Sunday lunch was fantastic, best i'v had in ages

Didn't stay this time but stayed twice before rooms are very clean and serviced every day went for meal while home for a few days as it was hubby's birthday meal was fantastic never had bad meal here ever staff friendly and accomadating at all times will always go here while at home for a meal always clean

Decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at The Little Crown. The food was excellent! Definitely recommend the garlic mushroom starter and the roast beef main did not disappoint. Excellent service as always. The team are a credit to Saul and Jackie. See you again soon guys!!!

Went for lunch on a Wednesday with 3 adults and 2 teenagers. Menu was very varied and all the meals were excellent. Landlord was a great host too. Always a good sign when there's not a spare table midweek lunchtimes.

This is a great little pub.....very pleasant staff....the food is top notch and...having just given the dining areas a spruce up....makes the whole experience very pleasant indeed 👍

It was such a friendly and welcoming place. They were really good with our children and we couldn't stop our children chatting to the manager, when usually they are so shy. We felt very at ease whilst eating out with our kids. The food was tasty, very good value and we look forward to coming back.

Went for a midweek meal with my husband. I had eaten at the little crown with friends in January and recommended it to my brother, who recently had a meal which he said “was the best sirloin” he’d had (and my brother isn’t easy to please), so my husband wanted to try the sirloin, and he wasn’t disappointed either. The landlord even managed to get him some colmans mustard to go with it 👍🏻 I had the steak and mushroom stroganoff which was also very tasty. The food was good, the welcome very friendly and very good value for money. We will definitely return soon.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2024: Booked here for valentine's after a good Christmas meal with work and they did a brilliant job! Vegan option for all courses which is brilliant for me. Everything was lovely. I had a tofu starter which was brilliant, followed by the vegan pie - very yummy and then the vegan brownie and ice-cream to finish. My husband thoroughly enjoyed all his courses too. He had prawn starter, ribeye main and chocolate cake. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended, we'll be returning again. DECEMBER 2023: I came here with my work for our works Christmas meal. Plenty of vegan options to choose from when speaking to the staff, who were friendly and helpful. I went with the soup for starter, which was nice. Then the pepper pot for my main, which came with the usually Christmas dinner veg. Large portion size and enjoyable. For dessert they had a vegan brownie and vegan ice cream which wasn't on the menu and it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals and we all left stuffed. Lovely pub and great meal.

Partway through my shift caring for our older people I just felt that I really fancied a roast beef dinner. My client mentioned The Little Crown. I rang to ask if they did takeaway Sunday dinners. The answer was yes, what would you like? And when do you want to collect? They made my day !!! And they made my day even more when I plated the most fabulous roast beef, roast potatoes and a lovely selection of vegetables. I'll be ordering again on a working Sunday when my girls are at their dad's. I also saw what a lovely place it looks to eat so will definitely treat us all to Sunday lunch together .

Stayed for three nights with work and can't speak highly enough. A great welcome and really well looked after by the owners. Comfortable, spacious and well appointed rooms. Delicious food in the restaurant, plenty of choice and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future.

Very slow service, nearly 2 hours for dinner to arrive. Not very tasty, very disappointed.

Very friendly staff who can’t do enough for you. We’ve ate there several times now and the food has always been good, we ate a Sunday roast this time and it was absolutely delicious. Proper home cooked food, generous portions and the food had lots of flavour. The lamb was out of this world! We have recommended this pub to all our friends as you can’t go wrong. Lots of choices on the menu too so defo something for everyone.

Called for lunch today, although they were fully booked they found a table for two of us. We had 3 course Sunday lunch, 1 chicken and 1 beef which was beautiful. The staff were so friendly. Lovely atmosphere and food

We had a fabulous meal here. It was our Tai Chi group, we had meals from the main & Christmas meal! It was outstanding. All the staff were efficient & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to returning in the New Year! 🥳 x

Visited for a family birthday meal, we were a party of 18 and the service was excellent. Two allergies to cater for which were managed brilliantly and staff were always on hand. Great environment and the food portion were very very good. We all left full and happy.

Beautiful pub, lovely food, cooked perfectly, had a Sunday roast with succulent beef and sucrumcous desserts. Service was 10 out of 10, we will definitely recommend and be returning

Went to an Anniversary celebration on Saturday 30th September and have to say what a wonderful experience! The new owners have certainly made their mark on this venue. The buffet style menu was probably the best I’ve experienced in a long time. The variety and quality were second to none. The owners along with their amazing staff made it such a wonderful evening. All were very attentive always making sure everyone was taken care of. I’ve heard their Sunday lunch is amazing and am going to book VERY soon. Thanks guys!!

Attended a Wedding Anniversary party on a Saturday night. The room was well laid out with tables in rows to accommodate some of the guests (about 100 guests altogether). There was a disco and space for dancing. The bar staff worked tirelessly all through the evening. Never had to wait too long to get served. Tables were cleared regularly. The food was a buffet style and very good quality selection and choice. Overall extremely well organised and I would definitely recommend.

What a great pub. Had a brilliant time there over the weekend for a anniversary party. The staff team could not do enough for everyone and worked really hard. Food that was put out for the buffet was absolutely beautiful. Well-done will definitely be back

The restaurant was busy when we arrived, normally a great sign that the food is delicious and we were not disappointed. Bacon and Black pudding to start with the lamb shank for main. The food was hot, plenty of gravy and the veg was stunning. We will definitely be going back. Do not be put off by the short wait, it is well worth it. Love the staff as well, they were busy but still very helpful and professional.

Absolutely rubbish. Table booked for 1300.had to vacate by 1400.one course Arrived at 14:10.Semi warm,had to wait for veg etc Obviously new Owners, serving girls running around like headless Chickens..Used to be A go To.. Never Again. BYE..

Stayed two nights at this fantastic place. The room was excellent with a superb en-suite bathroom. The food in the restaurant was first class and the breakfasts were high quality. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is a hidden gem.

Great value pub with rooms. Friendly welcome, shown personally to room. Room is well equipped. Beds are comfy enough. Bathroom clean and in good condition. Shower is over a bath, but it's got excellent pressure and heat. Biscuits and bottles of still and sparkling water provided free, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Shame the milk is full fat UHT and I prefer fairly traded tea and coffee but I'm not knocking them down for this. Breakfast is a mix of help yourself continental options and got meal you pre-order the night before. My poached eggs were perfect! They make you whatever coffee you fancy from behind the bar. All in all a great place to stay if you're working in Torfaen.

I visited this great pub many times when i am down visiting my friends, who live 5 mins from this pub. I have had many great times here, the beer is good the staff are great and the food is excellent. When i am down in South Wales i will always visit this establishment. Happy lad from North Wales

Gorgeous Sunday Lunch. It's been recently given a fresh new look in the main area of the pub. Nice & bright & fresh. The food there is absolutely fantastic and a really good price. My partner & my friends partner had the roast beef. They said it was cooked to perfection, I've never seen my partner finish his plate but he did at this place. My friend and I had one of the vegetarian options - butternut squash with roasted vegetables, blue cheese & walnuts. It was superb! So tasty! With a good selection of roasties & trays of seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding & Gravy. We were all stuffed! Beautiful location, great personal service. Good selection of beers and coffee too. Really nice way to spend our Sunday afternoon. Top marks to the owner & his staff. Thanks guys we will definitely be back for more! *****

The rooms are spotless the regular breakfast is huge for 12 pounds definitely worth the money they have an amazing chef foods cooked to perfection so friendly homeley and the manager and wife were so acomidating friendly and kind definitely going here again perfect for families too and they haveca wet room in one of there rooms there's a bath and shower in the rooms memoryfoam mattress so comfy heating in all the rooms just outstanding in everyway

Absolutely awful service and food. The rooms are cheap and you definitely get what you pay for. We were in room one and this is above the kitchen so until the kitchen closes and stops serving you have a really loud sound of the kitchen extractor sounding like a helicopter is outside the window. In the restaurant the food is cheap produce. I shared the platter starter which is just a deep fried delight with little flavour and extremely basic. For a main I had the roast duck. This was awful and more like Chinese crispy duck. I brought this to the wait staff attention to be told that it says it is roasted on the menu so they can’t do anything. I explained duck should be served medium rare to have to speak to the manager (also chef) to eventually be taken off the menu accompanied by awful attitude. This is not a place that can handle criticism well and definitely is not worth the money charged.

This was my first meal here, I was very disappointed with what I had ( pan fried pork chop ) the fat was not rendered down and not even crispy, both my wife and I ordered "hand cut" chips that appeared to be frozen ones. ( my wife had raved about the chips she had a few years ago ) my son was not happy with the steak he had and most was taken home for our dog. Total cost including drinks was over £100. Hosts attire was not very professional.

Arrived for one night very welcoming staff. Ordered breakfast in advance for next day highly recommended top notch sausages. Do not hesitate to book rooms are better than expected only because the rooms were so well priced. Lovely room signage had to take a picture.

We were a big party of 27. The service and food was very good some of us had the Chistmad menu and the others ordered from the usual menu. The food was lovely and hot and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble and the afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Highly recommended will definitely be back. We'll done to the owners and all your staff

Booked a table for a large group. The table was booked well in advance so they were well aware we were coming. On arrival we noticed there was also another large party. Our food and drinks were extremely slow due to there only being two members of staff. The waitresses were very pleasant but having so many people to serve it was near impossible for them. With two large parties booked in as well as the regulars to serve there should have been a lot more staff. When the food finally arrived it was cold and looked like it had been sat waiting for a while before it arrived at the table. It was not a pleasant evening at all.

Friends reunited, six good friends met up after a long awaited reunion at the little crown, what a lovely little place clean and very festive looking we were shown to our table and looked over the menu which had very good prices and good choice of food and a well stocked bar for drinks, the staff were very friendly and attentive we all enjoyed our food, was lovely to see the feature flooring as you entered the toilet area to show you the past when the miners used a track to move the coal underground all done very well. Would definitely return we all had a excellent evening.
