Costa @Next in Torfaen

Walked into Costa today for a coffee . Lovely smell of coffee wafting into next .However, there was a queue all the chill cabinets were very poorly stocked . Couldn't find a table - dirty trays of dishes everywhere Walked out it was filthy

Filthy. Not one table wiped. Floors covered in food scraps. Condiment station disgusting, prep area behind counter messy and covered in empty bottles. Bin overflowing. Never again!

I never leave reviews but I’m honestly shocked at the customer service here. I stood at the till for a good ten minutes waiting for service, three young girls would rather talk to each other in the dish room. Think they might have forgotten they were open for a while, though the one did look at me multiple times waiting

Possibly one of the most unpleasant cakes I've tasted, was like eating what I can imagine cardboard would be like. Also, forget if you want to come here for a nice relaxing cup of coffee .. the door to the kitchen bangs shut so loudly it actually made the tables shake .. constant banging. on the plus side cake was exchanged to one that wasn't stale but still very dry and service was efficient.

Arrived at 5.25 on Saturday for a coffee with friends and then reminded every 5 minutes by the chap behind the counter that they were closing at 6. Couldn’t enjoy the experience with him shouting out every 5 minutes.

Im not one to leave bad reviews but i felt this was needed. The service is costa has really gone downhill and i feel its due to change of staff. The young girl who served myself my mum and daughter today was incredibly rude not just to myself but others waiting for their coffees and food also. It was cash only at the till which as you can imagine was an issue for many customers as majority of people pay by card. There was a lot of eye rolling from the young girl serving and no mention from her of being able to order on the app as an alternative. My toastie was cold by the time my drink was prepared and my coffee was the consistency of slime it was absolutely disgusting so i took it back and was met with more eye rolling and told thats what i ordered. My mum ordered on the app but wanted to sit in with her drink and was served her coffee in a takeaway cup. Might sound trivial but 2 toasties 2 coffees and a biscuit £17 is extortionate you at least expect it in a proper glass. I really feel a course in customer service would be extremely beneficial for this young woman because her manner was appalling.

Today the staff were met with a very very rude customer who spoke to the one lady serving very disrespectfully. Having dealt with this behaviour and the person had left the building it was clear that it had shaken up the waiter but despite this she was processional and kind. She apologised to the rest of us waiting to be served whilst her manager went to ensure the person was off premises and order a refund. Another staff member then sent her off to have a moment to herself but before she left she brought me over a muffin to again apologise for what had gone on, and the next waiter arranged a drink on the house as I was with my service user whom is a vulnerable adult so for them change and disruption can be challening Having anything on the house of course is very much appreciated but the way the team gelled together to reassure this waiter and keep the customers happy was lovely to see. Everyone kept their cool and stayed on track without hesitation Nice one guys.

Had to wait for the staff member to finish texting on her Apple Watch to be served, she didnt seem bothered when we showed her the track and trace, tables dirty, ripped seats.

Arrived and started queuing at 11:40-after waiting in the queue for almost 20 minutes and on the verge of passing out (due to being sensible and wearing a mask-but thats a separate discussion) I had to find somewhere to sit leaving my wife in the queue. Another 10 minutes later she turned up with 2 average coffees. Turns out they were training 2 new members of staff-so slightly forgiven for this. A sign where queueing would have helped communicate this and would have a stopped multiple people getting flustered and even more grumpy waiting for their caffeine fix.

Gosia was a brilliant service she was quick and was happy to help also Gina was amazing she was very nice and lovely . Thamer

It is a truly horrible experience trying to get a coffee here at the moment. The queuing system takes a month of wet Sundays. It's the second time we've stood for half an hour trying to get a drink. There will not be a third.

My wife convinced me to stop for a cuppa. £5.45 later we had a black filter coffee on offer at £1 plus a regular Hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. £4.45 for an average size drink?! Someone's on the take surely. Challenged it with the lady and she said its because of the marshmallows and whipped cream. Would not recommend and would suggest to avoid.

The price of food in this coffee shop is on a par with a 5* restaurant, the coffee is standard Costa fare, bitter requiring sugar to make it palatable. A standard Costa Coffee Shop.

..............for a quick lunch. My husband and I come out of work once a week to meet for lunch, and recently went to this branch of Costa. Whilst the range of sandwiches etc is good, and their coffee excellent, the whole process is just too slow. I don't think that anything in particular is to blame, but waiting for at least 15 minutes when I only officially get 30 minutes for lunch is pushing it, so unfortunately, lunch here in future is out of the question. Would still go back for a morning coffee etc if I had a day off.

Your toilets are absolutely disgusting. There back of the toilet is thick with urine 🤢🤢 Had bought 2 coffees and some cake but having seen the state of your customers toilets I could only imagine the state of any storage places so walked away. In this day and age there is no need for filth.

The usual Costa coffee and food served with a smile. Handy meeting place or for a quick coffee and snack

Have visited a number of times since moving to Cwmbran a few weeks ago. Good service,nice staff and lovely hot drinks and cakes. A nice place for a coffee whilst shopping.

Admittedly it’s a popular place, but the service is getting worse and worse with every trip. Longer waits, dirty tables, chairs & floor, stale cakes and someone new be trained on the coffee machine. That inevitably can’t make what you’ve asked for and indeed paid for, on this visit whilst I was waiting to be served 4 drinks came back, and I had to send our two back as well.Happy to take the money, no so good at providing the goods & especially the service!

called in 4 coffee n cake with our 1 year old granddaughter plenty of high chairs, very busy but service good bannana and pecan cake yum

Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had toast and jam and a black forest hot chocolate normally have a cappuccino, but we had to have the Christmas special as it's to delicious to pass up. It's like having cake for breakfast with the chocolate, cream and black forest syrup on top yummy. Toast well cooked as I like it only have to ask for it to be cooked longer and it's no problem done straight away. Go at least once a month very rarely go to another Costa feel really comfortable there.

Stopped here a couple of weeks ago to have a coffee and recover from shopping with my 4 year old. The staff were lovely and friendly. The coffee was great and the cakes were a perfect treat.

The staff were lovely and chatty whilst taking my order. My coffee was delicious and so was the lemon tart that I ordered. There was also plenty of space for my sons pram.

It's always good to find somewhere to have a sit down whilst shopping and Costa is a good place especially when its in the shop

Lovely staff, friendly & attentive. Less busy than normal town store so was able to relax more and not feel rushed. Same great standard of drinks

I’ve never had bad service here and have always been served with a smile and at a good speed. Nice to be able to have a sit down and a coffee with all the shopping bags too! Also the early morning coffee comes in handy when the sale is on. I can’t really comment on the food as I don’t eat here but the drinks are good value and the cakes look lovely!

Costa inside Next store is a very nice café with friendly staff who know a lot about their products. The hot chocolate is particularly good. The layout of the café provides a very interesting view across the town, car park and entrance lobby. I can, therefore, recommend it to you.

Typical Costa. Good selection of cakes and coffees........but the queues! Need more staff. Seats comfortable. Staff friendly.

Just ok. It's above the next shop and is so hot up there. No aircon and expensive. Prob won't go again

Whilst wife was spending money, went for a coffee and a chill. The coffee is good, the tray it came on was filthy. Sat on one of the grime encrusted seats, with a paper. Unfortunately they only had the Mail On Sunday and Express. The Observer or Sunday Times would have been better. As its a Next furniture store why not use their settees and offer a waitered service. Magazines could then be provided in a home like environment.

Good service always with a smile. Always full when we have been and i feel sure would benefit from being bigger. We enjoy the aerial veiws of Cwmbran its a great place for a stop and chat. With plenty of parking near by.

How lovely to have a good quality Costa in the middle of a Retail Park!Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely go again.

This is somewhere I go regularly to sit and work. If you're a free-lancer or occasionally work from home and you have one of those days that you just need to get out of the house or away from your regular workspace – this is the perfect spot to do that. The staff are all very lovely, helpful and above all friendly. The drinks are fab, the food is comforting and most of the seats are facing floor to ceiling windows. Everything is always clean, clear and tidy and it is always a joy and a treat to go there. Only thing being, that if you want to spend a good day there – be mindful of the parking situation – the car park has a maximum stay of three hours. So I would recommend (if you're planning a full day there), after the three hours, moving your car to perhaps the Asda down the road, or use the shopping centre car park (free all day), and walk back to Costa at Next. Also, the place doesn't open until 9:30 am so if you're an eager beaver like me who on her first visit turned up an hour before that, you can go and enjoy some time in TK Maxx before working!

Great service, always with a smile... coffee and chi latte yummy! Upstairs so looks out over cwmbran... always busy, that's a sign of a good cafe right there!

Lovely cuppa coffee, friendly staff. On the top floor of Next which is great for a cuppa away from town. Bright and airy with a good view looking over town.

I was kind of disappointed with the experience this time. It might have been because it was busy, although, it was the quietest I'd ever seen inside the cafe, so it wasn't actually that busy. I had a salted caramel cappuccino and it tasted quite bitter, almost burnt.

Always stop here when shopping and it's always pretty busy but it takes soooo long to get served. Always.It's not as if it's a big place either and I don't find this elsewhere just here. The staff are always friendly.Always a good selection of food available even later in the day.

It just doesn't work. The service is always painfully slow, one person serving, one person making the coffee. Its always full of retired people who seem to make a coffee last an eternity, consequently it's a crap shoot wether your going to get a table or not.Popped in for a drink and a sandwich at lunch today. Took 45 minutes to get served, get seated, eat and get out.As I left there were 10 poor soles waiting their turn to be served in the queue. I suppose that if you're the only player on the shopping park, you can be choosy about your service levels.

Really good service. Went to shop at Next (always a great trip) and for coffee/cake/catch-up@Costa with friends. All-in-all a really nice trip. Clean, cleared tables; quick, polite service & comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend & return. Well deserved 5⭐️

Same old for Costa, what can one say. It's a chain . not sure shen travelled there. I don't make a habit of Costa.

I love Costa, I love the hot chocolate, but I'm not a fan of Costa @next.There is always a queue, there's one person on the till and one barista, it takes ages to get served then ages to get your drink, then you have to find a seat. Would I go again? Only if I was desperate.

Visited for Brunch after shopping in Next which Costa is located in.Excellent choice as I can shop & drink all in the same place. Hubby and I both had the brown toast & marmalade which was really tasty. Best bread I have tasted. The service was excellent. This Costa is a lot better than other ones we have visited. Its quite spacious with a lot of room between the table and chairs. Its also bright and airy.

Its nice to have time out whilst shopping in your favourite store. Food is good and staff are very friendly. there's a welcoming box of toys to keep young children occupied whilst you drink your beverage in peace.

Just popped in for a quick coffee the popcorn cappuccino caught my eye and I tried it not to my taste but I am sure others will like it. Service was fast and friendly as usual even no problem when we had to go and ask for take away cups as we originally planned to eat in well done keep it up

Yes a bit dirty messy scruffy. Staff were really nice and helpful at least those serving. Floors dirty just looked unkempt

We try and get in once a week for a latte and a cake, sometimes it can be hard to find a table free due to the volume of people but more often than not we manage to find a spot. The staff are very friendly and the place has a nice, cosy atmosphere ... and the caramel shortbread slices are to die for!!!

A new Costa inside the Next Store. With views overlooking the outside car park. Very useful when shopping nearby at Currys etc.Waiting for coffee is the normal thing to do these days. But worth the wait if you want a variety of coffees and drinks.

In comparison to a lot of other Costa's, it never seems rushed, it never seems panicked and overcrowded, despite being a busy store. The staff are always happy, funny people who know what they're doing enough to be able to chat to the customers at the same time, which makes you feel valued as a person, not just a source of money. The staff make this store what it is, despite the lovely location.

Excellent service. Always very friendly and helpful and even know what our family order when they are visiting. Spotlessly clean and tables cleared quickly. Never had a bad cup of coffee. They go out of their way to make your visit a pleasant one.

Great idea to have a coffee shop here, its a welcome break from shopping in the sales! Good service, they carried my tray to the table as I had difficulty. Hot chocolate lovely with marshmallows & a flake.

Tomorrow,my grandson starts back to school. We met and visited this coffee shop with his dad. Jack had his usual hot chocolate, his dad and I had coffee. Our table was quickly cleared away with a friendly smile from the waiter. Service was immediate within a friendly atmosphere. Always receive a good service here. Thank you Costa, you have come up trumps again. We'll be back....

This Costa is my nearest within walking distance.the staff very friendly and the quality is great as usual. I like to drink and people watch so try to get a window seat! My treat of the week

Good quality lactose milk and wonderfully helpful staff. Costa is definitely my favourite and I now pop in for a coffee even if I'm not shopping in next!

I visited Costa and had a glass of water and a caramel shortbread and it was nice. My Mother had a coffee and a Belgian chocolate teacake and she enjoyed her snack. Overall it provides a cool place to rest during your shopping.

Arrived about 12.30pm to a queue almost reaching the bed department! Waited over 10 minutes to order and then had to chase up some food that still hadn't arrived by the time we almost drank our lattes. However, the chicken and bacon toastie was delicious as always, same as the lattes. Would avoid peak times in future I think.

Come here a lot with my family and it's lovely. All so clean and staff very friendly, would be better if bigger though as it's always full!

You know what you get at Costa, its all pretty standard fare.The town centre store has a little better atmosphere, but not much between what is a standard chain.

I don't tend to rate Costa Coffee very much as I'm more of a starbucks or Nero fan... but the caramel cappuccino I bought has swayed me to the dark side. Yummy!

If your shopping in next this is a great coffee stop. Coffee is good and if your lucky you can sit in the window and people watch whilst drinking your coffee. Cakes are nice too!!

Met up with a couple of friends and our toddlers, had a lovely relaxing chat and delicious special hot chocolates whilst the children played with toys (battery ones that all worked and were clean) the children felt so grown up when they drank their babycinos. We went on a Tuesday morning and it wasn't too busy, we sat on comfortable sofas. The staff were lovely and friendly and brought our drinks over for us whilst we settled the children. Can't wait to go again next week,

My mum told me about the Costa inside Next on the Cwmbran retail estate. I've popped in here a few times while I've been to TKMaxx, B&Q etc. They're pretty friendly up here and it's pretty much the same as going into any normal Costa and they do everything you would usually find.I stick with a soya latte with one of the syrups, which is amazing!

Stumbled upon this by accident, was passing the estate with the shops and decided to go and have a browse in Next and Costa was upstairs.It's not big and would be crowded at peak times but it suited us perfectly after a bit if shopping. What I liked was the area for kids with a few toys and I woulld feel quite at ease taking my kids there.The staff were polite and the service was quick and efficient. Only had toasted tea cakes and tea but its pretty much the same as the others I have been to. Would definitely return.

A new Costa in Cwmbran sited on the 1st floor of the new NEXT store. Superb location with floor to ceiling windows. Staff are friendly and enthusiatic, making it a great place to have a relaxing coffee, breakfast or lunch. One of the best Costa's we've been in.
