nice . Lots of wastes with the starters. Mains exactly the same - every dish hot / spicy (even tho we selected some mild options) and again just piled on plate. Didn’t look or taste nice. Some of the dishes we tried …chicken pakoras, chicken tikka bites, mixed starters, chicken bhuna, buttered chicken, chicken rogan josh, chick tikka and chicken sizzler. Wasn’t nicely presented and didn’t taste nice and lots was wasted. Definitely won’t be back. Service slow, but it was busy. Also didn’t feel value for money - felt as tho we were paying for bigger portions rather than quality.

My partner and I visited this first class restaurant for only the second time with three of my Grandchildren this time. We live in Merseyside, but in Devon this is definitely one of the places to visit. Staff very kind and friendly, food first class and my eight year old enjoyed Chicken Nuggets and chips. Well there is something for everyone.

Four of us went for a curry the food was very nice and tasty we had poppadoms and pickles which were warm and crispy and the pickles were excellent.the main courses were all very tasty and well cooked the naans were fluffy and nice all together it was very very nice and the waiters were excellent.

Excellent food, Dev was really nice! I really enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the garlic nan bread, definitely recommend it.
