Rustique in York

We called in to Rustique quite late on a Saturday evening after going on a Ghost tour of York. We were welcomed in and shown to an upstairs table. It was everything we needed after a chilly Autumn day. The staff were great and the food was delicious. The prices , although not cheap, were reasonable for the quality of the restaurant and food.

Exceptional restaurant matched only by exceptional service from the staff. At this visit ( my birthday ) we decided to mix and match with the set menu and a la carte. We were not disappointed the fillet steak from a la carte was a melt in your mouth experience. I’m addicted to the Brie starter which as usual was excellent. The Shiraz selected from the world wine list section was a perfect accompaniment for our food choices. We concluded the meal with a couple of cocktails expertly made and very nice to drink. We must also thank Mehmet for his first class service and polite Turkish 🇹🇷 chatter. We will be back. Thank you Rustique.

So we came here last year and had a decent experience. So we decided to come back. First, the front of house was the same last year and I recall her being quite abrupt. I didn't mind this the first time round. However, when we entered she just gave us a look as if to say "what do you want!?!". No warm welcome, no smiles, which made us feel like we were a problem. We ordered our food almost within 5 mins of sitting down, which is fine because we knew what we wanted. However, it would have been nice to enjoy a drink first and then look to ordering food. This caused a problem down the line. My wife had an espresso martini, which she wanted to start off. However, our starters flew out a few minutes later. So she was stuck with a cocktail whilst eating her meal. On a side note, the bread to patè ratio is completely wrong. Ended up wasting half of the patè as there was no bread left. My plan was to get a good bottle of red in for our mains, but by the time our starters had gone, we still had our drinks from when we sat down. And within minutes, our mains flew out. My wife still drinking an espresso martini at this point. The waitress was really nice and attentive, however there was no acknowledgement of timing. And didn't stick around to ask if we wanted any more drinks. Also, the front of house staff who I kind of assume owns the place, was storming around quite aggressively. The staff looked terrified of her, and she gave a very stand offish vibe. Like no shame in appearing stressed or flustered. All in all, it took 35 minutes from sitting down and getting the bill. But I guess it saved me some money as we would have knocked back a bottle of the good stuff and maybe stopped for dessert if it would have been a better experience.

French restaurant servicing excellent food. Friendly staff with a smile on their face very happy to take care of you. We've eaten in some good London french restaurants and this is definitely up there. french onion soup is a favourite of mine and it was very good. between the four of us we had a good selection from the menu and every dish was very good indeed. tables possibly a little close to other groups but what restaurant doesn't squeeze them all in now. Certainly not as bad as The Ivy where you could be close enough to share tables!

Love Rustique , it’s a favourite of ours due to us always having the best meal and service. The set menu is great with lots of choice, and a good price. food is amazing and the ambiance is Lovely. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to come again .

Building is beautiful, Interior very impressive, Excellent value for money, however I just though the food was average at best. The atmosphere and building make up for the lack taste in the food we ordered.

Went here with my wife for a child free lunch. We literally spent ages choosing as everything on the menu looked appealing all the dishes. Ended up on mussels and pork amazing and on the set menu frankly a steal. Such a lovely place and great kind staff. Can’t recommend enough

We stayed in York for 4 nights and we had our best meal here. We were sat upstairs and had a lovely waiter. Great atmosphere. All the food was excellent as was the wine. Would definitely return if in York and 100% recommend.

The food served in this restaurant is absolutely spot on. Incredible atmosphere and even better service! The waiter we had was so polite and always made sure we were happy and satisfied! Will definitely visit again and would definitely recommend😊😊

We enjoyed a very good evening here last week and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It’s a very attractive establishment, friendly attentive staff and a really good original menu. Our meals were excellent, delicious and well portioned and made for a really great dinner.

Went for the set menu on a Saturday early evening. Service was excellent as was the food. The set menu has a large selection and is excellent value for money all 4 starters and mains were superb.

A fabulous menu, with so many options. I had mussels and Duck and my husband had French Onion soup and chicken. Followed by cheese board. We had a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir. Could not fault anything, the service was great, the staff friendly.

This restaurant is excellent value for money, quality and ambience. The selection of dishes available will suit everyone’s palate. The restaurant was very busy even at 6.00 pm but this didn’t deter the efficient and polite staff. A memorable dining experience!

Booked a table for 4 atmosphere was strange on arrival it seemed nice then there was a miserable couple complaining about a large party next to us who were just eating and chatting they made the waiter ask them to be quiet they were not loud I felt so sorry for them. Our food arrived the onion soup was quite nice for main I had the chicken in a watery tarragon sauce, my friend had risotto that had to be sent back as it was under cooked by the time it came back out we were all finished and the risotto was then like glue let the staff k iw they were not bothered. I had chocolate pot for desert but it was non descript tasted burnt. Shame our visit was not as good as reviews 😕

My husband , myself and disabled daughter enjoyed a lovely lunch from the set menu this afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble , really lovely food, staff and good service . We will definitely book again next time we go to York!

We had a delightful lunch with our two young daughters. The staff were very welcoming and although they don't have a specific children's menu they prepared something special for our girls.

Absolutely WOW! We have passed by this restaurant for years and have always promised ourselves "One Day"! The "One Day" came - It was raining and we decided not to walk any further in York and just happened to be outside the restaurant. We went in without a reservation. WOW! A lovely welcome. A wonderful menu. Terrific quality - So very tasty and beautifully presented. Very professional service from a great team. We cannot wait to go again. Tip: If there are just the two of you - Ask for Table 8. It's an intimate alcove. My wife loved the comfort of the window seat.

We had a really nice time. Food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and made it in to a night to remember. I would highly recommend. I had garlic mushrooms and the lamb, which was divine.

Just had the 8oz steak (fillet beuof), it was amazing, tasty and tender the meat just melted in your mouth and the bacon and blue cheese sauce topped it off great. It went down well with a Shiraz...or two.

Excellent meal, the service was professional, friendly but not familiar and the whole experience really special. We recommend anyone visiting York, to patronise this restaurant.

I've been visiting this French restaurant regularly over the last 4 to 5 years and have always found it excellent. Great value for money, especially the large set menu. The service is pleasant and efficient, It has become a big favourite of mine. The only surprise for me is that it is placed as low as number 37 in the tripadvisor rankings for York, for me it should be in the top 5.My visit yesterday was my first meal out since lockdown arrived 15 months ago, and I was particularly impressed with how the restaurant was dealing with social distancing and ventilation. They had set up five tables on the pavement outside, and upstairs they were making full use of the open roof terrace area to accommodate diners there in the fresh air. Crucially, this terrace area adjoins the main indoor eating area upstairs, and because they had the dividing doors open, the indoor dining space was getting lots of good ventilation, without in any way feeling draughty.Food was great as always. I enjoyed a very good carrot and coriander soup, with lovely fresh baguette. Very good also was the duck leg, with excellent dauphinoise potato, and first rate ratatouille as an extra. The soup and duck were from the set menu, but I decided to treat myself for desert with the apple tarte tatin from the the la carte menu, and I was really pleased I did, it was fabulous.So all in all this is a place I wholeheartedly recommend. Can't wait til my next visit!

Booked last minute for a Saturday evening dinner with family. This beautiful little restaurant is very welcoming, attractive and ‘rustic’!The food choice was very impressive, and the quality of the dishes did not disappoint.Starters included mussels, scallops and french onion soup- all delicious. Mains were Moroccan vegetable tagine, salmon, and confit de canard with dauphinois pots.... all delicious.We had a wonderful evening, just got too late to sample the desserts but we will return another time for sure!Great to be eating out after so long.... and good to see businesses filling their restaurants and making great food!Thankyou

Lovely place to spend a few hours drinking and eating. The staff were excellent especially Charles who looked after us while there. He was great friendly and really looked after my husband and I. Had a sprained foot from a fall earlier on in the day they gave me an ice pack to place on the swelling. And made sure we was welcomed and well looked after. The food was delicious and will definitely be going back there and will recommend to my friends too.

Thought I would phone and book the night before for lunch at this so called French restaurant but was just met with abuse by the owner/manager. Why had I phoned when You should have booked online it means we have to break off to answer the phone.. my my what an idiot.The food was tasteless and warm. The only resemblance of French was the menu.I suppose they have this attitude because so man tourists visit and probably never go again. Thought they would learn after lockdown that customers are your living so please do not be so rude or retire.

I visited this amazing restaurant with my husband yesterday and it is one of the best places I have been to. The staff are incredible, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the set menu which had plenty of choice and the price was extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to come back.

I visited York and stayed the evening with my partner and 12 year old son. Was recommended the restaurant from a friend who lives in York. This place was absolutely fantastic....the food was brilliant and the value was magnificent taking into account the quality of the food. The Service was brilliant and the waitress was lovely with a great attitude. I've been to York quite a few times and this restaurant is the best and I will certainly be returning the next time visit. I chose Rustique as I like French food and it had good reviews. I booked online and told them that one of the party needed a gluten free menu and the picked up on this as soon as we arrived and ran through all the options for her, even agreeing to amend some ingredients if she had any specific preferences. The food was good although we did have to wait a while to be served. There is both a set menu and A La Carte and I particularly enjoyed the Tarte Tatin.

I have not written a review for a while, however Rustique needed one. In a nutshell I needed to let the world know how good this place is. This was booked by a friend to celebrate myself and fiancé’s recent engagement. When they mentioned we were going to a French restaurant I was sceptical, however I need not have been. The whole experience from start to finish was exquisite and the food is out of this world!! We ordered from the set menu which was not lacking choice and the food was fresh, hot and extremely tasty!! I ordered the steak frites main with garlic butter and it was absolutely delicious, the other members of the party equally enjoyed their food too. The waiting staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Overall a fantastic fine dining experience and one I will most definitely be reliving again.

We visited for Sunday lunch and had the set 2 course menu. It was delicious. Would definitely recommend sitting in the terrace. The staff were very attentive too. We’ll visit again when we’re next in York.

Went to Rustique on Sunday lunch time after booking it on the internet before we left home. We ordered the three course set menu and each plate was absolutely delicious- the staff were very friendly and the service superb. This is now our number one restaurant when we next visit York. Thank you

Booked well in advance. Travelled up from London only to be told on arrival, table was booked only for half an hour for lunch / dinner. Blamed us for making a half hour reservation by an extremely rude and obnoxious member of staff! It’s ok he did us a favour. We’re now at the Ivy! Now being accommodated as ladies should be! Big mistake by Rustique!!!

What an absolute treat. Sampled the set menu and all five of us rated their choice of food as superb. The desserts that followed were so good that I am already planning a return ASAP. For chocolate lovers the pot au chocolat is the ultimate. All this with the friendliest service. Thank you, Rustique!!!

Read good reviews about this restaurant and after our first visit I can confirm it’s brilliant. It’s not stuffy and formal but relaxed and has that bistro feel. One of my favourite things to order in any restaurant is mussels / Moules. I’ve eaten them dozens of times all over Europe. I’ve not eaten any better than at Rustique. The white wine and cream sauce was sensational with crusty bread. My other half had a tagine meal and was equally gushing about her choice. The service was friendly and efficient and the added bonus was the extremely good value of the meals. Very impressed and when next in York I will be returning. A real French bistro serving high quality good value food. I cannot find a bad word to say.

Went to Rustique tonight to celebrate a friends pregnancy. Have previously only ever been to the Rustique on Lendal and have never had a bad meal there, but since this has now closed we tried Castlegate. It was our first choice when finding out we could finally eat out again and it did not disappoint. I could not praise the place enough. The restaurant itself is lovely, and much larger than I ever thought. The food was amazing as always, and the service was excellent. So glad to have been able to come back to after such a rubbish year. Without a doubt one of my favourite places to eat in York and would honestly recommended to anyone. Will be back again very soon. We had a lovely anniversary meal here, and while the food was nice the most memorable aspect was how ludicrously quick the service was. We had a full 3 course meal and we walking out the door less than 1.5 hours after we went in.

My husband, son and I had booked a table for Christmas Day. Frankly, we were delighted that the restaurant could open at all - given this year’s bumpy ride for the hospitality industry. We’d probably have been happy with a bowl of soup followed by a yoghurt so long as a Christmas cracker was involved. We have visited Rustique many times and love its relaxing atmosphere and consistently delicious food. Their Christmas feast was absolutely delicious - with jingle bells on! Wow. I had a beautifully chilled and delicately flavoured salmon starter, followed by an extremely generously-sized fillet steak, cooked perfectly, accompanied by tasty veg and a beautifully rich gravy/jus. The service was, as always, perfect - polite, prompt, always someone unobtrusively on hand . We were delighted. Thank you!

We visited as a family of four and the set menu offered amazing value for money and I couldn’t believe the choice and quality of the dishes on it. It felt like we had chosen a la Carte courses of Mussels and goats cheese starters and duck main course and sea bass main course for set menu prices. They created whatever the children wanted, which was pasta dishes and the place is very cosy and Covid friendly with lovely staff. Stayed at the Hilton so literally just steps away. Would definitely recommend.

Not called for ages after things changed for us. Called to try it again. It’s still really good! Super welcome, excellent staff, great fixed price deal, good wine selection, and most importantly great hot, tasty food - just as we remembered. Wonderful atmosphere, upstairs is as good as down. Good portion sizes, excellent veg, (extra) recommend the red cabbage. Nice to be there again, back on our list to call again!

First time eating here, came for our anniversary 2 days out of lockdown. Restaurant confirmed they were still open. Value for money £20 for a 3 course meal is incredible, never had such fast and kind service but none of the quality ever suffered. 11/10, could not fault it!!

This place exceeded our expectations. The service and atmosphere were good - despite COVID-19 restrictions - and the food was very good. Especially enjoyed the moules, confit de canard and boeuf bourguignon.

I would describe every single visit to Rustique as truly excellent, the service is perfect, food is perfect and it's a great place to visit at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

We ate here just before lockdown 2. The welcome was friendly and the meal was the same quality that we have come to expect - it was a birthday treat and did not disappoint. We will be back.

Booked here by chance and so glad I did, ALL of staff that served us were excellent, the menu had lots to choose from, so would love to go back to try more, but the food we had was delicious! Have already recommended to friends.

We had an amazing time at Rustique. Having only been to the Lendal Bridge restaurant before (and loved it every time!), I wasn't sure whether it would be as good, but I was very pleased! We had a lovely meal, 3 courses and all under 2 hours, but didn't feel rushed at all! It was lovely and warm sat outside on the roof terrace, despite the wind and rain, because of the heaters and terrace umbrella. Great value for money, using the set menu, and absolutely delicious food! The staff were friendly and social distancing guidelines were being adhered to!

We visited during the Tier 2 lockdown so not many people about. The staff were very welcoming and made suggestions for food and drink. They managed to keep an atmosphere going with only three tables occupied. Great food. We would be delighted to visit again.

Found this by accident looking for somewhere to eat on a Monday night in York on the final night of our breakat the beginning of October. We asked on the off chance at 1730 and they were able to fit us in at 2030. We went for the 2 course set menu, plenty of choice at £16.50, (£19.50 for 3 courses). Two of us had moules marineres and I can say they were probably the best I have had anywhere, big, plump and juicy and cooked to perfection. The other member of the group had the boeuf bourginon which fell to pieces it was so tender. The deserts were also very good and the wine not overpriced. Service was attentive and covid restrictions adhered to. We would definitely go back if we were in York again.

Another visit to Rustique that did not disappoint. The steak and frites was excellent, the steak was cooked to perfection. My husband had the chicken which he says was very tasty. The starters were also excellent. I usually have the creme brûlée but chose the crepes with banana and caramel, fantastic. So good I could have eaten my whole meal again. The staff are very attentive and so friendly; Covid measures as per usual but not intrusive. A great place to go.

We booked Rustique for a birthday dinner, and it was honestly incredible. We had the Saint-Jacques Scallops & Camembert to begin and then we both ordered the Filet de Boeuf and it was one of the best steaks we have EVER eaten! Cooked to perfection (bearing in mind it’s a French restaurant so opt for slightly overcooked than you would normally). It was huge and very reasonably priced for the quality of it. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back next time we’re in the area - by far the best place we’ve eaten in a long time (and we are proper foodies!)

A birthday gift voucher brought us to Rustique and a delightful meal and experience was to follow. The food was so finely flavoured and the service was excellent. They manage COVID expertly and quite subtly so it doesn't dominate the experience.

We loved our evening meal at Rustique! Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. The meals are not on the cheaper side but you definitely get what you pay for! There is also an extensive selection of wines! Would highly recommend.

Great food superb Chateau -Neufchâtel du Pape Service was slick and the staff were fun despite wearing masks.We were not rushed at all in fact diner at a leisurely pace.To top it all the price was very reasonable.Finally the lamb cutlets were to die for

This restaurant never disappoints! Food is always of the highest quality and service right up there! The moules are great as a starter or main! The best value the set menu! But you can select anything and it won’t disappoint! The restaurant was discernibly very quite when a few weeks ago we failed to get in with a booking on the day! Let’s keep supporting!

Mi amigo y yo cenamos aquí y me alegro de haber elegido este restaurante. Servicio agradable de principio a fin y la comida fue excelente. Porción absolutamente enorme de mejillones en el entrante y bistec para el plato principal cocinado a la perfección, definitivamente regresaremos en nuestro próximo viaje a York.

A short post - lockdown break in York would not have been complete without a visit to Rustique its premier French Restaurant. Firstly ordered a nice bottle of pink champagne to get the romantic evening off to a bang ... or pop in this case... then sharing the King Scallops which were very tender and melted in the mouth:). The main event was lamb for my wee pal and the Fillet of beef for me.... which we shared to get best of both worlds... lamb superb, beef slightly over cooked but still nice (ordered medium but was more like well done).To finish what else but the French Crepes to share which my wee pal described as amazing .... so much so I only got two spoonfuls :(. Then back to Middlethorpe Hall to sit in the gardens with a relaxing bottle to end the night....

Reservamos una mesa para mi cumpleaños. Personal amable y personal capacitado. Pedí la sopa de cebolla francesa que estaba deliciosa. Mi esposa la sopa de verduras que venía con pan francés que disfrutamos. Ambos elegimos el bistec mío estaba preparado perfecto pero el bistec de mi esposa era muy difícil en algunos lugares. Se disculparon y le ofrecieron a mi esposa un pudín gratis que fue muy bueno de su parte. Iremos de nuevo.

Pasé el fin de semana para el cumpleaños de mi esposa y buscaba un lugar agradable para ir en York.Encontré Rustique que parecía prometedor, así que reservamos el domingo por la noche.Se muestra arriba, que estaba ocupado pero no demasiado ocupado.Las medidas de Covid estaban en evidencia.El personal fue asombroso.Un gran agradecimiento a Charles (que parecía estar a cargo) que fue fantástico.La comida era excelente.vimos a una camarera limpiar una mesa y sillas después de que los invitados se marchaban.qué limpieza 10/10 para la limpieza.cuando volvamos a York volveremos

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a recent trip to York. All the staff were very helpful and attentive. We chose from the 3 course set menu. The food was delicious. A very enjoyable and reasonably priced meal.

Cuando visitamos York, siempre intentamos reservar una mesa en Rustique. Esta fue nuestra primera visita al restaurante Castlegate para mi regalo de cumpleaños y fue como estar en Francia con la decoración y el ambiente, y el menú.Disfrutamos de 3 platos repartidos en la cena a nuestro gusto: caracoles, canard y crema brulée, acompañados de una espléndida botella de Baron de Baussac vin rouge. Una velada espléndida.

Comimos aquí anoche, reservamos para 7. 30 y disfruté de 3 platos completos, un ambiente encantador y sin prisas. Para empezar, comimos mejillones y camembert, luego rib eye con salsa de champiñones y pechuga de pato. Para el postre comimos tarta tatin y flan. Cada plato fue increíble, el servicio fue excelente (la camarera encantadora incluso nos trajo salsa de champiñones extra sin que nos lo pidieran, ya que vio cuánto lo estábamos disfrutando!) La mejor comida que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo y definitivamente regresaremos. Gran valor. Excelente en todos los aspectos.

Vivimos en York y este es uno de nuestros restaurantes favoritos. Visité muchas veces a lo largo de los años y siempre es excelente. Estaba impecablemente limpio, mucho espacio entre las mesas, las reglas de Covid parecen ser seguidas al pie de la letra. 60 por botella de vino y tres platos del menú. Sin embargo, me gustaría ver un par de platos diferentes en su menú fijo.

Muy fácil de encontrar ya que está al lado del museo Jorvik en Coppergate.¡La hemos comido varias veces, así que claramente lo disfrutamos!Visitamos en septiembre en tiempos de COVID,Todo estaba en su lugar y el personal manejó el desafío de manera excelente.La comida era muy buena, siempre ofreciendo una buena relación calidad-precio.Los asientos están arriba y abajo y tiene comedor al aire libre en una pequeña terraza.Un firme favorito con nosotros, volveremos pronto.

We had a fantastic 3 course meal here from the set menu (£22) . There were lots of really good choices and the portions were large. The food was delicious and the service and atmosphere were fantastic. Highly recommended.

Mi esposa y yo disfrutamos de nuestra comida en este restaurante que definitivamente tiene un auténtico bistro francés. La decoración y la comida te transportan por el Canal de la Mancha. Todo el personal fue de lo más servicial y conocedor de la comida. Mi entrante de auténtica sopa de cebolla francesa era casi una comida en sí misma y mi pierna de pato estaba muy bien cocinada. La lista de vinos tenía una amplia variedad de variedades y precios.Las disciplinas de covid se cumplieron bien y las mesas estaban bien espaciadas. Nos impresionó la forma en que el personal se ocupó de desinfectar la sal y los pimientos, los menús, etc., después de su uso y la limpieza general de todo el lugar.Muy recomendado.

We visited here for lunch as a party of 4. From the start the staff were amazing and very attentive. The food was amazing and delicious with the portions being larger than you would have in most restaurants. I would strongly recommend if you are visiting York to sample the delights of Rustique. 10 out of 10.

Vinimos aquí para comer a principios de septiembre.Las mesas estaban bien espaciadas y no nos sentimos como si estuviéramos compartiendo espacio con nadie más durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí.El servicio fue bueno. El tiempo justo dejándonos solos antes de tomar el pedido.La comida estuvo muy buena. Estaba bien preparado y bien presentado. Había una buena selección de vinos para acompañarlo. Pasamos por el desierto porque queríamos colar una bebida extra en la puerta de al lado, pero otro día, fácilmente podríamos habernos quedado comiendo más.Los precios tampoco estaban mal. Tuvimos una buena comida a un precio muy razonable. Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta.

Saw the restaurant in the day while Walking past during day, menu looked lovely and reasonable too. It was 12 noon and people were queuing to get in. We asked if there was a table for the evening and was told it was booked up. Walking past at 5pm we saw it wasn't full so we asked if there was a table. The waitress checked and said a table was available until 6.30 only. That suited us perfectly as we'd been walking all day and had only eaten breakfast. Lovely ambiance and staff attentive. Food lovely, Phone was ringing off the hook for people trying to book. They could have booked their tables three fold. Keep up the good work guys

We visited for a meal last night, this was our first time at the restaurant, the meal was delicious, couldn’t fault it, we chose the food from the set menu and there was plenty to choose from.It was quite busy but the staff were attentive at all times. Good Covid safety measures in place - just a shame the few people who came in without wearing masks(just holding them) but staff were good and asked them to put them on until they got to the tables.

We have a friend who has an issue with lactose intolerance. The staff were superb at interpreting her needs. The food was a delight to look at, then you started to eat! Would I recommend this restaurant, absolutely. Please support this restaurant they are really good at their job. They must be the missus and her boss didn’t speak for a good ten minutes.Next time we come back to York we’ll book this place with no trepidation.

Met some lovely ladies whilst walking the Wall in York who told us to visit Rustique. They weren’t wrong. The food was wonderful; great wine ( on the advice of the lovely Italian waiter ) and truly superb food great service. Please bring this to Belfast -everyone would love it!

We were supposed to be in France but with Covid hey ho. So went for French food. It was great and fantastic service. The guy on table next to us left to go to the loo and Charles took his food away to keep it war. Nothing to much trouble here. Good quality food at reasonable prices.

We all went here for my wife's 60th birthday and as usual it was brilliant.everyone enjoyed there food,no complaints.they managed to get us all seated close together as we are all one family anyway.the birthday cake was a nice touch. Weve been to both rustique Many times and will keep going.one of the better places in york to eat,reasonably priced and plenty of choice. Love it.

Quiet simply disappointing, food quality poor, staff extremely rude and not worth a visit. Even after making a comment about service they simply laughed it off and was like it’s tough as you have already paid (on an app to order all food and drinks) you have to go on app 1/2 way through eating just to get a drink when it’s clearly easier to ask staffSave your self the hassle and money

The reviews are spot on. This is the place to go for a true French experience. Lovely food and wine and great service. Well worth a visit.

Went for lunch on Saturday. Tables well spaced in upstairs dining area and staff very attentive. Excellent selection of both starters and main courses. We had lots of options. Our food was excellent and we were not rushed through. The only disappointment was dessert. Our lemon cheesecake was bland and rubbery with a solid base. Our waitress was very sweet and did not charge us for it. It was a good dining experience and we would recommend Rustique.

We came here for an evening meal and were not disappointed. My partner had the mussels for starter and there were plenty and I had the mushrooms really good. We then had the chicken breast and the sea bass and again there was plenty and it was delicious we would definitely recommend here the service food and wine was so good we returned the following night and will definitely be back again next time we visit York.

My partner and I enjoyed our evening immensely. Service and quality of food superb. We recommend the french onion soup and the baked Camembert is a must.

Came here when in York for two nights, dined in the hotel restaurant on first night but wanted something different on night two. Receptionist recommended and so glad she did. Was great 3 courses and cracking wine.

Lovely dinner at Rustique in York. Friendly staff and very good Covid measures in place. Great place for evening meal when staying in York.

Lovely place. Staff really helpful and efficient. We ordered from the set menu which was great value. Food was fabulous and service superb.

Needed to go earlier than we would have chosen due to their diligent adherence to COVID 19 rules of social distancing but not disappointed!!! The food, wind & service was excellent!!! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!

Used the Lendal Rustique restaurant, our first visit on Saturday 19th September it was stood we used it again on Monday 21st too. The setting, the food and the two ladies who served us downstairs were all fantastic. Great menu selection, Al La Carte or Set menu to choose from. The two Rustique restaurants are a must if you like good food are a must given the quality of food and the extremely reasonable price for a city centre restaurant. Would highly recommend.

From the start, the staff were very attentive. Got a glass of water each as soon as we sat down and within 40 minutes we had already received drinks, starters and mains. The mussels and prawns were so fresh and delicious and the beef was so tender! The cheesecake was the only slightly let down, don’t think it was homemade but it was still tasty. Would definitely eat here again

This is extremely good value for money always very friendly service and fantastic food. This is a must go to. By far one of our favourite places to eat in York

We booked a table for two Wednesday evening 8.00 pm, very pleasant greeting, lovely table position, a lovely young lady looked after us. We decided to go for the three course menu, excellent value, pate, steak, lemon pudding... Service was efficient, not rushed, food hot and tasty, well done... Again...

We really enjoyed ambiance and also the social distancing methods in place. Food was really good. Very enjoyable meal

We had dinner here and though we had the special menu the range was good and the quality was superb - from the olives through to the desserts it was excellent and social distancing measures were clearly in evidence. We will be back

I expected a reasonable meal at a reasonable price. Under £20 for three course set menu. What I didn’t expect was a decent sized steak that was cooked to perfection and tasted as good as my dad’s (he was a French chef). I’m always disappointed by steaks in the UK, but this place delivers. The lemon cheesecake was great too. No wonder I had to reserve a seat!!

Decided to try this restaurant after good reviews. The food was fantastic especially my starter the king prawns. The main meal fillet of stuffed pork was my husband favourite meal. The staff was really nice and all wearing face masks. Would recommend this restaurant.

Came on recommendation from a friend Good food. Well made. Good service My thoughts with eating out is whether it’s what you expect for the money paid. This was spot on. Not the most spectacular, but that isn’t my expectation at the price. We will be back
