Le Bistro des Amis in Craven

We came for a lovely meal last night on recommend from where we are staying and TripAdvisor I had the pork which was very nice and my partner had the fish parcel in samphire sauce which he enjoyed but the best was the desert which was crème brulle which had there homemade blackberry brandy in .my other half had a good size cheese board .After are meal we were given a complementary glass of their home made blackberry brandy which was great The service was very friendly and efficient.If you are visiting Skipton and want somewhere special to eat look no further

This was a very disappointing visit. We have been in the past and enjoyed the competence of the classic French cuisine which the place purports to offer. Today not so. With the exception of my starter, Parma ham with melon which was stunning and new to me as the Parma ham had been, probably, immersed in a fryer and came out beautifully crisp, unlike the always raw ham I had eaten in the past. I will always remember this, and will do it myself when preparing the dish. The Filey Bay crab which I had for my main course was boring in the extreme. A plainly dressed crab with all the different meats all stirred together whereas I much prefer to eat the dark meat, pick the white meat from the claws and the white meat from the body of the crab, and eat them separately, along with salad and not just salad leaves with dressing, albeit that was, actually, very nice. My wife had the Moneybags, the recipe I guess stolen from the former owners of The Angel at Hetton but not as nicely prepared. All in all a huge disappointment as we had been looking forward to going for many months. I must, at this stage, mention that the staff were excellent and helpful, even to the point of mentioning that the automatic addition of a 10% service charge was not mandatory. Of course we paid it in full as our problems were not their fault.

Had a lovely meal here. Came with my friend during a few days away in Skipton. We both had 3 course and really enjoyed each dish. Really nice ambiance as well and dog friendly on the ground floor. Would recommend a visit.

Another brilliant evening at the Bistro for our wine club dinner. There were 30 of us , we chose individually beforehand and were delighted with the food and excellent service. Fraser was extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The scallops were delicious as always and the beef melted in the mouth, such an amazing choice of dishes! Thank you for a very memorable evening in spite of the wintry weather.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining in this absolutely outstanding restaurant, the food was absolutely brilliant, we were never rushed and the restaurant was more or less full, The staff were really friendly and attentive nothing was to much trouble, it was just an absolutely fantastic experience.

We all chose from the set Xmas menu which has plenty of choice and is very reasonably priced at £25. They catered for my elderly mums smaller appetite. She was not overfaced and ate it all. The turkey was tender and the sprouts were cooked perfectly. ( difficult to not overcook ) Those who chose a crab starter said it was delicious. The service was excellent and we were welcomed. I had a ginger and rhubarb creme brulee and my only criticism was too much and too strong ginger on the rhubarb. I left it but are the remainder. I saw the staff move a booking downstairs for a lady with a stick who was reluctant to tackle the stairs. Five star service. We were not rushed and had a lovely family time. We have been before and are never disappointed

We went for our Xmas treat with our elderly in laws , who are regulars and rave about this restaurant . We went during lunch service and from the minute we entered we could feel the friendly vibe of the place . The food is excellent prawn cocktail, Xmas turkey main course and sticky toffee pudding were particular highlights . Fraser and his team provide friendly efficient service and we can’t wait to come back .

An absolutely perfect experience. The food was exceptional (thanks to Craig the chef) and the hosting was second to none (thanks to the owner Fraser). Great atmosphere! We asked for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and was served the French one, cheap and not nice. Ordered Moscatel from the wine list that was £5 and when the bill was given, they charged £7 instead. Price discrepancy between wine list and Dessert menu for the same sweet wine. Seafood money bag sauce too strong in a "burnt" way that I couldn't taste the sun fire. Husband soup a l'onion more a Pepercorn soup. Was expecting a better dessert menu selection.

My husband brought me here again for a lovely birthday lunch! It's our favourite place to dine and yet again it didn't disappoint, I had the cottage pie and it was absolutely delicious, but the vegetables really are next level tasty!!! Would highly recommend and will be returning soon with the family, thank you very much!

Staff are brilliant - helpful without being overbearing. Food quality is excellent. Great that we could bring the dog along. Been a couple of times previously and will definitely go again and have no hesitation on recommending.

This is an excellent restaurant. It has a very pleasant ambiance. The tables are nicely spaced and there is no music so you can talk to your friends without shouting and have proper conversations. The menu is French style and varied enough to suits all tastes. The boeuf bourguignon and the sea food money bag were particularly good. The portions are well sized so you wont go hungry even after a day out walking or cycling. Those with small appetites will find two courses are probably all they need. It is reasonably priced without hidden extras. I can thoroughly recommend it.

A bit belated this review. I cannot but say how much we enjoyed our visit. So good in fact that we went again the following day. The kitchen and staff coped with our garlic allergy and worked around it. Absolutely could not fault anything and will be returning when we next visit Skipton. Un petit morceau de France á Yorkshire.

When you get to 47 you don’t expect too many surprises, but I’m pretty sure I had my best Sunday lunch ever today at Le Bistro (apart from mum and wife created ones obviously). Amazingly tender and flavoursome roast beef, everything else just so tasty. Lovely atmosphere too. Amazing value, really would struggle to find anything better.

Well. The reviews match this establishment. What an incredible evening we had. 6 of us attended. Staff & Owner were second to none and nothing was to much hassle. The variety and the quality of drinks is second to none. We had lager, Real ale & wine drinkers and we were all happy with the choices. The food is outstanding, I have seen reviews about this place and they didn't disappoint. The seafood, outstanding, the beef, sublime. Visited for the early bird menu at lunchtime. Great value at £21 for 2 courses and £26 for 3 particularly as it includes homemade olive bread and seafood options often not included on set menus. We had the stacked crab which was delicious and the seafood money bag was fabulous. Lots of mixed seafood and the lobster sauce and frites were lovely. Service was efficient and friendly, restaurant was relaxed but well themed. A huge bonus that it's dog friendly as difficult to find good places to eat that aren't pubs. Highly recommended!

Yet again, amazing food produced by the chef Craig! Beautiful seafood money bag with to die for lobster bisque/sauce. My sister had the beef bourguignon and simply closed her eyes with the taste sensation! Definitely will be back for more. The staff are friendly and attentive, an altogether fantastic bistro!

I am so glad I gave this place a try. As soon as I walked in, I felt the warmth of the place and the people working in it. Due to the bad weather, it was relatively quiet, but that didn’t matter at all. The front of house staff were excellent. I think it was the owner who took our order, lovely guy with a real passion for food, telling us how he had collected the oysters just this morning and they didn’t disappoint. All of our starters and mains were superb, with home made warm bread served whilst we waited (not long at all) for the starters. Having lived in France, I can say that the food here tasted just as good as the best I had in Nantes. You just have to try it!! Can’t wait to see those guys again. I even got to thank the chef! Chapeau guys!!! (Hat off to them)

I have to say this is the best restaurant we have been to in Skipton. Not only is the food second to none but the service from lizzie was great too. Pork belly is to die for!! Great response from the messaging service they offer too

A most enjoyable lunch with friends, yet again! I returned to Le Bistro again with two friends yesterday. The food was superb as always, (the Soup, Pork, Toad-in -the -Hole, Seafood Money bags followed by Creme Brulee & Lemon Curd Tart), well presented along with the freshly baked bread. The service by the friendly & helpful staff, Alfie & Sophie,enhanced the experience. It was a pleasure to meet Owner Fraser too. Looking forward to going back again !soon!

Went for Sunday lunch waited for 55mins for my dinner to come. when it did some of the food was cold and some was warm how can you wait so long for it to be like this very disappointed .
