Salt of the earth manager who helped me out when my car battery failed & wouldn't take a bean for his time ( & wasn't even a guest. ) If I was looking for a Hotel in Hawes Cocketts would be top of my list.

Booked a night stay here as part of a buyagift voucher and it did not disappoint. firstly when we turned up to check in there was loads of motorbikes blocking the parking out front but a quick check with the owner he advised us where to park. then check in was nice and simple and was also shown to our room and was given advise on places to get dinner from. the room itself was very clean and cosy, nice large comfortable bed with a view of the hills out the window. bathroom was very clean and the shower was great once it warmed up. breakfast in the morning was very nice and with a great selection of fruits, cereals and cooked breakfast. location is perfect for exploring the lovely village and for the wensleydale creamery. would defiantly recommend and would stay again if ever going to that part of the world again.

Fantastic location on the market place in Hawes with plenty of free parking. Walkable to all the shops, Wensleydale Creamery and plenty of pubs. The en-suite room was large, very comfortable with good TV, WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. The room was clean and nicely presented but probably needs updating and refreshing soon. The breakfast was fantastic as were all the staff. We also stopped at The Crown pub for food and got 20% discount off food😁

What a dump.. What looks like a idilic location from outside soon turns in to hell when you walk in. Room was grotty, freezing cold with ripped wall paper a shower that so weak it takes 30 mins to damp your hair!! Wifi none existent and walls so thin you can hear every conversation in every room I could go on but even boring myself. The food is supposed to be lovely but going by the state of the room I think I'd rather eat out a dog bowl on the side of the street than risk the culinary delights. Tried bringing these issues up with the staff and they refused to swap us rooms or give a refund so we could go stay somewhere else. Hawes is a gorgeous place just don't ruin your stay by booking here.

Breakfast poor. Served by 2 youngsters who hadn't a clue. Doesn't deserve 5 star rating

We came to Wensleydale Creamery and had the cheesy afternoon tea. Was a big fan of the Mac and Cheese. The dessert course was good, but not excellent. The cheesecake was nice but very rich.

After reading great reviews I called in here on Monday March 27 2023 looking for lunch. Very pleasant and polite member of staff informed me that the restaurant is no longer open to serve daytime meals since they shut at the the end of last season

Quirky for sure but very friendly and very keen to please. The soup we had was delicious and having leaf tea was a treat. Scones on the table is a lovely idea but a cover would be better. Lovely chat with the proprietor and really good at engaging with our whole family.

Family meal for birthday celebration, 11 of us. Booked well in advance, just as well as it’s quite a small restaurant, and they were absolutely full. Pleasant venue. We were asked to send our orders in advance, being a large group. This all went smoothly, good communication from Dave with advice about dishes. Lovely table in the window. Complimentary prawn crackers served with the drinks. We had a selection of starters, all delicious. Our mains covered most of the menu, again very tasty and authentic. Staff were attentive eg when more drinks needed, despite being very busy. We didn’t stay for desserts as we had birthday cake waiting at home but they provided a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl, and amarettos all round. A fine evening, thanks to everyone working there. Only criticism was that the room temperature was a bit warm- and to our surprise the radiator was still on!! We don’t live in Richmond but would definitely be back if we did.
