Popped here for lunch and what a little treasure. Very quirky restaurant nestled in the lovely cobblestone street off the high street in Caerleon. The food was absolutely amazing! Staff very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back to try out their pizzeria evening. Lovely cakes for sale too but I couldn’t fit another morsel in!

I recently had the pleasure of dining with friends at The Vine Tree in Llangattock, and from the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the beautiful decor and warm, inviting atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with the waitstaff promptly seating us and taking the time to explain the menu in detail. For starters, we enjoyed two duck parfaits, fried chicken in XO sauce and miso, and Tom Yum mussels—each dish bursting with flavor. For the mains, we had a perfectly cooked dry-aged sirloin with oxtail, braised Roscoff, parsley, and bone marrow sauce, two chicken, wild mushroom, and tarragon “pies” with baby onions, bacon, and liquor sauce, and a pork dish that I can’t recall exactly but believe it was served with baked apple and crackling mash—the recipient couldn’t stop raving about it. We finished the meal with a couple of desserts that were just as outstanding as the rest of the courses. The entire evening felt like a true fine dining experience, and I’d highly recommend The Vine Tree to anyone looking for exceptional food and service.

Hmm the evening for us started badly - got better and then got worse again. We went here for a celebratory meal for our anniversary. When we arrived we were offered a table right next to the door in the path of everyone and also told we had to vacate it just over an hour later! This had definitely not been told to us when we booked. We obviously declined and opted to sit out on the terrace. (Which in fact was a good option as the two inside rooms have so many tables crowded together you would constantly be knocked by people/servers going past - the noise level is also very high with so many people in a smallish space.) The waiter who served us first was lovely - in fact all the staff were, the problem being that there were just not enough of them by the time the restaurant was full. We had arrived early so did not realise just how busy it would get. Our starters and mains were very nice - although by the time the mains arrived the staff were stretched - my husband had to go and find someone as the promised sauce had not arrived after about 15 minutes by which time I had eaten most of the meal before it got cold. We could see the staff were busy and we were not in a particular hurry but when the plates had still not been cleared about 3/4 hour later and we had not ordered a pudding, we asked one of the staff. They cleared and brought the pudding menu but by then we felt we had had enough and decided to go home for some ice cream. If you like a very noisy busy place and dont mind waiting a long time its for you - but it is not somewhere I would recommend for a romantic evening!!

Booked a table for 16 people 2 weeks in advance for Sunday lunch for our dads 60th birthday, having been here several times for family gatherings or as a couple for meals it was our first choice as food and service has always been great.service from the waitress this time was terrible she was quite frankly rude and we were made to feel unwanted the minute we were seated.having just taken our seats same asked us what did we want to order from the Sunday roast menu,I explained we were going to order drinks first and then we would be ready to order ,her reply we have these tables booked out after you! My mum immediately wanted to leave but not wanting to ruin dad’s meal as family had traveled from Manchester we stayed. Food came to the table quickly and disappointing, everyone’s Yorkshire puddings were burnt and hard we had a spoonful of instant mash and for the price small portions , the server was miserable and standoffish and unlike past reservations wasn’t very welcoming towards us , will not be coming back unfortunately everyone in our party wanted to complain but we didn’t for dads sake

The manor and its staff deserves the 5 stars. We booked this as we could see it was secluded and would be a great retreat to unwind. The views around were amazing. Clearly it was. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and offered a drink. Relaxed in the bar and unwind. Had a sea view room, which overlooks the car park and then beyond. Room was very nice and clean. The service in and around the hotel including the restaurant was excellent. Food and drink, from evening meal to breakfast was fab. They were so accommodating and helped meet dietary requirements as my wife (besides chicken) is mainly a veggie. So to please her pallet can be difficult. Every dish was fabulous. They saved a table for us, even though we hadn't booked, since we were staying with them. The restaurant was packed. We met people who own their lodges and static caravans in the park and then used the bar and restaurant. We have been so pleased with this place that there's nothing we can say to fault them. Happy to be staying here again.
