It was recommended and it was ace! The best french onion soup I've had and the pan fried duck with cherry sauce was delicious. My partner had the tiger prawns which come shelled and salmon which came in a ratatouille. Very efficient service and friendly staff.

Personally I thought this was a great experience, a warming atmosphere and a great space it made me feel positive from the start. I ordered the fish cake to start and it was delicious, the sauce added a lovely flavour on top of the tasty and perfected fish cake it was truly splendid. For my main course I had a burger although I was at a nice establishment I was ready for a nice dirty burger, although I say dirty it wasn’t dirty at all but still had the right ingredients top class it as a dirty burger, it was tasty cooked too perfection and the right size after a good starter. On the whole my experience at this amazing restaurant/ pub was amazing such friendly faces and good jokes mad the atmosphere very comforting, and this was topped off by a delightful meal.

I would like to commend everyone at the Angel for making my 65th Birthday weekend, absolutely incredible. My family and I had a magnificent stay. The rooms were exquisite and the taster menu was totally and utterly sublime. It was my fourth Michael Wignall experience. Two at Gidleigh Park on Dartmoor and now two at the Angel. All have been just phenomenal. My thanks to Michael, Johanna and all of the team. Despite the five hour drive, we’ll be back!

Very lovely experience, the food was delicious, fresh, creamy and hitting all the senses. Had crab cakes that were just perfectly light starter, pork was beautifully cooked and tender in a delicious sauce, and creamy spinach was perfect. Lady who served us was very attentive, I'm sorry we didn't catch her name. Will be back!

Excellent experience at Le Crepier Papin, Newland Avenue, Hull. Its a small French bistro, with fabulous food, bespoke dishes on request, vegatarian friendly. All food cooked from fresh ingredients. In turn, a varied menu selection, lovely atmosphere, candle lite, cosy, short wait for fresh food and friendly French Chef and owner called Joe. He apparently, opened the bistro - thirteen years ago. All food requests are embraced. Also, nice options for deserts too. I will be back soon to sample more dishes, as this is one talented Chef. Furthermore, I ordered the home made, vegatarian burger, in a brioche bun, seasonal ingredients, veggie quorn bacon, brie and wholegrain mustard topping, with a side of seasoned potatoes. I followed this with a Biscofe cake and vanilla icecream and a, liquor amaretto coffee. Absolutely, exceptional!!!

We called in to Rustique quite late on a Saturday evening after going on a Ghost tour of York. We were welcomed in and shown to an upstairs table. It was everything we needed after a chilly Autumn day. The staff were great and the food was delicious. The prices , although not cheap, were reasonable for the quality of the restaurant and food.

This was our usual, pre-Christmas, family get together at BB - albeit minus grand-daughter but plus, for the first time, the family dog, who was well looked after Orders were taken promptly - by the waitress we had met on previous visits - and the starters appeared at the expected time. Then we could tell that something had gone wrong - as our 'mains' of those and other diners, did not appear. Eventually we learnt that there had been a genuine medical emergency in the kitchen - causing a 30 minutes delay. That gained our sympathy but a much earlier explanation would have been a good idea. Starters were fine - being of the usual quality but unfortunately there were aspects of the 'mains' that were not up to the usual standards - presumably due to the disruption in the kitchen. In fairness, to compensate for the delay, we were offered desserts 'on the house' but could not risk missing a train or being late for the school pick up respectively, plus the dog had been very patient for longer than expected to be needed (as had we known about the 30 minutes delay, he could have had a walk between courses) - so had to decline. Despite the issues, we did still pay the usual gratuity - as the problems were not down to our waitress and it must have been difficult for the kitchen staff with the head chef having to go off site in the middle of service.

We met up for a meal at the Bistro last Wednesday evening. As always we were made very welcome and the service throughout was excellent. I love the extra touches and they are very accommodating. We all really enjoyed our meals. Although a service charge was added we were told that we could have it removed which I think is reasonable. I will definitely recommend the Bistro to others.
