The food is gorgeous, friendly staff, great atmosphere, service was excellent, less than 10 minutes walk from train station

Despite it being a wet Tuesday afternoon, the combination of tasty food and great value prices seems to have attracted a loyal following at Parish. First impressions were good, all tables clean and ready for diners. It’s a big venue but busy enough to have a welcoming atmosphere (spooktacular seasonal decor too). Menu offers a great combo of pizzas, burgers, loaded fries and snacky sides. We went for the Pizza deal (we chose fresh pizza, spicy chicken wings, salt n pepper fries and two pints of Becks), menu price £24. Unbeknown to us the midweek deal is offered at £20. A total steal! The food was great and generous portions. The staff were all really pleasant and cheery. Not just a student place, plenty of space for families and dogs. A really good option in the Hudd.

Excellent food, the chips were fresh. Very nice!!! Had the parish hot sauce it was okay lol I will try the next one when I come back. But friendly, warm and great food

Booked to see Spunge play at Parish and wasn't planning on eating there until we got a discount voucher for going to a gig there - I'm so glad we did cos the food was amazing. Both of us got burgers, both were amazing - so tasty! The hand cooked chips were really great - some of the best I've had. The service was super and the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend! Just a shame we live so far away from it! What a gem.

I mean, they don’t know my name, but it’s got that vibe, y’know? Sometimes walking into a bar feels like you’re Clint Eastwood going into the saloon where everyone’s gonna try shooting you for ordering a whisky. Parish is more like I imagine Cheers is. I say imagine because, to be honest, I’ve never actually watched Cheers I just know the theme tune and something about Sam and Diane. I think maybe Frasier was in it, too, but I’ve never watched that either. He seems like he’d annoy me. Anyway, yeah, Parish, it’s pretty cool, y’know? It’s got like a rock aesthetic going on, so it stands out from a lot of other bars, and there’s always something going on to keep things interesting. Fancy going to a gig? They’ve got ‘em. Quiet drink? Sure, go for it. Louder but still respectful drink? Of course! Pub quiz? They got you covered. Burgers? You bet! Pizzas? Absolutely! Other food items? I’ve never eaten them, but I guess so! Comedy nights? Yep, even those. Water slides? No, I don’t think they have one of those, but it’s really all they’re missing and I don’t think it’s worth knocking off points for. Oh, and the staff are really nice too, but not like that fake nice that can be disconcerting. (Though I try not to judge bar staff and waiters and the like too much anyway unless they’re literally shouting at me or something because they put up with a lot of nonsense in their job, and I know I sure as heck couldn’t do it). In conclusion, I would rank this establishment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It’s the ‘Puss In Boots: The Last Wish’ of Huddersfield bars in that it’s a surprisingly good time, and it makes you feel all nice inside.

Wonderful food, great drinks, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We will be back to enjoy more of what's in offer. Couldn't recommend enough.

I've been to a fair few gigs at The Parish in last couple of years and Mikey and The Team are TOP in my opinion. Constantly on the look-out for what's cropping up next and I know there's more just round the corner. Long may it continue,keep up the GREAT work chaps !

Came here to watch The Red Rum Club. Had food - shared a veggie pizza ( probs best pizza I’ve ever had ) and shared chicken wings and salt and pepper chips. Food was great and the staff are lovely. Will defo be back

This venue is one of the best mid sized music venues I’ve ever been to. The staff, security and facilities are amazing. The food is amazing and the prices of food and drinks are extremely reasonable. If you like a band and they are doing a set at the parish I would recommend travelling here even if there is a gig much closer to home. Privately owned, none corporate venues like this one are rare in the uk and this one in particular deserves your support. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful staff, good beer and a great band, last seen in 1991! I went to the Parish to see the Wedding Present, due to complications I was meeting my other half there, he had my ticket on his phone. The staff were so kind and helpful, they went above and beyond for me. Helping me to be reunited and getting to see the band. Thank you!

Just ordered their bourbon burger via Uber Eats. Burger was v dry and the deep fried bacon on the burger was horrible. Hand cut chips were v oily. I will not use their offerings again.

Was at the halloween night in parish. Was amazing and the whole staff especially Rhianna (or rhiannon i cant tell) was brilliant. She was professional and provided great cuatomer service and she was friendly, she was awesome

Great burger!! Had the classic and asked for a added extra of feta on,juicy fresh salad and a ace burger sauce on a fresh bun.The chips.....well they’re proper!!! Like the sort of chips your drunk uncle tries to make in a chip pan that’s not been cleaned since bullseye was on telly and burns his house down.this is a good thing though.If your drunk uncle didn’t burn house down they were PROPER CHIPS!!!!!!All washed down with a magic rock while death metal attacked my ears.Bliss

Pop in most wednesday evenings for food. I always order the Stairway to heaven burger. I recommend this burger. Keep telling myself to try anothet burger but keep getyong drawn to it. Order the buffalo wongs today aswell and they are very tasty.

After reading previous reviews and being 48 I was a bit dubious about visiting here to see a band .However I can’t fault the place we got served straight away,staff were friendly and there were people of all ages in.We didn’t eat just had drinks then moved through to the little gig venue out the back which was an amazing little place to watch a band.Yes the toilets were covered in graffiti but hey it gave them character. If you are older don’t be put off by some previous reviews.

I suppose as 55+ we have no right to comment on what was basically a student pub but we were staying in a hotel opposite and wanted a late nearby drink. We could hear the music from our room and being a old rock fan thought we'd try it out. Lager and wine were ok. Music was super extremely grungy but pub was packed so customers obviously liked it. However, the ladies loos wee the worst I've ever seen. Completely graffitied to the extent there was nowhere else to scratch your name in and outside the 4+ cubicles. No look seats and to make matters worse, no loo roll to clean around and the wet puddles around the loo base let alone wipe yourself! Young or old like us, if you go here ladies, don't go to the toilet!!!

The DJ is thoughtful with people’s requests and often people leave happy with the music selection on a night. The live music next door in The Venue is just known for being the best of its kind locally.

This pub, is a student haven, if you are over 25 forget it. Quiet during the day, its one saving grace is it stays open late, we are talking 2, 3am or more. That said unless you are a big fan of grunge and heavy heavy HEAVY metal, the music is excruciatingly bad. Ask for a normal ish metal band or song, lets say AC/DC and the DJ will look at you like you have just wafted a bad smell under his nose and wont play it, its a shame. Most evenings I have been in you have approx 5 people digging it and 45 trying to cover their ears and wishing they had some earplugs. Drinks are an extortionate price too, £3.50-£4.50 a pint, but you can get a CAN (thats CAN) of Carling for £2.50, yeah £10 a 4 pk, value it aint. The toilets are bad, generally I could only recommend it to 3 categories of people, 1. those whom the words melody, tune, rhythm or dance, don't exist...2. If your stylie is to have those tiddlywinks stuck in your earlobes, long hair, and or too many tats, wear a hat with a feather stuck in it, have a pony tail (blokes) or be with one of them fellas (girls).....3.If you are so desperate for a drink you will put up with all the a fore mentioned.

I have been coming here for years, it used to be enjoyable. Service always used to be top. Recently gone down hill, staff drinking on shift and being rude, taking more than 15 minutes to be served stood waiting at the bar when not even busy, too intrigued in his own chat with other staff.

Saturday night at 10pm - very quiet for a town centre pub but great music playing and good choice of drinks. Service was very slow considering the number of people there. Bar staff standing drinking rather than serving. Pub was a bit grubby but G and T was good and got fresh lime in it.

And I mean an actual waste of time, we stood at the bar for no less than 15 minutes waiting to be served before walking out in disgust. Of course it was packed, there was a football match going on but they decided to use two people behind the bar and while it must’ve been hard work, they didn’t have a clue and left large areas of the bar without service.

My hubby and I came here one evening for a few drinks. There is a great selection of real ales and although we haven't had any food here the menu looks superb. Also a music venue as well. Well worth a visit. Always made to feel welcome.

What a place! The best small music venue in Huddersfield (possibly Yorkshire). Its a pub with a cool beer garden and a separate music venue.

The Parish is a shabby pub but don't be fooled. We had the el pasajero food and it was fab! Really excellent food, go try it! Super cheap, excellent service. No frills casual place. We had a vegan in the group and there was lots of delicious options for her.

The Parish is an exceptional place, with fantastic food (The quesadillas are amazing, as are the burgers), great choice of drinks to suit every taste and cracking music. The venue side of it is also great, with some really good and interesting acts on. Don't think I have gone longer than a week without coming here since the day I turned 18.

Grabbed a quick lunch with a friend at Parish this week after hearing good things about the food, but was left disappointed. Ordered a taco which was the size of my palm for £2.50 which I thought was a bit excessive...if you got a plateful like on the main photo on here you'd be paying £15 which is more than if you went to an actual Mexican restaurant. Maybe I'm just being tight but it just seemed a bit pretentious for pub grub. The taco itself wasn't bad but pretty average. I also ordered a side of guac that was £3.50 which, again, is expensive for a dip! Again, it came on a palm size hard tortilla. It was more like crushed avocado with no seasoning than guac...very bland.

I've been to the Parish on a number of occasions and I love the place. Staff are friendly, they keep their real ale very well and their selection of craft beer is huge. Price-wise it's very reasonable. Where else can you get a delicious taco for just £2.20??The background music, whilst loud, is stuff I listen to and the food is great - superb burgers and tacos - what's not to like?! AND they have a GREAT little venue out back for live music for not just local acts but also some well-known international bands. The Bouncing Souls played there!!The Parish would definitely be my local if...I didn't live so far away. 11/11.

The burritos are unreal!!!! I have been to mexico and i can safley say the burritos in the parish are even better! All the other food from there quesadillas all the way to the burgers all of it is amazing! Come down and try it yourself garenteed theres nothing els like it!

Just love coming here. We regularly come for midweek tea and it's always great. This week however the burger was outstanding. Cooked to perfection lovely and pink. Loving the retro plates. The staff are always just lovely and friendly. This place has such a great atmosphere and is really welcoming. Not often you find a place that bridges all ages.

This was the send trip to Huddersfield and our second time to eat in the parish, the menu is good with plenty of choice at reasonable prices.Opted for a couple of various burgers and chips, large portions again, however this time I was a little disappointed to see that the chips and the burger were over cooked. Although to be fair I still ate it all.The pub has live music on weekends, a decent pint and a good atmosphere, we had a few more rounds of drinks after the meal prior to moving onto another bar.Would I use the bar again, most definitely, would I eat again, probably yes but the standard of food needs to be better.

I've been coming here for years but since the menu was updated recently and 'El Pasajero' came out. Amazing. The quesadillas are so so good. Absolutely full to the brim with delicious flavours. Forget the fact that this is a rock bar. Forget the fact that the smell of last night lingers in the place.THE FOOD IS UNBELIEVABLE.Mexican food to rival Wahacas in London. Four of us had four tacos, two quesadillas and six sides to share for £21! Vegan and gluten-free are catered for carefully and tastily. Our favourite was the beetroot fritter taco.I can't recommend the food enough.

Been going to parish for a long time and I can honestly say it's a safe haven for difference. You can be who you you want to be and not feel judged and you can enjoy the other people around you not judging. Got a pool table and great music. The staff are fun and really good people. Cocktails and speciality beers... You can't go wrong!

An alternative bar for people who appreciate good food, good music, cheap drinks and at times hilarious bathroom wall graffiti. Staff are friendly enough and I'd definitely recommend the burgers.

Outstanding bar and atmosphere (of the rock and punk variety) but the day time food is basic (although well cooked and tasty) isnt spoiled for choice. Service is generally good. I've come many times for drinks, but pass on the food. Overall, i would recommend at least trying it

We first came here last year and I reviewed then. We've been back a few times since to have the great burgers and home cooked chips but writing again to review the new Mexican menu. In a word it's fab. We brought my husband's lad here and he didn't come up for air when he was eating his lunch. Great selection of sides - the guacamole is gorgeous, chunky bits of avocado - rich and tasty. The staff are so friendly - and there's a great atmosphere here. Brilliant pub.

Stayed for the Monday night pub quiz whilst visiting a friend. Big fan of the hipster vibe- loved the decor and music. Really interesting menu- ordered a burrito which wasn't the best I've ever had but to be fair we didn't come here for the food. The zombie cocktail is a MUST, as are the tacos

Very impressed with the new Latin American menu at the Parish. The range of meat, veggie and vegan on the menu is well balanced, the food is excellent, and the whole is amazing value (four of us ate and drank well for £40. Unbelievable.)The best burgers in Huddersfield are still available, but for carnivores like us the vegan elements of the new menu were a revelation – the lentil chorizo with lime crema and radish tastes nothing like lentils and lots like bursting with flavour, and who’d have thought kale (‘Guatemalan Day of the Dead salad’) could be so interesting (some might even say so remotely palatable …) Highlights of the non-vegan dishes were the seared rump steak with garlic and spice rub and the quesadillas (to die for). Staff very helpful with menu choices, and there is a specials board.The Parish looks a bit unassuming from the outside, but inside it has lots of character, friendly staff and great beer. We’ll be back.

Ate here today at lunch time, not being familiar with this type of cooking we asked for guidance which was willingly given. We were served a selection of dishes to share, all of them truly delicious.Good range of beers available, will be back to try more of the menu.

I love the burgers, good quality for the price, chips very nice and homemade, drinks are great, bar staff friendly. Atmosphere is alternative, very much student atmosphere to me, but always see people of all ages here. Good for an after lecture pint and burger, or for nachos with the quiz. I recommend you give it a try.

Flies around all the tables hovering around what could only be desribed as probbably unwiped surfaces or unwashed condements. Toilets are a joke, empty bags there from when they have obviously been uncleaned and we visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Place stunk. Staff were very friendly and helpful but wouldn't eat here for risk of dying.

You won't find better burgers, beers or even music anywhere else in Huddersfield. Gotta love parish. Plus it is one of the town's only gig venues too.

The Parish is a little hidden gem of a pub, the food is all hand made. I've had many different items from the menu from pizza to burgers to steak and they've always been above expectations. Especially for the price - dinner for two with drinks for £20. They also offer a great selection of real ales and ciders, and the staff are always friendly and happy to help.

It may not be much to look at from the outside.... Or even when you hey in there. The menu is fairly short but these guys have got their burgers down to a science. They're really good with recommending a beer to accompany which ever burger you choose aswel...you know these guys have tried all the stock when you look at them lol. Highly recommended, even my dad raves about it

We went to the Parish as sons band the legendary “Forever Cult” were playing on the night, having already eaten out at Wetherspoons on the afternoon food wasn’t really on the menu for us, however after seeing various dishes leave the kitchen to tables we opted for a pizza and a side of chips.On arrival a good quality, fresh pizza with homemade chips to die for reasonably priced. Very tasty indeed, well worth the money.Forget your cheap and cheerful Wetherspoons when in Huddersfield and give the parish a try, you won’t be disappointed.

The Parish has always been one of the best rock bars around, with its cool atmosphere and huge drink selection. Now they serve amazing food it's even better. It's by far the best place to eat in its price range. We had 2 drinks, 2 meals and an extra side dish, and the bill was under £20. The portions aren't small either. I definitely recommend giving it a try

What's not to love? Great food, try theme challenge! It's definitely an ambition. They serve proper ale, from local micro brewery's. There are usually some good, local bands. A top night, definitely returning regularly.

I was in the parish today decided to have a pizza and Tommy the owner made the best pizza ever I say if you ever want a pizza ask Tommy the owner to make it every time your are in there he took great pride in making the pizza

I have been here afew times with friends for drinks at the beginning of the night and not really thought much of it but then again im a 41 year old woman who struggles to stay awake past 12am these days!!! But as a mother of a 19 old I decided to give the place a chance for food during the day, I wasnt disappointed 27.50 for 3 meals with drinks was great value and the portion size is huge!!!...they do "real" chips too yayyyy my son and his partner had burgers they looked amazing with plenty of bits and pieces added on, I had chilli beef burrito with a side order of chips and it was fantastic beautifully presented and very tasty!!! ... staff were friendly, good service all I would say give the place a good deep clean get rid of the sticky tables and mucky floors and this place could be really amazing!!!! I would definitely recommend a million times over, dont be put off by the quirkyness of the place!!! ... yummy!!

The burgers are fantastic, I've paid 3 times as much for a burger in huddersfield and it has been nowhere near as good as a "Parish Burger" in fact I'd say the parish burger was 3x as good for 1/3 of the price!Don't miss out

Go here all the time, it has the best value for food around, the best service, the best customers, the best music and is just fab! Always have the craziest nights here and wouldn't chose anywhere else as my local!

Cool place - massive selection of great beers, spirits (yum, Plymouth Gin) and decent wine. We were intending to go elsewhere to eat but were tempted by the smell of food coming out to other tables. We weren't disappointed and my burger was very tasty. The husband loved the pizza. The chips were proper, twice cooked potato and amazing. In my mind you would be mad to take the upgrade to American or curly fries...... Really great service by a knowledgeable bar man topped it off. A little studenty for some maybe but we loved it.......

They also have an excellent range of real ales and a couple of craft beers. They regularly have bands on and the atmosphere is great. If the gave the toilets a good scrub it would be perfect.

I regularly go to the parish with my partner and/or friends and have always enjoyed it. It looks like a dive from the outside and it is a little rough round the edges but the service is always friendly, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is always great.I rated 4 stars, only because sometimes the music is very loud when you are trying to eat but I understand, they need to cater to diners and drinkers.The parish is a great local pub and it really supports local talent. Give it a go!
