Pleasant enough as far as the 'garden' aspect is concerned although not sure if it was an intentional play on words when observing a sign stating: "Bare with us as our Christmas tree delivery has been delayed", so much for modern day education, faulty Spellcheck or as mostly the case these days staff for whom English is not their first language. As for the café the indifference to customers is as bad as ever, bordering on arrogance because nothing has ever been done about it by those responsible. The service is slow with staff seeming to enjoy operating at a gentle pace that suits themselves, pausing to have little chats with each other & often content to engage in a long conversation with a customer, all the time working hard to avoid eye contact with the usual long queue of customers. It's the indifference that is so overwhelming. The staff need replacing as I suspect they have done the job for too long & imagine they have earnt the right to do as they please. The breakfasts are fabulous but my lasting impression is that I have to pay a price, not for the food but to have to endure the dreadful service.

Visited this wash last week .....polite and friendly staff who were happy for us to go for tea at garden centre cafe. Today arrived in different car and saw a queue.....approached staff member and asked if I could do the same . In a very rude and arrogant manner he replied if I did that the car would still be in the same place, not washed. I had to stay with car. Needless to say I left immediately. This man needs to learn some courtesy and manners and his employer needs to ingrain some customer service standards into the staff.....ignorance and rudeness, wherever you come from, is never acceptable. They have lost my business for good. A shocking way to behave towards anyone and reflects poorly on the Garden Centre who probably franchise this aspect of their business out.

Avoid at all costs! Shocking job. Car washed at its dirtiest area with mitt, then mitt was immediately moved to bonnet/windscreen. Same mitt used all over without refreshing once. Car was still filthy and drying was a joke - smears everywhere. Wyevale need to take responsibility for this service as it is within their grounds. Absolute scam. £24 for a real cowboy service. No pride whatsoever for top price!

Visited a few weeks ago and the queue was fairly big.... took ages to take orders not sure if deliberately done to ensure kitchen not swamped. However the front of house staff really fail this cafe because the food is decent cafe food. The manager of the cafe front of house staff is deluded by defending his god awful staff poor management by taking on staff who clearly can't read their own menus... so my dad's chicken bites the person on the till couldn't find and my sons kids meal came with a drink which I said to order milk and they charged extra 50p for the cup of milk for my son who is 2 years old so apparently they think kids meals don't come with the advertised drinks on the kids menus.... After the absolutely slow and poor front of house service to order we weren't expecting much with the food but pleasantly surprised by the decent food. If I was running this gaff the manager is clearly in on poor front of house service and clearly inexperienced with dealing with complaints! time to get rid of the front of house and start again! If you can get past the rubbish service once you get food you'll be OK :)

Oh dear here we are again after a brief improvement back to slow service by very switched off staff (with one long serving exception). God help you if there are more than 2 people ahead of you. It might be the influence of a younger female generation that has led to their being allowed to entertain themselves & annoy customers with a strident racket emanating from a portable radio/CD machine. I suspect I'm not alone in switching the dam thing off as I pass it. Not only is service slow but because some staff don't listen properly (their heads are miles away) rarely is an order delivered accurately, there is frequently an item missing or not even recorded at time of ordering. Best get there the moment it opens, enjoy the lovely new tables & comfy chairs in the tent, forget trying to order a second coffee or tea then get out the place ASAP.

Garden centre is ok, nice selection of plants outside, inside is a bit disappointing. Uneven floors, buckets everywhere due to leaks in the roof. We come every month or so for lunch, it’s never been great but we always give it another chance. After today we probably won’t ever go back. We found 3 hairs in my husband’s sandwich. Eeekk!! It was horrible. In fairness the manager and assistant helped straight away, apologised, we got money back for the sandwich and got a different sandwich which was adequate. BUT, it should never have happened. Seeing hairs in your sandwich is utterly revolting. It could be such a lovely place to visit but too many things are letting it down.

We had hoped as the garden centre had changed hands things would have improved, but the defiantly have not,all the wanted was 2 hot drinks and a muffin,We had to wait over 40 minutes in the queue, the service was truly awful. And when the drinks did arrive they were cold. Why they can’t use both tills at the same time and other people to do the drinks is beyond me,or at the very least have two queues one for hot drinks and the other for food. The garden centre plant wise has improved a little but the same cannot be said for the restaurant.A great pity need to do much much better.

First visit since the re-opening & what an improvement. Clear direction signage & at the café it's very clear as to the ordering procedure which is a million times quicker & efficient than ever before. Hopefully the new younger staff are a permanent fixture because gone was the desultory slow service & studied indifference to the inevitable long queues. This is one garden centre/café that had the sense to make the kiddie play area sound-proofed, currently closed of course.

Absolutely diabolical! I asked for an interior and exterior clean (option 3) which was £20. I was told that for an extra £10 (option 4) they would do a “really good clean” and that my car really needed this. Foolishly, I agreed. All of the windows are completely smeared that I can barely see out of them when driving. They also spent no longer on my car than they would have if I had only paid £20. I am so disappointed as my car is a state and for £30 I expected it to be immaculate. I shouldn’t have to clean my own car after spending so much money to have a “really good clean”. Never going back again! Terrible!

This cafe offers restricted opening hours, a very limited menu choice and the service is low and lethargic. Food is expensive and not good value for money. Wyevale (a somewhat shadowy company) has taken over too many of these former locally-run nurseries and garden centres and imposed mediocre standards on them. Some, like the one of the old A3 north of Petersfield in Hampshire are still well-run, but this one is less appealing.

We visited the garden centre with my small son. We went to use the miniature railway which was a huge success. Unfortunately the food service from the garden centre was horrendous. We attended on Saturday at around 12:50pm. Most things on the menu weren't available. The kids packed lunch menu didn't even include a sandwich? The main part of the meal was a pack of Darilea Dunkers (hardly a balanced meal option!). We placed the order at 12:50. Kids nuggets, two adult meals, one of which was a bacon sandwich and the staff were told at least twice and confirmed "no butter". The service at the till was incredibly slow, not to mention, they put the kids nuggets through as fish fingers. Thankfully this was resolved and we avoided a toddler meltdown! The cafe was virtually empty. We waited 30 minutes for the meals to arrive (nuggets, mash [size of two tablespoons] and sweetcorn, bacon sandwich and a cheese toastie) I cannot even think what took so long to make this. When it arrived, lo and behold, butter when we specifically asked not to have it several times. They took it back. 20 minutes later, the bacon sandwich arrived back on the table. The time scale of this is so unacceptable. If the cafe was busy then I could understand the wait or if my order was more than a new two slices of bread that needed swapping over then I would understand why it took so long to remake. On a 30° day, in direct sunlight, with wasps landing on us constantly, the slow and unreliable service was just not something we could ignore!

Sunday 26th August was a really awful wet cold day and as we had already arranged to visit the grave of my mother in the nearby cemetery, we decided to have lunch in the small restaurant and then buy the flowers to take to the grave. Due to the weather being so poor for August the restaurant was only moderately busy so a table for myself, husband and sister was found very easily. In the past this restaurant used to serve Sunday lunches but it now seems that these have been taken off the menu and other relatively fast food is now served along with Fish and Chips. Not wanting fish and chips on a Sunday we selected quiche and salad with new potatoes. When the meals arrived there was a small quiche and a great pile of very limp salad leaves which obviously had just been tipped out of a bag on to the plates. No cucumber or onion and on searching for the tomato found just one very small baby tomato cut in half. Some kind of dressing had been poured over the 'salad' and that was that. We could not distingquish what the quiche contained although it did taste quite nice and was acceptable. The salad was so limp it looked as if it had been laying in the bag for quite a few days and certainly had not been refreshed or washed. A very poor effort. The service was very slow despite around 4 or five staff milling around the serving and cash counter. The girl making the coffee from the machine almost fell asleep it seems as a long queue for the ordered coffee became the norm. I would hate to see their reaction if it had been a really busy hot sunny day with many more customers, they certainly would not have been able to cope. With regard to the salad this restaurant should take a few tips from other establishments who manage to serve a well balanced salad with ALL the main ngredients or if they cannot be bothered to provide a very easy dish as it was described, don't offer it, the salad as they purported it to be was a very sad limp offering, in fact quite insulting for those who recognise what it should contain. We won't be going there again, they should in our opinion just stick to serving afternoon tea with their vey good selection of cakes and scones.

It is some years since I have been here and, on a visit to the area, I called in for lunch. On a weekday lunch time it was very busy {and noisy!}, but only one member of staff was preparing coffees, taking orders and taking payment. This was far too much for one person to do and inevitably there was quite a queue. I ordered a toasted sandwich and settled to wait - after half an hour I queried my order and it then appeared quite quickly. The sandwich itself was fine, which has raised this review from 'Poor' to 'Average'. I was rather surprised to see that the side salad contained half a cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber! Overall, I entered the café at 1.15 and received my modest lunch at 2.10. I won't be back and I suggest others look elsewhere. It seems that considerable money has been spent on updating this café, so the question remains, why has money not been spent on employing sufficient staff to cope with demand?

The two behind the counter were just ill mannered. Wont be going back now.

Staff rude and clearly have no idea what they are doing. No communication between them what's so ever. Waited an hour to order just a sandwich. Spoken to very rudely with no apology or reason as to why it's taken so long. Won't be coming here again and will be telling people to avoid it at all costs

Food is massively overpriced and really very average, service is ridiculously slow, cleanliness is poor and the ceiling leaks when it rains. What more can I say???I wouldn't even set foot in this place if it wasn't for the soft-play.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went for a meal with the family. The food was very good but the service and time the food took to come was very slow. Our grandson wanted to go in the soft play so we paid our money and got a wristband. No one else in there had paid and it appeared that no one checks!

We were served by a lovely member of staff, who was very talkative and friendly. After paying we tried to find an area that was clean to sit down. Considering this was first thing in the morning, clean tables, clean seating or swept and washed floors were hard to find. We eventually sat ourselves in an area that was ok, but did remove sweet wrappers from the seat and mopped up the sugar from the table top. Unfortunately, we had to tolerate the sticky floor. The hot beverages were very tasty and being a cold morning very welcome. Because of the state of the eating area, we were put off having lunch and chose to leave. Hopefully this was just a bad day and doesn't reflect the rest of the time.

Really slow service at lunchtime yesterday. We waited 40 minutes for a sandwich order, there were people queuing to be served and several people complaining at their tables as they hadn't received their orders. On top of that there was a printed email left on the counter (which I thought was a leaflet) from someone else complaining!Best avoided unless you have a couple of hours to kill.

We hadn't visited here for some time - and we now remember why! The staff seem very nice but the service is extremely slow. The poor lass behind the counter has to take orders and make tea/coffee to order. I ordered a toasted wrap which should have contained brie, butternut squash, peppers and chickpeas. OH ordered sausage and mash. After a lengthy wait (for which they did apologise) we received our order. My just warm wrap contained brie and rather large chunks of red and yellow pepper which were very cold. I had assumed that the wrap would contain hot food. There was no sign or butternut squash or chickpea. What is the point of toasting a product only to put stone cold food in it?OH's sausage and mash was hot. There were 3 sausages atop mashed potatoes and a sprinkling of peas. Apparently, the mash tasted more like Smash (if anyone remembers that!). There wasn't any gravy. Our lunch, which included 2 coffees, came to a shade over £19.00 which is extremely poor value for money.

We booked out a Saturday afternoon slot in the well-equipped, clean, soft-play area adjoining the café, for 10 kids. Parents, grandparents, and friends of the family all came along. It was a wonderful, safe, contained place for the kids to play, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We felt a little guilty as it was closed to the general public, but it meant we had a lovely relaxing time. Food for the kids (with enough chips and sandwiches to feed the adults a little, too), a party-table layout, and coffees for the adults were incredibly all included in the very reasonable price. Our son is diabetic, and they even changed the menu they offered to suit his needs, which was brilliant. We really felt cared for. With a miniature steam-railway outside, and a garden centre to wander about, there was plenty to keep everyone occupied, and a lovely time was had by all. Thanks so much for having us; many of the friends we had along are likely to make bookings for their kids, too (so they say)! We'll try to find our way back next year. Thanks again!

Went twice to the café. Once to meet friends and have breakfast. Only to be told that there was no chef and lack of staff, and all you could get was coffee! Second time, again went for breakfast and this time asked for Full English. Firstly they said no sausage, then no mushrooms! Anyway, food turned up fine, apart from the potatoes were roast not chips ( had forgotten to order them apparently)!! Its a real shame, as the staff really try hard.

The staff were lovely - but clearly training & effective management appear to be totally lacking. Plenty of 'will' but very little 'skill'.... We won't be returning.

With family living locally I have visited the restaurant a number of times and each time the service had been slow. The wait to place your order is slow as staff are making coffee and teas as they take the orders the machine for the coffees is very slow. The food then takes ages to arrive. It's a shame as the restaurant is laid out nicely and could be very productive.

I went here for a family birthday light lunch, and I wish I never did. The food (sandwiches) took around half an hour to arrive. No apology, no indication of the time to wait and the cafe was not that busy. I received a sarky response that the time I had been waiting was wrong by 2 minutes, poor, no excuse for that. In fairness, the food was tasty but of very small portions.£30 for 4 rounds of sandwiches and a drink each was a bit steep and I doubt I'll be back.

Sadly it doesn't seem to matter when you visit it's always slow service and on occasion limited menu as chef didn't turn up or other staffing issues. As a family of 4 we don't get to eat out much, so whilst visiting for garden we decided to pop in for a quick bite which was meant to be a treat but ended up so disappointing.Surly staff on the till, we waited 45 mins for 3 sandwiches and a panini. The fillings were half missing from 2, no cucumber with the tuna or watercress with the egg and the panini burnt to a crisp that crumbled.Tables needed clearing away and the outside area was very shabby and could have benefited from a sweep down at least-food on the floor etc.Next time we shall visit the pub opposite.

We visited the Pulborough Wyevale Garden Centre on Saturday on our way to the Bignor Roman Villa. We ordered an afternoon tea for two using a Groupon voucher we bought online the previous week. Normal price was about £16 but we paid only £10 thanks to the voucher. We got there with very low expectations as we have never paid before such a low price for an afternoon tea for two but I am glad to say it was very good value as the food was nice and generous. It consisted of: teapot for two, six finger sandwiches (two fillings: cheese and cucumber, ham and tomato) on brown and white bread, two fruit scones with Roddas clotted cream and strawberry jam, patisserie cakes and macaroons. The service was quick and friendly too.The only downside is that when we got there we found most of the tables busy, not with people just with dirty plates and glasses, and the ones that were free were covered with crumbs so we had to clean one table by ourselves.

We visited to have lunch and let our children have a play in the soft play area. The actual play area was well equipped but the temperature was ridiculously hot. Kids were coming out all hot and sweaty and it wasn't pleasant to sit in. There was no heating settings and apparently the staff unable to turn it down! When we arrived the place was really unclean. Trays and plates had been left on the tables for long periods of time and there was food all over the floor. No one came so we got our baby wipes out and gave the table a good clean! Then came a lady who I can only invisage to have been an ex army sergeant... she demanded to see our wristbands for the play area and spoke to us very abruptly and rudely. I felt like i had been to see the Headmistress! When she left, all the parents looked flustered and commented on how rude she was.The queue was long for food/ coffee with only one till in operation. We ordered a cheese and tomato baguette, soup of the day and a children's cheese roll. I was told after ordering by another lady that no one had bothered to order any baguettes so I'd have to have a sandwich instead. The soup of day was advertised as one thing, on the receipt as another and when it turned up (a while after all the other food) it was something completely different. It was watery and flavourless and no roll (these hadn't been ordered either!)My daughter's plate didn't look clean, something was left on it from a previous meal and also on my sandwich, which I left because it was so dry and filled with plastic cheese. The children's roll was tiny and randomly came with a shot of smarties? The same army lady bought the food and didn't even say a word... just dumped the food and stormed out.We complained to the shop manager who explained there was no manager in the cafe at present and they were having a nightmare because of it. He was very apologetic and refunded our money. Such a shame. We won't be returning again!

Really is a shame to say this but, it quite possibly was my worst experience locally at a food establishment. Having eaten here previously for a quick brunch, the food then (around a month ago) was acceptable if not amazing. My wife and I ordered a vegetable broth and carrot and corriander soup with bread and a sausage roll each. The entire process of queueing, ordering, paying and waiting for the food took an age. It was not overly busy either. When we received the food, one bowl was warm (I mean warm) and the other stone cold. The broth looked like an unkempt garden pond to be frank. A weird red water with chunks of vegetable lurking at the bottom. It jad absolutley no taste whatsoever. Carrot and corriander had SO much corriander it was inedible and it's consistency was like baby food with a thin watery film across the top. Famished, we ate the sausage rolls. The pastry underneath was wet and slimy and meat filling tasted like value sausages... On the back of this and the money spent for a lunch we did not eat, we shall not be returning. Shame, as local busines owners we like to pop out a couple of times a week for lunch.... Ironically, the Toat, our local as it were (and appreciate is what it is) never fails to deliver without the pre tense...

I felt I had to leave a review regarding my recent experience at Pulborough garden centre restaurant. I took my parents for lunch and we had baked potatoes with cheese and beans. The potato was barely warm, baked beans cold and the salad was fit for the waste bin. I was shocked that any person would serve salad looking so bad. I complained to the waitress serving who just looked at me said sorry and walked off.(not a caring or helpfull attitude at all) I was dumb founded. I have eaten here over the years but noticed it may have changed hands as all the staff, chairs and tables were different, it has gone downhill and I am so dissapointed with the reaction I got when complaining that I will be writing to the management and will not be eating there again which is a shame.
