Met my family here today for coffee and lunch. We were not permitted to sit on one of the three long vacant sofas inside to avoid the rain outside. We therefore decided not to have proper lunch. Sitting outside, one toasted sandwich, two milkshakes, one coffee and tea cost me well over £30. My French is very good but to describe my Cheese and Tomato toasty just in the French language was absolutely ridiculous and PRETENTIOUS. The person who took our order had no sense of humour and could not have cared less. Owners of this place please note, the most important asset a company has is its staff - and yours looked so overworked. I will not be returning to your plush sofas which customers are not allowed to sit on!

Pleasant enough as far as the 'garden' aspect is concerned although not sure if it was an intentional play on words when observing a sign stating: "Bare with us as our Christmas tree delivery has been delayed", so much for modern day education, faulty Spellcheck or as mostly the case these days staff for whom English is not their first language. As for the café the indifference to customers is as bad as ever, bordering on arrogance because nothing has ever been done about it by those responsible. The service is slow with staff seeming to enjoy operating at a gentle pace that suits themselves, pausing to have little chats with each other & often content to engage in a long conversation with a customer, all the time working hard to avoid eye contact with the usual long queue of customers. It's the indifference that is so overwhelming. The staff need replacing as I suspect they have done the job for too long & imagine they have earnt the right to do as they please. The breakfasts are fabulous but my lasting impression is that I have to pay a price, not for the food but to have to endure the dreadful service.

The tables were not being cleared quickly and the one we sat at had obviously been cleared but not wiped down and the children's colouring from the previous incumbent was still there. There was no one clearing the tables and when we left there were 7 tables inside and 5 outside uncleared because the 3 members of staff were so busy dealing with the busy lunch time. The table service was being managed but just one person. The service was slow and they forgot one of the items ordered. This is in no way a criticism of the staff - they were doing their best. They are clearly understaffed. The millionaires tray bake (£3.49) was sickly, the shortbread was hard and not topped with real chocolate. The victoria sponge (£3.99) sliver - not a slice, was filled with something that was not real buttercream. The strawberry and banana 'smoothie' (£4.99) was thin and separated in the glass almost immediately . The tea (£2.80) was definitely a cheap brand and tasted poor. The mocha (£3.70) was acceptable. To be fair, the main meals did look nice and good sized portions. There is a sign by the entrance asking patrons to wait to be seated but the staff didn't have time to seat people and an elderly lady with a walker had to stand for a bit before seating herself. It's such a pity. This is a lovely setting but, if management are reading this, it's time for an overhaul of your practices and product offering.

Just picked up Haddock & Chips and Battered Sausage, Fish Cakes & Chips. Got it home, it smelled fab but what a disappointment! Although the Fish Cakes were great the chips were only just about ‘ok’ but the real problem was the Haddock and the Battered Sausage. The batter on the fish was rock hard and completely inedible and the fish inside was dry and tasteless. The Battered Sausage was equally poor with thick, hard batter although the sausage was edible. We travelled a 10 mile round trip journey and passed a really good Fish & Chip shop in Partridge Green to collect from Capital because previously we’ve had great food from there. We won’t bother again, next time we’ll go elsewhere.

Did not live up to it's name. Pizza was doughy and, at best, average. Service was ridiculously slow (45 minutes for drinks, 75 minutes for mains) with no apology or concessions. Staff spent time chatting and taking photos instead of serving us. Neither good pizza nor express service.
