Charmaine's Caribbean Cafe in Kirklees

The food wasn’t great the chicken was chewy and not much flavour & the dumpling I got was well over fried & hard, Charmaine her self seems ok and the place is clean is reasonably priced also but the food is pretty poor for a Caribbean place if I’m honest,I used to come here years back & can see why I stopped eating here hope she can take the positive criticism I’m not trying to attack her business it’s just my honest experience eating here

This place is so good, love eating here we eat here lit every single day love everything about this place.

My parents didn't enjoy the food from here as they usually do. Everything was overdone in their opinion. Usually 5* but just not today.

I've been going here for over 15 years and I went the other day and I was literally robbed of 17 pound was very disappointed she added the bill up 3 times she said and it was right but it was way of she did it in her head she said and I did it on a calculator twice and it was 17 over and il never go again now .shame really

Had the peppered steak from here just now and my mouth is dancing with all the great flavours hands down one of the best peppered steaks Iv had. Would highly recommend if your in Huddersfield area

Wow just wow, just ordered 3x curried chicken rice n peas and fried dumplings. Red hot food and couldn't wait to get home as the car was overwhelmed by the amazing aromatic food. Food looked as good as it smelled and tasted even better, excellent portions and good price. Definitely will be coming back. Thanks so much

Had curried mutton and fried dumpling , it was exquisite. The mutton was cooked perfectly , it just melted in your mouth . The spices were perfect , not too hot but enough for a party in your mouth . 10/10

I had large curry mutton rice pea dumpling coleslaw , i travel all the uk so i try yard food everywhere i go , this blew me away , meat so soft and supple , rice light and moist , dumpling crispy with no grease , coleslaw was amazing , i live 15 miles away but so worth the drive , new regular customer gained

Charmaines is rhe very best Carribean eatery in the Kirklees area. The food is exquisite & you're never left disappointed. There's always a nice & friendly atmosphere in there plus the service is excellent too. Top notch & I rarely visit any other restaurants in the Huddersfield area the offers the same type of cuisine.

Perfect place for great food before a Town match

Called in yesterday on the way home from work. Originally went for the curry lamb but there wasn't enough so the lady offered to mix it with steak and I'm glad she did as the steak was lovely. Got a large portion. And had to leave some as it was plenty big enough. The rice and peas was great and the lamb also very tender and just fell off the bones. Will be sure to call in again the next time I'm over that way.

I give this place a zero customer service rating. It was so poor! The lady who served me couldn't even crack a smile and I would not come back here again! Food was also very bland the only thing nice was the bottled drink

The peppered steak was lovely the reason I've rated 3 stars is because we spent over £40 on food and when we got home to eat we then realised The mac and cheese x3 portions was actually pasta in butter, wasn't any cheese in there at all. we spent £6 pound on patties that were actually frozen and still in the packiging. The dumplings were tough The plantain had been cooked a while earlier and that was reflected in the taste. It was our first time ordering from here and we did so based on reviews but today wasn't the best at all. Really poor i doubt we will return.

First time visitor although heard plenty positive about it. Can’t fault the food whatsoever was absolutely delicious!

My first experience of Charmaine's Caribbean Cafe was on the, 4th July 20.20, the first day of the reopening of most of our pubs and restaurants throughout the UK. It was absolutely brilliant, really fresh tasty food served by friendly safety consious staff. Absolutely brilliant food served at a more than reasonable prices(Excellent).

First time visiting Huddersfield today on business. Got really hungry and came across this gem of a place by luck. Curry mutton was delicious. Nice big portion and friendly staff too. 10/10

Went there the food that was on the menu wasnt ready so had to pic from 3 things that was already cooked staff lady was really rude tried speaking to her and she just walked off to the back like we wernt even there i call that SO DAM IGARENT the food was dry i would never go there again

Its not a bad place to eat. The problem i have is that its not consistant and when you ring to order food they do not do it to your prefrence! Example- asked for minimal bone and fat in my muton but all i got was bone and fat! Wasnt impressed! And everytime i go theres always somthing i want and they dont have it at 5pm when it closes at 9pm? Dont understand that!

Been once before and the food was nice, nothing amazing but nice.. Went back and they had next to nothing in, no curried mutton, fried chicken and a couple of other things. This was at 18:40 and they close at 10 pm.. We offered them luck selling anything else as there wasn't much choice on the menu anyway and left. Unhappy

Every time I'm in me hometown, always buy food from hear. Taste just like how me family used to cook food. Nice 😀😀😀

Excellent food, cooked like 'yard' & 'soul' food should be. I will definitely go again, Stew Chicken & Rice is on-point, man-sized healthy portions!! Prompt service with a smile, I've never been disappointed, give it a try 👍🏾
