Cwrt Henllys in Torfaen

It was absolutely delicious! The roast meat was tender and juicy, perfectly complemented by the crispy roast potatoes. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the gravy added a rich and savory flavor. It was a hearty and satisfying Sunday meal that left me feeling warm and content. Overall, a fantastic roast dinner experience! The staff and management make you feel very welcome and the waiters and bar staff really went above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. Friendly and attentive service 😊🍽️

It was our daughters surprise 30th birthday and our first time at Cwrt Henllys. The owners, Tracey and Steve, were absolutely amazing! They couldn't do enough to help us with setting up and helping to make the evening successful! The place itself was outstanding, decorated beautifully and the food was fantastic, delicious and all home cooked by Tracey herself! Thank you Tracey and Steve for a wonderful evening! We would definitely recommend Cwrt Henllys!

I booked a table for 12 people for a special anniversary meal however my mum became ill so I cancelled the booking at 7 the night previous to going. When I called to cancel she said you’re not even in the book 😬 I said ok good thing we are not coming then. Then today the day we were supposed to come I had the landlady phone me up giving me abuse as she said I didn’t cancel. I tried explaining that I spoke to a girl the previous night and she called me a liar and started swearing at me. I was so shocked I just put the phone down. Never ever will I step foot in this place again and I will be telling everyone I know how bad I was treated. Absolutely disgusting way for anyone to behave but to come from the person who runs it is unbelievable.

We as a family went out for my father's birthday at the cwrt Henllys. Well what a let down. I ordered a 10oz serloin medium rare. It came out as medium. I sent it back as I ordered a medium rare. They happily took it away to replace. The replacement came out and not only was is once cooked medium but it was not even a sirloin.i refused to accept and sent it back saying it's ok I will not have anything. I would have left it there but two things have prompted me to post this. again 1st if they didn't have any serloin stakes left it would have been nice to have had the option to been offered something different. 2nd the owner came over and said she agreed that the first steak was over cooked but the second stake was boarder line and she would not charge me for them. What the f#*k. First steak was over cooked and the second wasn't even a sirloin and over cooked again. I should also be grateful that I'm not being charged for what I didn't order. My advice don't go to the cwrt Henllys if you want steak.

Lovely Sunday carvery, plenty to choose from, meat was lovely, couldn't fault it. Staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

I had my wedding reception here in October. Tracey couldn't have been more supportive. I was nervous about the evening going to plan but Tracey communicated with me before the event and during the evening to make sure everything went to plan. Tracey did an amazing job with the decorations. I had a few people tell me throughout the night how much they liked the decorations and the venue. Unfortunately I didn't get to take photos of the decorations because I was enjoying myself so much. The food was very good and there were plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options. The DJ was very good too and had everyone up dancing. The cost for the whole evening was very reasonable. We stayed the night and we were very impressed with the lovely bridal suite.

We attended my sister in laws wedding on Saturday. The carvery was stunning and the evening buffet was equally as amazing. The room was set up beautifully and transition from day to night went so smooth all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was brilliant and the dj was absolutely incredible the dance floor was constantly full. Thank you to Tracey and Steve and all the staff for making her day so special.

I honestly can't thank Tracey and Steve enough , the decorations were absolutely stunning ,everything I imagined and more , the food was amazing ! Best carvery I've ever had like a proper homemade Sunday roast , the meat was cooked to perfection , the roasties were sooo good and the stuffing wow never tasted stuffing like it was sooo tasty , everything was just delicious every guest cleaned there plate. And dessert omg wow best cheesecake ever! The staff were all really lovely friendly polite and helpful ,was plenty of staff on to serve all our guests. We all had the absolute time of our lives thanks to you two. The buffet was amazing loads of food too. They also provided us with a DJ who was a lovely man and a brilliant DJ. We also had the bridal suite which is beautifully decorated and immaculate . I honestly wish I could relive it all over again . Thank you both so much for making our wedding PERFECT in every way ,you both worked your guts out and we are so thankful ❤️ see you soon for a carvery xx

We visit cwrt henlys most weekends for the carvery. The food is always amazing each time we visit. The homemade roasties and gravy are the best I have ever had. The staff are always friendly and go above and beyond to accommodate us and always make us feel so welcome. I have also had my whole family (20 of us) have dinner here. We have never been kept waiting and have more than enough time to be at our table to enjoy our food and deserts even being such a large group. The cwrt henlys is Such a family oriented place which is why we love coming here. So reasonably priced with outstanding food. Highly recommended

We have been visiting the cwrt henllys for years. From date nights to family gatherings and have always found the food Aswell as the service to be spot on. From the atmosphere in the bar and pool table area going into the restaurant can't be knocked. The range of the evening menu is great for all ages also. The owners and the bar staff have always gone out of there way to be helpful and are even willing to work with us if things change, such as numbers on our tables. The rooms that are available to be rented out overnight are lovely and spacious and decorated beautifully. Highly recommended for any type occasion. 👍

The family table that was booked for 1PM not 12.30PM as Amy stated for Sunday lunch we were ALL present for 1.20PM and WE WEREN'T THERE 1HR BEFORE as I AND 1 of the children was at a church service SO THIS IS A BLAITENT LIE, to say that we were in the park an hr before. We were asked if we wanted desert (WHICH THERE WAS A COUPLE) to then be told we could have it but in the bar area as the table was booked out for 2.15pm, giving 7 ADULT'S and 4 Children AGED 8yrs to 2yrs 1HR 15 MINS TO GET SERVED AND EAT OUR MEALS. We said that we booked the resturant not the bar to eat. And then THE Restaurant owner came in SHOUTING AT US IN A ROOM FULL OF OTHER PEOPLE TO PAY OUR BILLS AND LEAVE IS EXTREMELY RUDE, NEEDLESS TO SAY WILL NEVER GO BACK AND IF THERE WAS A ZERO RATING THAT IS WHAT IT WOULD HAVE.

Well where do I start ,,,dont ever book your wedding reception here,firsty the attitude from Tracey is discusting,rude and abrupt,completely discusting,the food was no where near the expectations or value of what was promised,pulled pork which by the way was used the next day for there Sunday carvery(the cheek of it)the prosecco that was purchased from them was not put on guests tables it was poored into flute glasses,which only filled the glasses quater of the way,no way was all the bottles used,🤔they were selling out of date vk to one of the guests dated May 22 when we are in October 22,charging full price,there dog was wondering around taking food off tables,approaching all the children,this dog was a big dog,I mean not far off a donkey,it should never be allowed to wander the premises at a wedding reception,it was mentioned at the bar to which we were just ignored,the bride made her own centre pieces which were beautiful,cages with lights and colour schemed flowers,with centre candles 2 medium ones got taken along with 7 large candles,when questioned the next day about them one of the guests got shouted at,your probably thinking anyone could of taken them but no all family/guests got asked about them,they wernt taken by any of them,besides that they would of got noticed if they went out the door,so if anyone has a wedding reception done by Tracey then take note of your centre pieces...il upload a picture of and be sure to know they dont belong to her! We had booked a table to have Sunday lunch with family that we hadn't seen for 3 years due to covid. As soon as we had eaten our lunch the owner came amd asked us to leave as they had another party coming. When we said we wanted dessert we were told we would have to eat it in the bar. We celebrated my parents 65th Wedding Anniversary at Cwrt Henllys, for over 40 people and we couldn’t have chosen a better place! The venue was really good and we had the conservatory to ourselves, which we were able to decorate earlier in the day, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and were so friendly and helpful. The Carvery Lunch was really good and can’t thank the chef enough. Everyone really enjoyed the whole afternoon and we had so many comments about the food and the venue. It was made even more special when our daughter made a speech at the beginning and said there was one more surprise and in walked my brother and his wife from Australia! There wasn’t a dry eye in the place! Thank you Cwrt Henllys for making it such a special event and one we will never forget. The food was so good that the family went back on the a Sunday before my brother and his wife went home! They can’t get a Carvery in Australia.

Group of 4 visited for Sunday carvery - prompt and very friendly service in a pleasant environment. Good selection of meat and vegetables which were nicely cooked which was topped off by some yummy desserts. Overall a great lunchtime experience - have booked to go again and feel that we will be regular visitors here.

Pub was open nice and early for trade. Locals and regulars galore were treated to free bacon rolls and excellent drinks. Friendly staff and a very clean and tidy pub / restaurant. Well worth a visit for both drinks and food. Highly recommended in Cwmbran.

Had a fabulous evening at the Cwrt Henllys to celebrate our engagement with family and friends. Jodie dealt with our booking, and couldn't do enough to help us before the day of our meal, and on the day of the meal. We were given the conservatory area, which was extremely spacious and laid out perfectly. Meals were excellent (considering that there were 40 starters and main meals to be prepared and served). The waiting staff and bar staff went above and beyond to make a perfect evening for us. Thankyou!

Organised a family get together for a birthday celebration and we decided on a Sunday to try the carvery. We requested the snug which was laid out lovely. The carvery was lovely with a choice of meats, plenty of vegetables etc. We thought it was good value. They did deserts but we were too full to try any. Only downside of going in a large party is the wait to be served at the carvery as there was a bit of a queue but suppose that’s to be expected if in a large group. We would definitely go back again. Good service from all staff we met.

A lovely venue with brill venues. A nice type of people drink here. Drinks were all £3 today so a cracking enticement. Would recommend as friendly staff and improved decor and toilets.

Having grown up in the area I thought I would take a group of overseas family and friends for dinner at the Cwrt Henllys restaurant. What a mistake! One of our party had to wait 10 minutes for her steak after all of us had been served. She had asked for a medium-rare steak but what turned up was overcooked and looked like leather. That was true of a number of the steaks others of us were given. When we complained, the older Assistant Manager became quite abusive - and then accused US of “being rude”. The Chef was equally obnoxious.

Plenty of parking out the front. Great views across the Bristol Channel on a sunny day. Drinks are reasonably priced and the family running it are super friendly. Would recommend.

We visited very early evening, so it was quiet, but all was great. Great food served quickly, and by such lovely staff!

You can see investment is slowly being poured into the place. Fresh paint, furniture and carpet are all good signs.

Over the last few months eaten here loads of times and found a very good friendly family atmosphere. Food has been absolutely great and the staff always very ready to help and are always very friendly.

Came here for mothers day carvery . I can safely say it was the best cooked dinner we've ever eaten out ( And we eat out often ) We went for the latest sitting and in fact were the last group to go up and get our dinners. Everything was still fresh and hot. The meat, potatos and veg were plentiful and delicious. The meat melted in your mouth and the roast potatos and gravy were superb. All the staff were friendly from the bar to the chef/carver and waiters. The new decor is classy and inviting . Only 1 minor was that the children's price is set at £6.95 regardless of age . While we no means tight when it comes to paying for our son's meal He is only just 2 . So maybe a different price could be set for toddlers or under 3's. Like I said-minor . Can't wait to return.

booked here for my sister babyshower really really really wish we hadn’t !!!!!!!!!!! Turned up everything we had asked for wasn’t done the girl we organised it all with had left !! The chef we ordered & chose food with also left!!!! So we were left with the elderly woman who owns it who didn’t even know her own staffs names let alone what we had booked & requested. Their was a new boy called sheldon who worked his butt off for us & kept apologising for the continued cock ups being made. We paid £200 for a Buffett for 30/40 people & we had 2 trays of sandwiches 2 bowls of crisps some melon & a load of ship bought cakes. When I spoke the landlord about their not being enough food to go around he called my guests greedy & it wasn’t his fault they had scoffed it all!!! & he had spent a fortune in Sainsbury’s. He continued to rant about 3 bottles of Buck’s Fizz we had brought in saying we brought our own wine but we had discussed this in the week with the manager who had now left who actually suggested we could do this!! In the book was written by the previous chef about all the food he was planning to cook us for the £200 but none of it was anywhere to be seen . The way the elderly man & woman handled things was disgusting we been planning this for months & they completely ruined DO NOT BOOK ANY FUNCTION HERE!!!!

Visited as party for sister's 50th birthday. Had early bird menu, 2 courses for £10.95. Some had starters which looked cheap and meagre portions. We had preordered main courses which they still miscounted. Several of us had the hunters chicken which was a small piece of fillet with bbq sauce, cheese and bacon topping, served with frozen chips and half a plateful of peas. Dessert took so long we decided not to bother with it.

Went with family and friends for my birthday , had a fantastic time , lovely surroundings , great friendly staff nothing too much trouble , food was amazing and really good value great variety, I would highly recommend , can’t wait to come back and may even book a room !

Had took the famliy for a carvery and all we could notice is the landlord short white haired gentleman bothering customers and our self's wile eating felt sorry for other customers as they were to embarrassed to say anything there seemed to be a lot of arguing between staff or famliy there was a lot of histerics from one of the staff a older lady in her 70s guessing and another lady about 40 any way very off putting to watch food was ok but will never go back not worth the 10 minute drive also the smug bar maid who just talks and does nothing jade or something like that just rude and don't how she got a job lazy

Out for an Early Bird meal with the family. Always a warm welcome from Jodie and the team. Had the Carvery a few times and that was always scrummy. This was the first time we have dined out in the evening.

We had the carvery (Sunday lunch). The meat was tasty and moist. The Yorkshires aren’t homemade and weren’t great. Same goes for the stuffing balls. The veg were pretty identical to a Toby Carvery. The meal tasted ok, but it didn’t live up to reviews for us. The desserts were quite nice, but not homemade. The refurb of the room is lovely. If you are sitting with the sun on you/in your face, it’s not great. Will try again, but for an evening meal.

Large portions of really good quality pub food. Gammon, eggs and chips served with grilled tomatoes & mushrooms highly recommended! Surroundings are very pleasant now that the pub has been completely refurbished. Friendly service made for a lovely evening.

Stopped by for dinner. This was a recommendation as I do not know the area. Overall it was cheap and cheerful! Food was delicious - I had steak and the portions are huge! Fresh and lovely. Peppercorn sauce was dreamy! Service was also great - met the chef and there was a lovely girl behind the bar - couldn't fault them. Nothing was too much trouble. Good wifi.

I don’t even know where to start! We went here for a meal which was nice but when we came in the staff were more interested in whatever was on their mobile phones whilst drinking wine on the bar! ... you could not write it! We were eventually shown to our table by a nice young girl called yasmin. The menu was very minimal like the Christmas decorations so we had fish and chips which was great but the extra company was a bit too much. I am all for having a chat but this elderly lady who I assume is one of the managers or owners sat down with us when our food came and talked over us throughout the whole meal! Maybe next time we’ll book faulty towers.

We thought we try this place as it’s just around the corner from where we live in the hope we would go here on a regular basis if it was nice. We were wrong! We’d booked a table for Sunday lunch but when we arrived we didn’t know whether to go left or right as there were no signs for the restaurant or bar. We didn’t know if we could just sit at any table so we thought we’d wait for someone to greet us and show us to our table. Then we waited and waited. The lady that looked like she was staff was just chatting with her friends. She saw us, ignored us and kept chatting. We walked! From what we saw the restaurant lacked atmosphere as it was so light and it felt more like a retirement home than a restaurant so we went to our favourite place castell y Bwch and had a great lunch instead!

We went here for sunday lunch at the last minute. It was a little hard to find as the sat nav tried taking us to the road over from the pub but we did find it, and was happy to see a little car park.

I read the reviews on here the Sunday lunch food was very good but unfortunately the service from the staff was very limited long winded and very disappointing. On a number of occasions during the meal we waited way to long for the limited people eating and even had to go look for help a few times. Is a real shame as the food was excellent, but possibly the for sale sign outside may give an indication that they are looking to leave, it's a real shame.

My partner and I spent the weekend here - and will most certainly be going back! From the moment we walked through the door, we felt welcome, at home and totally spoilt! Matt and his staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was comfortable and homely and the food was out of this world! We would thoroughly recommend Cwrt Henllys to anyone wanting a warm, welcoming and friendly stay!

I visited this hotel recently stayed the night in a very clean room, had a carvery which was absolutely superb, the best I have tasted , nothing is too much trouble from the chef, even cooked my friend an alternative meal, which was delicious, above and beyond service, what a special friendly place to stay, would not hesitate to return here .

My husband and I popped in on the off chance for a Sunday lunch. We had never been before but thought we'd give it a try. We had a carvery and we have to say we were pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly and the food was lovely and plentiful. I was so full after my dinner I had no room for dessert. My husband however had a little room left and had dessert. Again it was delicious. We stayed a few hours and sat outside in the sun and had a very pleasant Sunday afternoon. We will be definitely visiting again.

Ample parking. Great views. New owners are making it great for food and especially the carvery. £7.99 per person is great value for a really tasty and tidy dinner. Would recommend to all as the staff and food are excellent.

Several friends and I came here over the weekend and was treated very kindly by the staff and owner. We had fresh trout that was cooked to perfection. Came out presented very well and the flesh just fell off the bone. For desserts we had chocolate brownie with champagne sorbet whilst another had Terry's chocolate cheesecake. Both were incredible. Finding a place that makes their own desserts these days are hard to come by so I recommend this place hands down. Very well done to the new management and staff there

My partner and I chose the Cwrt Henllys to hold our engagement party after speaking to various venues around the area and I’m so glad we did because we made the best choice! Matt mentioned something about vegan and vegetarian options within the first five minutes, we didn’t even have to ask. From the start of the planning to the very last minute Matt and his team were awesome! The hotel rooms were wonderful and exactly what we needed for our friends and family that came from afar, the conservatory was the perfect setting and the food was absolutely INCREDIBLE! All night people were complimenting the venue and raving about the buffet! Our night went off seamlessly, the customer service we received was amazing, I feel like we’ve made a friend in Matt and we shall definitely be returning for more gorgeous food and some good times! Thank you all!

popped up on a Sunday to try the carvery (very last minute booking but managed to get squeezed in) food was absolutely stunning as you can see, fast service and all the staff are really well mannered. Our waiter Gareth was extremely helpful in making sure it was everything we wanted.

Lovely meal and amazing service, can't wait to go again! I would recommend the red velvet rockslide for desert!

What can I say ? A picture paints a thousand words .. amazing steak and Guinness pie , beautiful triple fried chips .. soooo stuffed definitely visiting here again .. service by Matt and the team was perfection :)

I received a very warm welcome on my visit. Matt and the team are friendly, and the food and service excellent. A lovely Sunday carvery, and desserts to die for! A great place for a family function. Afternoon tea or just a nice whooshy lager ... highly recommend this pub

It is great to see The Cwrt Henllys has been taken over by people who are really giving it their all. The staff are very welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. I went with friends for a drink and finished the night with a gorgeous selection of the most amazing desserts. Looking forward to my next visit.
