Love the atmosphere in this place. The staff are all welcoming and friendly and the food is plentiful and of a high quality. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday carvery and, based on the number of people also eating there while we were there, everyone else did too. Recommend you book and do it soon - excellent value for money.

Enjoyed a lovely breakfast here this week. I’ve actually been a few times and it’s always been good. The service feels like whomever is hiring or training the staff, really wants them to care about their customers. Both of us enjoyed our eggs benedict and watermelon iced tea. The eggs were perfect and runny. Yum. We noticed that there is a happy hour with cocktails, so we might try that next time!

Me and my friend Susan arrived at the hotel early afternoon. The greeting by the one young barman was very welcoming, he was polite and charming and made our cold beverages rather swiftly. After we finished our cold drinks we decided to have a hot beverage. This time there was a different barman behind the bar. He looked scruffy and looked like he had been up all night. We ordered a latte when it was rather quiet. The scruffy barman proceeded to make our lattes 15 minutes after we ordered even know it was not busy. The lattes were so hot we had to wait 30 minutes to let them cool before we could take our first sip! Not only that the latte tasted burnt! So we decided to end our day trip to the parkway there. Overall initially felt welcomed, however a change of events when the barman Ben served me and Susan

Sunday lunch was dire , one of us pointed out an earwig resting near the pork joint . That was not the problem the veg looked soggy so I thought the parsnip looked brown the Yorkshire was like cardboard but worst of all was the gravy really nasty dinner and left it all . Inedible No comments from the waitress £23.50 at least the starter was edible . This is the last time I eat at the parkway never again .

Situated beside the Blaenavon Heritage Centre and what a nice surprise, plenty of choice of food with lovely friendly lady's to help you make your decision.

Since Clare has been away the food is not the best, will go elsewhere until Clare is back and the staff are not so rude, Food was dry and service not the best to be honest.

Popped in today for a meal with my partner. The fish and Chips and Haloumi Wrap with fries were excellent. Lovely friendly pup with staff that are a credit to this venue.Having worked in the pub scene for many years in my younger days it is great to see a thriving local venue.

I have not been here for years... 1... service was exceptional - very quick (ordered via the app) 2... when I did interact with the staff they were all great, helpful and chatty (I witnessed one member of staff going the extra mile helping a disabled customer) 3... food was good (let's be clear, it's pub grub) and very very well priced - plus the free drink with the food is a welcome bonus 4... the venue, from what I could see, clean and tidy with table clearing going on regularly I was very happy with this venue, my elderly mother with me for her first visit was also very very happy and very full after her meal. Well done and thank you to everyone at the John Fielding. (We will be back).

We had lunch on a Wednesday, both of us having Baked Potatoes, one with Beans & Cheese, the other with Coronation Chicken, followed by Cherry Pie & Custard with Coffee. It was delicious & the potatoes were beautifully cooked. The staff were attentive & efficient. This is a lovely place for lunch - Highly recommended.

We come here often. It’s always hit and miss as to the food and service you seem to recieve. I feel that to much time and effort is spent serving takeaway customers, than people sitting down to eat (and paying nearly double may I add). Expensive for fish and chips, and sometimes quite dirty if staff are busy.

I visited Greggs in Pontypool this morning of the 8 people queuing 3 people were not wearing masks, at no point did Greggs employees question this, they were just served. The wearing of masks is still mandatory in Wales in public places !!!!
