Lovely little place and good prices.

Can’t thank you enough for accommodating myself and my boys so late this evening, after being turned away from a few restaurants. We managed to get some food here, if you haven’t been before, it’s a must to visit, we managed to catch some live music, the food was amazing and the staff very warm and welcoming! Will definitely be returning.. thanks again to all your staff. My boys loved the food and mock tails as did I 😊

I have had lunch in Nola on several occasions. The food has always been excellent. The menu has a variety of small plates and there will be something to appeal to everyone. It is reasonably priced and there are now lunchtime specials which are fantastic value. The restaurant has a stunning decor and the service is always friendly and efficient.

Great food, great staff and the service is first class

Visited whilst on a weekend break. Fantastic food, amazing cocktails( chocolate martini my new favourite) wonderful atmosphere, lovely staff, we visited on a Sunday where they had a singer entertaining which just added to the overall experience.

Absolutely amazing place. Went on a Friday for the Jazz downstairs. Arrived way too early but it was no problem for their amazing staff who served us cocktails until we could go downstairs. The food was sublime and the music made it even better. What a wonderful evening.

Food was fantastic. Had the 2 mains and a side on the special deal menu. The live jazz was an added bonus.

Came here with my gf for an anniversary dinner in late February on a Saturday. Lucky enough to get a padded bench downstairs to share and we were both thoroughly impressed. Great cocktails and dishes, attentive service and unique atmosphere! If there's is a better restaurant in york, let me know because this place will take some beating! Superb!

Definitely five star experience. Highly recommend. Menu selection cleverly built at a reasonable price. Delicious burgers both, chicken and beef (that's what we had). Unique ambience that brings you back to the early 19th century with an accurate Art Deco Theme. Service impeccable, always nice, precise and attentive. Honorable mention for the Belgian waffle with vanilla ice-cream and crumbs of biscoff, outstanding.

My friend who has been to York many times and has walked passed the unobtrusive entrance I booked this based on the great reviews. What a find. Superb service by Adam. Delicious food. And two courses and a side for £18.95 midweek special an absolute steal. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Monkfish cheeks melted in the mouth. My friends beef equally as good. Excellent Spanish shire wine accompanied the meal. Not to be missed if you’re looking for great food and service.

Wow! Incredible venue. From the decor to the attentive staff, the gorgeous cocktails to mouth watering food with the most talented jazz act to put the cherry on top! Loved Loved Loved our time here. We had numerous cocktails upstairs then a lovely bottle of red to go with our food downstairs where you felt like you had been transported in time. The Jazz singer and sounds of the soulful trumpet really made our night, matched only by the stunning food. Thank you so much!

Great tapas style menu with good mix of meat/fish/vegetarian options. Service was efficient and friendly, food was excellent. Very reasonable prices too for York centre.

Aldo the Manager went above and beyond for us. Having had a very eventful journey up to York and our taxi not turning up we missed our booking. I had kept them informed that we were running late due to our journey and they amended our booking. When the taxi didn’t show i phoned to sadly cancel, but they found a solution and we arrived at 8.15pm. All the staff were attentive, helpful and Aldo came to chat to us and got drinks for us and when a table became available in the live jazz area downstairs the staff offered for us to move downstairs. Can’t say enough about Aldo and the team, thank you for enabling us to turn a challenging day in to a memorable and enjoyable meal with great food. Highly recommend.

New Orleans style restaurant in both atmosphere and food. Recommends you have 2 dishes and a side per person. I had the gumbo, the monkfish and a side of fries. Not really a seafood person but this was amazing. Girlfriend is vegetarian and had plenty of choice. She'd recommend the vegan jambalaya. Cocktails really nice too. Overall would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed the experience as such. It was a shame that the food was served on cold plates and was only lukewarm. Staff were attentive but the menu was advertised as £18.95 for two mains and a side. We were charged for every item and so the bill was over £12 more than expected. A small jazz band added to the atmosphere which was good.

We had an amazing evening with our son for his birthday. Cocktails were beautiful, we had lovely service, all our dishes were full of flavour. We loved the New Orleans theme which went across the music, drinks, food and design. We even had a nice little surprise for our son's birthday. Will definitely be back next time we're in York. 🤩

Nice restaurant with really nice decor. Enjoyed the food although did find it slightly expensive for some items. Cocktails were really good, service was ok, not the most friendly. Don't waste money on the Mac and cheese, tasted like it was out of a packet.

We booked early evening at this fabulous venue. This was a slight error on our part as we were planning to be up early the next day. However the welcome and the food were top notch. The decor is fabulous as were the cocktails, and the food was sublime. We will definitely be back for a late night live music date with you. Cocktails: Hurricane, Jackson Square for me and Cosmopolitans for Carol. (Please do note that the portions are smaller, this is stated, but the jambalaya was quite generous) Food:Jambalaya, Gumbo, Pork belly, Duck spring rolls. Sides: old bay seasoned fries and sweet potato fries. Desserts: Key lime and pecan pies. We couldn't fault ANY of it. Looking forward to a return visit for the full jazz experience

Hands down the freshest, well-balanced and delicious food I’ve ever ordered in the uk in 20 years. Second time in york, first time in Nola, and the octopus risotto was something indescribable- the buttery creaminess of the seafood and rice was unmatched- and I don’t even like risotto or octopus, it was my mums order! We took one spoon each and couldn’t stop staring at eachother in silence. The crab arancini were sooooo fresh and not heavy with incredible cause, and beef short rib was beaaaauuutifully marinated. I thought I was eating Michelin star food for under £20!!! The team were also so welcoming and considerate- our train. Had been delayed so we arrived at 7.10pm after their 2 mains 1 side for £18.95 ended, but they still honoured it! And amazing 20s jazz and such great vibes- such a shame we missed the live band, will have to come back when it’s live!!! Plleeaassseee open a Nolas in Nottingham, otherwise we’ll just have to make york our second home haha. Incredible night, made us start our trip with full bellies and big smiles!!

Walked in without a reservation and had an amazing meal, great wine all in a lovely setting. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again if in York. Thank you Nola

Went to Nola on Saturday night tried to get into a bar outwith Nola for cocktails every where was full so went to Nola to see if we could come in early for cocktails no problem we were ushered in to a very welcoming venue with great jazz music when it was time for dinner wow the food was fantastic the cocktails were excellent the staff were first class they couldn’t do enough for us will definitely be back the next time we are in York

Really lovely decor à la 1920 Speakeasy. The waiter was very helpful to guide us through the menu. The concept is small portions to be shared ... We were told two mains and a side each, which was okay but I feel that some might find this too little so maybe three mains may better. Very nice food though

From a former mystery diner from London, Nola was 10/10 for everything; drink, food, service and decor. In fact we both agreed this was our preference over a Michelin star 7 course tasting menu! We loved the set menu where you could taste 4 dishes at once and the friendliness and relaxed atmosphere and the cocktails were exceptional too!

We booked NOLA to celebrate our daughter’s graduation. What a wonderful venue. Not only did it have a 1920 American vibe it also had delicious food. Excellent, quick service and very friendly staff. They even gave our daughter a small graduation card and dessert. What more could you ask for. Thank you for making the evening special.

What a fabulous evening. Beautiful restaurant coupled with superb live Jazz. The food was top drawer. I had the Gumbo and this was excellent. Well worth a visit.

The restaurant is a 10 minute walk from the nearest car park and easy to find. Inside it is very well decorated and the tables aren't too close together. The food was very tasty, however some of the portion sizes are quite small and some are what was expected. The table for 2 that we had was quite small and we had to eat in 2 separate courses as there wasn't room for everything.

So sorry this review is late especially after such a great evening that I promised to do a review. We booked Nola for my husband’s 50th birthday, the staff are attentive, the tapas like menu is great and a delight to try different foods. We ordered 9 dishes between the 2 of us which was perfect . Particularly favourites, king prawns, lamb kebab, pork belly and macaroni cheese. Wine and cocktails good too. My husband also had a cake for his birthday and a birthday card which was a very nice touch . The manager was great and made us feel very welcome on this special occasion . We were accommodated without a booking on a busy Saturday afternoon. Served by pleasant, helpful and attentive staff but not intrusive. Food was delicious, a combination of brunch menu and small plates ordered. Exceptional quality and reasonable portions.

Nola is a really nicely done out venue. Art deco style, walk down the stairs when jazz is on and you soon won’t feel like you’re in York. The entertainment made our night! The food was very mixed, loved the gumbo, prawns and kofta. The wings were really fatty and slimy. Biggest letdown was the cocktails. We had a couple plus liquer coffees and would swear blind there was no booze in them. They were the tamest cocktails we’ve ever had and we really felt done over considering the cost.

Excellent restaurant, impeccable quality of food and location at a cost lower than the average of what York offers and what the delicious dishes on offer would require. The Belly Pork is highly recommended, an inimitable meat dish of rare goodness. The management of the restaurant is entrusted to a very hospitable and competent Italian boy, who knows how to advise with wisdom and taste. I don't think you can find better value for money in York. With 2 dishes, dessert and wine it costs around €35, but if the bill had been €50 I would have had nothing to complain about given the quality of the proposals. Recommended is an understatement, as an Italian I compliment this splendid restaurant.

Everything about this place was fabulous. From the welcome by the flower adorned Christmas tree, to the decor and 1920s style, not to mention the food! The food is based around small sharing plates of southern American food, sticky, sweet, spicy, it was divine! Sticky ribs, wings, crab arancini, scallops, prawns, jambalaya and on it goes... The cocktail list was comprehensive, with some classic french favourites like French Martini and French 75. The staff were all so friendly, welcoming and attentive. One small criticism was that the fine wines were only available by the bottle, not the glass, or perhaps carafe. Otherwise, it was outstanding!

I've visited this fantastic restaurant on my 25th & 26th wedding anniversary,, we travelled 120 miles just to dine at Nola, you do need to book well in advance to guarantee the downstairs jazz restaurant, live jazz bands play on Tues, Fri and Sundays,, ambience very 1920s jazz style American, the food creole and cajan inspired,, the food is outstanding,, the service is fantastic and the icing on the cake is the jazz musicians,, I'd recommend Nola to any foodie travelling to York, Summary, great restaurant, fantastic food, wonderful staff, and a superb live jazz act, 😀 can't wait to return.. thanks for reading,

Absolutely wonderful restaurant. We booked this for my birthday meal as I absolutely love both New Orleans/Southern culture and 1920s aesthetic. This was the most perfect blend of the two. The place is beautifully decorated and feels expensive and stylish even though the menu is very reasonably priced. The food was delicious - both myself and my partner loved what we had. I was especially thrilled as I haven’t been able to eat Jambalaya since going Veggie as I’ve never found decent substitutes, but the vegan one Nola offers is perfect. Lovely dessert and they even gave me a sweet card and treat once they learned it was my birthday. Our servers were very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was everything I wanted. Honestly couldn’t recommend it highly enough, and I’m only gutted we live far from York and won’t be able to go back for a while!

Picked this place out based on the Tripadvisor reviews and had a nice early lunch with my family. Interesting concept of small plates of classic cajin/creole classics plus plenty of fish and sea food. Something for everyone depending on what you fancy. The highlights for us, the gumbo, the calamari, the blue cheese iceberg wedge and the teriyaki salmon. Whilst these are smaller plates for sure, they are not as small as tapas plates so a couple of dishes and some sides and you are good. They have a nice brunch menu to with po-boy sandwiches which I’d like to go back and try. The venue is nice a well, think it would be worth visiting in the evening. Overall, nice lunch spot in York.

Loved it, really classy venue and great food

Everything about this place is spot on. From initially contacting the venue via email to book for our anniversary months in advance, to the service from all the staff who greeted and served us all night. The food was absolutely outstanding, all the dishes were perfect. My wife's particular stand out was the pecan pie, and as I consider myself an Espresso Martini conosuier, the ones we had here were the best I've ever tried. We booked our table for food and to include the luce jazz. I'm not sure exactly who we saw perform (13.10.23) but these guys were also fantastic, set the mood perfectly and were also really friendly and approachable, we had a lovely chat with the them at the end of their set. All in all, thus was the perfect place for a perfect evening and if I could score more than 5 stars on Google, I would.

Lovely service and my super fussy gf said the beef medallions were the best she'd ever had.
