Rustique in Richmondshire

Loved this restaurant. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and lovely staff. Will definitely be back!

Had a lovely late lunch here mid-week. There’s the choice to eat off the lunch or main menu and great choices across both. We both enjoyed our meals, but the mussels were the star of the meal - they were so tasty and the broth was so amazing that I ended up polishing off both the fries and the baguette whilst enjoying it!

2nd time we've eaten here and again the food was wonderful. If I could mention just one fault make the main course slightly smaller, it's a struggle to fit a dessert in and it would be criminal to miss out on this. Lovely atmosphere and attentive and friendly staff 5 stars all the way.

1 word... Absolutely amazing 👏 Food, service, quality, and value for money...Tick, tick, tick and tick. Dog friendly too.

My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic lunch here. The champagne and wine were excellent, as were the mussels (super fresh). The staff were excellent and I loved the cafe atmosphere. The tart tatin is definitely recommended. The lunch menu is great and there is a set menu in the evening, lots of specials too. We will definitely be back.

Table of 5, we had a brilliant evening, the food was amazing & the atmosphere perfect. The staff could not do enough, so friendly & looked happy in their work, which made our visit even more relaxed. Could not fault anything from the start of our evening to the end. Well done to everyone.

What an absolute breath of fresh air this restaurant is, fabulous atmosphere, fabulous food and best of all, great staff !!!, you could easily drift away and think you where in Paris !!!, Brilliant !!

Our first time at this restaurant. I have a gluten allergy and dairy intolerance, and was able to have a starter, main, and dessert without issue. Our waitress was very attentive and talked me through my options. I had the calamari for a starter and they did my boyfriend's mushrooms so that I could have some too, and even gave me some gluten free bread. I then had the seabass and some sorbet. Really good experience and I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also, super reasonable on the cost.

Good quality traditional French food well executed with efficient and polite waiting staff. We returned a few nights later to explore the menu further. What better recommendation can I give? The duck was especially good. Sound wine list at reasonable prices too.

We always dine at Rustique when we're in Richmond. Tonight we had the fixed menu, very good value. We both had the mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce, then I had the Brittany style chicken and my husband had boeuf bourguignon, both very tasty. Unfortunately we were too full to have dessert on this occasion, but have enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding previously. The staff are absolutely lovely and we enjoy the experience of eating in a faux little Parisien street. Would definitely recommend.

A delightful French themed restaurant. Very friendly staff, super atmosphere and great menu. All the food we had was fabulous and we finished every bit of it. Starters (mushrooms and salmon) mains (sea bass and duck) desserts (Lemon posset and crème brûlée) Recommended to us by the host of the B&B we were staying at and a great choice So good we returned the next evening, why risk a different restaurant when you find one you really like, will be back if we visit Richmond again

Our first visit ro this restaurant last week for lunch. On arrival we had a warm welcome and promptly served drinks and ordered our food. Starters were good. Pate was homemade and tasty but the French bread was disappointing as soft not crusty and I would have preferred it warm but perhaps that's just me. My partner had squid which was lovely. It was my main dish that really let down the meal. The chicken had not had the sinew removed so had that chewy off putting part left in and the sauce had split with a very acidic flavour. My partner had the beef bourgingon which was fine although a small portion with not much beef. Our bill with 4 glasses of wine was £80 which was is not bad.

We booked this restaurant on the basis of its menu for 5.30 last Tuesday on our day out to Richmond. As the weather turned to rain we arrived a little early which was no problem to the restaurant and we received a very warm welcome. It’s a quite unusual place and where we sat may have been a passage from one street to another My wife chose beef burgeon, I settled on the duck breast with dauphinois potatoes and red cabbage. The duck was served pink with crispy skin and was probably the best I’ve had. We both enjoyed the taste , quality and presentation along with the service by the young ladies. Both of us had crème brûlée for dessert and unbeknown to me, my wife had told the staff it was my birthday so out came mine with a candle and a happy birthday from the waitress. We’d seriously recommend Rustique and hope to return in future Thanks to all for a great meal.

Not on the main square, but worth trying. The food is very good and the service and atmosphere is great. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access that I could see (but ask the staff). There is plenty of seating but book up at busy times.

Nice food, albeit a bit limited for vegetarian/vegan options. Staff very friendly but service unfortunately slow - need more staff on a weeknight. Lovely ambience.

Our second holiday in Yorkshire we discovered Rustique on the previous visit and it didn't disappoint on this visit

An absolutely fantastic place to eat. Great look as you walk in. Very polite staff and not rushed to order. The food is mouthwaterinly good. It's pricey but when you have great surroundings and the food is out of this world it's very much worth the cost. I would highly recommend

My wife and I had the two course set menu for £20.95 which was absolutely amazing value for money. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following day for lunch. The service, ambience and food couldn’t’ be faulted, we can’t wait to return.

We went for dinner on Friday evening. Food was delicious, service excellent. Definitely returning soon.

Having not been here for an age we decided to give it a go. My it was good. The staff were very happy and friendly and the food was really tasty. The steaks were perfectly cooked and tender and the accompanying sauce great too, not overpowering the meat. Definitely go back

What an unexpected visit the feeling of being in a Paris street with the wall mural and pictures added to the day. My gluten free food was delicious most of the menu was perfect for me I didn't have to feel 'different ' staff very friendly and obliging. Booking is recommended. Will be returning

This restaurant transport's French cuisine into the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Richmond. It's absolutely Spot on! My family love coming here and we travel from Durham to visit. It's got so many quantities like the authentic food, ambience, friendly service, menu, environment and it's dog friendly which we love. My dad loves dogs and it always feels like a little adventure going there not knowing which of our canine buddies are going to be there. 🙂 The manager is so dedicated and it shows! 💞 Thankyou for also giving us another reason to do our 80 mile round trip ❤️

This used to be my all time favourite restaurant in Richmond, somewhere for special occasions or to take visiting friends when they were staying. But it’s off my list. It was always a little inconsistent but last night was dreadful really. The food was okay hence 3 stars not 2, but there were constant mistakes with the order. Made a mistake with the starters, main and drinks. One main didn’t arrive until everyone else had finished theirs - no real acknowledgment of this by staff - some excuse about the chef not being happy with it so didn’t want it to go out. I suspect it was forgotten or missed. Sadly I won’t be returning

Had a meal last night and it was delicious. We had scallops and moules to start, the white wine, garlic and cream broth was beautifully moorish and I polished the lot off with bread and my spoon! For mains we had the steak and venison. My venison was awesome, cooked perfectly with gorgeous vegetables and a fondant potato. The jus was out of this world. Polished off with a tasty Beaujolais Villages we were stuffed and Eley treated us a sample of her freshly made roulade with raspberry coulis. All beautiful. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough from sitting under a tree on a Parisian street to the delicious food. Worth every single penny if you’re visiting Richmond. Thanks Eley and team for making our night.

My birthday a special treat...! And was it. An outstanding place. Outstanding front end staff wanting to please, with food unequalled at this price point imho. Tomato soup and goats cheese soup French bread.... Outstanding. Main being beef bourguignon similarly amazing with red wine... A clean environment and toilets there's nothing but good here. Recommended? Miss this gem at your peril, outstanding no qualms.

Lovely staff and atmosphere, fairly slow from the kitchen and hot food served on cold plates! We're told should have asked for hot plates. Really, never heard that before. Cost them the tip.

I have eaten in Rustique 3 times now and have loved everything I've had. The food is made from good quality ingredients and is cooked really well. Service is always good.

Got the set of champignons, fish pie and sticky toffee pudding. Garlic mushrooms were tasty. Loved the fish pie...nice assortment of stuff, think it even had scallops in it. Sticky toffee pudding had a caramelised richness. The 2 pieces of kamb cutlets were less impressive, but the gravy, mash and broccoli with it were nice. Warm speedy service. Ambience and music relaxing. Would revisit for the set menu and order exactly the same set.

What a cracking little restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, great authentic French food and very attentive staff. Would recommend!

I'm sure this place could be good for a casual couples night out – but it wasn't for us. When we walked in and asked for a table at 8pm, we were told we would have to be out by 9pm as they were cleaning the extractors – not a great start! But, we wanted to eat something, so we held on. A delicious starter of goat's cheese – so all good. My husband had ordered the sea bass but ended up being served the fish pie (the waitress apologised (probably more interested in serving us as quickly as possible!)) – watery and under-seasoned. I ordered the steak frites - the frites were great, as was the peppercorn sauce, but the steak was as tough as old boots. Totally inedible. To her credit (without any request), the waitress knocked the mains of the bill. But you get the feeling that being number one restaurant in Richmond on Trip Advisor can cause complacency and, indeed, that wasn't in our favour tonight at all.

This is a really lovely place for a nice meal. The food and service were great and lovely decorations makes you feel like you are sitting in the streets of Paris. We had confit of duck and dauphinoise potatoes and it was delicious. Highly recommend

This is a great restaurant for a celebration meal. Interesting menu choices. Friendly attentive service, without being too fussy. Excellent quality food. I’m glad we booked in advance. Our second visit, taking family this time for an Anniversary meal. The meal was appreciated by all.

Love this place. Been coming for years. But, ladies please give the ladies and gents a good clean ! No attention paid to the whole of the bathroom facilities. The cleaning let’s the place down. Food and service fabulous.

A hidden gem tucked behind a row of shops just off the main square in Richmond, this French bistro offered a great selection on their al a carte menu and also a 2 course for £18.95 which we both went for. The food, served by the attentive and friendly staff was fantastic. We were served quickly but never felt pushed, in fact quite the opposite. On a cold Tuesday in March this friendly place was a lovely place to spend a few hours eating and chatting in a relaxing atmosphere. One thing I would say though, if you are going here I would recommend you book to avoid disappointment. Would we go again...100% yes.

We ate here during our stay in Richmond and were so impressed that we cancelled our booking elsewhere for the following evening and came again! Lovely little place with a great atmosphere and decor and lovely staff, but it’s the food that really matters and it’s great. The best French cooking is simple but full of flavour and Le Rustique have nailed it. Don’t visit Richmond without eating here!

Beautiful meal, lovely place and staff

This place is beautiful, it’s like being on Holliday, it was my first visit not booked by me but someone else in the party who had come along way. The staff were really nice and accommodating the food would have had 10 out of 10 it tasted great, but how can parts of your dish be piping hot whilst the meat stone cold, unfortunately my husband had the same dish as me and he never complains but on this occasion was really disapointed his meat was also cold. Good food worth the money dispite a cost of living crisis a treat, only afforded to us on special occasions, my friends birthday, she spent the last 30 mins in the bathroom before we left thought her chicken might be the reason. My husband then vanished followed by another friend for another 20 minutes. So far so good, I must be made of stronger stuff. Didn’t leave a tip, yes the food was tasty and the place lovely including the staff, I said it was like being on Holliday but didn’t expect deli belly. Sorry cold meat not good enough in a cost of living crisis, it’s dog eat dog out there only the best will survive.

As much as I enjoy a regular meal at this great restaurant. Please could I ask the cleaners, owners and staff to give the loo’s a good clean !!! No attention to detail. Please invest in a. Brush, cloth, mop and buscmety. Your loo lets the restaurant down !

One of our absolute favourite spots to visit. Great menu, great service and a wonderful venue that is thoughtfully designed and beautiful to sit in.

We just had an early tea/late lunch. I had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and a great piece of meat. My partner had the duck, which was succulent and very tasty. Crème brulé and sticky toffee pudding for desert, both of which were delicious. I'd definitely go back if we are ever in the area again.

Food was good, service from one of the two waitresses was lackluster and poor. Lack of knowledge, forgetting the order for a cheese board. We eventually asked for the bill and left. The management will be able to determine to whom I refer.

We went there on Saturday for lunch. The service was good and professional but a little slow. The important thing: the food. The food was divine. You have a 2 or 3 course set menu, A la Carte and lunch menu. We chose the set menu. I had doup of the day, which was brocvoli and blue cheese. It was served with fresh baguette and was very tasty. Later I had salmon croquettes which were absolutely gorgeous when dipped in the tartar sauce. My pudding was creme brulee. God, it was good. Toilets are clean, and we paid £60 for a pair of wonderful lunches, including tea and coffee. I strongly recommend this place and will come again.

Had the set menu. Every morsel was fabulous and it was hard to choose. The service was exceptional and the vibe was good. I'd go again.

A friend and I went for an evening meal and a good natter. Staff were very pleasant, friendly, attentive when needed (not overbearing as can be in some places) and had good banter, made our evening out very enjoyable. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection. They have an excellent menu. They also had some really nice wines. I wholeheartedly recommend Rustique in Richmond, N Yorks and if opportunity comes around, I wouldn't hesitate in returning for another meal. Apparently there's a Rustique in York too.

A truly amazing foodie experience. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Richmond but a French one was on our to do list. The food was delicious. We even would do a 2 hour round trip to experience the food again. Staff were super busy but really friendly. Massive thumbs up and we will be back. Exceptional food.

My partner and I visited on 19th February and had the 2 course set meal. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the crème brûlée was incredible too. Lovely atmosphere and decoration, and the staff were great too. Can’t fault it!

A generally good meal at this rather quaint French restaurant. Nicely cooked steak, but chips a little underdone. The steak was priced at nearly £30, yet there was an additional charge of £2.50 for the accompanying sauce which felt a bit steep. My dessert was a very delicious lemon tart.

Having explored the restaurants in Richmond, we chose Rustique for Lisa's birthday meal and we are so glad we did. The restaurant is beautiful, the service is friendly and efficient, yet unobtrusive, the wine was excellent, and the food......!!! This restaurant provided some of the best food we've eaten out for quite some time. We both had the French Onion Soup (a personal favourite for both of us) and it did not disappoint - the flavours were perfectly balanced and the generous croutons were just right. For mains, Lisa had the duck breast and I had the Calve's Liver, both of which were absolutely delicious. The Liver was among the best I've ever had! Both dishes were served with a perfectly complementary selection of potato and vegetable - different on each dish. We finished with a shared board of French cheeses - served at the perfect temperature with rustic bread and a delicious home made onion chutney. Definitely our favourite Richmond restaurant!

We have previously eaten here before and enjoyed the food so we came back. We both ordered the two course special dishes. I ordered the calamari for a starter and my husband ordered the pate. My calamari was over cooked and rubbery. The pate was very nice. I had fish pie. This came with a side of salad leaves. The sauce was nice but some of the fish was again over cooked especially the prawns. The beef dish was good. I don’t understand why they serve a hot fish pie with salad leaves. Surely a side of vegetables is more appropriate. We did get a 10% discount for the over cooked calamari. Which was appreciated. Although maybe check the fish before serving in future .

First time going to Rustique today and what a lovely place! Had a starter & main from the set menu for lunch, along with a bottle of bubbles, the food the was piping hot, flavoursome, and perfect portion size. The waitress was very attentive & friendly. Sat in the courtyard area which is fabulously decorated with all things French!! Everywhere was perfectly clean…including the toilets, which for me is a representation of the cleanliness in other areas within a restaurant!! The set menu was excellent value for money. It’s also very doggy friendly 🐶 water bowls were provided also. All in all a perfect experience and will certainly be back, Thankyou to all the staff.

We spotted this restaurant on a walk around RIchmond and booked in during our few days stay in the area. Dog friendly which was a bonus. Lovely courtyard and the staff were very friendly. There were locals in that clearly go a lot and you could see they loved the place. Good choice of options. We had snails, Camembert and spicy sausage dishes to start and then duck, lemon sole and steak as mains which we all enjoyed. Reasonably priced and a set menu as well which well priced. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

All round excellent experience. Great service, superb food and great value. The two course menu deal is amazing value at £17.95. The sea bass was beautifully cooked and all the flavours blended superbly. We were well looked after by Jill / Gill. Interesting wine menu too.

Rustique - always a must-go-to on our trips to Richmond, we were not disappointed last Wednesday evening. Again, we loved the ambience, the decor and delicious food. A special thank you to the only waitress on duty. There wasn’t an empty table throughout our time there and she did an amazing job, always with a smile.

Seated in the covered courtyard, that out door feeling in a comfortable area. Pleasant atmosphere. Service excellent by friendly cheerful staff. Many thanks for a lovely evening Mr Jenkins and guest.

Fantastic, I have been 3 times in the last week, one of our favourite places. 2 courses 17.95 or 3 courses for an extra £5, there is also a separate lunch menu and a separate evening menu if you don't want the 2/ 3 course menu. Service great, staff great, and food delicious, it's a nice place to go for a special occasion as the decor is pretty.

Table service left a lot to be desired about, eg attitude of the waitress left me feeling uncomfortable, honestly I wouldn’t want her representing my restaurant. I over heard the waitress saying charge them anywhere??? When we finally got the bill on looking at it we were over charged, which got corrected when I pointed it out. The steak wasn’t cooked as pre ordered. I think the service overall really does need to be looked at by the management. There was no front of house greeting which I would have expected for a restaurant in such a classy location. Sadly disappointed by this restaurant, I will not be taking my service there again.

Visited at 4 pm on a Saturday and it was very quiet. As we ate people were turned away with the staff saying they were fully booked. Our staff member was lovely and friendly. I had the sea bass and my wife had a chicken dish and were impressed by the quality. £63 for 2 mains and deserts 2 beers and a large wine. We will be back

The atmosphere is nice and cosy here. The sea bass fillet dish that one of us had was really good but the rest of us felt that the salmon croquettes were too big and a little dry. Service is a little slow but there are only 2 staff serving the whole restaurant, and although it isn’t a large restaurant they struggled a bit.

We had a gorgeous 3 course meal at Rustique. Started with the French soup (I don’t usually go for a soup starter) and it was lovely. Then had duck and finished with Creme Brûlée. The whole experience was lovely. Food was really tasty and portion...
