A lovely Sunday lunch! All home made, friendly service, all the staff are kind. The desserts are also home made and their lush! Will definitely go back

Just had Guinness installed hasn't got it right give them time, the ciders were great real friendly pub and a free carpark across the road where we parked our motorhomes for the night

The Rifflemans can't do enough for you. My Mum is coeliac and husband lactose intolerant and Jackie always makes sure there are desserts for them. The staff are very friendly and just a lovely atmosphere.... we love it.

We had a large group of 12 for an afternoon lunch. They ran out of several choices including the soup starter altogether. The service was very slow, 40 minutes before anyone took our order. The food was ok when it finally came. Don’t make the mistake of going in the bar, the locals and staff are as welcoming as those in the ‘Slaughtered Lamb’ in American Werewolf in London.

The food is lovely real home cooked food. I would certainly recommend it. The waitress are also wonderful

We have our 10th anniversary meal here. So glad we did as the food was delicious. I had a few guests with food allergies and they were able to cater for everyone. The roast dinner was amazing, and all our guests commented on it. Huge thanks to Jackie and the team.

Christmas dinner 2022. What a fantastic experience at the riflemans arms in Blaenavon. From the moment we walked in the room was beautifully decorated and it really felt like christmas. We had a party of 8 people, and everyone of us said how lovely the food was and how friendly the team were in serving us..We wasnt rushed in anyway and the boxes of cadburys chocolates and terry's chocolate orange on the table was a lovely gesture and of course the little bottles of spirits were a fitting touch to a great experience indeed. As a family we wanted to say thank you to Jackie and her team for making Christmas for us feel that little bit special. Would 100% do it again and would highly recommend.

Visited last friday lunchtime had very friendly greeting from lady behind bar - nice menu I had chicken Supreme which was a huge chicken breast with a lovely jacket potato and small salad my partner had scampi and chips which also came with small side salad - desserts were baileys cheesecake for me with cream which was lush and apple pie & custard - nice atmosphere good service and good food will certainly visit again

This place is a gem great food piping hot served efficiently with a smile. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating visited a number of times with the family 11 no including children and always have a great time would definitely recommend this place for Sunday lunch and will return again soon.

First time visiting the Rifleman’s and I have to say the food was out of this world. With an extremely well priced menu the restaurant, which was really nicely set out, was busy. I would definitely suggest booking a table to avoid disappointment. The soup was great, we all had the lamb, which was really good and cooked to perfection. From the roasties to the homemade Yorkshire puddings it really was 10/10 from all of us. A generous portion that everyone enjoyed. I had the homemade Ferraro Rocher cheesecake which was unbelievably good. Under 5’s eat for free which is a fantastic idea and even they cleared their plates. We found the drinks were also reasonably priced. No complaints at all with the food or the service. The staff were very polite and helpful. I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning here in the near future.

A group of us booked our Christmas meal here on Friday 21st December and every one of us had nothing but good to say. A variety of meals were booked and each was of a very high standard. The food was good, hot and plentiful and all of us were served at the same time, something you rarely get these days. Excellent starters, main course, dessert, coffee etc.. Not a single complaint from our group of 20. We were that impressed with it we have rebooked for December 2019.

Just went to the riflemans arms for the first time and I must say I was just totally impressed, the food was amazing, service was great, was in a group of 19 and everything was perfect, well done for coping with our crazy gang, totally enjoyed my afternoon, will return soon. Many thanks.

We called in after a visit to Pontypool and Blaenavon steam railway. We hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in before the lunchtime rush. Tastefully decorated, and comfortable seating. The waitresses were lovely and the food was excellent. We all had a Sunday lunch. The meat was thickly sliced and melted in the mouth, there was a good variety of vegetables, plenty of roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding topped with tasty gravy. The service was fast and friendly. The facilities were pristine.. We couldn't believe how reasonably priced the two course lunch was. We will definitely go again but will book first to avoid disappointment. Highly recommended.

The Rifleman's have a function room that they use for lunches and for evening food. The Sunday lunches are very good and can be served in individual vegetable dishes so you can help yourself which is nice as I don't like everything piled on. There is plenty to go around and the food is always nice quality and hot. There is not a huge selection for evening meals, although these were fine. It does get busy especially on Sundays and Christmas so book in advance.

Turned up on a Sunday without a booking- we had the last available table, so it’s clearly a popular spot! Food was so delicious and 3 courses was only £13! Soup to start was nice, roast was tasty. The vegetarian option was to die for. Can’t wait to go again! Only down side was that I would have liked more than one roast potato.

After a very hot morning of geological investigations my colleague and I stopped here for brief refreshments. Although it was lunchtime the bar was not yet open and we had a drink in a large room apparently mainly used for dining. The room was very blandly decorated although clean, slightly enlivened by pictures of Blaenavon's industrial past. Most customers appeared to be family groups with a preponderance of elderly people. The Rev James was off so I settled for a pint of Old Speckled Hen. This was so cold that at first it had very little taste and I had to let it have ten minutes to warm up. My colleague was satisfied with his lager based drink. The barmaid was friendly and helpful. The seats were comfortable, we stayed for twice as long as intended. We were sorry that we could not return for the live Morris Dancing in the evening (is Morris Dancing ever dead?).

Traditional sunday lunch that tastes like you had just been to lunch at your grans, but with the added advantage of a bar. What's not to love?? Had lamb which was very tender with delicately cooked veg and a nice hot soup to start. Service quick and efficient. Lovely pub would go back for sunday lunch again.

Was made to feel very welcome the beer was 1st class at a great price.Very friendly pub one of the best by far in Blaenavon would welcome all my friends there.5 star the best.

Just had an amazing meal.staff cannot do enough for you.food was amazing, had roast beef which melted in your mouth, veg cooked to perfection and caramel cheesecake was Devine. Mum had home baked win berry pie for dessert which sent her back to her childhood Thank you and look forward to our next visit.

Organizamos un viaje en autobús de Blaenavon y organizó el almuerzo para 55 personas al Escopetero. La comida (una excelente relación calidad-precio) y el servicio eran de la más alta calidad. En el día, y cuando los preparativos. Encontramos el encargado y casera a ser particularmente atento y servicial.

Hemos estado aquí en el pasado y tenía buenas comidas, pero en esta ocasión nos quedamos muy decepcionados y molesto. Teníamos un domingo asado. Nos preguntaron si queríamos un plato de sopa, mi marido tenía una, pero yo rechazamos, nos preguntó que la carne que queríamos de una selección de cuatro. Comimos cordero. Nos dimos cuenta que las raciones eran más pequeñas que cuando visitamos en el pasado, Ninguno de nosotros queríamos un postre. Mi marido fue a pagar la factura ya que fui con el coche, cuando salía, dijo que cobraron £11 para cada comida. Le dijeron que en pagar que era un menú fijo si tienes un plato o tres. En el pasado hemos pagado para cursos individuales. No hay anuncios del menú o cualquiera que anuncian ni tampoco dice así en el sitio web. Sin duda las camareras deben nos han informado de ello. Envié un correo electrónico las Riflemans cuando llegué a casa el domingo y nos informaron que me gustaría recibir una respuesta en 48 a 72 horas. Ahora es el jueves por la noche y aún sin respuesta. He hablado con muchas personas sobre esto y han dicho que no visita este restaurante ya que no sería capaz de comer 3 campos . Yo realmente no gustarle habiendo pagado £11 para mi chuleta cena y no volveremos a nuevo.

He comido en muchas veces del Escopetero, y Gary y Jacqueline nunca me defraudó. La comida y el servicio son de primera clase, y el menú es excelente. Le doy 5 estrellas los rifles porque nunca he tenido una mala comida, y han sido siempre bienvenido - y nos sentimos bienvenidos.
